'I can't believe he came all this way to go shopping.' You thought to yourself as you walked beside master Kai inside the huge outdoor shopping center. All the stores were setup similar to a regular indoor mall, the only difference was the roof being open to let in the elements.

He was leading the way when you guys finally stepped into a very fancy jewelry store. Surrounded by glass cases lit up with bright lights that shined off of stones of every color you couldn't help but to take it all in.

Stepping closer to the circular display that was in the middle of the store your eyes caught a set of beautiful turquoise blue diamond earrings. They starred at you like eyes that could see into your soul and something about it nagged at the back of your mind.

"See something you like?" Master Kai almost whispered into your ear his chest now against your back.

You flinched at his sudden closeness, but then relaxed as you responded. "It's all very, beautiful."

"..Pick something." He said placing his hands gently on your hips.

"..No..I..I can't-" "Are you refusing me?"

"N-No mas-" "I told you to stop calling me that. And now I'm telling you to pick something..If you don't I will pick the most expensive thing in here and you will have to wear it everyday for the rest of your life."

You did your best to keep your face neutral but knew that your eyes had widened at his threat. 'What should I pick?..Nothing too expensive obviously..But of course I can't see the price tags..I need to pick something quickly or el-wait, yeah that could work.'

Stepping out of master Kai's hold you walked to the left and found what you were looking for. "..I like this one."

A sales clerk stepped closer to you and eyed the piece you were pointing to. "Yes that is a lovely chain indeed. Are you looking for a pendent to hang from it as well?"

"No, just the chain is fine, thank you."

"Well then let's try it on."

The salesman placed the delicate chain around your neck and you looked in the nearby mirror. The chain was short, not quite a choker, with a spiral design made from tiny metal circles. Despite being thin it was very durable and wasn't too flashy in case he did make her wear it everyday. 'It's not a tattoo, but it will have to do as a replacement..'

"What do you think?" The store associate asked looking between you and master Kai who was watching you like a hawk.

"I..like it." You said unable to take your eyes off of your reflection.

"Then we'll take it." Said Master Kai with finality as he walked to the opposite counter to pay for the necklace.

After that he bought you expensive name brand clothing. Outfits, shoes and accessories fit for celebrities and other important people; things you could only dream of wearing.

All the while though, your anxiety was building. 'Why is he doing all of this?..I'm almost afraid to ask after he called me his woman and said removing my tattoo was the best thing for me..even after I asked nicely to have it redone he wouldn't even listen to me..'

Back in the car you starred out the window, watching the trees pass by at high speeds. You hoped that you guys were heading back home but when the vehicle started to slow as it approached what you could only describe as a mansion in the middle of the woods you had a feeling that that wasn't happening.

Master Kai climbed out of the car with you right behind him. The house was even bigger once you were out of the vehicle.

"Welcome to our new home."

"..New home?..What do you mean?" You questioned unable to take your eyes off the massive two story building made of stone and dark wood.

"I mean as of today this is where we will be living." He looked back at you to gauge your reaction before continuing. "..You don't like it?"

"..No, no it's beautiful."

"Then why do you have that look on your face?..I thought you'd be happy not upset."

"..I'm not upset..I just..feel so, unworthy." 'First the necklace and the clothes, now this?!'

"..You are the very definition of worthy, I knew that the minute I laid eyes on you." His gloved hands grabbed yours forcing you to look up at him as he continued. "You, Mia, are perfect in every possible way."

Your eyes widened at those words. "..Why do you keep saying things like that?" You whispered as a blush began to warm your cheeks.

"..Because my feelings for you have grown exponentially these past few months."

"…Really?"

"Yes..I want to be with you. Grow old together..start a family."

'How could I forget he said he wanted us to be a normal couple..' "..But I'm a slave.. I'm quirkless."

"Quirks are a terrible disease anyway. I detest that I am not more like you."

Your eyes widened even more. "..You'd rather be a slave?"

"I'd rather be quirkless..You are how we all were intended to be, but somewhere along the line a virus took affect and gave humans quirks as a result..Imagine if everyone was quirkless, how different our world would be." He grabbed your hand and lead you inside through the huge wooden double door entrance.

Your eyes practically sparkled at the beauty before you. Matching hard wood floors and a high ceiling greeted you as you stepped inside. A grand staircase on both sides of the massive foyer lead up to the second floor which housed a balcony to overlook the entryway.

