After saving the Sol Dimension from being taking over by Battra, Kathy the Moth teleported him and herself to Sonic's dimension where she will stay there as her new home dimension and protect it from Battra and from other evil forces. By Battra's meddling, Kathy had crash-landed on Angel Island and was found by Knuckles. But little did he realize that he had found Mothra herself.

Kathy was flying closer and closer towards the western section of Central City. She can see three Megalon monsters destroying buildings and streets. They have been smashing buildings with their Drill Arms and had drilled into the streets with them too.

CRAAAAAAASSSSH! BOOOOOM! CRAAAAAASSSSSHHH! BOOOOOM! BOOOOOM!

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Rubble kept falling from the wrecked buildings and went down to the teared-up streets below. They roared in anger as they felt determined to destroy the whole city.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGHH! AAARRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

Hmm...Busy as usual I see. No matter. These guys won't be doing anything else once I'm through with them. Time to send them back into nothingness where they truly belong! Kathy pondered calmly with a solemn frown as she stared at the Megalon monsters ahead of her. She then smiled a little after that last thought and flew faster towards the monsters.

The Megalon monsters started firing their Beast Killer Laser Beams at the buildings and streets since they were done attacking it with their Drill Arms. Sparks, explosions, and fire were everywhere as the monsters were busy destroying the city.

BOOOOOM! BOOOOOOM! KAAABOOOOM! BOOOOM! KAAABOOOOOM! KAAABOOOOOM! BOOOM!

AAAARRRRREEEEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAARRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! AAARRRRREEEEGGGGHHH!

SCREEEEEEEEEEEE! (HEY!)

The Megalon monsters roared in anger as they kept attacking the city, but they soon stopped attacking once they had heard Kathy's screech. They all turned their heads around and saw Kathy flying towards them in the air. Kathy looked determined as she glared back at the monsters with a solemn frown on her face. She screeched again in her native language.

KIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOO! (STOP!)

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGGHH! AAAARRREEEEEEGGGHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared in response to the new threat approaching them. They raised their Drill Arms into the air and clanked them a bit as they challenged the new opponent to a fight. Kathy smirked when she saw this and had thought confidently. Just as Knuckles had said, it's time for me to show them who's the Queen around here! Let's get this fight started!

The Megalon monsters then started the fight as they fired their Beast Killer Laser Beams at Kathy. Kathy saw this and had dodged quickly by flying downwards to avoid the attacks. She attacked back by firing her yellow energy beams at them. Her beams had hit their chests and stomachs, and thus, sparks and explosions came off from them. The monsters tried again by firing their laser beams at Kathy to attack back. But Kathy dodged again by flying upwards, right, and left as the beams had followed her. She kept dodging and had fired more of her energy beams at the monsters. She had managed to distract them by hitting their heads with her beams. Sparks and explosions came off from their heads as a result of the attacks. The monsters roared again in anger as they were upset that they keep missing their target.

AAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAARRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

SCREEEEEEEEE! KIIIIIOOOOOO! (COME AND GET ME!)

Kathy screeched back in her native language while smiling playfully as she was ready for the monsters' next move. She can see that they had changed tactics by firing their Geothermal Napalm Bullets instead. Kathy kept dodging the attacks gracefully by flying left and right. The bullets had missed her and had hit the buildings behind Kathy instead.

BOOOM! KAAABOOM! BOOOOM! KAAABOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOM! KAABOOOM! BOOOM! BOOM!

Sparks and explosions were everywhere as the bullets keep missing Kathy and had hit the buildings instead.

BOOOM! BOOOOM! KAAABOOOOM! BOOM! KAABOOOOM! BOOOOM! KAABOOOM! BOOOM! BOOM!

SCREEEEEEE! KIIIIOOOOO! (IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?!)

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEEGGGGHH! AAAARRRRREEEEEEGGGHH! AAAARRRREEEEGGGHH!

Kathy screeched again in her native language with a playful smirk, and the Megalon monsters roared in anger after seeing that they had missed their target again. As Kathy had gotten much closer to the monsters, she then took out her Sol Gems and was ready to punch each of them in their stomachs. That's enough playing around for one day! Time to get serious! Kathy thought enthusiastically with a smirk as she flew lower towards one of the monsters' stomachs and was ready to punch it.

"Have a little taste of this!" Kathy exclaimed confidently with a smirk as she flew towards the monster's stomach to punch it.

But as she was about to reach towards the Megalon monster's stomach, the other Megalon monster's Drill Arm had blocked it in front of Kathy out of protection for his comrade. Kathy gasped at this and had punched the Drill Arm instead.

CLANG!

"Owwww!" Kathy yelped in pain as she retracted her fist from the drill and shook it a little. She cringed in pain after punching the silver drill very hard. Even if my punches are more powerful as I control the Sol Gems, they're still susceptible to pain such as hitting hard, cold, silver like these huge drills for instance. Talk about a rough first start. Kathy thought with a grimace as she cringed in pain. As she looked up at the Megalon monster, she then shrieked in surprise when she saw him swinging down his own Drill Arm at her.

"Eeek!" Kathy shrieked in surprise as she quickly flew backwards to avoid the attack. The Megalon monster roared in anger as he had missed his target.

AAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEEGGGGGHHH!

...Okay. Let's try the chest instead. Kathy thought with a frown as a sweat drop formed on her head. She then flew forwards again and went up towards the Megalon monster's chest. But the monster thrust forth both of his Drill Arms in front of himself and started drilling them.

"Ack!" Kathy yelped in surprise when she got close to the Drill Arms and had flown backwards again to avoid the sudden defense block. She then gritted her teeth as she saw that the Megalon monster isn't going to let her attack his stomach or his chest. Well then, I guess that all that's left is the feet! Time to distract this monster! Kathy thought in determination as she smiled a bit.

She then looked down at the monster's feet and had fired her energy beams at them. Sparks and explosions came off from the monster's feet and had set them on fire. The monster roared in pain and had hopped a bit.

SCREEEEEKKK!

Alright! Now, it's time for me to get a hit! Kathy thought with a smirk as she felt prepared to punch the monster again.

But suddenly!

SCREEEEEEEEE! KIIIIOOOOOOOO!

Kathy screeched in pain as she was hit by the Megalon monsters' Beast Killer Laser Beams. Two of the three Megalon monsters had fired their laser beams at Kathy while she was busy attacking their comrade. Kathy was knocked back a bit from the laser attacks and had cringed in pain as sparks and explosions came off from her body and wings.

Argh! I didn't mean that literally! Grrr...That's it! It seems like these two wants to disappear first! Kathy thought in irritation as she gritted her teeth again and glared at the other two Megalon monsters on her left. She shook off the attacks first before flying towards the Megalon monster at the center. But before she could punch the monster's stomach, the Megalon monster beside him had blocked his stomach too with his own Drill Arm.

Oh, you have got to be kidding me! Kathy thought even more in irritation as she stopped before the Drill Arm and glared at the monster before her. She tried to fly up towards the monster's chest, but the other monster's Drill Arm had moved up towards his comrade's chest and protected it too. Grrrrr...Don't do this. Please. Kathy thought in annoyance as she flew in place while glaring at the huge drill in front of her. She flew back down to try to attack the stomach, but the huge drill went down too and had protected it again. She flew back up to the chest, and yet again, the huge drill went back up there too. Kathy flew back and forth at the stomach and the chest just to try to make a punch at either of them, but the huge drill kept moving up and down with her just to protect both.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous now! I just want to get one hit on these guys! Is that too much to ask?! Kathy thought in annoyance as she frowned deeply while she glared at the Megalon monster at her left. She then flew away from the center Megalon monster and had tried to punch the leftmost Megalon monster instead. She was about to punch the monster's stomach until she saw another Drill Arm blocking it instead. Not this time! Kathy thought in determination as she quickly flew upwards towards the monster's chest to punch it very hard. But then to her complete surprise, the Megalon monster fired his Geothermal Napalm Bullets down at her.

SCREEEEEEEEE!

Kathy screeched in pain when she felt the bullets hitting her and had knocked her down from the air. Sparks and explosions came off from her body and wings as she was hit by the bullets. The Megalon monster kept attacking her with bullets until she was knocked down to the ground.

SCREEEEEEEE! KIIIIOOOOOOO!

Kathy screeched even more in pain as she cringed a lot from the attacks. She then crashed down to the hard ground below.

CRAAASSSSH!

"Argh!" Kathy yelped in pain as she felt the hard ground of the street. After cringing some more, she opened her eyes and saw that the three Megalon monsters were looking down at her. The monsters then roared and clanked their Drill Arms in amusement as they saw that their target had been easily defeated.

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRRRREEEEGGGGHH! SCREEEEEKKK!

Grrrr...Don't you even start...Kathy thought in irritation with a grimace as she glared at the three Megalon monsters above her. She then lifted her head up before firing her energy beams at the monsters' feet just to get back at them for humiliating her. Sparks and explosions came off from the monsters' feet as they were hit by the beams. They roared in pain from the fire on their feet and had hopped around a bit.

SCRRREEEEEEKKK! SCRRREEEEEKKK! SCRRREEEEEKKK!

The ground rumbled a bit as the monsters kept hopping.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

As the monsters were distracted, Kathy sat back up and stared at the three monsters with a smile. Good! They're distracted! Now, it's time to truly make some damage here! Kathy thought enthusiastically with a smile as she carefully stood back up after the rumbling had ceased. She can see that the Megalon monsters were now putting out the fire with their own Drill Arms after they had stopped hopping.

