Charlie and Bill exchanged glances. How were they supposed to take the news that was just offered to them? Narcissa wasn't just saying that Harry was a Black. But Sirius's nephew. That is if Regulus's child was still alive like they were hinting at.
"How is that even possible? I thought Regulus was killed years before Harry was born." Bill said a bit unnerved.
Narcissa shook her head. "That is what everyone was told. He went into hiding shortly after he found out he was with child. He was afraid of what the Light side would do when they found out who the other father was. So he went into hiding. But he was found. Or at least the child was found shortly after his birth. He was taken right out from under his nose. He laid down to take a nap with the child, and when he woke. The child was gone. The family bond was blocked. The only reason he knew that the child was still alive was the family tapestry."
Charlie ran a hand over his face and groaned. "Do we even want to know who the other father is?"
Lucius cringed. "I believe at this time, it is not wise to give that information. As of right now, we can only guess that Harry is the missing child. Until we have more proof, we need to keep this information to the five of us."
"He's my cousin…. Isn't he…" Draco said as his face seemed to pale even more than his natural pale complexion. "That's why I had been drawn to him in Madam Malkins. And I messed that up."
Bill gave the younger boy a sympathetic look. "From what I have been able to pick up over the years, you didn't mess anything up. The boy has been raised a certain way to be compliant to certain people. And I can only pray that our parents had nothing to do with the manipulations."
"You cant honestly say that they were not involved at this point." Charlie almost seemed to growl. "When has mom and dad ever used the muggle entrance to the platform? You can't tell me it was a coincidence that they just happened to use it the year Ron went to school, and met the poor muggle raised child who hadn't even been told how the platform worked. No they were placed there."
Bill shook his head. "How much of the boy's life has been planned out like a damn chess game. Every move is calculated to make sure he sees things a certain way. That damn Goat had to have known. There is no other reason for him to calculate things to that extent. He is trying his damnedest to make the boy a weapon."
Lucius growled. "Where is the boy?"
"We left him with the twins. They wont let him out of their sight until we get back." Bill said with a heavy sigh. "But we can't let him go back to the Burrow. I don't trust my parents any longer. Not when Dumbledore has so much pull with them."
"I agree. We can't allow him to go home with us. If I wasn't back for other reasons, I would just kidnap him and take him to the reserve. I'd like to see them get past the dragons."
Lucius sat back in his chair and eyed the two brothers. "How committed are you to that?"
Bill and Charlie exchanged glances. "Very."
Lucius nodded. "There is to be a little noise happening tonight. A little nudge to what is to come later this year. If you can get the boy separated, we can take him to safety. Let the Light think that he had been kidnapped by other Death Eaters. We just need to make sure we are all seen."
"I can take him." Draco said as he looked up at his father with a determined look in his eyes. "I can use the portkey. Take him to Malfoy Manor till you can come and take him to the safe house. I know we have a not so favorable history. But I feel like I need to do this."
Lucius looked over at the two Weasleys. They didn't seem to mind Draco's request, so he nodded at his son. He then handed the portkey of a spoon from his pocket and handed it to his son. "This one should be able to take up to five people. I have a feeling you will need to take more than the boy. Let Narcissa and I worry about the logistics. You hand your portkey to one of them. They can meet you there once they can get away from the rest of their family. And we will get them to the safe house."
Draco took the ring of his finger and handed it to the oldest Weasley. "The password is Honor."
Bill put the ring on his finger and nodded. "We need to inform the twins what is going on. How will we know when it is time to get him to safety?"
"Believe me. You will know." Lucius said with a slight cringe. "I would also appreciate it, if you could possibly refrain from cursing Narcissa and I if we cross paths. It would get a bit more complicated if that was to happen."
The Weasley boys nodded and headed out to find the rest of the Weasley clan.
XOXOX
Harry huffed as he glared up at the twins. He wasn't sure when they had decided to attach themselves to his side, but it was getting a bit much. He did like the twins, he just never spent that much time with them other than quidditch practice. But he also found it oddly comforting to have them so close.
"Fred…. If you poke my cheek one more time I will bite your finger." Harry said with a slight growl as he also playfully nipped at the finger that Fred had been attempting to poke Harry with.
"I'm George." Fred said with a smirk. Harry rolled his eyes at him and shook his head. That was when Fred realized something. He glanced over at his twin to see that he had also come to the same conclusion. Harry could tell them apart. Something that not even their family could do. Bill and Charlie could if they concentrated a bit more. "What were you brooding about?"
Harry huffed. "The two of you. Between you and the other two, I haven't been able to see my friends this entire trip. I mean a break from them was good for a few moments. But I would have liked to spend some time with them."
