Author Notes: Hi guys, hopefully everyone is enjoying this fanfiction so far. Now it comes to the point of the story where Freshman year begins for Paul and Kim. Now I'm going to be open here and say, I'm trying to create a Fanfiction series of a Rebooted Kim Possible series. Now I know what you're going to say. 'The series started from Sophomore year of high school. Not Freshman year.' I'm now completely aware that the series began in that time period. This will be a remake of the series, some scenes and scripts will be recycled from the main series but Ron won't be present for those missions. Also, there will be a lot of dialogue in the beginning as our character will learn about Kim and Middleton for himself. This will be like this only in the beginning of the chapters. I know it can get boring. Some things will be skipped. Finally a lot of characters in the original series are missing their surnames, so along the way I will make them up, based on the best of my abilities. OC Characters that I create along the way, could be one off or recurring during these series. Well that's all from me. Enjoy!
- Mrs Anastasia Brockney - Jill Talley (SpongeBob SquarePants - Karen/ The Loud House - Rita Loud) - OC Character
- Miss Trisha Wilkinson - Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Moon - Sailor Mars and Sailor Moon/ Total Drama - Courtney) - OC Character
Disclaimer: I don't own Kim Possible or any other relevant stuff. KP is the property of the Walt Disney Company. My OC Characters are owned by me.

After spending the last week exploring the very interesting town of Middleton, getting used to the environment and what the neighbourhood is like, it was finally the 3rd August. AKA Monday. Also Known As The first day of school in the US. Déjà vu for Paul. Second time he would start school in the same year, it was a funny feeling starting a school year again. Paul woke up just before 6AM. He was both nervous and excited to start school in a different country and environment. First day jitters probably. He got changed into his casual attire, which was a white t-shirt wearing a very trendy black jacket on top of it, with a pair of black jeans and white sneakers. Back at home, he would have to give a gold coin for donation to wear casual clothing at his school. He brought plenty of clothes to America. Almost his entire closet from home. He was planning on buying clothes over the next few months or whenever he experiences his growth spurt, that's if he grows anymore. After Paul fixed his hair, he prepares his backpack with his school lunch that he prepared himself. Notebooks, folders, pens, loose leaf paper, stationary case and his iPad when he necessarily needed it to research certain information he couldn't access from the library at school or from his textbooks. He was all set to leave the big empty house. He checked the time '7:28 AM'. His high school was merely a 15-minute walk from where he lives. Before he leaves the house, he connects his headphones to his phone and starts listening to music as he begins to lock up the house with his keys and proceeds to walk down the sidewalk to make his way to school while listening to his music.

At the Possible Residence
A week flewby so quick for Kim. Ron left Middleton and Kim Possible was left still in her emotional state, as her best friend left town. She hadn't been herself for almost a week. What was meant to be the most exciting time for her to start high school for the first time has turned into one with low enthusiasm. Although she would have to get over this soon, or it will affect her wellbeing, performances in school and on missions. She knew that, but time to heal was important. Hopefully she can have a good week at school and see if she can make some new friends. Tara was actually a nice girl, but she always hanged out with... Bonnie. She had to make new friends. Even if it was a new student.
Kim was currently in her room getting changed, she was wearing a green tank top which showed her midriff with blue jeans and white canvas shoes. She walked downstairs towards the dining room to see her two younger twin brothers eating breakfast as well as her dad who is currently occupied by the newspaper at the table.
"Morning Kimmie-Cub. Excited for your first day of high school." Mr Possible asks putting down his newspaper enough to see his daughters face.
"Yeah." Kim said unenthusiastic tone while taking a seat on the table.
"Come on sis. Cheer up." Jim her brother says.
"Yeah, why don't we wreck your room when we come back from school?" Tim says in a cheekily manner.
"I don't think that will work even today." Kim says uninterested, as her mum hands a plate of food in front of her.
"Here's breakfast Kimmie. So, you boys excited for soccer practice on Friday's." Ann Possible says.
"Do we have to go Mum?" Jim says nagging.
"Yeah, soccer is lame and boring." Tim adds
"Boys if you haven't played the game yet. How do you know if you don't like it? Besides play for a few weeks and see how you'll go. For me please?" Mr Possible kindly says to his boys.
"Fine" Both twins answer in unison rolling their eyes.
"Good. Well, I'm off to work. Have a great first day back to school kids. I'll be late honey. Don't wait up." He announces to his family before kissing his wife and walking towards the front door.
"Have a good day dear." Ann says waving
"You too honey." James says before walking outside and closing the door. Upon walking towards the sidewalk, he opens his briefcase to check his papers when a sudden gust of wind comes past and took one of his papers. Mr Possible gasped at this, meaning it was a really important paper, as he begins to chase after it.
"Come back!" He shouts, trying to catch up with the paper.

While Paul was listening to his music, on the corner of his eye, he notices a loose piece of paper flying in the air. Paul reacts and jumps up to grab it. Once he successful grabs the paper, he notices the content on the paper and realises that the content and information on the paper. is what a rocket scientist would use for their work.
With the lyrics of his song still playing in his ears, he decides to pause his music and take off his headphones to investigate where this mysterious paper came from. I mean, it can't just come from the sky. Despite the fact it most likely relates to space. Tired to reach for the stars. Didn't even make it 3 meters off the ground
He continues to walk towards the corner of the suburban street, he then sees a man in a tie with a briefcase who looks like he lost something. Paul immediately saw this and it clicked to him like two magnets.
"Excuse me sir. By any chance are you looking for this?" Paul gesturing to the paper his holding up.
The said man smiled and walked up to the teenager "My work! Thank you young man." He said, taking the page.
"No problem sir" The teen replied happily.
"I would normally be driving my car to work, but's it's in the shop, So I have to take the bus to work this morning. Normally I'd check everything while I'm inside the car, but that darn page got out when I was leaving home and it almost flew away."
"Well judging by the content on that paper. It must have really wanted to fly as well!" Paul says pointing to the paper.
The man laughed at the teenager's joke "That's a good one!"
"Thanks, sorry for peeping at your work though."
"Don't be. I'm flattered when a person actually recognises what kind of work I actually do. Especially for a young fellow like yourself." The man says. "Speaking of which, I haven't seen you here before. You new in town?" Scratching his chin wondering.
"I am, I actually moved just last week." Paul said
"Oh nice, where did you live before?" The man asked curiously.
"Australia." Paul responds
"Woah. That's a lot of mileage from here." The man says as he puts his paper back in his briefcase.
"Yeah, I know." Paul says
"Well, I would love to chit chat, but I've got a bus to make. Thanks again."
"No problem, Mister..?"
"Just call me James. Have a good day." He said as he crossed the street
"And to you too, James." Paul said smiling.
Paul saw the figure continue walking to the bus stop, Paul places his headphones back over his head and continues walking to school.

7:49AM
Outside of Middleton High School
Paul starts to approach this massive school. He notices a few large yellow school buses at the front. Something he never seen back at home, only on television. He pauses his music and powers off his headphones putting them into his case. He notices a large board with the schools name on it and it read 'Welcome Back Students'. He inhales a large amount of air into his nose.
'Well, this is it Paul. You've travelled halfway around the world to be here. It's now or never.'
Paul gradually begins to walks up the stairs to his new school. He notices a lot of people in all different sizes. Tall, short, skinny and plump. Some are the same ages as him, some a bit older. Some even older than others. Of course, he would absolutely know no one from this school. The first thing he was told to do upon arriving on the first day, was meet up with a 'Mr Barkin.' Must be the principal of the school.