"Well now, getting their chests is going to be pretty easy since they're busy putting out the fire. This is my chance!" Kathy said calmly yet enthusiastically with a smile as she flew back up into the air before flying towards the Megalon monsters. However, when she got close to the monsters, they started drilling into the ground to put out the fire. The ground rumbled again, and dirt and debris flew out from the ground below.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

KIIIIOOOOOO?! KIIIOOO?! SCREEEEEE! (SERIOUSLY?! AGAIN?! COME ON!)

Kathy screeched in irritation as the dirt flew into her eyes again and blinded her temporarily. She flew in place as she rubbed her eyes from the dirt. After rubbing her eyes for a bit, she looked and shrieked again as she saw the Megalon monsters slamming down their Drill Arms at her after putting out the fire with the dirt.

"Eeek! Ah! Uh! Wah!" Kathy shrieked and yelped in shock as she flew right and left as well as backwards as she dodged the Drill Arms. The monsters had missed Kathy and had slammed down onto the street instead.

CRRAAAAASH! CRRAAAAAASSSH! CRAAAAAASSSSH! CRRRAAAAAASSSSH! CRRRAAAAASSSH!

This is not working! Fall back! Fall back! Kathy thought in panic as she flew even more backwards after dodging another Drill Arm slamming down towards her.

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGGHHH! AAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! AAARRRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared in anger as they watched their target fly away from them. Kathy soon flew in place again after flying backwards a bit. She rubbed her eyes again to get rid of the rest of the dirt from her eyes. Geez, what is wrong with me?! This shouldn't be this hard! Grrrrr! Ugh. Calm down, Kathy. You won't get anywhere if you keep feeling frustrated. Let's just try a different approach then. Like...attacking their faces! Kathy thought in irritation before in calmness as she relaxed herself by taking deep breaths.

She then focused again as she fired her energy beams at the Megalon monsters' faces. Sparks and explosions came off from the monsters' faces as they were hit by the beams yet again. The monsters roared in anger and in pain of these attacks.

AAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! SCREEEEKKKK! AAAARRRRREEEEEGGGHH! SCREEEKKK! SCREEEKKK!

Kathy ignored their roars and had kept firing her energy beams at them. She looked serious as she focused onto the monsters. She can see that the monsters had tried to attack back by firing their Beast Killer Laser Beams at her. Kathy dodged the attacks by flying either right or left and had kept attacking them with her own beams. More sparks and explosions kept flying off the monsters' faces as they were hit by the energy beams. The monsters still didn't give up attacking back as they kept firing their laser beams at Kathy, but of course, they were ineffective since she kept avoiding them by flying gracefully in the air. The monsters soon gave up attacking Kathy and had decided to defend themselves from the beams by covering their faces with their Drill Arms.

Aha! Now's my chance! Kathy thought excitedly with a grin as she immediately stopped firing her energy beams and had flown very quickly towards the Megalon monster on the left. She had her arms out as she was ready to punch the monster's stomach very hard and very fast. But just when Kathy was very close to punching the monster's stomach, something unexpected had happened!

CLANG!

The Megalon monster at the center had lowered his Drill Arms from his face and had struck Kathy very hard at her right side with his left Drill Arm.

KIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Kathy screeched very loudly in pain as her body was knocked very far away from the Megalon monsters. She cringed a lot from the agonizing pain of that strong attack. Her body had gone towards the right of the monsters and had skidded a lot when she had crashed into the hard ground again.

CRAAAAAAASH! REEEET! REEEEET! REEEEET! REEEEEET! REEEEET!

UGH! OW! OW! OOF! UGH! Kathy thought as she cringed very much in pain as her body skidded a lot on the cement before rolling a bit. She soon stopped rolling and had laid on the ground on her stomach.

"Gnnnnnngh...Uggggn...Grrrruuggghh..." Kathy groaned in agony as she cringed a lot. She had her eyes closed and her teeth gritted as her body was covered with scrapes and bruises. But all those injuries are nothing compared to the unbearable ringing inside her head and her aching right side. She can feel a huge migraine at the right side of her head after being struck hard. She was lucky that her right wing wasn't struck when she got hit. Her wings were flapped upward when she was struck. But other than that, she was in rough shape.

...I...I...Ugh...I don't want to think...Ughh...To painful to do right now...Ugggh...Kathy thought wearily with a grimace as she cringed very much at the horrible pain in her head. She can even feel her Sol Gems giving out its glow as she had refused to focus on them anymore. N-No...P-Please...K-Keep g-glowing...Ugh...J-Just...d-do...it...Ugh...I c-command you...Kathy thought wearily with a grimace as she opened her eyes a bit and stared at her glowing fists. Unfortunately for Kathy, her gems stopped glowing a few seconds later.

"...Ugh...Oh no..." Kathy muttered weakly with a frown as she saw that her gems had stopped glowing. I...I can't even focus onto the gems any longer...My head is killing me right now...Ugggh...Kathy thought wearily with a grimace as she closed her eyes again.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! AAARRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

Uggh...Shut up...Kathy thought weakly as she kept cringing in pain while hearing the Megalon monsters roar again.

AAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAARRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared in victory as they saw that their target is down. They stood back up straight again and had decided to keep attacking the city by smashing more buildings with their Drill Arms.

BOOOOOOM! CRAAAAAASSSSH! CRAAAAAASSSH! BOOOOOM! BOOOOM! CRAAAAASSSSH!

Rubble fell from the wrecked buildings and had landed onto the streets below. Kathy cringed even more in pain after hearing the loud crashing sounds of the rubble falling to the ground. Uggggh...Stop it...Kathy thought in annoyance as she gritted her teeth and had kept her eyes closed. But despite her weak protests, the Megalon monsters kept wrecking the city with their Drill Arms. They had either smashed them or had drilled into them. Kathy had hated the latter whenever they had done that.

CRRRRAAAAAAASSSSH! CRAAAAAAAASSSSH! BOOOOOM! BOOOOM! CRAAAAAAASSSHH!

"Grrrrrr! I HAD ENOUGH OF THIS! Owwwww..." Kathy growled and shouted in irritation before she groaned in pain since her shouting had also hurt her head. Sadly, my Sol Gems can't heal headaches or migraines. Besides, I can't even use the Sol Gems at all when my head is ringing. ...Uggh...Speaking of which...It's a chore to even think at this point. What am I supposed to do now? Kathy pondered weakly as she kept cringing while opening her eyes again and as she had lifted her body up a bit to look at the Megalon monsters at her right. She was still frowning as she saw the monsters destroying more of the city with their Drill Arms. But suddenly, she saw them jumping up into the air before drilling down into the ground in unison and started burrowing into the ground. The ground started rumbling again as a result of them burrowing under the ground.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Aw, great. Now, I can't even try to hit these guys at all since they're underground. Nice going, Kathy. You made your situation even worse than before. Just...ugghh...Just get up before they attack you again...or...whatever...Kathy brooded with a frown before cringing again at the end as she felt more of her migraine. She then slowly pushed her wobbly arms up and had gotten herself into a sitting position again. She briefly lets go of her Sol Gems to rub her aching head. The rumbling kept going as Kathy was trying to soothe her head from her migraine.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

...You know...I would appreciate it if the ground HAD STOPPED SHAKING! Owwww...Ugh...Kathy thought in annoyance before in agony as she cringed again. She looked at her right with a frown on her face and had grimaced when she saw some buildings collapsing due to the Megalon monsters burrowing through the foundations.

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSH! CRRAAAAAAAAAASSSSH! CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSH!

Tall skyscrapers fell towards the ground; roads were being torn apart; and dirt, debris, and smoke were everywhere as the Megalon monsters dug through the ground. Grrrr...Come on, Kathy. Pull yourself together. The fight...is not over yet. Kathy thought calmly with a frown as she looked back at her Sol Gems and grabbed them. She then placed them back into her pendant since she needed her head to rest for a bit before using them again. After she had done that, she tried her best to stand up, but she can't help but to go back to her knees again since the ground is still rumbling.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Uggh...At this rate, I'm going to let the whole city get destroyed if I stay down here any longer. Hmm...What to do? Hmm...Ugggh...The one time I want to think, and yet I can't because of this stupid migraine! Kathy pondered with a frown as she had her hands on the ground before grabbing her right temple again and rubbed it. She then gasped in shock when she felt the ground below her had started to crack and break.

"Forget thinking! Just fly! Fly!" Kathy exclaimed in shock as she quickly flapped her wings and jumped up before flying backwards from the crumbling ground. She cringed again in pain after doing that sudden bit of movement. I know that isn't the smart move to do when having a migraine, but it's an emergency situation. So, I have to do it. ...Uggghh...Even though I don't like it...Kathy pondered with a serious look on her face as she panted a bit before cringing again in pain. She stared at the crumbling ground with a solemn look on her face. She waited for the Megalon monster to show up so that she can attack back...or...at least distract it for a bit while she recovers from her migraine.

...Come on...Come on...Hurry it up already...I'm ready for you...Kathy thought as she focused intensely on the crumbling ground. The ground cracked and broke even more in pieces...until eventually...

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSH!

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEGGGGHHH!

The Megalon monster had drilled up from the ground and had stood over top of the large hole in the ground. Kathy flinched a bit in shock when she saw how close the monster was to her. She quickly flew a bit back from the monster and had attacked him by firing her energy beams at him. Her beams had hit his stomach and chest, and thus, sparks and explosions came off from his body as a result of the attack. The Megalon monster roared in anger as he felt attacked.

AAAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGHHH!

But before Kathy could keep attacking the monster, he then jumped up a bit before burrowing into the ground again.

