Death Eaters flew into Porter's Wands, destroying the front of the store, with its windows, in flames.
Wizards and Witches ran away from the explosion, screaming in terror.
Three walked out of the store; two wore silver masks, carrying boxes of wands.
The other (imagine Clayton from Tarzan), walked out with Porter.
The old man had a bag over his head as the brute lead him by the nape of his neck.
They went back into the air, away from Diagon Alley and destroyed a Muggle bridge; killing many Muggles.
Manny Drac Frost opened his front door for North.
"Manny, how is your son doing?" North asked as he came into the house.
Drac sighed and closed the door. "Not to be rude," he turned to North, "but how would you feel if your brother had been kidnapped?"
North noded with an, "Mmm."
"He's in his room." Manny gestured for North to visit Jack upstairs.
North jogged up to Jack's door and knocked.
"Come in," Jack solemnly said.
North went inside and saw Jack sitting at his window with his hood over his head.
Jack tapped his window with his pinkie, making frost spread out into a silhouette of Eugene.
"I've always loved doing magic without my wand," North said, as jolly as he could.
"Hey, Uncle North," Jack responded; still looking out his window.
"What are you thinking?"
"I just, uh…" Jack looked away from his window. "I wish I could'a done something."
"Done something?" North sat in front of Jack. "Jack, you stood up and fought Death Eaters."
"But Eugene-"
"I'm sure he is proud of what you did."
Jack looked at North, astonishment and anger covering his features. He jumped to his feet, pulling back his hood, and yelled at North. "If he were proud, he would be here! But he's not! He…he…" Jack growled and stormed to his wall, clenching his fists as he huffs, trying to calm himself.
North stood and took note of the unkempt room. "How would you like to see an old friend of mine?"
Jack sighed. "Why?"
"Well, he was once a professor at Hogwarts and was quite the friend to your mother."
Jack turned to North. "Does Dad know you're taking me to this guy?"
North nodded. "He does."
Jack put on his shoes and they Disapparated.
They Apparated in a village.
"Welcome to Budleigh Babberton," North said joyfully and then walked away, with Jack quickly following.
They approached a house with the door hanging off the top hinge.
North whispered, "Wands at the ready, Jack."
They pulled out their wands and stealthily went inside, illuminating their wands.
Once inside, they saw the house in shambles.
North directed his walk to the living room. "Frank?" He said loudly in a hushed tone. "Frank?"
Jack looked down at a newspaper with him and Rapunzel on the cover, the article being about Eugene's disappearance.
Blood dropped onto the newspaper.
Jack gazed up and noticed the ceiling was damaged with a large spot of blood dripping down.
North turned to Jack and blood dribbled onto Jack's forehead.
Jack went to wipe it off, but North did first and tasted it.
North turned back around, to a blue chair with shoes sticking from underneath it. North slowly approached the chair and touched it with his wand.
"Holy rabies!" A man's head popped out the top of the chair. His face was pale, nearly blue as if he had been dead, with a scar going across his forehead. He stood as he untransformed from being a chair. "No need to disfigure me, North." He chuckled.
"I'm sorry, but you do make a convincing chair, Frank." North apologized.
"Well, it's all about the upholstery, but what gave me away?"
North pointed back to the blood spot. "Dragon's blood."
Frank smiled and noticed Jack. "Oh," his attention went straight to the teen.
"Ah, yes." North said. "Introductions are in order. This is a mutual friend of mine and your parents, Frank N. Stein. Frank, well, I'm sure you know who this is."
"Jack Frost." Frank chuckled and locked a door over to the side.
"What is with the theatrics, Frank?" North asked. "Were you hiding from someone?"
Frank sighed and walked back to North and Jack. "Death Eaters, man. They've been trying to convince me to join them. You know what that's like? I have to squat in different houses almost every week to avoid them. Clearly, I didn't do that great of a job this time. Poor Muggles."
"Let's put things back in order for them then." North said. He waved his wand and everything in the house, including the front door, went back to normal. He had a big grin on his face with his eyes wide, as if he had never seen magic before. "I love doing that when I can, such a fun spell. One moment, I must use the vannaya." He walked off to the nearest bathroom.
"I know why you're here, Nick," Frank told him. "My answer is still the same!" He yelled as North got further away.
Frank and Jack looked at each other. They both chuckled, but only Jack's was awkward.
"You remind me of your dad, but you have your mother's eyes."
Jack genuinely smiled. "Pitch said I have dad's eyes."
Frank nodded. "Pitch is right, but only in color. Your eyes have the same kind gentleness that your mother's had."
Jack chuckled. "That's a new one."
"Hmm." Frank wore a lopsided smile and said, "I'm sure it is. She was a beautiful woman and sharp as a whip; undoubtedly one of my favorite students."
Jack quirked a brow. "How old are you?"
Frank laughed out loud. "Oh, man. Old enough to be a teacher, but young enough to be friends with your parents."
"Sure, why not?" Jack said with a shrug.
Frank approached Jack and put his hand on Jack's shoulder. "It's nice to finally meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
"Time to go, Jack." North called from the front door.
"Wha—already?" Frank asked in astonishment.
Jack walked over to North.
"Yes, yes," North replied. "I know a lost cause when I see one, truly regrettable. It would have been fantastic if you had returned to Hogwarts, but…alas. Bye for now, Frank."
Jack barely waved bye when he saw how disappointed and sad Frank looked.
As they were nearing the gate, Frank came out of the house.
"Alright, I'll return. I want a bigger classroom this time though and a raise. I've been separated from the Misses for a bit too long and I'm sure only a new necklace and some rings can soothe her."
"It's a deal," North agreed to the terms.
Once they were away from the house, Jack had a question.
"What was that about?"
"I wanted Frank to return to Hogwarts, but I knew he only would if he saw you. Nostalgia, love, friendly and familial ties are great persuaders in the choices we make."
They made it back to the spot they Apparated.
"Back home for me?" Jack questioned.
North put out his arm. "No, your things, along with Baby Tooth, are waiting for you elsewhere." He winked.
Jack grabbed his arm and they Disapparated.