Walking past the threshold of the building felt like a new beginning for him as he takes in the atmosphere and environment of his new school.
Straight off the bat. It was completely different from his old school. His other school was quite massive as it took all the year levels from Foundation to Year 12, while in here, this school teaches only 4 grade levels. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. Equivalent to Years 9-12. Paul has done a lot of research regarding the American education system, before coming to his first day. He also found out that American school have a wider range of selected classes to choose from. Financial Planning, Photography, Study Hall, Yearbook. Even Drivers Education! The other major thing was the layout. His other school was very open. While here its all enclosed. Lockers within the hallways and surrounded by classrooms. While the lockers back at home were on the ground floor and the rooms where scattered around like an open atrium. They're white lockers? Wow!
What Paul failed to notice is that a number of people were staring at him. More particular the girls in the case. Whilst that was happening Paul was looking for Mr Barkins office.
'Room 105… Room 106…. Room 108…. Room 107! Hmm. How unsual…. Room 109... Not Room 107... MR BARKINS OFFICE... Ahh this is the one.'
Paul knocks on the door.
"Come in" The person said from the other side of the door. Paul opens the door to see something quite unusual.
"Um sorry sir, did I come at a bad time?" Paul asks.
"Don't mind me Cadet. I have to shave 15 times a day, or my face will look like a bushy mess." The man says with a shaving kit in front of him "You must be the Foreign Exchange Student 'Paul Canopoulos ' I'm guessing?"
"Kanellopoulos Sir, and everyone calls me Paul."
The man finishes up shaving and puts the kit underneath his table "Well I call everyone by their surname"
"So Cantelopoulos" Barkin says
"Kanellopoulos" Paul says. 'I think this is going to be a running occurrence.' Paul thought annoyingly to himself.
"And while I think last name basis is a nice formal touch, I was going to ask you if you can, by any chance pronounce it correctly, please?" The man was about to speak up but Paul continued to speak. "Or call me Paul for a more formal greeting, but since I'm new here, it might take some time to getting used to how its pronounced."
"Well at least we are on the same wave length Canileveropulos."
'Not even close' Paul mentally laughing at his attempt
A few times lots of people have mispronounced his surname, especially his father as he would always be dealing with clients or talking in regards to phone, gas, electrical or bank companies. I mean it's a long surname, but give some effort man!
"ANYWAY" The man suddenly increases in his voice then goes back to normal. "My name is Mr Steven Barkin, substitute teacher here at Middleton High. As of now you'll address me as Mr Barkin. And while you're here in this school you'll have to follow the rules and be respectful. That incudes my rules. You understand?" Mr Barkin says in a serious and a bit of intimidating tone.
"Crystal sir. I've got two enquires though to ask though."
"Alright, proceed."
"First off, may I ask, are you in a high position at this school? I actually assumed you were the principal of the school. Secondly, what's your policy regarding haircuts?"
"Well the teachers here at this school have a high turnover rate, plus a lot of teachers get either sick from the cafeteria food to simply taking a vacation. And there's no policy about haircuts. We found it a good way to express yourself at school. Not like you have a choice in the Marines" Barkin explains to Paul, while murmuring that last sentence
"Wait, teachers taking vacations after they've accumulated a certain amount of time working at this school to receive those days off? And teachers getting sick from the food here? At an alarming rate too. How come this isn't being taken up?" Paul asks.
"Listen Caninopoulos, I don't tell you how to run your school, this school achieves fantastic results with a lot of students. This town is known for knowledgeable people. Including our incredible youth, which has IQs higher than most of our current Seniors and Jocks. Plus I cover most of the teachers absent classes, so no one leaves the class with a spare under my watch." Barkin says tapping his watch.
BZZZ "Steve, Ms. Carlson said she's taking a two week vacation. You alright to cover her classes?" A voice came from the phoneline
Barkin sighs and clicks the button "That's fine. I have to take Johnson's classes too."
BZZZ "Okay, I see a double clash here. I'll hire a substitute teacher for the day to cover that."
"Thank you Trisha" Barkin responds back and both sit in silence and Paul's gathers his thoughts so far.
Already been less than a week here and Paul's seen and heard some weird shit. Like the town is great and a lovely place, but has heard some things for the first time. Smarty Mart? Never heard of it before. He's heard of Walmart, but never that other place. Although it was a magnificent place to find bargains, all your daily and other essentials that you wouldn't find unless you go to 10 specific ships to find. Not that he was complaining over anything like that!
Another thing was that the town was one of three other cities within the tri-city area. Lowerton and Upperton. Not like there's anything wrong with it. Back at home in Melbourne the city had North Melbourne, West Melbourne, East Melbourne, South Melbourne even Port Melbourne. But why not name it one whole big city? Pretty pointless if you ask me. And finally the one thing he can't wrap his head around since his driver told him this. Why was there a teenage girl heroine fighting bad guys. What was this? It feels like he has been warped inside a cartoon. Nah that's just the old imagination playing up again. Besides life and Earth is a weird and strange planet. As Dr Seuss said once 'We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.'
In any case, he was actually 'for' this girl to fight crime. Hopefully she attends this school. He would really like to meet this brave teenager. She must be mature and highly skilled to be doing all of this.
Kim Possible walked through the halls of her new school, with a bit of a spring in her step. Last school year, she was in middle school and she was now a high schooler as a Freshman. It was also going to be the first school year without her long-term best friend Ron, who moved away last week. This morning she wasn't feeling like her normal cheerful, happy and preppy self, but her mum gave her a bit of a confidence booster before she dropped her off at school. And she looks to broke out a smile for the first time in a few days.
10 Minutes Earlier
"You boys have a great first day at school." Mrs Possible said to her twin sons and the boys quickly rushed out of the car both saying 'later' "AND DON'T CAUSE ANY TROUBLE!" She shouted, before talking to her daughter "Boys will be boys I guess." She drives off and heads to Middleton High School to drop off her daughter. They drive in silence for most of the trip until Ann spoke up to talk with her daughter.
"Now Kimmie, I know the last few days you've been down since Ron leaving town. But you have to move on at some point. I'm not saying to forget about him; besides he contacts you every day."
"(Sighs) I know mum, but it's not the same. We were tight for so long. He's been my closest and only friend for the past 9 years. I mean, we had different interests, tastes and all, but that's what made our friendship work, we both filled what we lacked within our personalities. And now we can't even be a team anymore!" Kim says in a sad and frustrating tone as she places her elbow against the window and leans her chin on her closed fist.
She's been going on missions recently solo. In her case, she considered as 'No big'. In all honestly it has made her a bit more tired recently despite only going on a few missions since Ron left. Nothing really serious like her 5 notorious villains she goes up against usually. She has been taking the whole 'Ron leaving' sitch a bit hard. It has been clearly shown for the last few days and hasn't gone unnoticed by her own family. Even her friend Wade noticed her behaviour as well. Even though he has never met Kim in real life before, but he helps her with mission related problems and runs her website. He is a very loyal and devoted friend for both Kim and Ron. Kim considers Wade to be a close friend of hers, although she's concerned about the unhealthy amount of time of being cooped up in his room. Especially a kid of his age.
"I know sweetie, but it will be temporary only. Ron will comeback one day. But for the time being, you should try and focus on making some new friends. Be open and get to know others... MaybeEvenBringingANiceBoyHome." Ann quickly adds at the end.
"I don't know mum, I mean I can be so awkward at t-... Did you say bring a boy home. MUM! I'm only 14." Kim clearly flabbergasted at her mum springing up from her slouched position.