"Awwww...come on...This is infuriating! I...Ugggghnn..." Kathy complained with an annoyed look on her face before she was cringing again from the migraine. She then looked around to see where the Megalon monster might be next. She looked at the intact streets at her left and the wrecked streets at her right. She saw no signs of crumbling ground anywhere. All she sees is the ground rumbling and nothing else.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Oh, for crying out loud...Just come out already! I don't want to play hide-and-seek with you! I just want you to be gone! Kathy thought in irritation as she gritted her teeth and glared hard at the ground around her as she flew in place. She then started to fly some more into the city since she saw no signs of the monsters being there anymore. She kept looking at her right and left to see where there are some cracked or crumbling ground anywhere. She can see more buildings crashing down to the ground as the monsters dug through them and had followed them for a bit. But she felt frustrated again when there were no falling buildings anymore.

...Okay...I take back at what I had said about the Dark Thoughts. Maybe they're not as stupid as I thought. But then again...they're bound to mess up at some point, right? They should...because if they don't...Kathy pondered with a grimace as she felt frustrated with herself.

"...Then how am I going to defeat them? Ugggh..." Kathy asked quietly with a frown before she grabbed her right temple again as she cringed in pain. She soon heard the ground cracking and crumbling again and focused onto the ground instead. It's about time! Geez! Kathy thought in annoyance as she flew in place and stared at the crumbling ground below her. She had waited for a few moments for the Megalon monster to show up, and...soon enough...

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH!

AAAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEGGGGGHHH!

The Megalon monster roared in anger as he drilled up into the surface and stood over the large hole in the ground. Kathy wasted no time into attacking him with her energy beams. She attacked his face, chest, and stomach as much as possible with her energy beams. Multiple sparks and explosions came off from his body due to the beams hitting him. The Megalon monster roared in anger again after receiving the attacks.

AAAARRRRRRRREEEEEEEGGGGGHHHH!

The Megalon monster then attacked back by firing his Beast Killer Laser Beam at Kathy. Kathy dodged the laser as it followed her and had kept attacking the Megalon monster with her energy beams. More sparks and explosions keep coming out of the monster's body as the beams hit it. The Megalon monster tried attacking again by firing his Geothermal Napalm Bullets at Kathy, but Kathy either dodged them or had counter-attacked them by firing her energy beams at them. Several bullets had exploded after being hit by the beams.

BOOOOOOOM! KAAABOOOOOM! KAAABOOOOOM! BOOOOOM! KAAABOOOOOM! BOOOM!

While Kathy was busy defending herself from the bullets, she hadn't noticed that the other two Megalon monsters had drilled back up into the surface and were standing behind her currently. Kathy smiled a little while still cringing a bit in pain as she saw that she's keeping the Megalon monster busy with her attacks. ...Okay...So far so good...Just keep it up and stall for time until your head feels much bet- Kathy thought with a little smile as she kept firing her energy beams at the Megalon monster before her.

CLANG!

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH!

Just as Kathy had thought that, the two Megalon monsters swung down both of their Drill Arms onto her head and had made her crash down into the hard ground below. She screeched loudly in pain again as she felt those hard swings. She cringed very much in pain as she had landed on her stomach again.

…I just had to jinx it, didn't I? Ugggggghhhh...Ooohhh...Kathy thought weakly as she groaned and cringed in pain. Her head felt bruised after receiving those hard blows on the top of it and the back of it. She slowly raised her hands and grabbed her head as her migraine had tripled in size. Her agonizing pain level was close to a hundred now, and she felt ready to just go to sleep.

...Uggggggghhh...Could this get any worse? Kathy thought in agony as she grimaced.

...Of course, it would get worse. Just what are you even thinking, Kathy? Uggggghhh...Everything goes wrong for you...Kathy thought in annoyance and in agony as she cringed even more. She then weakly rolled herself over on her back and had slowly opened her eyes to see what impending doom that awaits her.

Of course...it is as she had feared.

"...My situation had now officially turned for the worst," Kathy muttered tiredly with a grimace as she saw all three Megalon monsters staring down at her while they surrounded her. She then saw that the monsters had started spinning their Drill Arms and had pointed them down at her.

...Knuckles...If I somehow survive this...I want a hug after this is over. Kathy thought weakly with a grimace before she closed her eyes as she couldn't bear to watch what happens next.

But luckily for her, a miracle had arrived!

A very fast miracle.

SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!

SCRREEEEKKK! SCRREEEEEKKK! SCREEEEKKK!

One by one the Megalon monsters roared in pain after being slammed hard into the stomach and had fallen backwards towards the ground below.

CRAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH!

The Megalon monsters had fallen into some buildings after they had fallen into the ground. They were all confused by what had hit them as they roared again in confusion.

AAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGHH! AAARRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRRRREEEEGGGHHH!

...H-Huh? What happened? Uggghhh...Am I...still alive? Kathy thought weakly with frown as she cringed some more while opening her eyes. She then gasped loudly in shock when she saw Sonic standing before her with his back turned on her. She can see him in a battle position as he stared at the two fallen Megalon monsters before him.

"Sheesh, and I thought Battra could turn this place upside down. But with three huge, monsters here, you're just remodeling the place at this point!" Sonic said with a frown on his serious face as he glared at the Megalon monsters before him.

"S-Sonic?" Kathy muttered weakly with a shocked look on her face as she moved her head up a bit to look at Sonic.

Sonic then stood still and turned his head around to look at Kathy. She looked back at him with curious yet tired eyes as she still felt very exhausted. Sonic stared back at her with a frown before he smiled a little as he asked calmly, "Were you really trying to fight these things alone? Where's Knuckles? Shouldn't he still be here with you since you chose him as your partner?".

Kathy frowned a bit at that as she replied weakly, "Actually...Knuckles is on the other side of the city fighting the other Megalon monsters. Uggh...It was his idea that we should split up and fight these monsters ourselves...".

Sonic chuckled quietly at that and shook his head in amusement. "Heheheheh...Of course, he did. That Knucklehead. Heheheheheh...Never the brightest in decision-making..." Sonic replied with a smile as he chuckled a bit.

"Wait. Huh? You mean that...he had made a bad decision?" Kathy asked in confusion as her eyes went wide and as her mouth went agape.

Sonic chuckled even harder after hearing that innocent reply. He covered his mouth with his hand as he chuckled a lot. Hahahahahahah...Oh, they're so perfect for each other. It's adorable. Hahahahaha...Sonic thought in amusement as he chuckled.

"Huh? Hey! What's so...uggh...funny?" Kathy replied in confusion as she frowned and cringed a little in pain.

"Hahahahaha...Kathy? Heheheheh...Tell me...Do you think that this is a good idea? Hahahaha...You lying on your back while looking very tired and defeated? Well, is it?" Sonic asked calmly while chuckling a bit at times as he removed his hand and put it out instead as a gesture. He also had a hand on his hip as he said that.

Kathy then frowned a lot at this and had replied sadly, "Well...No. It's not. If it wasn't for you saving me, I would be drilled down into the ground with my guts and blood all over the place".

Sonic cringed a bit after hearing that last part of her answer. He smiled even more in amusement after that and replied calmly, "See? Not a very fun situation now, isn't it?".

"Uh uh..." Kathy answered meekly with a head shake for emphasis.

Sonic then smiled warmly at her as he turned his body around and bent down to give Kathy a hand. Kathy lifted her body up a bit before grabbing Sonic's hand. Sonic then carefully helped Kathy up back to her feet and had patted her back after he had helped her get back up. Kathy looked at Sonic with a weak smile and had replied quietly, "Thank you...".

"Hey, anytime, Kathy," Sonic replied quietly with a smile as he held her back a bit before letting go of her.

AAAARRRREEEEEEGGGGGHHHH! AAAARRRRRREEEEGGGGHHH! AAARRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared again as they struggled to get up but kept going back to the ground on their backs. Sonic and Kathy looked at the monsters for a bit before looking at each other and smiled in amusement.

"So, let me guess, these things are the Dark Thoughts, right?" Sonic asked calmly with a smile as he pointed at the Megalon monsters for emphasis.

"That's correct, Sonic. The Dark Thoughts are replicas of the kaiju monsters of the past. This kaiju monster is Megalon. He's another bug monster like me," Kathy answered calmly with a smile as she looked back at the fallen Megalon monsters.

"Ah. Gotcha. But wow, I didn't imagine that the Dark Thoughts would look so ugly! I mean! Look at those colors! They're about as bad as Battra's!" Sonic replied calmly yet playfully as he joked a bit with a smile while he looked at the Megalon monsters too.

"Hehehehehe...Owww...Ohhh...Heh. I would giggle some more, but...uggh...this migraine is killing me right now..." Kathy giggled a bit before she replied weakly with a small smile while cringing in pain again as she grabbed her head and rubbed it.

"Oh, uh, are you okay, Kathy? You do look pretty banged up the more I look at you. Not doing too well on your fight?" Sonic replied in concern as he looked at Kathy and frowned a bit in worry.

Kathy frowned sadly as she looked down at the ground. She answered in a sad tone while holding her head, "...No. ...I'm not. I didn't even punch either of them just once. They keep blocking my attacks, knocking me down with their attacks, and burrowing underground to avoid getting hurt by me. I barely done any progress on my own so far. And...And...".

She frowned even deeper as she added, "...And I'm starting to doubt my own fighting capabilities. Sure, I may be powerful...and had trained extensively to fend for myself...But...maybe what I had gone through just wasn't enough. Perhaps I had rushed through my training and had lied to myself that I was ready when in actuality I was not. But then again...the...the only reason that I had done that was because...because...".

She trailed off and looked very sad when she had remembered her mother again.

[Eight Years Ago]

"Are you sure that you want to do this, Kathy?" Klara asked calmly with a worried look on her face as she looked down at her daughter. Klara and Kathy were in the Sacred Springs while standing under a huge tree.

