Aunt Epilogue
Grandfather is has been soundly defeated, but the mess that's left behind that the Kids Next Door has to clean up is a massive one. Both on the moon and on Earth.
It's going to take a lot of hard work, but they can do it. They've overcome a lot and with plenty of perseverance, they can do so again.
The mansion is going to take a while to redo. As sour-tempered as ever Father immediately sets the Delightful Children to work on it after their transformation back from Sector Z. Just being around them right now gives Aunt a headache.
Aunt doesn't really feel like interacting with her brother right now. After he went back on his promise to join the fight against Pappy, passing the opportunity to do the right thing this time around, he's lucky she hasn't throttled him to hell and back yet. But she's a woman of her word and that brief glimpse at the noble courage inside she thought long gone is enough to get her to stay for the time being.
After the victory was confirmed Aunt left the now Decommissioned Number 0 to Nigel while she returned Pappy to the retirement home that has been his sanctuary in his elderly years.
As Aunt departs from the building after getting Pappy resettled, she is met with a surprised face.
Nigel is standing across the street warily waiting for her.
Aunt is currently in her Lena persona so doesn't see the harm in talking to him. In fact, as Lena approaches Nigel, he appears very anxious and apprehensive about being there. Lena guesses that the last thing he wants is to be caught there by his comrades talking to her and by the relief on his face when he sees that she's not in her normal state clarifies this.
"Hello, Nigel," said Lena, kindly.
"Hello…," said Nigel, tone trailing off as he is unsure what to call her now with all this new information cramming his brain.
Chuckling gently at him, Lena said "It's all right. You may call me Aunt Lena when it's just the two of us. I understand it'll take a bit of getting used to. You don't have to do so right away. Now, why are you here? I thought you'd be with your father or your friends."
"Uh…well…you see…I have something to ask you," said Nigel, stumbling over the right words, not at all acting like the defiant miscreant he usually is when faced with her.
"Yes, go on," encouraged Lena, bending slightly so that they can be at eye level.
"I was wondering…if you would tell me about my dad," requested Nigel.
Smiling warmly at Nigel's declaration Lena wraps an arm around his shoulder. As Lena walked him back home, she told him various stories about Monty in his younger years as Number 0. Answering whatever questions the boy has about his father to the best of her ability.
And such is the beginning of a budding relationship between Aunt and Nephew a long time coming.