"Can't blame me for trying. Your dad would kill any boy that comes near you, except for Ron." Ann explains
Ann was right. Her husband James and herself were quite protective about their daughter going on dates and hanging out with boys. Although she's only had a few friends since junior school, she would talk to them, but none weren't as close and Ron and herself. In retrospect about boys, Ann has been thinking for the past few weeks that it's time for her to start finding herself in regards of a boyfriend or start dating or to at least find another close friend. Her husband thought otherwise and hopefully wishing her daughter would forever stay young and not grow up so fast in front of their very own eyes. After all, both parents knew she wouldn't be a little girl forever.
Ann wouldn't mind if a gentleman can into Kim's life, maybe her stubborn husband would end up liking him and maybe not scare him off with his... 'Black hole' talk.
"But speaking of boys Kim, have you thought about anyone recently? Or someone in middle school?" Ann asked her daughter curiously.
"No mum, I mean there was one boy, his name is Josh Mankey and he looked like a total hottie, but I don't think I'll be interested in dating boys this school year. Besides, I think most guys would be intimidated by me for being a teen-heroine. I just miss Ron so much, it's not the same him being far away in England."
"Kimmie, I know it's going to be hard; he was close to our family, I understand. Let me give you some advice." Ann said pulling the car over and faced her daughter.
"Sweetie, I remember the first day we dropped you off at preschool, I was 6 months pregnant with Jim and Tim. And you said to me and your father, you didn't want to go to school, because you wanted to stay with us. You also said, what if you couldn't make a friend. And your father said and this is his saying most of the time 'Anything is possible for a Possible'. You're becoming a grown up soon. I know it's hard to make new best friends, But I know one thing I'm sure of." Kim perks up eager to her what her mum has to say. "That if any boy would want to date you, would be the luckiest person in the world to date such a beautiful, talented and smart person as known as my lovely daughter. Kimberly Ann Possible." Ann says in a loving and compassionate manner while she is smiling to her daughter.
"You really mean that?" Kim says in a sincere and hopeful tone.
"Of course I do Kimmie. Now you wouldn't want to be late on the first day back, now would we?"
"Nope. Thanks mum, it's what I just needed." She extends over to kiss her mum on the cheek. "Love you mum."
"I love you too sweetie." Ann says to her daughter before exiting out the vehicle and walking up the steps to her new High School.
Kim walks to the front office. She was told on her orientation day, which was held a few days ago, she would be taking care of a foreign exchange student and show them around the school, how the education system works, there classes and see how things go within their school.
At first she was a bit surprised that a student who has only been at the school at least once, was assigned to take care of a Foreign Exchange Student, instead someone who's a Sophomore or Junior. She prayed that the student knew at least how to speak English, or she would be having a hard time translating with him... Or her.
She considered that she will check up on them a few times a week to see how they are progressing and make them feel welcomed in their lovely town and school. She enters the office and see a secretary behind a desk on her computer. She sees the red-haired teen.
"Oh, good morning there. You must be Kim Possible. you here to see Mr. Barkin?" She asks.
"Yes, I'm here to take care of the foreign exchange student." Kim says smiling.
"Oh good, I'll tell Mr Barkin you're here." She clicks a button on her phone landline "Mr Barkin, Miss Possible is here"
"Send her in." A voice said over the intercom of the phone
"Kim, right this way" She got out of her chair and lead the way. After walking for a few seconds, she led her to Mr Barkin's office. She knocked on the door. A heard a voice call out from the other side. "Enter!"
The secretary opens the door, gesturing Kim to enter, before closing the door.
"Ah Possible, good to see you again. I would like you to meet Mr. Paul Katonopulos." Barkin stands up and introduces the two teenagers, once again mispronouncing the teens surname.
In hearing his name, the student in question turns around to face Kim. Both teens set of eyes widened at the same time upon looking at each other. Paul is in awe and amazement to see what was in front of him. Taking a moment to admire how she looks. A red-haired girl with long hair, bangs on the side, ruddy, smooth skin and her emerald eyes. She was wearing a green tank top, showing a bit of her midriff, wearing blue jeans and white sneakers and finally her physique, she looked very athletic as well. This was the first time Paul felt something that he's never felt before in his stomach.
A hernia?
Yeah right!
While Paul was looking, Kim was looking back in awe too. A brown-haired boy with slicked-back hair, sides really short, hazel eyes, square frame glasses and was slightly tanned. He was wearing a black jacket with black jeans and white sneakers. She could, just by looking at him, he was taller than her.
"Woah!" Kim thinks trying to keep her composure.
"Woah!" Paul thinks trying to keep his composure.
"Woah!... I've got to shave again." Barkin thinks whilst looking at a small circular mirror in his hand. Barkin realises that both teens are staring looking at each other, he put his hand mirror aside and continues the introductions by clearing his throat.
"Alright people. Cappaopoulos, Kim Possible. Kim Possible, Paul Cappaopoulos as you already know." Barkin says.
"So-o, you're the teen heroine I've heard about. Nice to meet you! You can call me Paul by the way." Paul says politely as he stands up and extends his hand out to shake hands with Kim.
Kim was still staring at Paul in awe, she then started to stare at his hand until she brings her thoughts together.
"Keep it together Kim!" the other teen says in her mind.
"K-Kim, it's er… Nice to meet you P-Paul." Kim trying her best to not sound so nervous with a smile on her face and shaking his hand.
"Likewise. Do you think I could have my hand back please." Paul say smiling.
Kim looks down realising she never let go of his hand, she quickly releases his hand, "Oh sorry!" Kim blushed.
"Well since introductions are over, Possible here will show you around the school, your classes and schedule. You've got until 0830 to finish the tour. Don't be late for class. Oh, by the way, you probably will be seeing me in a lot of your classes. You two are dismissed." Barkin says while taking a seat down.
Both teens exit the office and now are outside the door and in the hallway. Both were alone. Until one person spoke up first.
"So Kim, ready to show me around this school. I'm pretty excited to see what American schools are all about." Paul asks Kim.
"Hmm, oh uh, y-yeah sure." Kim responds back, clearly distracted, as the two teens start walking around the school hallways. While they're walking, Kim carefully stares at Paul ensuring he isn't looking at her. She start to think to herself.
"God, I'm a mess around this guy. He looks so cute. What am I thinking! I just met this guy." Kim thinks while walking next to her newly and possible crush.
Paul stares at Kim, but thanks to her quick reflexes she quickly faces the front, to make sure she never saw him while walking. Luckily he unnoticed this, she did have a small blush on her face.
"She looks unbelievable stunning. I never thought I'd be attracted to red-heads" Paul thinks to himself.
After a few minutes of Kim showing and explaining to Paul about the school, Paul decides to talk about something different for a change.
"So, I've heard you fight crime, tell me how that's like?" Paul asked curiously
Kim's eyes lit up. He knew that she was a crime fighting heroine. How did he know that? "Oh well. I'm part of Team Possible, we are a two person team at the moment. It used to be another guy, but he left. He also was my best friend. We have a website and people all around the world ask for my help. I also take down villains who have plans to take over the world"
"Wow that sounds great. I'm sorry to hear that about your best friend. What happened to him?" Paul says now convinced by what he has been previously told.
"I really don't want to talk about it, but long story short, he left the country and moved away for a few years."
Paul feel silent
"Sorry." Paul murmurs to Kim feeling sympathy for her. They both share the same boat in regards to their current situation.
"It's really no big" Kim reassured, but deep inside, the pain burned her about Ron.