"Of course, I am! Teach me, mother! Teach me how to fight!" Kathy, the six-year-old, brown larva, exclaimed brightly with a determined look on her face as she put her fists up while staring back at her mother.

"Kathy...I must say that I'm rather surprised. You had never showed any interest in fighting before. Why do you want to learn it now of all times?" Klara replied calmly yet elegantly with a hand on her chin while frowning a bit in concern. Her interest was piqued the moment Kathy had told her that she wants to learn to fight. She had no idea what had spurred this on in her daughter's mind suddenly. So, she decided to investigate by asking her daughter more questions.

"Because..." Kathy muttered sadly with a frown as she continued with a sad look on her face, "...Because...every time I see you when you come back...you just look so terrible with all those bruises and cuts. You keep saying that it's no big deal and that you can handle it, but in the next moment, you hold your head or body and groan in pain. You keep saying that you need to rest and that you don't want to be bothered for the rest of the day...And...I think that I can see why you need to do that...".

"...Oh...Oh, dear. You... do, my dear daughter?" Klara replied quietly yet calmly in concern as she frowned sadly too.

Kathy nodded slowly and put her arms down to her sides. She looked down to the ground as she replied sadly, "I...I do, mother. You...You...You always get beaten up by that mean man, Battra! It's all because of him that you get hurt, isn't it, mother?!".

Klara gasped in shock after hearing her daughter boldly stating that. She covered her mouth with her hand and looked even more concerned. She can see the tears in her daughter's eyes as she had continued, "...You always come back home while feeling terribly hurt. You said that you have to leave and fight Battra every day. But you had never told me how you got hurt along the way! I...I had felt so worried for you every time you show up looking horrible and hurt. I...I...I didn't like it whenever I see you like that. I had hated it! I hated that you look so hurt and in pain every day every time you come back home. I...I...I just...I just wish that it wasn't the case...(Sniff)…".

Klara felt so concerned yet touched by Kathy's words that she had knelt towards her daughter and held her shoulders. She gently rubbed her daughter's shoulders while replying softly, "...Oh, Kathy. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you. I just...didn't want to distress you and make you worry about me".

"But why?! Why did you have to hide it?! Why did you have to hide your pain from me?! I...I...I just wanted to help you!" Kathy exclaimed in upset as she looked at her mother with tears in her eyes.

"Kathy...I understand that you want to help me. Your heart is in the right place, but...there is nothing much that you can do about it. It's just the way it is. That's the price you have to pay for sacrificing yourself to save the world," Klara replied gently with a sad frown as she looked sympathetic to her daughter.

"But...But...Why do you always have to do it alone?! Let me join you so that I can fight with you in your battles!" Kathy exclaimed in determination as more tears went down.

"..." Klara looked speechless at this after hearing Kathy say that. She understood now why her daughter wants to learn to fight, but...she would never had guessed that it would be for her sake. "Kathy...I..." Klara muttered softly with a frown as her eyes sparkled in concern.

"...(Sniff)...Please, mother. I beg of you. Please teach me how to fight. I...I...I just don't want you to suffer anymore on your own. I don't care if I would get hurt. I don't care that it's going to be tough. And...I don't care if it's going to be dangerous! All...(Sniff)...All I care about is you, mommy. I want you to be safe, and I want to be at your side as you fight that bad man, Battra. He's going to pay for hurting you so much and making you miserable! (Sniff)…...(Sob Sob Sob Sob Sob)…" Kathy replied sadly with a sad look on her face as she held onto her mother's shoulders before hugging her as she cried a lot.

"Kathy...Sweetie..." Klara muttered softly with a sad look on her face as she hugged her daughter back. She wrapped her beautiful wings around Kathy as she hugged her tightly yet warmly. She let Kathy cry as much as she wanted to while she soothed her with gentle words. "It's okay, Kathy. Shhh...It's going to be alright," Klara soothed gently with a sad frown as she rubbed her daughter's back.

"...(Sniff)…P-Please, mommy. (Sob Sob Sob)…Please let me fight. I...I...(Sob Sob Sob)...I love you! (Sob Sob Sob Sob Sob)…" Kathy pleaded with all her heart as she cried a lot.

"...I love you too, sweetie. I love you very, very much. And...(Sniff)...Thank you...Thank you for caring about me, Kathy. You're...(Sniff)...You're so sweet. I just know that you're going to grow up into a sweet, kind, young lady just like yours truly," Klara replied gently in a whisper while sniffing a bit as a few tears went down.

"...(Sniff)...W-Well? Are you...(Sniff)...Are you going to teach m-me how to f-fight?" Kathy asked sadly as she sniffed a bit.

"..." Klara was silent as she closed her eyes as some tears fell still. She pondered wisely at this with a little smile on her face. My...My daughter...She's growing up so fast. She certainly has become perceptive lately. I guess that there is no reason for me to keep hiding my pain from her. If she could figure out the truth about my injuries, then...I'm sure that someday she'll figure out the truth behind the Sol Pendant and...the truth between me...and Battra. I know she will. She's a smart girl.

"...(Sniff)...Mommy? Did you listen to me? Are you going to-?" Kathy asked curiously as she sniffed a bit while calming down her tears.

"Yes, Kathy. I will teach you. I will teach you how to fight," Klara answered calmly with a smile as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She then pulled Kathy away a bit and had wiped her eyes too. She can see that huge smile on her daughter's face as she wiped her tears.

"You...You will?!" Kathy asked excitedly with a huge smile.

"I most certainly will," Klara replied calmly yet elegantly with a warm smile and a nod.

"Yay! Oh! Can you even teach me how to use the Sol Pendant too?! You also fight Battra by using that thing, right?! I want to fight Battra with that thing too!" Kathy exclaimed excitedly with a huge smile as she lets go of her mother and had her fists out in front of her again.

"Oh...Uhh...I'm...I'm not sure if you would want that, dear. Protecting and using the Sol Pendant is an important duty to fulfill. I certainly don't want to force you into protecting something that you have no interest in-" Klara replied calmly yet awkwardly with a frown as she looked worried.

"But I want to protect it! I want to help you, mommy! If I can protect and control the pendant correctly, then you won't have to worry about it being taken by Battra! You can just focus into fighting him and not on it instead!" Kathy exclaimed brightly with a smile as her eyes twinkled.

Klara looked surprised by this as her eyebrows were raised and as her mouth was agape. She had never thought that Kathy would ever want to protect her very own pendant. She had thought that she was going to be the only one protecting the pendant ever. She had no intentions of passing it down to her daughter when she's gone for good. She just wanted her daughter to be free and make her own choices in life. But if she's that serious and determined, then...who am I to say "no"? As her mother, I must always respect the wishes of my children and what they want to do for themselves. Klara pondered wisely with a gentle smile.

"If that is your wish, Kathy, then I expect you to work hard and do your best to learn about the Sol Pendant. It's very important, you know," Klara replied calmly yet gently with a warm smile as she rubbed her daughter's head gently.

Kathy beamed at this and had nodded her head solemnly. With a determined look on her face, Kathy pointed at her mother and had boldly declared, "Don't worry, mother! I WILL work hard! I'm going to become the best guardian that you had ever seen! I'll do my best to be a worthy heir to your Sol Pendant! The next Guardian of the Sol Pendant is going to be me! I swear it!".

"So, you promise that you're going to be 'the best'?" Klara asked with a smile as she looked amused at this.

Kathy then smiled cheerfully as she exclaimed brightly," I promise, mother! You're going to train the strongest, powerful guardian in the world! As we fight alongside each other, Battra has no chance against us! As long as we're together, we'll be unstoppable!".

[Back To Present Day]

"...(Sniff)…'Unstoppable'..." Kathy muttered softly as she sniffed. Lots of tears went down on her face as that last part of her memory replayed repeatedly. …(Sniff)...It's not fair. It's so not fair. I've trained as hard as I could. Mastered my moves like nobody's business. I even proved to my mother that I am prepared to handle the Sol Pendant. I did all that hard work...all that training...and for what? …...Just to fight these battles alone...without my mother by my side...(Sniff)...It's so ironic. So ironic that it's bitter. I wanted to fight alongside my mother because I don't want her to fight Battra and his Dark Thoughts alone...But then...she...she died. She died...and...I...I ended up being the one fighting Battra alone...Without anybody helping me...(Sniff)...It's so not fair. Why? …Why did it had to be like this? Why do I have to be on my own? Why do I...have to be so lonely? …(Sniff)...It's just not fair! I hate it! I hate this! And I hate that...Kathy brooded with a grimace as she closed her eyes and cried softly.

"...(Sob Sob Sob)...I hate that I can't even beat these monsters on my own...(Sniff)…" Kathy muttered softly as she cried quietly.

"...Kathy..." Sonic muttered softly with a frown as he placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it gently.

"It's so pathetic! (Sob Sob Sob)...I'm having trouble defeating one of the easiest enemies that Battra has! (Sob Sob Sob)...It's not supposed to be this hard! And yet here I am...(Sob Sob Sob)...making it much harder than it is! I'm so stupid! (Sob Sob Sob)…" Kathy yelled in frustration as she cried much louder.

"Kathy! You're not stupid! You're probably just having some bad luck!" Sonic exclaimed in concern as he frowned sadly while he looked at Kathy.

However, Kathy ignored this as she kept ranting and berating herself while making some arm gestures, "It's all about 'block this' and 'block that' with these guys! They're even like 'Hey! Eat dirt, you stupid, weak moth! You can't even hit us if you got dirt in your eyes!' And my 'favorite' part is when they SMASH my head as if it was a bouncy ball! I might as well be a ball because that's how good I am lately! Just a worthless ball that gets knocked around everywhere! I just-!".