"Sorry, that would be our doing." Bill said as he walked in with his brother Charlie. Charlie went to sit next to Harry as Bill started placing privacy wards around them. Charlie patted Harry on the shoulder to try and reassure him as the twins seemed to get a bit nervous. "I'll explain a few things. But we may not have time to explain everything. Do you at least trust the four of us enough to know we'd keep you safe."
Harry looked around nervously. But he knew he did feel safe. Safer than he had in his life. He nodded.
Bill smiled down at him. "Good. Short version. There are no wards at your relatives house. I would have felt them. Charlie and I went to seek help with an unlikely source. And tonight you will be going with them. More will be explained then. Whatever happens tonight. You stay with the twins. And…. Trust the Malfoy boy."
Harry's eyes widened in surprise. But he nodded nonetheless less. The twins seemed a bit skeptical. But they knew their oldest brothers would never put them in danger. If they had somehow come to trust the Malfoys, then they had a good reason too.
"No child should be left in the situation you were in. Our parents should have done more. And if we had known sooner. We would have." Charlie said as he brought Harry into a side hug. He felt the boy tense a bit. But when he realized Charlie wasn't going to let him go or hurt him, he relaxed into the awkward hug. "There is going to be a lot explained later. And I want you to keep an open mind. Can you do that for us?"
Harry gave the man a sad smile. "I've known things weren't adding up for years now. I've just been powerless to do anything about it. So I've just sat back and waited."
"No more waiting." Bill said with his own sad smile. "I am curious though. You didn't seem to put up much of a fuss when I mentioned the Malfoy boy. And it reminded me of a conversation we had earlier. When you met him and his mother. What did you feel?"
Harry thought about that for a moment. "Malfoy and I have always kind of been drawn to each other. I always know where he is in class or the great hall. And from what I've noticed he is the same. As for his mother. Oddly enough I felt comforted when I saw her."
Charlie let out the breath he had been holding and tugged Harry even closer to his side. "Well, you just confirmed that we have made the right choice."
Right then there was a loud boom from somewhere in the camp grounds. The twins seemed to jump in surprise. But the older two calmly got to their feet.
"Remember what we said. Stay with the twins. Try to stay out of sight of any one else from the family. Find the Malfoy boy if you can. And don't try to join the fight. At this point I am hoping it is just a diversion." Bill got his wand out and ushered the three younger ones out of the tent, while Charlie went to distract the rest of the tent residents. Outside was chaos. There were people running in every direction. Some heading for the woods, some heading for the direction all the chaos seemed to have originated from. And some seemed to have no clue what way they should be running.
"Towards the woods. The others will be coming out of the tent here in a few. I convinced them to stay put till I checked out what was going on, but Ron and Hermione saw Harry leave with us. They will be looking for him." Charlie said as he quickly tried to usher them away from the tent. Harry bit his lip and looked around. He saw Draco stop at the edge of the woods and stop. His gray eyes were watching him intently. Without even questioning his actions he turned to the Weasleys.
"None of you can come with me." Harry said and held up his hand and cast a wordless silencing spell. "No, the moment your parents realize that any of you are gone. You wont be able to come home. They will either think you kidnapped me, or were killed trying to protect me. The more we have of you keeping an ear out for unsavory details about my life the safer I feel."
Harry took the silencing spell off of the Weasleys and took off for the direction he had last seen Draco. He wasn't even sure if they were following, but he had a feeling that at least one of the twins had tried to grab him. He had barely run into the tree line when he felt someone grab his arm. He turned to let out a slight relieved sigh when he realized that the one to grab him was Draco.
"Where are the others?" Draco asked as he glanced over his shoulder.
"Not coming." Harry replied a bit nervously. He had a feeling they weren't that far behind him. When Draco lifted an eyebrow at him, he knew the other boy didn't believe him. "I asked them not to come with me. I don't want them under suspicion. Now if you don't mind, We need to get out of here before they decide I've lost my mind and follow."
Draco smirked slightly and brought out the spoon. "When you take a hold I will activate it."
Harry gulped nervously, but took a hold of the portkey with Draco. The other boy whispered the password and Harry felt the familiar tug he had felt the day before. He landed on his knees, as Draco landed perfectly. Harry scowled at him. "God, mess up your hair or something so I don't feel like a complete hopeless case."
Draco raised an eyebrow at him again. He held out his hand to help Harry to his feet and was a bit surprised when he took it. "What on earth are you going on about?"
"You!" Harry demanded as he waved his hands up and down in frustration. "I end up on my knees and you don't even have a hair out of place."
Draco rolled his eyes. "Of course, I'm a Malfoy. We don't do anything without grace."
Harry glared at him for a second. He looked Draco up and down and without warning he jumped at the older boy. His target. That perfect slicked back head of hair. He had easily taken Draco by surprise and had his hair fully disheveled before he took a step back and nodded proudly.