A huge modern style chandelier hung above you and the black metal complimented the dark wood very nicely.

"..That's..a lot to take in." You responded eyes still darting around to take everything in.

Not even realizing that your hands were still connected he lead you to the back of the house. Passing the kitchen and the living room he stopped at the back door before finally turning to you. "..Has no one ever confessed to you before?"

"..I-uh..I don't think so."

Master Kai looked off to the side as he thought about his next words very carefully. "This is all new to me too..I've never even wanted an actual relationship. But you are the only person I've ever wanted to try with."

'I almost wish I could say the same..' "..I'm..definitely not worthy of all that master Kai."

"Whether you feel worthy or not, everything is already in place."

The next morning you stood in the oversized kitchen preparing breakfast. Thankfully the fridge and pantry were already fully stocked.

Master Kai was sitting on one of the stools at the counter watching you intently. Things had become awkward between the two of you since his confession the other day but you were doing you'r best to push through.

'..I feel like I've been swept up in some sort of fairytale dream..but I..I don't feel right..something feels off-'

"What would you like to do today?"

His question interrupted your thoughts and made you flinch at the sound. "..I was going to clean the house today."

"I have already hired someone who will clean this place for us, I even got us a personal chef so you won't have to cook anymore."

'Well that hurts…Now I feel like i'm being replaced..' "..I see…Is my cooking that bad?"

"Far from it..But I don't want you to have to worry about those things anymore. I want your focus on me, just as mine will be on you."

"..What about your work? Chrono-san and the other-" "That is not for you to concern yourself with."

"..When you called this our new home..did you mean, permanently?"

"..Yes..there may be times when I have to go back and handle some things personally, but for the most part consider both of us retired."

'He's not even that old…Why do I get the feeling that he's running from something?'

"..We aren't too far from the coast..Have you ever been to the ocean?"

You looked at him and shook your head no.

"Then that's where we'll go after breakfast."

'Guess I have no choice but to continue to try and act like everything is okay.'

A week later master Kai had to leave and take care of some business. He said he wouldn't be back until late the next day.

You were happy to have some time to yourself. Seemed like lately you couldn't escape master Kai. He was always there, trying to spend time with you, when all you wanted to do was to be left to your thoughts.

Alone in this empty mansion with nothing to do, you flopped down on the couch and starred at the tall ceiling noticing the detailed woodwork above.

Suddenly the sound of white noise hit your ears and you turned your head to see where it was coming from. Eyebrows raised when static appeared on the tv screen out of nowhere. 'Did I accidentally sit on the remote or something?' You questioned yourself sitting upright.

Standing you were about to walk over to the device to see what was wrong, until the static faded away to a clear image of a man sitting on a single chair in a room.

His head was down and he was shirtless exposing a mess of purple scars across his body and arms. As he looked directly at the camera your left eye twitched. His eyes were a brilliant shade of turquoise blue and you felt that nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you'd seen them somewhere before.

He opened his mouth to speak and his voice sent shivers down your spine, giving you the worst case of deja 'vu you've ever had in your life. 'Why do I feel like I've heard this voice before?'

It was deep and raspy but also sexy and 'Stop it Mia, you don't even know this guy.'

He talked about who he really was, his father, his family and the reason he killed so many innocent people. Tears started falling down your face and you couldn't understand why your body was reacting in such a way. You were frozen as you starred at the half naked man on screen, crying for reasons unknown to you.

"..Mia. Don't worry, wherever you are, I'll find you."

Your mouth fell open. "..What?" 'Did he just say my name?..He couldn't have meant me. No, Mia is a very common name..It must be someone else..' Your hand went for your chest and felt your rapid heartbeat. 'What's going on with me?..No way anyone is looking for me..'

As you lay in bed, alone later that night, you couldn't help but to think about the man from earlier. 'He said his name was..what was it again?..Touya? Yeah it was Touya Todoroki-'

An intense pain jolted through your head as a fuzzy disembodied voice echoed in your mind.

Mast~ Tou~

'..What was that?' There was a dull throb at your temple but you did your best to ignore it. 'That name, Touy-'

Touya

'What's going on?..Do I actually know hi-' your eyebrow twitched and the dull throb was turning into an intense pounding 'Touya Todor-' your thought was cut off as your body forced you to fall asleep, unable to take the pain anymore.