"Kathy! Snap out of it!" Sonic yelled seriously with a frown as he shook Kathy's shoulder a lot to get her attention.

"...!…Y-Yes? …(Sniff)…" Kathy muttered weakly with a gasp and with a sniff. She looked at Sonic with tears in her eyes.

Sonic grimaced as he saw Kathy's tears. Poor Kathy. She really must've had a hard time with these monsters if she's acting like this. She really needs some encouragement. Sonic pondered with a frown as he turned fully at Kathy and had started to wipe her eyes with his thumbs.

"...Just calm down, Kathy. Relax. Take some good, deep breaths," Sonic advised calmly yet solemnly with a frown as he wiped Kathy's tears.

"...(Sniff)...O-Okay..." Kathy muttered weakly with a frown as she nodded her head. She then faced Sonic fully before taking some deep breaths. As she breathed deeply, she listened to Sonic carefully.

"There we go. Now, listen closely, Kathy. Just because you're having trouble with something like beating up these monsters for example, that does not mean that you're stupid or weak. You are neither of those things. You probably did the best that you could on your own but are having problems because things aren't going the way that you wanted to," Sonic replied wisely with a solemn look on his face as he continued wiping Kathy's eyes until they are gone.

"...(Sniff)…" Kathy was silent mostly but had sniffed a bit.

"Look...Not every fight is going to be easy or doable. Things can still go wrong; mistakes can still be made; and unexpected predicaments may arise when you're busy fighting somebody. Take it from me, Kathy. Not all fights that I had gone through in the past had been easy for me," Sonic continued calmly yet wisely with a frown.

"..." Kathy was still quiet yet had listened attentively to Sonic's speech.

Sonic then smiled gently as he continued his speech, "...But that's why I rely on my friends to help me out. With them on my side, no challenge is too great for me to handle. Sure, I may have beaten some enemies on my own, but my friends were still with me in my heart as I had battled alone. And if I am struggling with my opponents...I...I can always count on my friends to get me out of a jam".

"..." Kathy was still speechless as she stared at Sonic with sparkling eyes. …"F-Friends"? Kathy thought in shock as she kept staring at Sonic in silence.

Sonic then rubbed Kathy's shoulders while finishing his speech gently with a warm smile, "...And you're not alone, Kathy. You finally have friends on your side. I'm here at your side, and...".

He then winked at Kathy as he added, "...I'm willing to battle these creeps with you, Kathy. We'll stop them together!".

"...!" Kathy gasped in shock when Sonic had said that last part. …"T-Together?" ...Just like...what I had...originally wanted from...my...my...mom? Kathy thought in shock as she stared at Sonic with twinkling eyes.

"...As long as we're together, we'll be unstoppable!"

"...We'll stop them together!"

...Mother...You still are with me...Even though...you are gone...Your spirit is protecting me...You just...You just know that I was struggling and had sent Sonic here to help me out in my battle. You really are looking out for me. Even beyond the grave...Kathy pondered with a little smile as her eyes twinkled some more in relief.

"...Sonic...Thank you..." Kathy whispered softly with a little smile as she gently hugged him in relief.

Sonic smiled warmly at this and had hugged her back gently. With little, flushed cheeks, he replied calmly, "You're welcome, Kathy. And remember, it's going to be alright. I'm here now, and I'm ready to help you".

"Hehe! I know!" Kathy exclaimed brightly with a giggle as she held Sonic gently before pulling apart from him. Sonic smiled even wider after seeing Kathy's cute smile again. Awww...Now, that's better. Sonic thought in amusement as he put his hands on his hips again.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEGGGGHHH! AAARRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! AAARRRRRRREEEEGGGHHH!

Sonic and Kathy turned their heads around at the monsters after hearing them roar angrily again. They soon looked shocked when they saw them standing up now and looking ready to fight them. They turned their heads behind themselves and saw that the single Megalon monster is also standing up with his comrades. Sonic and Kathy then looked solemn again as they prepared their bodies for battle.

"Say, Sonic?" Kathy asked tentatively.

"Yes, Kathy?" Sonic asked back curiously yet solemnly with a frown.

"How did you knock down these guys again? I had my eyes closed when it had happened," Kathy replied solemnly with a frown.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. I used my Power Ring to go into my Spinball Form and had knocked into their stomachs with that," Sonic answered calmly with a frown as he looked at Kathy.

Kathy smiled at that as she looked at Sonic while asking, "Well, if that's the case, then could you do it again? We need some time to get away before these bugs squish us".

Sonic smirked at that as he replied playfully, "Heh. I always love giving an encore to a captive audience! Stand back, Kathy! You're going to see an instant replay!".

Sonic then grabbed his Power Ring and held it tightly in his hand. Kathy gasped in shock when she saw the ring glowing brightly in his hand. Wow! I didn't think that little ring could glow bright like that! That's amazing! Kathy thought in shock as she smiled a lot at that.

She then saw Sonic going into his famous Spinball Form and spun upwards towards one of the two Megalon monsters in front of them. Kathy exclaimed brightly with a grin, "Cool!".

However, just as Sonic was about to hit the monster's stomach, the monster then blocked his stomach with his Drill Arm.

CLANG!

"Yow!" Sonic yelped in pain as he struck the Megalon monster's Drill Arm with his head.

"Well, at least I feel better knowing that I wasn't the only one who got blocked," Kathy commented casually with a frown as she looked at Sonic with a sweat drop on her head.

Sonic had bounced back from the drill and had landed back to where he once was. "Okay...That wasn't how it went last time! Let's try that again!" Sonic said in annoyance as he frowned at this. He gripped onto his Power Ring and went into his Spinball Form again. He spun right back up and had gone towards the other Megalon monster instead. But just when he was about to hit the monster's stomach, the monster swung his Drill Arm at Sonic and knocked him away.

CLANG!

"Owwwwww!" Sonic yelped loudly in pain as his Spinball was knocked back towards the hard ground below.

"Oooohh...I felt that one," Kathy muttered weakly as she cringed after seeing that.

CRAAAAAAASSSSHHH!

Sonic crashed down onto the hard ground on his back. He groaned in pain as he opened his eyes to see what's happening now. He grimaced when he saw the two Megalon monsters staring down at him with their huge, red, bug eyes. You know...this wasn't how my "encore" was supposed to turn out. Ugh. Now, I'm screwed. Sonic brooded with a grimace as he watched the Megalon monsters starting to spin their large drills.

"Sonic! Hang on! I'm coming!" Kathy exclaimed in panic as she quickly flapped her wings and flew towards Sonic.

CRAAAAAAAAAASSSSHHH!

Immediately, after Kathy flew away from her spot, the Megalon monster behind her had smashed the ground with his Drill Arm. Kathy looked back briefly and sighed in relief. Whew! Talk about good timing! I completely forgot about the Megalon monster at the back! Good thing I had reacted fast enough or else Sonic and I would be in huge trouble! And that's putting it lightly! Kathy thought in shock and in relief as she looked back before her. She gasped in shock as she saw the two Megalon monsters raising their Drill Arms up as they were ready to drill Sonic down into the ground. She frowned solemnly at this as she thought.

Time to repay Sonic the favor for rescuing me!

Kathy then fired her energy beams at the monsters' feet to distract them for a bit. The Megalon monsters then hopped a lot as their feet were on fire. They roared in pain as sparks and explosions came off from their feet.

SCREEEEEKKKK! SCREEEEEKKK!

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

The Megalon monsters had unintentionally made the ground rumble again as they were hopping around. Sonic smirked a little at this as he thought. Great job, Kathy. You're back in the fight now.

Kathy then quickly flew above Sonic before grabbing his waist and carrying him over her left shoulder. Sonic quickly held Kathy back around her shoulders and smiled weakly at this. "Hang on, Sonic! We're getting out of here!" Kathy exclaimed solemnly with a frown as she quickly turned around and flew away from the three Megalon monsters.

CRAAAAAAASSSHHH! CRRRRAAAAAAAAASSSSHHH!

The two Megalon monsters had stopped hopping and had tried to smash Kathy and Sonic with their Drill Arms. But they had missed and had smashed the ground instead. Sonic looked at the monsters and smiled at that failed attempt. "Ha! They're too slow!" Sonic exclaimed teasingly with a grin.

AAAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH!

The three Megalon monsters roared in anger as they had missed their little targets. Kathy smiled in amusement as she looked at Sonic while she joked, "Sonic, what did you do? You made them angry".

"No truer words have ever been spoken, Sonic! Hehehehe!" Kathy replied happily with a giggle as she smiled a lot. Sonic smiled back as he watched her giggle and smile a lot. Heheheheh...Kathy is really lucky to have a guy like Knuckles to fall for her. He really would do anything to get her to giggle and smile a lot. And who can blame him? ...Heh...She looks very adorable whenever she does that. Sonic pondered calmly with a huge smile as he stared at Kathy.

Kathy soon stopped flying forward and had descended towards the empty street below. She landed her feet onto the ground and had placed Sonic down on his feet. Sonic lets go of Kathy and had smiled brightly at her.

"Thanks for the save, Kathy! I owe you one!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin as he put his hands on his hips again.

"Nah, you don't owe me anything, Sonic. I already repaid you for saving my life. Remember?" Kathy replied calmly with a head shake as she grinned back at Sonic.

"Oh, uh, heh, yeah. I forgot," Sonic replied awkwardly with a sheepish grin as he scratched his head a bit.

Kathy smiled calmly before looking serious as she stared at the Megalon monsters ahead of her. "Get ready, Sonic. They're coming," Kathy commanded calmly with a frown as she pointed at the Megalon monsters for emphasis.