"No I understand, I won't be seeing my closest friends for at least two years." Paul stops walking and continues "This program is a minimum 2 years by my government and it's totally unfair predicament for many students like myself. Hopefully you keep in contact with him."
"Nearly everyday. But it's not the same."
"I know. It's not the same as seeing them in person." Paul says before he stops the topic at hand, not wanting to press on for further details.
"Yeah. Now I've got no close friends anymore." Kim admits
"What do you mean?" Paul says confused by her comment.
"Well, he was my best friend since Pre K and we've always been close, he's like the older brother I never had. But isn't as annoying as the tweebs. He lived right next door to me and we would hang out everyday since we were 5."
'Another person with her best friend leaving them! Two in one week' Paul thought
"Wow. You guys must have been really great friends."
"Yeah, now I have to start again from the beginning."
"Why's that?"
"Well... My friend and I were very close for a number of years, and all of a sudden he's out of my life, just like that.
"Surely you have other close friends?"
"Well I do, but I don't per say hangout with them often. They're more part of my cheerleading squad. So yeah"
'And she's a cheerleader too! Wow! No wonder her figure is so athletic, she's got to keep up with her routines after all.'
"Well.. If you don't have anyone to hangout with, I'll be more than happy to spend some time with you." Paul says smiling to Kim.
Kim's eyes widen at this "You really would hangout with me?"
'Wow, he actually wants to hangout with me! Even though he knows I'm a crime fighter. Okay Kim don't be awkward when you meet you people. Especially guys. Aww, what's going to happen when villains attack me? Would he be afraid of me? No Kim, don't think like that!' Kim thinks this with joy and panic.
"Yeah, it's up to you though. Plus we have something common. Our closest friends are far away from each other."
Kim giggles at his joke. Kim never intended to actually find and make a friend before her first class starts.
'She has such a beautiful laugh.' Paul thinks dreamily.
Both teens walked around and talked for a bit, before going past to pick up their timetables for school. Kim asks Paul "Can I compare our classes?"
"Sure thing, here." Paul says handing over the paper.
"Wow, we are in almost every single class. Except for Art. Which begins in 5 minutes."
"Huh, I heard they had some classes that they wouldn't normally teach back at home. Driver's education for one or Yearbook class. I mean what's the legal driving age here in America?"
"16"
"Hmm. Same age as Australia. I'm guessing we do that next year level."
"Yeah. Too bad I won't be able to own my own car until I'm 18."
"Well I don't know if I will drive here, unless I have to take that class for next year."
"Well, I'm thinking of taking a language class for next year. Maybe Latin or French."
"Well I think I might skip language classes and focus on my Greek."
"Oh you speak Greek?"
"Not fluently, but I practise quite a bit. I have a Greek background."
"That's Spankin."
"Uh thanks. I'm guessing that means cool?"
"Oh, y-yeah it does."
'Way to freak him out Kim' Kim thinks
"We should get to our classes." Paul says.
"See you when we have class or during recess.. If that's a thing here." Paul says confused not knowing if they have two breaks here in America.
"Oh bye, have a good first class." Kim says before Paul disappears into the hallways, she sighs and face palms her face feeling embarrassed for saying on of her many catchphrases or Kim Possible slang.
'That was probably the last time he's going to speak to me.' Kim says before walking down the hall to her first class for the day.
Paul entered his first class for the day. Art. He wasn't a entirely big fan of this class back at home. He would have one class a week in Art. Too bad Kim wasn't in this class. All the other classes they had together, except for Art. Oh well. He would have to be open and start talking to other students at this school. It wasn't a choice on the first day of school.
Paul took a seat opposite a blonde teen and put his backpack on the floor. He stared at the teen and gave a small nod to him smiling. He patiently waited for the teacher to arrive and commence the class.
The teacher arrived and set down her personal belongings on her desk and began to speak, "Hello everyone, my name is 'Mrs Anastasia Brockney'" She wrote on the whiteboard. "I see a lot of new faces in my art class, considering your all Freshman of course (Slight Chuckle). For the next few years, we will be opening our minds and finding what you can create, imagined and produce in regards to art. We will also be learning theory from time to time". Some students groaned at this, "Now to make this all easy for ourselves, you all will have partners. And those partners are sitting opposite from you. So take a look who you'll be working with and get to know them. No swapsies.
Everyone groaned at the automatic partners rule and they all got to see who their partners were. Paul was going to be partners with the blonde teen opposite him. Both teens stared at each other and Paul began to the conversation.
"So... were going to be partners for the rest of the year.
"I guess we are" The blonde teen says back with a hint of happiness in his voice
"Well might as well get introductions out of the way. Name's Paul." Paul says extending his hand out.
The other teen smiles before shaking his hand "Joshua, but you can call me Josh."
"So you're an exchange student?" Josh asks while sketching.
"That's right, but I speak English, so no foreign accent or anything like that. Although I speak Greek."
"That's cool"
"Thanks. How you going with your drawing?"
"Pretty good. See for yourself." Josh shows Paul a really creative drawing of a landscape with buildings.
"Woah, now that's creative! You must love being in art class."
"Well I actually enjoy being in art class. And music classes. When I was younger I always loved drawing and painting on canvases. Also playing the guitar as well."
"That's awesome. You written any songs?"
"I have, but song writing isn't really my strong suit honestly."
"It doesn't matter, others can write the songs for you instead. What's important is that you can play an instrument."
"That's true. How's your drawing going?"
"Er, could be worse. Art isn't really my 'go to class'. I don't mind drawing but I'm not that good." Paul says showing his drawing to Josh.
Josh picked up the drawing and saw what Paul drew. It looked like a sports player, with a thick moustache, short curly hair - almost like a perm, wearing a yellow and brown jersey with a V logo.
"Wow! This drawing is awesome. Who did you draw by the way." Josh asks
"Leigh Matthews. One of the best players in VFL/AFL history."
"Don't know who that is, but this is a pretty great drawing. Especially the workmanship of his hair."
"Thanks, his bald now, He retired well over 30 years ago. Voted player on the 20th Century though. So quite a significant player."
"I bet he is" Josh says smiling as he hands back the drawing to his art partner.
Both teens continuing drawing their masterpieces before a loud ringing sensation can be heard.
BRINNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
"Well there's the bell." Josh says, as he packs up and puts away his masterpiece of a drawing. "Hey Paul, we should hang out some time, you seem like a nice guy."
"Yeah that sounds nice. What other classes do you have?"
"Lets check." Both teens compare their schedules, like two officers staring at a crime investigation trying to work out what's what. "Hmm, Looks like we only have Art and English together." Paul says a bit disappointed at this.
"Yeah"
"Oh well, what you going to do. Looks like Art will be the best time to hang out during classes."
"Looks like it" Josh says as both knew English classes would require concentration, plus Paul can already tell Mr Barkin will be a hard ass whenever he talks over their classes.
... Lucky he's only human and couldn't hear that thought.
"We can always hang out at lunch. I said to a girl I was going to hangout with her this afternoon."
"Ooo, already crushing someone on the first day back?" Josh says cheekily.
"Well she is pretty cute, plus her best friend isn't at school anymore, so I'm going to cheer her up."
"That's nice. So who is the lucky girl?" Josh asks.
"Kim Possible" Paul says.
"Oh... you know she fights bad guys and saves people."
"Of course, someone told me when I arrived here."
"Just giving you a heads up man."
"I'm all aware (Chuckles) Anyway. Catch up at Lunch?"
