Anna, Jack, and Rapunzel were on their way to The Three Broomsticks.
Rapunzel was complaining to Jack. "You've been carrying around that book for weeks now and you practically sleep with it, but for some reason you have no need to find out who 'The Half-Blood Prince' is."
"I am curious, Punzie," Jack said. "And I'll have you know, I do not sleep with it!"
"She's not wrong," Anna said in a sing-song way. "You used to talk with me before bed in the commons, but now you go straight to your room with that book."
Rapunzel brought up she went to the library in search of the so called Prince.
"And?" Jack asked.
Rapunzel sighed. "I couldn't find anything on 'The Half-Blood Prince'."
"Search over then," Jack said with a shrug.
They heard Stein talking with Mansnoozie and Toothiana. Stein saying he was hoping to have a drink with them inside The Three Broomsticks, but Toothiana told him there was a choir emergency for her and Mansnoozie. Stein told them good luck and continued his path.
Jack asked the girls, "Anyone in the mood for a Butterbeer?"
As they came into The Three Broomsticks, Jack saw Stein sitting at the bar and made the girls sit with him at a table where he could watch Stein.
Before they sat down, Jack and Hans made eye contact and Hans stormed out of the building.
Rapunzel ordered for the three of them when the waiter came up.
Anna decided to sit next to Jack. When they sat down, Anna saw Elsa and Henry sitting at a corner table.
"Ew," Anna said and turned away from the sight of her sister flirting.
Rapunzel and Jack looked over at the couple.
Jack grunted unpleasantly.
"Oh, please, you two," Rapunzel rolled her eyes, "they're only holding hands."
They looked back at Elsa and Henry to see them kissing.
Rapunzel was slightly shocked. "And making out." She put her top and bottom teeth together with an uncomfortable 'Nnnn' sound.
"I wanna leave," Anna and Jack said.
Rapunzel smacked her forehead and thanked the waiter for bringing their drinks. "You two can't be serious."
Anna stood to leave.
Jack pushed Anna back down into her seat. "I was simply saying I WANTED to leave, not that I'm actually going to," he said, giving Anna a scolding look.
Stein saw them as he was walking about and called out to Jack. "Hey, Jackster!" He came to their table with a wide smile.
Jack quickly stood and shook Stein's hand. "It's good to see you."
"And you!" Stein replied.
"What brings you here?" Jack asked.
"Ah, The Three Broomsticks and I go way back. Further than I care to admit. Hell, I remember when it was just one broomstick."
The two shared a laugh.
Anna and Rapunzel grinned at each other.
When Stein finished laughing, he put his hand on Jack's shoulder and told him, "Listen, back in the day, I used to throw a dinner party for a student or two. Would you join one?"
Jack smiled. "Of course, I would love to."
"Tell the Dunbroch girl that she can come as well."
"Yes, sir."
"Great! Look for my owl!" Stein patted Jack's shoulder, said bye to the girls, and went back to his seat.
When Jack sat back down, Anna asked him what he was doing.
"Uncle North wants me to get to know him."
"Why?" Rapunzel asked.
"No idea," Jack said with a shrug. "But it must be important for Uncle North to have me do it."
Later, as they were walking back to their dormitories, the three Hufflepuffs heard a girl scream in front of them.
They rushed ahead and saw her friend lying on the ground.
"I told her not to touch it!"
The girl's body went side-to-side, as if someone was pushing her around, and then she went high into the air.
Her mouth was open in a silent scream and she fell back to the ground.
"Don't get any closer," Gobber barked as he came up from behind. "Stay back." He went and picked the girl up in his arms.
Jack went to grab the case the girl was carrying.
"Only the wrappings, Jack!" Gobber yelled. "Don't touch anything else."
After being interrogated by Elinor and Munds, the three found out the girl was going to give the cursed necklace to North; and Jack assumed it Hans was behind it all.