Sonic turned around and had frowned too as he saw the Megalon monsters walking towards them in the distance. The monsters roared again in anger as they slowly approached their opponents.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAARRRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

"Okay, Kathy. What are these monsters like?" Sonic asked solemnly with a frown as he prepared his body for battle again.

"The Megalon monsters usually attack with those huge drills. They can use them to drill into the ground and burrow underground with them too. But they also attack by firing their lasers and their projectiles at us from a distance," Kathy answered solemnly with a frown as she stood still.

"Got it! Okay! Here we g-!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin as he was about to run towards the monsters before he was held back by Kathy.

"Wait!" Kathy exclaimed quickly with a frown as she grabbed Sonic by the shoulder and looked at him.

"What now?" Sonic asked in slight annoyance as he looked back at Kathy.

"Just...don't attack their backs. Knuckles had learned that the hard way," Kathy added tiredly with a frown as her eyelids went down halfway.

Sonic raised his eyebrows at that last sentence. But he smiled and nodded in understanding as he replied calmly, "Well, when you put it that way, I won't attack their backs then. I don't want to end up like a Knucklehead too. Thanks, Kathy. You're the best!".

Kathy smiled at that too as she replied calmly, "You're welcome, Sonic. Now, go get them while I rest for a bit. I still need to recover from my injuries".

"Huh? Couldn't you just use your Sol Pedant to heal yourself from them? Or should I say 'soothe' the wounds for a bit?" Sonic asked curiously with a frown.

Kathy frowned and shook her head "no" as she answered calmly, "Unfortunately, no, I cannot. The Healing Technique doesn't soothe headaches or migraines. I mean. I have to use my mind in order to activate the gems, and believe me when I say this, it's like hitting a huge rock when you try that with a migraine going on".

Sonic cringed after hearing that last part. "Oof...Okay. Point taken. Don't worry, Kathy. I'll take over from here. Just back me up whenever I'm stuck or in trouble. Okay?" Sonic replied calmly with a frown as he looked serious yet understanding while he nodded a bit.

"Okay. Thanks again, Sonic. Stay safe now," Kathy replied gently with a smile as she lets go of Sonic's shoulder and nodded her head at him.

Sonic smiled and winked at Kathy as he gave her his usual thumbs-up. "Will do! Now, let's take care of these suckers!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin before he sped off towards the Megalon monsters ahead of him. Kathy waved "goodbye" at Sonic while thinking calmly. I think that it is a good idea to rest for a bit. I got to save my energy in case I run into Battra. With the Dark Thoughts being here, there's a huge possibility that he's here too. So, I need all the energy that I can get to stop him. I hope that Sonic could stop these monsters. I need some kind of vengeance after how they had beaten me. They deserved it.

Sonic was running as fast as he could towards the Megalon monsters. He smirked as he taunted them by saying, "Hey! Bug freaks! It certainly wasn't nice hurting poor Kathy like that! You guys need to apologize to her! And I'll help you do that by humbling you guys down!".

AAAARRRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRRRRRREEEEGGGHHH! AAAARRREEEEEEGGGHHH!

The monsters roared in anger in response to this. Sonic smirked even wider as he taunted playfully again, "What? You don't want to apologize? Well, if you feel that way, then I guess you won't mind if I make you feel sorry then! Heh!".

The Megalon monsters clanked their Drill Arms a bit before spinning them again as they were ready for battle. Sonic looked confident as he held onto his Power Ring tightly in his hand. He saw the monsters slamming down their Drill Arms into the ground and started drilling into the ground. And that's my cue to get up from the floor! Sonic thought with a cocky smirk as he jumped up high before going into his Spinball Form. The ground below Sonic had started rumbling again as the monsters drilled into the ground in unison.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Sonic spun towards the leftmost Megalon monster while he was busy drilling into the ground. Since the monster was distracted, Sonic had easily hit his face very hard with his Spinball attack and had managed to knock him down on the ground.

The Megalon monster roared in pain from that surprise attack. The other two Megalon monsters stopped drilling the ground when they heard their comrade's roars. Sonic was still up high into the air and had stared down at the fallen Megalon monster below. He smirked in cockiness as he immediately went down towards the monster by going into his Spinball Form again. He then slammed down onto the monster's stomach and had spun into it as hard as he can. The monster roared in pain as he was being attacked.

"Aww, having a little 'tummy ache'? Heheheh!" Sonic taunted playfully with a smirk as he kept spinning at the large stomach.

AAAAAARRRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRRREEEEGGGHHH!

"Hmm? Your friends are going to help your 'stomach problems' instead? I'll be happy to let them lend you a hand!" Sonic joked playfully with a smirk as he stopped spinning and stood on the monster's stomach instead. He stood confidently with his legs bent while looking up at the two Megalon monsters before him. The Megalon monsters stood by at their comrade and had clanked their Drill Arms a bit at Sonic. Sonic was ready to dodge as he had a confident smirk on his face. He soon saw one of the Megalon monsters swinging their Drill Arms at him and had immediately jumped out of the way.

The Megalon monster missed Sonic and had slammed hard onto his comrade's stomach instead. His comrade roared in pain in response of the attack.

"Ha ha! You missed!" Sonic taunted playfully with a grin as he looked at the two Megalon monsters.

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH!

The other, standing, Megalon monster roared angrily at this. He turned towards Sonic and had charged up his silver horn before firing his Geothermal Napalm Bullets at him. Sonic saw the bullets and had dodged them quickly by speeding towards different spots on the ground. Multiple explosions had occurred as the bullets hit the ground instead.

BOOM! KAAABOOM! BOOOM! KAAABOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! KAABOOOM! BOOM! BOOOOM!

Smoke and fire were the results of the bullets hitting the street. Sonic just stood confidently with his hands on his hips and had stared up at the Megalon monster in the distance.

"Ha ha ha! And you missed A LOT! Come on! Is that all you got?!" Sonic taunted playfully with a smirk.

The two, standing, Megalon monsters looked at each other and nodded before looking back at Sonic. They soon fired their Beast Killer Laser Beams at Sonic, and Sonic quickly turned around and sped off before the laser beams had hit him.

KAABOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM! KAAABOOOOM! KAAABOOOM! KAAABOOOOM! BOOOM! BOOM!

Sparks and explosions had come off from the ground as both laser beams had hit it instead of Sonic. The beams kept destroying the street while trying to catch up to Sonic. Sonic looked back and had smirked in cockiness as he saw the lasers getting close to him but not quite. Heheheheh...I have to admit. These monsters sure know how to wreck the place in style! That's for sure! I can't help but have a little fun while doing this! Sonic thought in amusement as he stared at the lasers blowing the ground up a lot.

"Come on, guys! Hustle! Hustle! Hustle! I'm getting away from you!" Sonic taunted with a playful smile as he looked back at the monsters.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared in frustration as they saw that they couldn't hit their fast target. So, they changed tactics by jumping up high and...starting fly forward towards Sonic by using their large wings. They soon flew very fast and had started firing their Beast Killer Laser Beams again at Sonic.

"Alright! Now, that's what I'm talking about!" Sonic exclaimed cockily with a smirk as he looked back and saw the Megalon monsters catching up to him in the air. Wow! Kathy didn't tell me that they can fly! Heh! Things are starting to get interesting now! Sonic thought in amusement. He then sped up and ran even faster to get ahead from the surprisingly fast Megalon monsters. The monsters kept firing their laser beams at Sonic and had blew up more ground and buildings instead of him.

KAABOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM! KAAABOOOOM! KAAABOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! KAABOOOM!

More sparks and explosions came from the ground and buildings as the Megalon monsters attacked haphazardly at Sonic. But Sonic kept dodging by going left and right while going forward. Sonic felt a little cockier as he playfully exclaimed, "Heh! Follow me!".

He then made a left turn and went towards a different street. The Megalon monsters followed as they turned left too. They didn't stop attacking as they chased Sonic throughout the streets.

Meanwhile, Kathy was stunned as she watched Sonic battling the Megalon monsters. She was impressed on how Sonic had taken down the one Megalon monster and had dodged effortlessly at the monsters' attacks. She then said to herself with a stunned look on her face, "Wow, I didn't know that Sonic could be that bold and daring like that. Well, that explains why he had tried battling Battra yesterday. With that kind of speed and power, he could take out a ton of enemies with ease".

She then smiled sheepishly as she rubbed her head while pondering. And here I thought that Blaze and Knuckles were the only two, boldest heroes that I know. Now, there's three.

Meanwhile, Sonic was having a ball dodging the monsters' laser beams. He looked back quickly to make a silly face to taunt them before running even faster. The Megalon monsters roared in anger again as they still can't hit the fast target.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGHHH! AAAARRRRRREEEEGGGHHH!

They instead fired their Geothermal Napalm Bullets at Sonic to try to kill him. But again, Sonic kept dodging the attacks by running left or right. The bullets hit the ground instead, and more explosions came out of the ground.

BOOOOOM! KAABOOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! KAABOOOM! BOOM! KAABOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!

"Boy, you guys sure love making 'fireworks'! Hahaha!" Sonic taunted with a smirk as he ran further from the Megalon monsters and had made a right turn. He was back at the street where the third Megalon monster had lain and saw that the monster was still on the ground while struggling to get up. And now it's time for them to say "goodbye" to their friend! Sonic thought in determination as he went into his Spinball Form and spun towards the fallen Megalon monster.

He soon reached the Megalon monster's stomach and had spun into it again. The Megalon monster roared in pain as his stomach was hit hard by Sonic's Spinball attack.