"Love to, but I've got Basketball try-outs at lunch. Trying to make the starting line-up. I'll catch up with you another time. See you around Paul" Josh waves at his art partner.
"You too Josh, hope you make the team." Paul says back to the teen before Josh exited the room.
Paul's previous classes went by quickly and so enough it was lunchtime. He grabbed his paper brown bag from his locker, that he prepared himself, almost one of the rare occasions were he actually made school lunch for himself and a small notebook. He finds the cafeteria filled with lots of students, something that wasn't accustom or unfamiliar with back at home, only watching about this on films or tv shows. It was a bit intimidating being in a large area filled with hundreds of students, especially it being enclosed.
Paul walked around to find an open table where there was 4 empty chairs, he takes a sit on of them, placing his items on the table and begins to open up his brown paper bag.
"Is this table free? Or you holding it for someone?" A voiced called out.
Paul looks into the direction where the voice came from and it was a girl who looked to be African-American, she was carrying a tray of food. It was the first time seeing this girl at this school. She wore very stylish clothing.
"Sure, plenty of space." Paul smiles and gestures towards the teen to take a seat.
"Thanks" The girl says smiling and places her tray on the table.
Paul opens up his brown bag and reaches to grab a muesli bar. Well it's called a Granola bar here in America. He opens up his book and writes down a schedule plan of some sort for school.
"I like your jacket" A gentle voice calls out next to Paul
Paul stops writing and looks to the girl on the right of him, "Thanks" Paul says smiling, as he continues to write.
"What is it? Hugo Boss? Armani?"
"It's actually Versace." Paul says while writing.
"Gee, that must have been very expensive"
Paul stops writing and speaks "I got it off a clearance sale back home in Australia." Paul puts down his pen and continues to talk to the girl, "The store was closing down and had lots of designer items for sale."
"Oh, you're Australian. Tell me... where's your Aussie accent mate." The girl mimics an Aussie accent.
" (Chuckles) I don't really have an accent. I've got a Greek background as well, I guess it intervenes with the accent."
"Ooo European."
"Yep"
"So when did you move to America?"
"I moved last week."
"That's swell. What do you think of this town?"
"It's... pretty interesting. Friendly town and nice people. I thought America would be different the way I seen it get portrayed and envisioned it in my head."
"Boy, you exaggerate too much. Out here it's quite safe. Don't worry about your pretty little head." The girls says to Paul.
"That sounds reassuring, but I'd still be cautious" Paul says back.
"You right... By the way, my name's Monique." She said as she stuck out her hand.
"I'm Paul. Nice to meet you Monique" He said as he took and shook her hand.
"Sooooo.. May I ask, watcha writing?" Monique asks curiously.
"I'm just writing a schedule for the school year in my diary."
"Wow, organised on the first day are we?"
Yeah, I'm getting it out of the way because I'm waiting for a girl."
"Ooo already crushing on someone on the first day?"
'Crushing is an understatement.' Paul thought to himself
"No, I'm just trying to hangout with her and keep her company."
"Aww, I think that's very generous of you. What's her name?" Monique asks.
"Kim Possible"
"'THE' Kim Possible! The teen-heroine that fights crime." Monique says excitedly.
"Unless I'm unaware about another teen-heroine that fights crime. That's the one."
"Wow. The stuff she does is so amazing!"
"I have only heard about her just last week."
" (Gasps) Oh, my gosh! Boy, how haven't you not heard about Kim Possible? She's like so famous."
"Let's just say news in my country doesn't attract much American news." Paul says.
"But she saves people around the world."
"I retract my previous statement. World news." Paul corrects himself while smiling
Monique laughs at this before both teens continue eating their lunch. They're both silent before Paul starts up the conversation again.
"So what's your favourite fashion designer brand?"
Monique smiles at this, "Too easy Club Banana. I'm actually trying to apply for a job there at the moment."
"Oh that's nice. Hope you get it."
"Thanks."
"I actually met the owner and founder of that store" Paul says remembering the name of the store he heard last week.
"Martin Smarty?"
"Ding ding ding" Paul says.
"I heard he's one of the wealthiest people in the world! How on earth did you met him."
"It's actually a funny story" Paul says to Monique before explaining his story.
Kim closes her locker door with a sigh, normally she would be hanging out with her best buddy Ron, but that wouldn't be happening any time soon. She thought about Paul, she might have scared him off with her unusual slang, she was awkward when she talks to boys. Never with Ron she felt uncomfortable or feel awkward when talking to him, although she called him a bit weird when they first meet. They were a compatible friendship the two of them. She walked through the two large double doors to the cafeteria, it was quite busy, which would normally be the case during lunchtime. She spots Paul sitting down on a table, who's speaking to what a appears to be an African-American girl. Kim got this feeling in her body. Was it jealously? She brushed it off for a cold shiver.
She gulped and prepared herself as she walked closer towards the table.
"H-hey Paul, mind if I sit with you guys?" Kim says a bit nervously.
"Oh hey Kim. Of course. the more the merrier." Paul says
Kim smiles at this and mentally swipes her brow thinking that Paul wouldn't be speaking to her due to her weird behaviour earlier in the day.
"Kim, this is Monique. She's just moved here to Middleton."
"Nice to meet you Monique." Kim says putting down her lunch bag.
"Likewise, got to say, I'm really impressed by the amazing things you do."
"Ahh, it's no big. But thanks."
"Also, I really love that top." Monique says gesturing towards Kim's green tank top.
"Thanks! It's a Club Banana exclusive tank top."
"You shop at Club Banana too!" Monique says excitedly.
"You know it!"
"Oh my gosh! How much do you love the cargo shorts/"
"Way much!" Kim says
"Do you have them in Caesar green? Jinx" Both girls said at the same time.
"You owe me a soda." Kim says.
"Well look at you too getting along so quickly." Paul says staring back and forth at both girls.
"So, what were you guys talking about?" Kim asks both teens.
"Monique and I were discussing about where we shop for our clothes, our fashion trends and how I met Martin Smarty."
"Oh that's cool... Who's Martin Smarty." Kim asks.
"He's the owner and founder of Smarty Mart and Club Banana." Paul says.
"Wait...Smarty Mart? Isn't that the superstore which has discounts every living hour?" Kim asks.
"Yep, really great place too. Very convenient. Sells all your necessary things within one place."
"I don't really shop there much. Plus my mum shops at our local supermarket. Super Walmarket"
"Say... Wouldn't both stores sell the same clothes too?" Paul asks curiously to both girls.
"Actually Paul. There's a big difference." Monique speaks up.
"Example?" Paul says.
"One. Both stores have different logos. Two. Club Banana is way more expensive because they carry designer labels in store. And Three. At Smarty Mart they sell a pair of boots in the colour black, but at Club Banana they sell a similar pair in onyx."
Both Kim and Paul stare at Monique with their eyes widened, "What? A girl's got to know when she gets accepted at Club Banana hopefully in a few weeks time."
"What what. Club Banana sell a pair of boots in the onyx. Onyx is the same colour as Bllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackkkout?" Paul says awkwardly due to not saying a certain word around Monique.
"Sorry didn't want to be rude."
"Boy, don't be silly. You can say black."
"Onyx is Black! It's the same thing on the colour scheme."
"But they aren't exactly the same" Kim points out.
"I'll ask Josh when I see him again." Paul says.
"Wait. Josh?" Kim says.
"Yep."
"Mankey?"
"Where? Oh you meant his surname. Didn't catch it" Paul says thinking Kim was referring to the first gen Pokémon.