"There. That's better." Harry said with a smirk as Draco scowled back. Harry snickered. "Your scowl has nothing on Snape. Maybe if you ask, he'll teach you the art of the perfect intimidating scowl. Right now you just look like a kicked puppy. Well… maybe not a puppy. An angry Kitten is more accurate."
"Potter! I do not look like a kitten!" Draco protested. He stopped trying to fix his hair. Sadly, Harry had completed his mission. His hair was not going back to slicked back perfection any time soon.
"Meow." Harry said as his smile widened. Draco growled and took a leap at his school rival. The boys both ended up sprawled on the floor. Draco straddling the boy's stomach. And his fingers digging into the smaller boy's sides.
"Take it back this instant!" Draco demanded as Harry laughed hysterically under him.
"Not… a… Chance." Harry weased. He was about to flip the boy over when Draco was pulled off Harry by and angered Lucius. Draco pouted as Harry laughed even harder.
"What on earth is going on?" Lucius demanded. Narcissa quickly went to Harry and looked him over. She was a bit surprised to find that the boy was still giggling. "Did you hit him with a tickling hex?"
"No! I didn't use magic on him." Draco demanded with a huff. Harry meowed agian and Draco shot him a murderous glare. "Damn it Potter! I am not a kitten!"
Narcissa and Lucius looked down at the boys confused. They figured Harry would have a bit of an issue leaving with their son. What they were not expecting was how the boys had no animosity between them.
Harry sighed when he saw the confusion on the other Malfoy's faces. "I was told to keep an open mind and trust you. And to be honest… I feel like I've been freed. It's a bit… unnerving… yet relieving all at the same time. I'd eventually like an explanation. But honestly. I'm exhausted. Are the Weasley's going to show up tonight? Or do I have time to rest and wrap my head around all this. I'm not sure if this whole situation has sunk in yet. And I'd rather have a mental breakdown without an audience."
Narcissa smirked. She shot a look up at her husband and knew he was thinking the same thing. The boy seemed to have more Black traits than they had expected. "We will let you settle into a room for now. We are not sure when we will be invaded by red heads. But I'm sure it will be sooner than later. We were not expecting to have guests, so we don't have a room ready for you."
"I'm sure whatever accommodations you have in mind will be more glamorous than anything I have stayed in. I'd even take a couch at this point. Or a blanket and a pillow. I've gotten pretty good at making a decently comfortable blanket nest." Harry said with a slight yawn. "No cupboards though. I'd probably throw a tantrum. Like a toddler and i'd do it with no shame."
Lucius lifted an eyebrow at the child. "I have a feeling that the eldest Weasley's guess was correct. Your uncle had retrieved you from a cupboard?"
Harry shrugged. "Was my bedroom till the whole: You're a wizard, Harry, debacle came about. Still got shoved in there as a punishment from time to time… Now that I think about it. He should have shoved Aunt Petunia in that damn cupboard. That frying pan hurt."
The Malfoy's stared at Harry, slack jawed and pale. He blinked owlishly at them then shrugged. "I'm guessing the Weasley's didn't get into those kinds of details. Any chance the three of you would be willing to obliviate each other and forget I opened my mouth?"
"You lived in a cupboard!" Draco explained and Harry blushed. Draco sighed heavily and ran a hand over his face. "I have a feeling we are going to have a lot to talk about in the next few days. He can stay with my mother. At least for the night. The house elves will need at least a day to get one of the guest rooms set up. And I'm sure they'll have a few more to get ready when our other guests arrive."
Narcissa smiled proudly at her son and nodded. "Very well Draco. Go ahead and take him to your rooms. We shall all talk in the morning."
Draco nodded and started to head for the door. Harry on the other hand stood nervously in the same spot. He bit his lower lip and glanced over at Narcissa. He opened his mouth to say something, but quickly thought better of it.
"You may ask me anything. I will not find it unwelcome." Narcissa said with a knowing smirk. She had a feeling she knew what was wrong with the boy. He was, after all a Black.
"Can I…" Harry's cheeks flushed. "I don't know why. But I think I need a hug."
Narcissa smiled and easily wrapped the boy in a motherly embrace. She ignored the tears soaking her robes as the boy started to cry. "There is no shame in needing affection from time to time, Harry. Especially not after being seperated from family for as long as you have. If I knew the bonds were still active, I would have suggested you staying with Draco from the start. It may take some time getting used to, but you should probably stay close to Draco or I for the next couple days."
Harry just nodded. "You're like an Aunt to me aren't you? It's odd. I can feel the connection. But I can't exactly pinpoint what it means."
Narcissa chuckled lightly. "A cousin. Along with Draco of course. May I ask what you feel towards him?"
Harry shrugged. "Brother."
Harry blushed and pulled away from Narcissa's embrace. "I think I should probably go to sleep now. And hopefully this isn't some sort of messed up dream."