Sonic kept spinning faster into the stomach while the other two, flying Megalon monsters catch up to him. Almost...there...Sonic thought with a smirk as he looked at the two Megalon monsters while spinning fast into the stomach. But then to Sonic's surprise, the Megalon monster below him had combusted into dark particles and disappeared completely.

POOF!

"Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed in shock as he went through the monster as he disappeared into dark particles. Sonic quickly landed onto his feet and stared at the ground in shock. Kathy didn't tell me that they could disappear like that either! Is this a sign that they're gone? I really hope so. Sonic pondered with a frown on his shocked face.

AAAARRRRRRREEEEGGGGHHH! AAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH!

Sonic turned his head up to look at the Megalon monsters coming down towards him while roaring angrily and spinning their large drills at him. Sonic smirked again as he thought. Kathy can tell me the answers later! For now, it's fun time!

"Hey, guys! Want some action here?!" Sonic taunted playfully with a smirk as he waved his arms at the two Megalon monsters.

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEGGGGHHH! AAARRRREEEEGGGGHHH!

The Megalon monsters roared again as they dived down towards Sonic. Sonic looked at them and smirked playfully as he replied teasingly, "Heh. It seems that you do!".

He then immediately ran away from the Megalon monsters before they smashed the ground and burrowed into the ground.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

The monsters made the ground rumble a lot as they burrowed into it. Sonic skidded to a stop after he felt the rumbling. Whoa boy! Things are really getting bumpy now! Good thing that Kathy had warned me about this or else I would've tripped! Sonic thought with a frown as he stood more firmly while looking around for where the Megalon monsters will show up. The ground kept rumbling, and some buildings fell as the monsters dug through the foundations.

CRAAAAAAAAASSSSHHH! CRAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH! CRRAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH! CRAAAAASSSSHH!

Sonic then noticed some buildings falling towards him and had jumped a bit away from them to dodge them.

Sheesh, they're bringing the whole city down! How am I going to attack them now if they're still underground? No wonder Kathy had a hard time with these guys. Now, I'm the one having trouble. Sonic pondered with a frown on his solemn face as he kept looking around the area while the ground rumbled.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

"...H-Huh?! Hey!" Sonic exclaimed in shock as he felt the ground cracking and crumbling underneath his feet. He quickly jumped away from the crumbling ground, and the moment he did that, a Megalon monster had drilled up into the surface and stood over the large hole in the ground.

"Aha! Found you!" Sonic exclaimed in determination as he quickly got into his Spinball Form and spun towards the Megalon monster after he came up from the ground. Luckily, the monster didn't react fast enough and had his stomach get slammed very hard by Sonic's Spinball attack.

The Megalon monster roared in pain as he was knocked down to the ground on his back. Sonic then attacked the stomach again and again by spinning into it while the monster was lying on his back. Sonic went up and down repeatedly as he hit the stomach as much as he can.

SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!

The Megalon monster roared even more in pain as his stomach was being slammed repeatedly by Sonic. While Sonic was busy hitting the monster's stomach, the other Megalon monster soon drilled up towards the surface and had stood behind his comrade. Eventually, Sonic had made one final slam onto the monster's stomach, and the monster had combusted into dark particles.

POOF!

"That's two down! Now, where's the last- YOW!" Sonic exclaimed confidently with a smirk before he yelped in surprise when he saw a large drill slamming the ground next to him at his right side.

CRAAAAAAAASSSSSHHHH!

Sonic immediately jumped away at his left side to avoid another attack from the large drill. However, Sonic had his back towards the Megalon monster behind him, so, he didn't see the monster's other Drill Arm swinging at him before it's too late.

CLANG!

"Aaaaaaaaarrrrrggghhh!" Sonic screamed in pain as his body was knocked hard by the Drill Arm.

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH!

Sonic had crashed into the building at the monster's left side. Rubble fell from the building and crashed into the ground below.

CRAAAAAAAAASSSSSSHHHH!

"Ooooooohgggnn..." Sonic groaned in agony as he cringed a lot from the hard attack. His body was smashed into the wall of the building where he had crashed into. He could barely move his body since he was in so much pain. Aaarrgghh...Now, I can see how Kathy got her migraine. She must've gotten hit by these huge drills too. Owwwww...Just what are those drills made of anyway? Pure silver? Because that felt very hard. Sonic brooded in pain as he cringed some more.

The Megalon monster roared in amusement as he clanked his Drill Arms together after he had successfully hit Sonic.

AAAAARRRRRREEEEEGGGHHH! SCREEEEKKK!

Meanwhile, Kathy gasped in shock after seeing Sonic get hurt like that. She quickly covered her mouth with her hands and had her eyes widened while looking shocked. Oh, my gosh! Sonic is down! Oooh...I also felt that one too. Sonic definitely needs my help here! I've got to hurry and help him before that Megalon monster kills him! Kathy pondered in shock and in worry as she stared at the Megalon monster with worried eyes.

She then started flying into the air again and flew as fast as she could towards Sonic. She looked solemn and had slowly grabbed her Sol Gems again. You know what? I think that my migraine had settled down a bit. Surely, I'll defeat this monster fast enough before the pain could come back. Alright! Let's finish what Sonic had started! By defeating this monster! Kathy thought in determination as she held onto her Sol Gems tightly while flying closer to the Megalon monster.

Meanwhile, the Megalon monster was ready to finish Sonic as he turned fully at the building in front of him and had started spinning his large drills again. Sonic slowly opened his eyes and had grimaced when he saw the monster slowly approaching him while having his drills up. ...Ugggh...If only I had the strength to get out of this building, I would have easily avoided this attack. But...owww...I'm still in too much pain to even move. This...isn't how I had planned to go out on. I had expected to die by a laser attack and go out on a "boom". Not...getting drilled into the building like a corkscrew. This is...pretty humiliating to be honest. Sonic brooded with a grimace as he kept cringing in pain.

He can see the large drills getting closer to him now and had closed his eyes as he awaited his untimely demise.

...But suddenly!

CRAAAAAAAASSSSSHHH!

"H-Huh?!" Sonic exclaimed in shock as he opened his eyes again and gaped in surprise. He was shocked to see the large Megalon monster being knocked down on his back and had crashed into a building behind him instead. Sonic was confused as to why it is the case until he looked down and saw Kathy on the monster's stomach instead.

...Kathy...I definitely owe one you after this...Sonic thought with a weak smile as he stared at Kathy below him.

Meanwhile, Kathy was standing on top of the Megalon monster with a frown on her face. She stared into the monster's face while looking serious. The monster roared angrily while looking furious.

AAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEGGGGHHH!

"Think that you are going to kill my friend today? Well, guess what? You thought wrong!" Kathy said solemnly with a frown as she gripped onto her Sol Gems tightly. She then quickly punched rapidly at the monster's stomach with her Sol Gems as fast as possible.

POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW!

SCREEEEKKK! SCREEEKKK!

The Megalon monster roared in pain as his stomach was being punched a lot. Kathy kept focusing on her attacks while doing her best to ignore pain in her head. ...Ow...Ow...Ow...Ow...Ow...Come on...A little more...And...Kathy thought with a grimace as she cringed a lot at the rising pain of her migraine.

POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW! POW!

Yes! It's done! The monster is defeated! Finally! …Uggggghh...And just in time too...Owwww...Kathy thought with a smile while cringing a lot at the end as she saw the Megalon monster combusting into dark particles after roaring one last time in pain. She then landed back down to the ground while clutching her head again in pain.

"Ugggh...Ooohh..." Kathy groaned in pain as she felt the migraine again.

"H-Hey! You did it, Kathy! Way to go!" Sonic yelled enthusiastically with a grin as he cringed a bit in pain.

Sonic...I would appreciate it if you would KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN! Uggggghh...Kathy thought in annoyance with a frown while cringing some more in pain. She then put her Sol Gems back into her pendant before rubbing her temples.

"Huh? Is something wrong, Kathy?" Sonic asked in concern as he watched Kathy rub her head a lot.

"No, Sonic. I just like rubbing my head a lot. OF COURSE, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH ME! Ugggghhh...My migraine just came back after I used the Sol Gems again..." Kathy replied sarcastically before shouting in frustration and before muttering weakly in annoyance.

"Wh-Whoa...Uhhh...S-Sorry?" Sonic muttered awkwardly with a surprised look on his face after hearing Kathy shout like that. Something tells me I should back off a bit. Sonic thought in worry as he frowned a bit.

"...(Sigh)…...It's okay, Sonic. I'm just annoyed that my migraine came back. That's all," Kathy replied calmly yet tiredly with a sigh as she rubbed her head some more.

Sonic smiled weakly at that as he thought. Heh...I don't blame her. I'm pretty roughed up too.

"...Just take your time, Kathy. I'm still sticking out for you whether you are aware of it or not," Sonic replied calmly with a weak smile as he closed one eye.

Kathy then smiled in amusement after hearing that last sentence. She turned around and looked up at Sonic with a smile. "Heh...Let me guess. You want me to get you out of that wall first, right?" Kathy replied playfully with a smile as she placed her arms down a bit.

"What? …It's not that obvious, is it?" Sonic replied playfully with a smile too.

Kathy grinned at him as she teased jokingly, "No, it's not. You blend right in within that wall".

"Heheheheh...Very funny, Kathy. Very funny," Sonic replied calmly with a smile as he chuckled a bit.

Kathy smiled back at him before flying upwards towards the wrecked building. She soon flew up towards Sonic and had held her hands out to him. Sonic smiled at her and had grabbed both of her hands.