"Brown hair?" Kim adds on.
"Nope. He had Blonde hair."
"Oh" Kim says simply as she realises it wasn't the same Josh from middle school.
"In fact. We can ask him now" Paul says as he gestures over a teen to come sit next to them.
It was a blonde haired kid. "Hey Josh, take a seat man. How did basketball try-outs go?"
"It was alright, surprisingly short though. Got 3 more sessions this week and they will announce the final team selection on Friday afternoon."
"Good chance of making the team?" Paul says.
"I don't know. Freshman usually aren't a priority. It's always the Junior or Seniors in the Starting 5. I'll be lucky to even make the bench. Oh hey Kim."
"Josh? Oh my god, I couldn't recognise you with the blonde hair."
"Wait. You're not blonde?" Paul then went back to what Kim said a minute ago, "So you must be Josh Mankey."
"You catch on very quickly." Josh says.
"Well Kim mentioned a Josh with a surname Mankey with brown hair and she recognised you, so I put two in two together. Well you already know Kim, this here is Monique. She's new in town" Paul says.
Both teen stare at each other before smiling. Kim and Paul didn't notice this but both teens looked fond of each other.
"Hi" Monique says a bit shy.
"Hey" Josh says back to her.
"So the coach would still pick the older students in favour of the younger ones, despite if they have better skill and talent?" Paul says this unfair situation, regarding teams.
"Yep."
"No B Team or Reserves."
"Only 1 team. The school is lacking some staff for some reason."
"I hear you. I meet Mr Barkin today and he told me some of the teachers call in vacation any time they want to and he covers them no matter what. Some even get sick by the cafeteria food." Paul says agreeing with Josh on the lack of staff at the school.
Monique hears this a she drops her fork in shock and she pushes her metal tray away from her, losing her appetite. Paul reaches for his brown bag and passes a bar over to Monique.
"Speaking of cafeteria food, I've noticed that there's a table filed with older students and people wearing letterman jackets, probably jocks or Seniors."
"They probably have their own table. Did you know that they have their own homeroom!" Monique says excitedly.
"That sounds neat, but I was referring to the food. Take a closer look."
All three teens stared at each other before taking a closer look at their food. All teens raise their eyebrows looking at the food they were eating.
"Scotch Fillet" Monique says.
"Rotisserie Chicken" Josh says.
"Pasta with... Is that a truffle!" Kim says as a waiter in a fancy suit is slicing the truffle for the older teen.
"Shrimp Cocktail!" All three teens said together.
"Wait, there must be a misunderstanding. Maybe they just brought these from home" Monique says.
"Oh sure. I'm guessing they carry ceramic bowls, plates and cutlery around in their backpacks." Paul gesturing at the cutlery and plates on the table
"Oh and a waiter. Sure they paid someone to slice a truffle in slices." Paul says.
"Dude! Where did they get that served?" Josh says
"My guess... behind that door." Paul points out. A delivery man wheels in a crate labelled 'Smoked Salmon' behind the kitchen, which they can see perfectly where they are sitting from and he opens the top with a crowbar, as a cold gust of air escapes out of the crate.
"What! Is that smoked salmon!" Josh says.
"Do you know how expensive that is?" Monique says
"Probab-" Kim says but never finishes.
"70 a kilo" Paul interrupts.
All teens were a bit shocked seeing all of this. Paul had opened up a new page a began writing down something.
"That's in Australian Currency, US I think its roughly 55. Plus it fresh salmon."
"How did you even spot this? On the first day?" Kim says quite astonished.
"I'm very observant." Paul says without looking up from his book while continuing writing.
"What you writing down now?" Monique asks curiously
"Taking notes"
"Of?" Josh says beyond curious.
"What they are supplying to Seniors. That isn't cheap stuff man."
"Hello Kim" A feminine voice called out.
Kim mentally sighs and thinks to herself 'Here we go again. A bit later than usual.'
"Bonnie" Kim replies plainly.
"Hello Ro- oh.. you're not Ron. Way to get rid of that loser finally Kim. Not a bad upgrade, he wears glasses, so his dubbed already a loser." She laughed bitterly.
Kim got angry at Bonnie calling her best friend a loser and Paul a loser. "You should go Bonnie."
"Yeah, don't be dissing my friends" Monique says angrily.
"Fine, I've got better things to do. Josh you want to ditch this loser squad."
"No thanks, I'm fine with the company I have." Josh says clearly angry at Bonnie but didn't show it in his expression.
"Whatever" Bonnie says before walking off someone speaks up at the table.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Paul says as he drops his pen on the table.
"Ooo, it speaks finally. Well if you are deaf or something I'm Bo-"
"When?" Paul interrupts her
"...When what?" Bonnie cocks her head in confusion.
"When did I ask?"
The other teens at the table snickered at Paul's joke.
"Whatever loser"
"Again with that word, tell me who's your favourite celebrity?" Paul says
"Well if you must know, Oprah Winfrey." Bonnie replies back to his question.
"Well genius, she wears glasses too. So is she dubbed a loser as well." Paul smiles smugly at Bonnie
"..Uh, she's.. di.." Bonnie was speechless at this comeback, she didn't want to admit Oprah was considered a loser, she some sort of idolised her.
"Thought so. You shouldn't be making fun of my friends or my friend's friend. Capisce?" Paul clearly making a stand and backing up his newly made friends.
"..Whatever. I'm out" Bonnie walks off quickly.
"Wow. I've never seen any one besides myself stand up against Bonnie before." Kim says impressed.
"Well I'm not afraid to stand up for myself or for my friends."
All of his newly made friends smiled at this
'This isn't so bad after all.' Paul thought to himself. Already a day here, correction half a day and has already made a couple of friends. Even crushing on a particular red-head.
"So how do you know that girl Kim?" Monique asks.
"That's Bonnie Rockwaller, I've known her since Pre-school, we've been rivals ever since. She's always trying to get under my skin. And well you heard when she thought you were Ron, was toying with me because, he was my best friend that left this summer."
"So that's why I haven't seen him around. I always saw you too hang out in Middle School." Josh says.
"Yeah. He left town. I don't want to talk about it." Kim says while rubbing her arm.
"It's okay Kim, we understand. It's not good to bottle things up, when you're ready you can talk about it, if not and it's too personal I understand."
"Thanks Paul." Kim says smiling genuinely at the teen.
"You're welcome Kim. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to speak to some people." Paul stands up from the table and walks towards the table serving high quality food, taking his notebook and pen with him.
"No Paul. Don't!" Kim says shouting out but it was too late, "He's going to get creamed over there. Do you guys know if he can defend himself?"
Josh and Monique look at each other with high hopes that he knows what he's doing
"He should be fine." Josh says reassuring Paul will be A-OK.
"Totally!" Monique says confidently.
"I hope so, if they do, I'll open a can of whoop ass if they touch him... Y-you know to protect a friend I mean." Kim says quickly diverting away that she almost gave away a clear indication of her crush on Paul.
Paul walks up to the table, where all the people were quietly eating and talking amongst each other. He clears his throat to indicate his presence.
"Can I help you bro?" A brown-haired teen wearing a letterman jacket speaks up.
"Yes you can. May I ask what's the name of this table?"
"What's it to you Junior? You'll get this table next year." A jock says.
"How cute, you think I'm a Junior. I'm only a Freshman."
"Seriously? You could pull off as a College Freshman." The jock says quite impressed.
"Who authorised for the food to be catered to this table?" Paul asks while holding up his notepad.
