Here's another chapter! It is based after the events in 4x11, "Shattered Sight." I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for all the love this story has gotten!

Over

Emma smiled at her parents. She scanned the crowd, searching for him, but she couldn't spot him. Frowning, she told Elsa she'd meet them at Granny's.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

"I gotta find Killian," Emma responded, glancing over Elsa's shoulder in hope of seeing him.

Elsa nodded and smiled softly. "I'll let your parents know."

"Thanks, Elsa." Emma dashed past her friend and headed toward the docks. He had told her he'd chain himself to the docks for the protection of everyone else. At the time, she'd been too distraught to think about the consequences of that action, but now that was all she could picture. If he hadn't been able to protect himself, any number of people could have hurt him. He could be injured with no way to get help or, worse, he could be de—

She forced her thoughts to end there and pushed forward, turning a corner. The docks came into view. She didn't see him. She didn't see chains or blood or any sign of a fight. That should have comforted her, but it only made her more anxious. She continued to search the docks, even glancing into a few of the buildings before she concluded he had to be somewhere else.

Heart beating rapidly, she headed to Granny's. If Killian wasn't at the docks, surely he'd be in his room at the bed and breakfast. Maybe he was waiting for her, hoping to see her just as much as she wanted to see him. A smile wormed its way onto her face as she entered the diner through the back door. She didn't want to get distracted by her family before she found Killian.

His door was locked and no one answered when she knocked. She knew he would open the door if he was in there, but she couldn't fight the panic that filled her. She waved her hand in front of the lock, hoping her magic would cooperate. A click filled the air and the door gave way. She stepped inside.

The room was so neat that Emma almost thought she had opened a vacant room. Then she saw a picture on the nightstand. She picked it up and her heart swelled. It was a copy of the picture her mother had taken of her the night of her and Killian's first date. The edges were worn, a sign that the picture was constantly picked up.

Emma took a deep breath, reigning in her emotions. She set the picture down and walked back into the hallway, locking the door behind her. She needed to see him. Quickly, she ran down the steps and out the back door onto the street.

The Crocodile had released Killian for the rest of the day. Killian knew the monster was relishing in the idea of Killian's demise, but Killian couldn't focus on that. The only thought that entered his mind was Emma. He needed to find her. Last time he had seen her, he had been convinced that was the last time he would ever see her. Now, he had another chance. Perhaps it was selfish of him to want to see her again when he knew what was going to happen, but he didn't care. All he wanted to do was hold her again.

He quickly crossed the street to Granny's. He knew that Henry would insist that they all celebrate after yet another victory. Emma wouldn't be able to deny him of that, so she would agree and convince everyone else to join them. He smiled to himself.

The prince and princess sat in the corner with their son in their arms. Henry sat across from them, but Emma was nowhere to be seen. Elsa sat in another booth with a redheaded woman and a blond man he didn't recognise.

"Hook!" Snow called. She beamed at him and waved him over. Henry turned around, his face turning red.

Killian grinned and approached their table. "Hello."

"Are you okay?" Snow asked. "We didn't see you earlier."

Killian nodded. "Aye, that I am. Are you three all right?"

"Yeah, we're great," David answered, smiling at his wife.

Killian turned to Henry. "What about you, lad?"

Henry bobbed his head. "Yeah. Are you? You fell pretty hard."

Killian chuckled, rubbing the back of his head where he was sure a bruise was forming. "I've had worse."

"Sorry about that, too," Henry said sheepishly. "I wouldn't have booby trapped the door if I wasn't under that spell."

Killian clapped him on the shoulder. "It is quite all right, Henry. Now, have you seen your mother?"

He shook his head. "No, but Elsa might know where she is."

Killian thanked him before moving over to Elsa's table.

"Hook, you're here!" she exclaimed.

"Aye. Have you seen Emma?" He was starting to get anxious. Why couldn't anyone tell him where she was?

Elsa glanced at the door and then back at him. "She said she was going to find you."

Killian sighed. "Do you know where she went?"

"No, I'm sorry."

He forced a smile. "It's all right. I'll find her." He stepped back and left the diner in a hurry. Perhaps she would be at the docks. That was where he told her he'd be. Quickly, he ran there, hoping to see her there.

The docks were empty. He searched them thoroughly. No sign of his Swan. He ran his hand over his face, frustrated. He didn't want to spend his last day running around. He wanted to spend it with Emma.