"Hang on, Sonic. Here we go..." Kathy replied gently with a smile as she carefully flew backwards and pulled Sonic out of the wrecked building. After she had successfully pulled Sonic out, he hanged onto her while she descended towards the ground below. They soon landed onto the solid ground again and had let go of each other's hands.

"Thanks, Kathy. Now, I really owe you one. You had saved my life," Sonic said calmly yet happily with a smile as he winked his eye a bit.

"Well, you had saved mine first. So, that counts, right?" Kathy replied calmly yet happily too with a smile.

"Yeah, but seriously, if you hadn't come in and saved me right then, I would've turned into a blueberry swirl," Sonic replied calmly yet jokingly with a grin.

"Awww, but that just sounds delicious!" Kathy replied brightly yet innocently with a grin.

"Heheheheh...Of course, you'd think that, Kathy. But it still wouldn't be good for me. I like my body to stay intact and not fall apart into pieces thank you very much!" Sonic replied calmly yet playfully with a grin as he chuckled a bit in amusement.

"Hehehehehe! Ahh...Owww...I'll keep giggling until after my migraine is gone completely," Kathy replied calmly with a smile and a giggle while cringing a bit. She even held her head a bit while saying that.

Sonic smiled sympathetically at that as he replied gently, "It's alright, Kathy. I understand. Just take a breather, and you'll be okay".

Kathy nodded in understanding and smiled gently at him. Sonic smiled gently back at her before putting his arms over his head and looking away from her in slight awkwardness. He stared at the wrecked streets as he saw fire, smoke, rubble, and crumbled buildings everywhere.

Sonic whistled a bit before commentating in awe, "Boy, those Megalon monsters really decimated the place. They did a lot more damage than any of Dr. Eggman's robots did in the past".

Kathy was slightly surprised when Sonic spoke again after a bit of silence, but she had nodded a bit in agreement before replying calmly, "Well, that's the raw power of kaijus for you. No city is immune to their destructive power".

"Heh. Tell me about it. They rocked the place as if they were performing at their own concert!" Sonic replied calmly with a smile as he stared at the wrecked city some more.

"What's a 'concert'?" Kathy asked curiously with a confused look on her face. She titled her head in a cute way again when she had asked that,

"Huh? How could you not-Oh, yeah, that's right. You had never heard of a concert before, do you, Kathy?" Sonic replied in confusion before in understanding as he looked awkward while glancing back at her.

"Mmm...mmm..." Kathy mused quietly while shaking her head "no".

"Uhhh...Well...Maybe it would be best if I explain that to you later, Kathy. You're still busy fighting those Megalon monsters, right?" Sonic replied awkwardly with a sheepish smile as he looked back at her.

"Well, yeah, but I'm sure that Knuckles had gotten the rest of the Megalon monsters already. So, the city is safe from them at least. Although..." Kathy replied calmly with a smile before she looked serious as she held her chin while continuing solemnly, "...There is a chance that Battra is in the city currently. The city won't be completely safe unless I search for him and stop him from whatever he's planning".

"Huh? You think that Battra is in the city now?" Sonic asked in surprise and in curiosity as his eyebrows were raised.

"Well, it's possible. The Dark Thoughts wouldn't be here if Battra hadn't come here and created them from his Dark Sol Pendant. He also did attack Central City yesterday. So, it's very likely that he might come back here after his defeat. I don't know why he's here, but it's very probable that he wanted to cause some sort of trouble. I just wish that I know where he is so that I could stop him," Kathy replied solemnly with a frown as she had her hands out.

"Yeah, who knows where he could be at this time? At least with yesterday's events, Battra was easily seen since he was busy destroying the city. But since he's not the one destroying it, he could be anywhere!" Sonic replied solemnly with a frown as he crossed his arms.

Kathy frowned even more at that and looked down at the ground. She then muttered solemnly, "...Which means that Knuckles is in danger the moment he runs into him. I've got to find him now".

"Do you want me to go with you and look for him?" Sonic asked calmly yet solemnly with a frown.

Kathy shook her head "no" as she answered solemnly, "Sonic, you may not be aware of this, but you're clearly injured. Badly. You can't risk your health by searching for Knuckles with me. You need to go home or go back to Tails' house to take care of your injuries".

"But you could just use your...Oh...Yeah, that's right. You have to use your Sol Gems to heal me. And yet...you still have a migraine...Ahh...Umm...This is awkward," Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish smile as he rubbed the back of his head.

Kathy smiled sheepishly too as she replied calmly, "Sorry, Sonic. But I need to conserve my energy just in case I run into Battra. Looks like I can't heal you this time".

"Riiiigght...Ummm...Okay then! I'll just...uhh...rush back to Tails' place and get my injuries patched up. Yeah...uhh..." Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish look on his face as a sweat drop fell on his head.

"Sonic?" Kathy asked gently with a little smile.

"Yeah?" Sonic asked curiously with a smile.

He then was surprised when Kathy hugged him gently again. He smiled a lot at this and had hugged her back.

"...Thanks for helping me out, Sonic. I really did need somebody to help me out, and I'm glad that you came at the right time. I wouldn't have defeated these monsters without your help. You're the best, Sonic. Thank you," Kathy thanked gently with a little smile as she held Sonic gently.

Sonic raised his eyebrows at this and had blushed a bit in embarrassment. He smiled warmly at her as held Kathy gently too. "...Awww...Cut it out, Kathy. You're making me blush. I only came here because I saw a report of it on T.V. Of course, I would come here and help you out. That's what friends are for, right?" Sonic replied calmly yet gently with a smile as his cheeks blushed red.

"Hehe! ...You're right, Sonic. I'm so glad that I have friends now. It makes things soooo much easier," Kathy replied calmly yet happily with a giggle and a cute smile.

"Amen to that, Kathy! It certainly made my death-defying experience A LOT easier!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin.

"Hehehehehehe! ...Ahhh...Owww...Sonic...Don't make me giggle...My head still hurts..." Kathy replied calmly yet happily with a bright smile as she giggled a bit before cringing again in pain.

"Heh...Sorry about that, Kathy," Sonic replied sheepishly with an awkward smile.

"It's okay," Kathy replied simply with a smile. She and Sonic had hugged for a bit longer before breaking apart and smiling at each other.

Sonic then gave her a thumbs-up and a wink as he replied calmly yet brightly, "Well then, Kathy, I guess it's time for you to be searching for that old Knucklehead! Good luck! Cause you need it, my friend!".

Kathy beamed at Sonic as she replied happily, "Thanks, Sonic! I will!".

She then looked curious as she rubbed her chin and looked down for a bit. "Hmmm...I just wonder what Knuckles is doing right now after we had split off. I already figured that he had fought the Megalon monsters, but what else could he be doing right now besides that?" Kathy said curiously with a little frown.

Sonic then smirked and put his hands on his hips as he replied casually, "Heheheh...Knowing him, he's probably out there sticking his nose into somebody's business".

"Huh? You think?" Kathy asked curiously with an intrigued look on her face as she looked up at Sonic.

Sonic lowered his eyelids halfway in amusement as he asked coolly, "You wanna to know a secret about him, Kathy?".

Kathy blushed a bit in embarrassment before slowly nodding her head a bit. "Umm...M-Maybe..." Kathy answered shyly with a sheepish smile as her cheeks were pink.

Sonic chuckled a bit at this as he thought. Awww...That's so cute. Kathy does have a crush on him.

"Heheheheh...Well, Kathy, if you want to get close to Knuckles, I won't stop you, but...Heheheheh...you might want to have this tip as a heads up. Because trust me...Heheheheh...Knuckles is quite the handful. I know that from experience!" Sonic replied in amusement as he chuckled a lot.

"Uhh...O-Okay. So, what's the tip?" Kathy asked curiously yet awkwardly with a shy smile.

Sonic then calmed down his chuckles before he answered calmly, "Well, the first thing that you need to know about Knuckles is that he is the most short-tempered, stubborn guy that you will ever meet, and I'm not being hyperbolic here! He's just is!".

"Umm...I think that I had gotten that part, Sonic," Kathy replied awkwardly in confusion as she frowned a little and titled her head in a cute way again.

Sonic smirked in amusement of this as he teased, "Yeah, I'd believe it...especially since you're spending a lot of time with him".

"Sonic!" Kathy exclaimed in shock and in embarrassment as she blushed a lot.

"Heheheheh! I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" Sonic exclaimed in amusement as he chuckled again while putting his hands out.

Kathy then pouted at this as she thought. Geez, Sonic doesn't take some topics seriously at times. I hope that's not a reoccurring thing as I get to know him better.

"Heheheheh...Okay. Okay. I'll be serious again. (A-hem)…" Sonic replied calmly while chuckling a bit before clearing his throat a bit and looked slightly serious again. He then continued by smiling calmly at Kathy, "Anyways, Kathy, you should always keep an eye out for him whenever he makes rash decisions and whatnot. Because as bold as he is at times, he's also the stupidest at those times as well. In fact, I bet you a hundred rings that the reason that you and Knuckles had split up was because he wanted to look brave and tough towards you as he faces the monsters on his own".

"...! You...You think so?" Kathy asked curiously as she gasped in surprise while putting a hand over her mouth.

"I know so, Kathy. And that's the very reason why you should always look out for him. Heh. After all..." Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a nod. He then lowered his eyelids halfway in a smug way as he added this in amusement.

"...He's quite the troublemaker..."

And thus, ends part 7! We're almost at the end of the episode! Hopefully, it will end in two more parts! But we'll just have to see! Thanks for enjoying this chapter as Sonic and Kathy helped each other out battling the Megalon monsters together and had gotten some cool scenes out of it! Also, you get a little insight into Kathy's motives into becoming the Guardian of the Sol Pendant with that small flashback. It all makes sense now.