"Your mum" The first teen who spoke up to him says laughing
"Your mum, is that Indian or Indonesian?" Paul says normal but is avoid a clear sarcastic tone.
"What?"
"Why is there expensive food being served on this table?"
"Because, we've been at school for nearly 4 years and deserve the high class food. What's your beef bro." The brown-haired teen says losing his patience
"I'm not your bro. I'm Paul and while the rest of the school has the cafeteria food which looks and taste like sloop, you guys are eating foods way too expensive for a public school to be providing in the first place."
"So your point is?" A blonde girl speaks up, raising her eyebrow.
"My point is that the school should remove this and provide enough state standard food for the entire school."
The whole table laughs at this, "Ooo, I'm so scared. I shit my pants."
"You want me to escort you to the nurse's office to change your pants and underwear?" Paul points into the direction of the cafeteria's exit.
"..No! I-"
Paul begins to write down in his notebook.
"Listen man, your way over your head, now why don't you just run along and be a little good freshman and let us enjoy the rest of lunch." The brown haired teen spoke for the table.
"Aha" Paul says not really concentrating while continuing to write down in his notebook
"Bro, what the fuck are you writing?"
"Yep" Paul says again playing stupid, while still writing.
The guy clearly had a short temper, he got up, "Listen here you little sh-" Paul went to the teen and immediately sat him down again, he was shocked that such a young teenager just got put in his spot. Literally!
"So I'm guessing this is the Senior's table. So you've got some expensive food here. Salmon, shrimp, truffles! Do you have any idea how much they cost per kilo?"
"I don't know, we don't pay for it."
"I'll be making a personal complaint to the school and to Mr Barkin."
The whole tables laughs again, "You're funny man. Good ahead and good luck, Mr Barkin won't do jack bro. We've known him for almost 4 years and he's a tough nut to break. I honestly doubt he'd be helping you out with this. Face it kid, you're out of your element zone."
"I'll be the judge of that." Paul says clutching his notebook under his arm.
"Oh and if somehow you make this go away, me and my boys will be putting the hurt on you. Personally." The brown-haired teen says, as Paul started to walk off from the table and looked back at the Senior smiling.
"Try me" Paul says confidently that no one would put the hurt on him.
Paul walks back to his original table. And takes a seat. "What did I miss?" Paul says as all three teenagers stared at him as if they just saw him fly across the room.
"What's up... Did I Le-" Paul looks behind him as he's confused what they were staring at and looks back at the trio, "What?"
"Nothing." All three said at the same time.
Paul was a bit confused, he looked back at the Seniors' Table and realised that they looked a bit distressed after that confrontation. Paul looks back at the three with a small grin on his face, "You didn't think I would let them touch me, do you?"
"No" All of them answered.
"Were more... What's the word?" Kim says.
"Shooketh?" Monique says.
"Unexcepted." Josh says
"No. That was quite brave what you did there. Most people would avoid speaking up or even talking to Seniors. Especially for a new guy and one the first day of the school year."
"And as a Freshman" Monique points out.
"I fight for things that deserved to be equal. After all, equal rights are important. I mean look at Monique's food. How much did you pay for this?"
"I believed that tax payers dollars paid for this." Monique says.
"Back at home we had a canteen."
"How was the food there?" Kim asks.
"Better than what's on that tray."
They all laughed.
"So you see Mr Barkin, that's why I think the Seniors' Table should be removed and the budget for the food being shipped and catered, which I found out is daily. And the budget should be used to prepare the cafeteria food to at least be compliant to the minimum nutrition requirement of the State of Colorado." Paul finishes explaining his long speech after school to Mr Barkin in regards to the Seniors' Table.
Mr Barkin sat in silence trying to comprehend and understand what Paul said to him.
"Let me guess this straight Canonopoulos. You want to abolish the Seniors' Table, so that the entire school body can enjoy their cafeteria food, instead of the Seniors' getting their high quality food catered for their last 2 years of school?"
"If... you mean two years that school starts in August and ends in June of the following year and After the new year is dubbed the 2nd year then... in a way, yes." Paul says realising what Barkin meant by 2 years.
Barkin thinks for a few seconds and says, "Request denied."
"Deni- How can you deny something with only one person saying denied! Isn't this issue supposed to be taken up to the school council or education department of public schools? Or at least the school's board members?"
"We could, but we don't want to waste our time with this issue."
"But your losing a lot of money." Paul points out.
"Correction. The government is losing a lot of money."
"But those resources and money could be useful in a different sector."
"Listen Karaopulos. Like I told you earlier today, I don't tell you how to run your school, so you shouldn't be telling me how to run our school."
"So now its our school now, not the government?" Paul says folding his arms.
"Watch it, you're walking on a very tight rope Calolpouloras. Why didn't you talk to the Principal about this matter?"
"Because the school secretary told me she was busy, and she said you're the second highest in power here."
"That should be about right. And the answer is still no."
"Bu-" Paul doesn't even finish saying the word.
"End of conversation! I don't what you to bring it up again."
Paul wasn't happy about this, but he wouldn't give up this easily, so he replied back "Okay fine" Paul thought it was pointless asking the school again and next time he would have to try higher authority.
"Good. You're dismissed cadet." Mr Barkin says with his hands intertwined together.
Paul gets up from his chair and is about to exit the office.
"Oh, tell Mr Flagg I'll be with him in 5 minutes time. He's just waiting outside in the hall."
"Sure thing." Paul says before walking out and he spotted a tall, older and quite muscular teen sitting on a chair next to Mr Barkin's officer. He looked very strong at the upper body, but had chicken legs.
"Hey, your surname is Flagg?"
"How did you know? You Psychic dude?"
"(Slight chuckle) I wish. Mr Barkin told me a Mr Flagg is waiting in the hallway. He said he'll be with you in 5 minutes."
"Oh thanks, man. I didn't know how long he'll be, I'm going to be late for football practice."
"Oh, well if it nothing serious you'd proabably be on your way soon."
"Well my parents and teachers think its serious."
"Is it about your grades? Uh actually I shouldn't be pushing for details. I'll let you be. Mr Barkin will be a few minutes." Paul says about to walk off.
"No it's okay dude. It's just that.. they really want me to pass this year. I'm repeating being a Junior."
"You failed last year?"
"That's what they said, I personally think I did alright. I think."
"You have a hard time learning and understanding the content being taught?"
"My teachers think that I'll pass this year, but they are a bit worried that I won't pass Senior year within my first year. They think I'll repeat my last year."
"Well what about scholarships? I'm not familiar with them, but don't they hand them out to best performing players?"
"Well my dad thinks I can get a football scholarship. But my mum wants me to have a backpack plan"
"You mean back up?" Paul corrects the blonde.
"There's police in the building?" the blonde teen looks to both of his sides.
"No, I meant that your dad wants you to play football, but your mum wants you to do something else on top of playing football."
"Exactly. You get it. You must be smart man. You play football too?"
"I dabble in Aussie Rules back at home."
"What's that?"
"It's my nation's national sport. You see I'm an Foreign Exchange Student."
"Ohh, the school mentioned about someone coming to attend from Austria."
"Australia" Paul corrects him.
"Oh. I see."
"Yeah, also if you need anyone help with studying for a test, I'd be more than happy to test and help you out."
"Really?"
"Sure, I guess."
"Thanks man, I appreciate it. Oh, I'm Brick by the way."
"Paul."
"So how's being a Junior?"
"Freshman" Paul corrects Brick
"What?"
"I'm a Freshman."
"Really! I would have never guessed it. You look a lot older. How old are you?"