You sat on the steps leading off the back patio. Tears ran down your face as all you could think about was what happened earlier that day.

Wiping at your face with the back of your arm you did your best to hide the fact that you were crying as you heard someone open and close the back door.

"I haven't seen you all day…If I didn't know any better I'd wonder why you'r avoiding me."

You said nothing as he approached you cautiously. Stopping to stand next to you as he tried not to seem interested in what was going on.

"..The silent treatment too..I must've really pissed you off." He commented still standing and looking up at the night sky. Obviously he wasn't going to leave you alone despite how obvious it was that you didn't want to be disturbed.

"..Why?"

"Huh?"

You turned your face towards him causing you to look up. With the light from the full moon finally catching your face you knew he could see the trail of tears still running down your cheeks. "..Why is this happening to me?…Why am I a slave?..Why did I have to get this tattoo?…Why was I born quirkless?" The questions came so easily but you knew that the answers you sought wouldn't.

Being forced to get a tattoo that labeled you as one of the unfortunate was heartbreaking. While you knew you wanted tattoos when you were older, this is far from what you meant. 'Now everyone will know from first glance that I'm quirkless..I can't even hide it..'

"..I don't have an answer to that.."

"..I didn't expect you to..but since you won't leave me alone," your words trailed off hoping that the message would sink in as you used your hands to rid your face of the tears.

"..You'r always so cheerful despite your situation." He commented.

"What else can I do?..If I walk around sad and mad at the world I'll end up stuck like that..The best thing to do is grin and bear it.. At least if it looks like I'm enjoying myself, no one can truly say they broke me.."

You were being honest and extremely vulnerable because that was how you felt. Exposed and naked for the world to see. And they weren't just looking, they were also pointing and laughing at you. That's exactly what you waiting to happen, but it never came.

Touya looked at you, but there was no pity in his eyes, nor hate or disgust. "..At least it looks good on you.."

His words made you raise an eyebrow and you felt your cheeks heat up as a result. "..Really?" You questioned rubbing the side of your neck. It caught you off guard and you felt a new emotion for the young man next to you. One you couldn't quite pinpoint at the time but it made your heart race and pound loud in your ears. Your mouth seemed to fill with spit forcing you swallow at the same time you could literally feel yourself starting to sweat profusely.

"Yeah, but you can't keep rubbing it like that."

You didn't realize it but you'd been rubbing the back and side of your neck with your hand. "I can't help it, it's so itchy."

"Come with me." He said as his hand appeared in front of your face. You looked from his hand to his face and back to the appendage.

Slowly you grabbed his hand and he pulled you into a standing position before leading you back into the house.

He lead you to a bathroom close to the kitchen before finally releasing your hand. You starred at the hand he'd held and you couldn't take your eyes off it as he opened cabinets and drawers to find something.

'He actually complimented me..and then held my hand..'

"..Found it." You looked at him as he stepped closer now holding a small jar of what looked like ointment. "Look up."

You did as he said, looking up at the ceiling and felt instant relief as his fingers glided across your throat, spreading the ointment on your fresh tattoo.

"..Thanks Touy~"

The scene became static and quickly faded away. Leaving you standing in a large dark empty space. Your eyes tried to adjust to the pitch blackness but it was impossible.

Suddenly everything around you began to literally crack, like it was all made of glass. Jagged lines appeared out of nowhere letting in a blinding light that eventually became too bright for you to look at.

Covering your eyes you felt the ground beneath you give in and your body fell landing on your ass, however it didn't hurt.

The sound of a door opening made you open your eyes. You were on a bed in what could have easily been a hotel. A cloud of steam caught your attention as a door opened. It was obviously a bathroom and someone must've just taken a shower. Your eyes widened at the sight of the now older and slightly different looking man before you.

He sat on the edge of the bed and looked back at you. "..Nothing I can do about the scars but I can at least show you this."

You sat up and scooted closer to him, "..Can I touch it?"

He smiled and grabbed your waist pulling you so that you where now straddling him. "Go ahead."

You lifted your right hand slowly and gently touched his still wet hair. He didn't seem displeased by it so you ran your fingers through the wet locks and was kinda surprised by how nice it felt.