He headed in the direction of the Charmings' apartment. Maybe she was there.

As he walked past Granny's, he thought that maybe he should check it again, just in case she showed up there. Starting across the street, he decided to go through the back and see if she had tried to go to his room. He turned the corner to walk down the side of the building when his body collided with someone else's.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't looking—" He cut off when his eyes focused on the person in front of him. She was rubbing her head, eyes closed tight. He surged forward, wrapping her in his arms.

"Wha—" She pushed back but quickly stop when she realized who had ran into her. "Killian!" She grabbed his shoulders and forced him into a tight hug. She blew out a sigh of relief. "You're okay."

Killian chuckled. "That I am. So are you."

She nodded and pulled back, wiping her eyes. "Of course I am. I'm fine."

He raised his eyebrows. "What's wrong?"

She looked up at him, the tears in her eyes contradicting the smile on her face. "I just…when I couldn't find you, I thought maybe something had happened to you. You weren't at the docks or your room. I…I was, well, I was worried."

If Killian's heart was in his chest, it would have been crushed. She had been worried about him, so worried. She didn't know how close she had been to losing him, how close he had been to losing her. Even now he was living on borrowed time. This time tomorrow, he would be gone. When she found him, when she saw what would happen—

"Are you okay?" she asked, cupping his cheek. "You seem out of it."

He smiled, trying to wipe the worry from his mind. "I'm all right, Swan."

"You sure?"

He nodded, leaning his forehead on hers. "Aye." He closed his eyes and pulled her closer.

Emma swiped her thumb over Killian's cheek, smiling. "Good." She took a small step forward, pressing her lips to his. When she pulled away, she frowned. "Are you sure you're okay?"

She knew something was wrong, Killian could tell. He wanted for her to figure out what was happening with his entire being. He wanted her to help him, help him stay. He wanted to so no, but the power the Crocodile had over his heart was far too powerful.

"I'm perfectly all right, love."

She searched his eyes. Something was off, but she couldn't place it. She wanted him to open up, but she wouldn't push him. So she nodded and grabbed his hand, pulling him in the direction of the front of Granny's.

"Let's go eat. I'm starving. Who knew defeating an evil Snow Queen would take so much energy?"

Killian chuckled. "I say you deserve a grilled cheese."

"And onion rings."

"Oh, how could I forget the onion rings?"

A laugh escaped her lips. "Come on."

He grinned, allowing her to pull him with her. His grip on her hand never loosened. When they sat down, he kept his arm around her. Later, when Emma's parents went home, arranging Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff's rooms with Granny first, Henry, Emma, and Killian went to his room and played cards. Killian sat close to his love the entire time, aching to hold her hand, but she needed them both for the game. When it got late, Emma announced that she needed to get Henry home and to bed for school the next morning. Killian embraced a slightly confused Henry before turning to Emma.

"Goodnight." He kissed her forehead, lingering for a moment.

Emma smiled. "Goodnight." She kissed him lightly before pulling away and meeting his eyes. "Are you sure you're okay? You've seemed off today."

"I'm okay, Emma. Stop worrying. The spell just rattled me a little."

"Do you want to talk about it? I can drop Henry off at Regina's—"

He shook his head. She was amazing. He couldn't help but smile. "Emma, love, I'm fine. I've handled much worse than being chained to the docks. Don't worry."

She hesitated.

"Emma."

A sigh left her lips. "Okay, Killian. I trust you." She kissed him again, resisting the urge to frown after pulling away. Something was definitely wrong. "Goodnight."

He gave her a reassuring smile. "Goodnight."

She returned the smile and stepped out, putting her arm around Henry.

"'Night, Killian," Henry said, smiling.

"Goodnight, lad. Take care of your mother."

Emma rolled her eyes. "I'm not that old."

Killian laughed. "That's not what I was implying."

"I know." She gave him one last smile before steering Henry away and down the stairs. Killian stared after them, only closing his door when he heard them exit the building.

He picked up the photo on his nightstand as he collapsed on his bed. That night, he didn't sleep a wink. His mind was too awake, too alive with his worries for Emma. When the sun started to rise, his eyes started to droop. He let sleep overtake him, hoping he'd wake up in time to see Emma once more.

I hope you enjoyed that. Sorry if there were any typos. I did minimal edits on this because I've been rather busy.