14"
"Geez, I remember when I was 14, 3 years ago."
"So.. this yea-or I should say next year, you're supposed to graduate?"
"That's it."
Paul and Brick sat in silence for a few seconds before Paul speaks up again, "You should be fine man, just concentrate on class, do all the homework and take notes for future tests or examinations. And try to spend as much time as you can studying and revising at home."
"Playing football cuts into that sometimes."
"Well create a schedule and try to balance out your daily activities."
"I guess I should try that. Man you sound super smart."
"Thanks, I like to offer my best advice possible."
"Thanks man."
"Flagg, come one in" Mr Barkin says opening his office door
"That's me, good meeting you Paul." Brick stood up and head towards Mr Barkin's office.
"You too Brick."
Brick entered Mr Barkin's office, Barkin and Paul stared at each other for a few seconds.
"Mr Barkin" Paul says with a slight nod.
"Cancelopulos" Mr Barkin says nodding back, once again pronouncing his surname incorrectly.
'Figures' Paul thinks, Mr Barkin won't even get his surname right. But he had to give him some time after all. Others would have gotten it on the second try guaranteed.
Mr Barkin closes his door and Paul stands up heading towards the school exit.
"Phew. What a first day of school."
Paul had just gotten home from school. He was a bit exhausted, being a first day of school and all. He puts down his backpack, grabbing his iPad and notebook in the process and heads upstairs to a certain room.
He heads into a room with the afternoon sun glaring through the enclosed window. The room consisted of a black desk and chair, which has a monitor and a laptop on it, a few of his recent purchases from Smarty Marty. He sits down and syncs up his laptop onto the monitor screen, opening up his iPad and notebook with a pen ready.
He begins browsing on the internet and begins searching up for Minimum requirements for public school cafeteria food in the USA.
Well, well, well. Paul isn't taking any funny business in regards to that complaint at school today. The youn gteenager
After about 30 minutes of research, typing and writing Paul closes his book. Enough has been done and would have to wait for a few days in regards to this issue. Paul begins doing his homework for the night. Relatively light for the first day back. Nothing too hard or technical.
Paul dropped his pen on the table and stands up to stretch, he looks out at the window to look at the early evening sky. He thinks about the past week that he's been here in Middleton. So far it's been great, his made a couple of friends, the town's quite friendly and he has a whole house to himself. A few bad vibes about the school, but he has dealt with some others in his past. Thinking of the brighter side of the page, Paul thinks to himself.
'1 school day down, 359 to go' Paul thinks as he sits back down going onto his laptop and continues to work.
Kim was in her room completing her homework. A few hours earlier she spoke to Ron via Facetime, both teens have missed each other, but it was the best type of communication. But it wasn't the same as before. In person.
She put down her pen after an hour of writing on her desk. For the last week she had been a bit down in the dumps about her best friend leaving. But today her mood shifted quite dramatically, mainly because she found some new friends, but she might of fallen for a certain brown-haired teen.
Never in her life has she ever thought about a boy like this. Ever!
He looked so cute and handsome. She couldn't believe that he stood up against Bonnie. Ron tried so many times, he did his best nonetheless, but she always got under their skin in the end.
She sighed in happiness, but abruptly stopped herself. She only meet this guy less than 12 hours ago. What was she thinking! She had been fantasising about Paul! He wasn't going to stick around at this school forever. He was a freaking foreign exchange student for crying out loud! He wasn't living here in Middleton forever. He would be leaving here after 2 years.
So many confusing thoughts, Kim couldn't think straight.
"Knock Knock"
"Come in" Kim calls out
"Hey Kimmy" Ann says to her daughter as she enters her room
"Hey Mum, everything alright?"
"Everything is all good dear, just checking up on you."
"I'm all good mum." Kim smiles and she continues to complete her work. As her mother looks over her and notices the smile on her daughter's face. As a mother, she knew the face she was making."
"I know that look on your face." Ann smiled at her daughter.
"What look?"
"Come on Kim, I've seen that look before, when we first bought Mr. Pandaroo, you had that same look on your face."
"Meaning?"
"You loved that plush toy. Tell me... Was it a boy?" Ann says folding her arms playfully.
"Mum! Please, it wasn't a boy." Kim says lying.
"Ah uh, sure. Don't worry Kim, both my parents were playful when it come to crushes, especially your dad. I remember the day he met my parents. But that's for another day and don't worry Kimmy. I'll keep your secret safe. I promise."
"Thanks mum."
'Knew it' Ann says in her mind, she didn't want to say it out loud so that her daughter wouldn't be embarrassed.
"Anyway, I see you're busy. I'll let you finish off your homework." Ann respecting Kim's priorities.
"Thanks"
Ann turns away, but not for too long as she hears a voice behind her.
"Oh mum. Before you leave" Kim walks up to her and hugs her "Thanks for that talk today mum. It really cheered up my spirits today."
"Anytime Kimmy."
Despite her being upset about Ron leaving, she would soon have to learn and adapt to this change eventually. But that talk gave her a boost in morale, as her mum left Kim's room, she continued to do some homework, finish off some research in regards to her teen hero jon and clean up her room for a bit. Soon enough it was almost 11PM.
Kim wrapped herself around her blankets, thinking about her first day of high school. She still can't stop thinking about Paul. Maybe if she doesn't think about, in time she will probably forget about him. Maybe today was only a fluke. Tomorrow he would hang out with others at school. Besides maybe he into other girls. Kim continues to stare at her ceiling before falling asleep.
Author Notes:
- Just to confirm. Joshua is the same year level as Kim, Monique and Paul in this Fanfiction series. In the main series, there's speculation that he was one year level higher than Kim, as he never appeared or mentioned after Kim's junior prom (AKA So the Drama). Thus could be the reason why they split up and both moved on.
- Also Josh has been in Middleton since First year of Middle School.
- To educate you who Leigh Matthew is, he's a former Australian rules footballer and coach. He used to play for my favourite team Hawthorn during the late 60s until 1985. He is officially recognised as the best player of the 20th Century and is part of the elite Legend status in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
- Monique's surname was never revealed in the series so her full name will be; Monique Symone. Sharing the same surname as her voice actress, Raven Symone. Most characters without a surname will inherit the same surname as the voice actor or actresses that portray them.
- Also Monique appeared in Sophomore year in the cartoon, in the fanfiction she will be introduced in the Freshman year and she'll very soon apply for a job at Club Banana.
- Throughout the original Kim Possible series, Mr. Barkin mentioned that it took him 2 years to complete his Senior year, suggesting he had to repeat his final year and he announced that Brick Flagg took 7 years to complete high school debating whether he repeated a year level 3 times during his tenure. I personally think that Mr Barkin thinks that two years means when the school year crosses over the December to January it turns into it's second year, as I believe he's a smart man and wouldn't think that he would repeat Senior level twice as he mentioned to Ron in the Graduation episode, but he thinks too technically at times Steve Barkin. I have reason to believe that, Brick repeated a year level 2 times. Meaning he completed Freshman and Sophomore year within 1 year. And repeated both Junior and Senior year. If this is the case, in Barkin's words he would have said 7 Years to complete high school, attending 6 years of actual school. I want to clarify this and that each school year is 1 year, while Barkin thinks 1 year of school is 2 years, meaning 6 years of education is 7 years. I personally think this is better case as I didn't want Brick to sound too old when he attends high school. Meaning Brick is 3 years older the Kim. He is currently 17 in Kim's Freshman year turning 18 sometime next year, but no later than June. Sorry If this is confusing.