"Did seeing me like this trigger something?"

His question made you pause momentarily before you resumed your ministrations. "..No, I'm sorry master Dabi."

"Quit apologizing."

"..Sorry. It's a habit."

"Must be something you picked up later because I don't remember you being like this." He sighed heavily and put his head on your shoulder causing you to stop and look down at him.

'He's upset again.' You slowly wrapped your arms around him, testing the waters to see if something as simple as giving him a hug was going too far.

He didn't move or flinch which you took as a good sign to keep going. Relaxing around him hoping it would help ease his tension. "You've gone through changes, so have I."

"Not much has changed about you from what I can tell."

'Well now I'm curious.' "..What was I like, back then?"

"..You were more outspoken. A little weird but at least you smiled every once in awhile…You've lost some of that fire that you used to have.."

Your eyes snapped open. '..That was..a crazy dream…about me and the guy from tv?..It seemed oddly specific.' You turned your head to see an empty bed and for once didn't feel upset about being left alone.

'Thank god he isn't here. He'd know something was up immediately…I must be going crazy. There's no way what I saw the other day was real..That's right! I never even turned the tv on yesterday which means I didn't see anything..And last nights dream, was just that. A crazy dream concocted by my crazy brain with nothing better to do..This is why I need to get back to my normal routine.' You nodded to yourself as you stood from the bed.

After a quick shower you made your way down the stairs to the first floor and went straight to the kitchen.

'You can do this Mia..' You paused spotting the personal chef master Kai hired. He was already in the process of prepping todays meals as you stepped closer to him. "Um, excuse me?"

He continued moving his hands while only sparing you a quick glance before responding. "Ah, Young Miss, I'm sorry but breakfast will not be ready for at least another forty minutes."

"A-actually, do you mind, taking off for today?" 'I really want to be alone especially if master Kai still isn't here.'

He stopped what he was doing and gave you a look. "..You want me to leave?"

"Yeah..j-just for today. Mas-I mean Kai isn't here anyway, and I..kinda want to cook for myself."

"..If that's what you want Miss, I shall leave for the day."

He bows low as he gathers his things and leaves. A blush creeps onto your cheeks at someone else treating you with such respect. Your hand subconsciously goes to your neck, feeling the metal of the chain master Kai got you from the jewelry store. 'Even though I could never really feel it before, I always knew it was there..'

'It's so weird having someone treat me like the lady of the house…I can't help but wonder though how different that conversation would've gone if I still had my tattoo..'

After breakfast you decided to step outside and get some fresh air. The weather was warming up and the flowers would be in full bloom soon. Spring was your absolute favorite time of year. Not too hot and not too cold.

Dressed in a pair of denim jeans and a short sleeved, purple v neck top you stepped outside through the sliding backdoor onto the back patio and took in a deep breath. 'This place really is beautiful.'

Stepping from wood to grass you walked towards the tree line and stopped once you got too close. '..I shouldn't go too far.'

You continued to walk away from the house but made sure to keep it in your sights. 'I'll go a bit further then turn back.'

Looking back over your shoulder you could no longer see the massive house in the distance so you came to a stop. At the same time it felt like your foot hit something weird, something that probably shouldn't be in the middle of the woods.

Glancing down at what your foot had made contact with you noticed that there was something metal underneath this particular pile of foliage. 'What is that?' You questioned crouching down for a closer look as you pushed some of the dead leaves aside.

Your eyes widened as you uncovered a door to an underground bunker. Turning the handle the latch lifted easily and you starred down into the dimly lit dark space. '..No way I'm going in there. Doesn't seem like there's anything-'

A sound hit your ears, one that you were very familiar with. Someone was inside and they were crying.

"H-hello?" You called out, hoping you misheard.

The sobbing stopped. "..Help!..Help me please!"

Your body froze for a second before it moved on its own as you climbed the attached ladder down into the underground bunker. On your way down a light flicked on and it startled you almost causing you to fall the rest of the way down.

Turning around you immediately took in the sight before you. A young girl, in her early teens was trapped by metal cuffs sticking out of the wall. She was blindfolded and clothed in a school uniform consisting of a white shirt with a red neck tie and a dark green skirt.

"Please help me, before he comes back!"

You stepped closer and touched the metal cuff around her wrist. It would be impossible to do anything without the key. "..Before who comes back?" You asked barely above a whisper.