That night, Jack was sitting in the commons with Anna, watching Hans with the Marauders Map.
Anna asked, "What do you think, Naveen sees in Elsa?"
Jack mindlessly answered with a question, "What does she see in him?"
"Well, for starters he has dreamy eyes," Anna said.
Jack cut his eyes at her with a grin.
Anna's eyes widened, she panicked and said, "Don't tell Kristoff I said that."
Jack chuckled and reassured her he wouldn't.
"What do you think of him?" Anna asked.
Jack was still looking at the map. "Of who?"
"Henry, Henry Naveen, Jack." Anna giggled. "The guy we've been talking about."
"Oh. Not much."
"What about my sister?"
"She's beautiful."
"Oh, really?" Anna leaned into Jack's peripherals with a smirk.
Jack's eyes widened, he panicked and said, "Don't tell Elsa I said that."
Anna laughed and Jack laughed along.
It was the night of Professor Stein's dinner party.
Everyone was sitting at the round table eating dessert.
After asking Fishlegs and a boy named Snotlout about their families, Stein turned his attention to Jack and Merida.
"I know your fathers work with Muggles," Stein pointed out. "What are their jobs again?"
Jack answered first. "My dad is a hotel manager."
"Mine teaches archery," Merida followed.
"Oh," Stein nodded. "And are those considered dangerous professions?"
The two both said "No".
"However," Merida giggled as she was preparing to tell her story. "There was this boy, Derek McGillin (Prince Derek from Swan Princess), who fired an arrow into me dad's leg." She laughed at her story, but no one laughed along. Merida elbowed Jack in the ribs.
Jack whispered to Merida, "My bad. Hey, I'm just glad you left out the part where his leg got infected and they had to cut it off."
Merida nodded in agreement.
Elsa came into the room, wiping at her eyes.
Stein greeted her, but noticed the redness in Elsa's eyes.
"She's been cryin'," Merida whispered to Jack. "Her and Henry must've been agruin' again."
"I apologize," Elsa said to Stein. "I'm typically on time."
When Elsa went to take her seat, Jack stood and quickly noticed he was the only male doing so.
"That's fine, dear," Stein reassured. "There's plenty of dessert left. Well, that's if Justin hasn't ate all of it." He began chuckling.
Jack gave him a pity smile.
Merida and Stein grinned at Jack.
Jack noticed Merida's grin. "What?" He asked, annoyed.
"Nothing," Merida responded. She turned back ahead and saw Snotlout looking at her with a grin as he sucked the dessert off his fingertips.
Stein said goodbye to all his students as they left after the party, but when he closed the door and turned back to the table he saw Jack was still in the room.
"Jack?"
"I'm sorry; I was just admiring your hourglass." Jack pointed to the magical item.
"Ah. You see, the sand in that very hourglass runs with the quality of the conversation being had. If the conversation is intriguing, the sand runs slow. If not-"
"I should go."
"Why!? What do you have to fear, huh?" Stein chuckled loudly. "Now, your classmates, they won't be making it to the shelf anytime soon."
"'The shelf'?"
Stein motioned over to a shelf of pictures of his previous students. "Anyone wanting to be anyone ends up on my shelf; not to brag, of course." Stein chuckled once more as he went to pour himself a drink.
"Was Drago ever on the shelf?"
Stein was shocked by the question and stopped pouring his drink.
"He was your student once, right? Dustin Babcock."
"As every student, Dustin had many teachers here at Hogwarts."
"What was he like?"
Stein downed his drink.
"I'm sorry," Jack apologized. "He killed my mother."
"You're curious," Stein stated. "Why wouldn't you be? But," he turned to Jack, "I knew him when he was still a quiet young wizard. One who wanted to be great, just like most others; like you and your friends."
Jack look to the ground, nodded and looked back to Stein.
"I wish I could tell you more, but…if there was a monster at that time…it was kept down with flames of passion for greatness and manipulation."