"Overhaul."

'..That's what everyone else calls master Kai.' "..He-He did this to you?"

She nodded her head yes.

"..I-I really wish I could help, but I don't know where the keys are."

"..You could do something else. What about your quirk? Or your phone! You could call the heroes and tell them where I am. Please..I need to get out of here!"

"..I-" "What the hell are you doing?"

A chill ran down your spine at the cold commanding voice of master Kai. Now you were officially frozen. You'd been caught doing something you weren't supposed to do and you had no idea what you could say to get out of trouble.

"I asked you a question Mia."

You turned and found him much closer than you initially anticipated. Casting your gaze at the floor you stuttered. "..I-I'm so-sorry master Kai..I just went for a walk-" "And somehow ended up here? That's one hell of a coincidence."

The anger was rolling off him in waves and you were thankful that you couldn't see his face. "Please master Kai, I-I had no ide-" Your words were cut off by his right hand, slapping you across the face so hard that you fell to the ground.

"..You are to forget everything you saw here today, do I make myself clear?" With your hand cradling your cheek you nodded your head 'yes.' "Go back to the house and wait for me."

You crawled away before finally finding your footing and stood to go up the ladder. Looking back over your shoulder once more to see fresh tears on the young girls face. Your heart ached but there was nothing you could do in that moment to help her, especially now that master Kai was there.

Walking at a faster pace in the direction of the house your thoughts were moving just as quickly. 'The hell is going on? Why was she locked up? Why would he keep her like that?..Is she like me?…Or worse..'

Instead of walking towards the back door you bypassed the house completely and kept going. Unsure why you were disobeying direct orders, your body was in charge and screaming at you to get away. To run and never look back. '..I knew it seemed like he was running, but why have another girl tied up like that..'

Picking up the pace your feet began to get with the program and you started to run. With no idea where you were or where you'r going, you ran, staying close to the road.

When you were too tired to run, you walked. You didn't stop for anything though, knowing you were too far gone now. 'Turning back will only get me killed.'

'What do I do, What do I do?! I can't believe I ran away..Stupid, I'm so, so stupid..I should've turned around.'

You continued to walk however until you found a police station in the nearby town. 'Finally, they can help me,' you thought as you pushed open the door and stepped inside the small building.

"Can I help you?" Came an older male voice from behind the counter that was set up by the entrance.

"Uh y-yeah. My name is Mia..and I'm a d-displaced slave." 'I can't tell them where I came from or the girl..I'm so sorry..damnit, I never got her name..'

"..You're turning yourself in?" He questioned with a raised brow.

You nod your head.

He stands from his chair and gives you a once over, eyes stopping at your throat. "..If you're a slave, what happened to your tattoo?"

"..I..I don't remember." '..Probably best if I act like I have no memory at all. Besides it's not completely a lie.'

"..I see..Hey Saito?" The older man called.

A younger officer appeared from another room in the precinct. "Yeah?"

"Grab her information for me will ya? She says she's a displaced slave."

He paused and looked at you with a raised eyebrow. "..Really? And she just came here on her own?"

'Why do they keep saying it like that?' You thought raising your own eyebrow.

"I said the same thing. Just scan her for me."

The younger officer, Saito, stepped closer and looked you up and down. "..What happened to your tattoo?"

The older officer stood from his seat, "Just scan the back of her neck and see if she has a chip."

Saito held his phone up to the back of your neck. Looking at the screen he made a face, "..Um.."

"What is it?"

"Nothing's coming up."

"What do you mean nothing's coming up?"

"I mean there's nothing there."

The older officer stepped around the counter and looked at Saito's phone before turning to you with an angry look on his face. "..You know we can arrest you for wasting our time."

Your eyes widened. 'I didn't think of that..' "No I..I'm not trying to waste your time. I really am a slave.."

They had you wait inside a cell by yourself while they did some research into your identity and you took that time to think about your situation.

'What's gonna happen to me now?..I feel like I fucked up royally..Seriously why did I keep walking away from the house? It was right there, all I had to do was go inside..and instead I walked for what had to be hours only to end up here..locked in a cell..'

Your hand grabbed the back of your neck 'Can't believe he took out the chip too..I feel like I'm off the grid…If that's the case I could've kept going. Started a new life somewhere far far away..'

"Time to go." Said the officer known as Saito. He opened the door and you followed him back to the main entrance of the police station.

You noticed someone was talking to the older officer by the door. He was young with blonde hair and these brilliant bright red wings that blocked the rest of him from your view.

"Mia!" He exclaimed at the sight of you, turning so you could see him fully. "It's been too long but boy am I happy to see that you'r okay."

"..Uh, same." '..I have no idea who this guy is.' You thought taking in his golden eyes and strange attire.

He tilted his head to the side, "..You don't remember me do you?"

You shook your head no and looked down to the floor. "I'm sorry sir."

He looked to the two officers and the older one spoke up. "Looks like she was completely wiped clean. No tattoo, no chip, no memory."

"That is very strange indeed..And you say she came here on her own?"

"Surveillance shows she approached the building from the south side on foot."

"..Well, I'll take it from here gentlemen. Keep up the good work..And if anyone comes looking for her-" "We'll be sure to contact you immediately."

He practically pushed you out of the building and across the street before he stopped in the middle of the sidewalk.

"It will be much faster to fly where we're going so I'm gonna need you to hold on tight."

His arms lifted you easily in a bridal carry and you hugged onto his shoulders as tight as you could without restricting his movements. His wings extended before he jumped and before you knew it you were in the air.

When he finally landed and you didn't feel the rush of wind you opened your eyes, which you didn't remember closing and looked at where you were. He was still holding you while standing on the roof of a building. You recognized nothing as he let go of your legs and let you stand on your own.

Looking around you wanted to ask so many questions, but had no idea were to start. Any wrong move on your part could lead to many horrible outcomes, so instead you remained silent with your gaze to the cement below your feet.

"..You coming?" He asked already walking towards the door that lead inside.

Following the red winged man into the tall building made you feel nervous and very uneasy. You went down one flight of stairs before he opened another door and walked down a long hallway.

Pulling out a set of keys he unlocked the door and motioned for you to go in first.

It was a simple one bedroom apartment with a small balcony that you could see from the front door due to the open floorpan. The bedroom was its own separate space to your right behind an open door. There was a small kitchen to your left and a two cushion couch situated in front of a decent sized flat screen tv across from the entrance were you stood. You removed your shoes but stayed close to the door waiting for him to also enter and give you your instructions.

"It's not much but I made sure to get you the biggest one." He stepped in behind you but didn't bother to take off his shoes as he squeezed past you and into the kitchen. "The fridge and pantry are fully stocked. If you run out of something check the cafeteria on the first floor before trying to go outside. Things are still a little crazy out there."

You nodded your head to let him know that you were listening, even if some of what he said didn't make any sense to you.

"Oh yeah," he exclaimed reaching into his inner jacket pocket and pulling out what looked like a credit card, setting it on the counter he slid it close to you before continuing. "You can use this to make purchases. On the first of every month ten thousand yen will be deposited into your very own personal account. You can use the money as you wish. All the utilities are covered and there's no monthly rent for the time being..Besides that you are free to live your life as you please…No more masters, no more servitude."

'..What did he just say?' "..I..I don't understand what you mean..Aren't you my master?"

"Oh no! Like I just said you are a free woman."

"..Then, how do we know each other?"

"We met while you belonged to someone else. I wasn't your master than either, but we share a mutual friend."

'Mutual friend? What is he talking about?'

"I tried to tell you this would happen back then. That one day you would be free..Well the day is finally here. You are free and will never have to take orders from anyone ever again." The excitement in his voice made you question his true intentions even more.

'This is some kinda joke. There's no way the government just reversed the law like that..' "..That's a terrible joke sir."

"The names Hawks and I wouldn't lie to you…See for yourself, It's all over the news." He stepped around you and into the living area, grabbing the remote to turn on the television.

"-People are still reacting to the abolishment of the quirkless slave law. What do you think about this?"

"Honestly I thought the law was strange from the very beginning. Why make the most defenseless citizens slaves when the hero system was put in place to protect them and the rest of the world?..And then to change it in the midst of everything that's happening."

"That has always been the hot topic of debate. Why make the quirkless population into slaves? Who really benefited from that?..Turns out our next guest might have those answers."

Your mouth was almost hanging open. '..This..is real?!…I'm free.'
