Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Monster High. I do not own the original story this is based on.
Tucker Foley woke up as the sun's rays stood on his eyes. The boy tried to ignore the morning hours till he remembered he had plans, including a video date with a certain bespectacled girl.
"Oh man, Velma," He said as he got out of bed and went to get himself ready.
He quickly showered, brushed his teeth, and put on some clean clothes. He even put on some hair gel to look even better.
Sure, it was a virtual date, but he wanted to impress Velma.
Once done, he grinned at his reflection.
"Dude, you got this," tucker said to himself in confidence.
He just needed a few things, and he'd be ready.
The boy had taken a few steps out the front door when he heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, Tucker."
The boy turned to see his best friend, Sam Manson, wearing her signature gothic outfit outside. And while he was glad to see her, he didn't think it would be so soon.
Tucker at least wanted time to meet Spectra and form a plan that would ensure he didn't get beat up, or worse. Not that he expected the goth girl to go berserk on him.
Right?
"Hey, Sam," Tucker said, happy and nervous to see her.
Sam smiled and explained how they returned home early and how much she missed everything, even school.
"We should get Danny," Sam said, still excited. She grabbed Tucker by the hand as she dragged him.
The boy was dreading on the inside.
"Uh...Sam..." Tucker tried but lost his nerve
"Come on! I can't wait to meet Danny, but Tucker says he's busy right now.
"He's... he's busy right now," Tucker answered.
"With what?" Sam snarked playfully. "There's nothing much happening right now."
Tucker, not wanting to face any repercussions, gets out his PDA as Sam pulls him along the streets. He attempts to notify Danny, but the girl kept looking around, asking what was new and exciting, then scoffing again at what could count in a town where ghost attacks were daily.
However, they weren't nearly as active in the last month.
"Well, where is he?" Sam asked. She stopped to look around but then decided to call the ghost boy. But received no answer.
"He must be doing patrol," Tucker said swiftly. "We better leave him be. We'll probably meet him later.
"Ok."
Sam walked away as Tucker sweated bullets. He was going to be in big trouble unless he finds a way out.
Flying high through the sky, Danny was doing a patrol. He had a few minutes left before he had to meet Spectra and wanted to make sure no ghosts, or other criminal activity, was causing trouble.
A troubling thought since his archenemy is the city's mayor.
"This seriously seems like something out of a horror movie. Right when the bad guy shows up," Danny said as he continued his patrol.
Eventually, he landed and gave one last glance around before rendezvousing with Spectra. Things seem quiet tonight, and the boy hoped it'd stay that way.
"I hope I don't jinx things when I ask for tonight to be normal," He said in sarcasm
arriving at the cemetery in town.
One good about the supernatural world, they always had great ways to travel quickly across the globe. And there was no wait as Danny saw his ghostly girl waiting for him. With a smile, Spectra waited for him to land before she greeted him with a hug.
"Hey there, Danny. Die-rling," she said.
Danny smiled.
"Hey, Spectra," he replied.
She began to call him that, as her world's kind of pet name.
The two agreed Danny would come in human form as Spectra was not yet ready to reveal she was dating a celebrity in the monster world. Of course, Danny had seemed offended when he heard he was only a high C-lister. Even then, his popularity was among young monsters.
"C-lister?" Danny said in shock.
"I'm afraid so. You are doing the right thing, but there are still monster who believe you betray your own kind, Spectra said
"Still beats being public enemy number one," He said before turning to the ghoul.
"So, what's the plan?" He asked.
Spectra smiled.
"Oh, there is so much we can do. There's the maul, that new Scary Rotter film coming out soon, and much more!" Spectra explained. The excitement was evident in her voice.
Her date raised a brow.
"Scary Rotter?" Danny asked. It had a similar name to an already critically acclaimed series in the human world.
"You'll love it. It's a classic," She said, not noticing his confusion.
She took him by the hand, and the two ghosts were off on their date.
With it being decided as a trip to the maul. The place was packed with monsters as they shopped and dropped, with some having their heads pop off. Luckily zombies can handle that. The lights were eerie yet welcoming on each of the signs and lights.
Danny was amazed at the sights of the monster maul. There were similarities between it and the human mall.
There were stores, kiosks, businesses, and a food court.
The only difference is that they had a more spooky vibe to it, hard-pressed on the spooky side.
Still, Danny found himself fascinated by his surroundings. a part of him enjoyed the sights.
"So, this is it," He said.
"Yeah, isn't it the ghoulest," Spectra said.
Danny rose a brow at the slang. It seemed like a pun, which he enjoyed, but he had no idea how to react. Then again, who was he to judge a monster's culture?
"Come one," Spectra said, taking his hand. "My ghoulfriends wanted to meet you again after finding out about us." She said as she leads him to their rendevous.
Danny smiled, happy to see his girlfriend happy, but he noticed the looks from various monsters along the way. Though an outcast at his school, the boy had never known a bee level of rejection as the monsters' reactions ranged from surprised to disgusted. They were not happy seeing a human amongst monsters, as far as they knew.
And I thought high school was bad. Danny thought.
He saw one monster, a witch, send him a stink eye. There was no hexing or spell casting, but that didn't mean the ghost boy wasn't on edge. Especially after his date with a which the past summer. Still, it was better than what he dealt with Dash.
It didn't make him feel any braver, though, as other monsters and ghouls took notice.
And it wasn't just the looks. He could hear the various comments from other monsters.
"Oh, great, another normie."
"Hey, isn't that Spectra? What's she doing with a normie?"
"I thought the maul was a place in boy monsters could gang out."
It was ridiculous as Danny contemplated on each word. And it wasn't long before things could get ugly as Danny bumped into a monster.
"Hey," Danny said.
"Watch it, normie," a vampire snarked, walking away.
"Uh...sorry?" Danny said in a somewhat apologetic tone. He knew the blood drinker was wrong, but it only takes one spark to start a fire. Though that didn't stop the boy from commenting once he was out of earshot.
"Sheesh, what's his problem?"
"I'm sorry about this," Spectra said. She turned to Danny with soft sadness. "I knew things would be tense, but it had never been like this."
"You mean the bumping or snide comments?"
"Both."
The ghost girl glanced around, now taking in the full view of the shoppers. While not everyone was staring, most were doing their best to ignore the couple, she was not noticing anything but negative emotions. It was scary.
Fortunately, such thoughts were cut out by a voice and friendly faces.
"Spectra! Over here!" cried the voice of Frankie Stein. And she wasn't alone. With her were Draculaura, Clawdeen, Cleo, Ghoulia, and Lagoona. The group of ghouls were seated in a nice cafe with shopping bags around them. It was almost like a moat of teenage splurging.
"Hi ghouls," Spectra waved at them
"Hey, Danny," The ghouls said upon seeing him.
"Hi," Danny said, happy to see some friendly faces.
"So, what the latest hex?" Spectra asked.
"Nothing much. We were just doing some fearious shopping. The summer sales can have the most unorthopox times," Cleo commented as she glanced at her new pair of shoes she had on.
"I'll say," Danny quipped, noticing the amount of bags.
"So, Danny?" Draculaura asked as she gave the boy a once over. "How come you're not in ghost form?"
Danny glanced at himself before noting some more looks he was getting. Though they were less in snideness and more curious.
"Spectra and I thought it would be better if I came like this. We don't want to reveal the full details till later," the ghost boy explained, taking a seat with Spectra.
The ghouls were confused. It was after a short explanation did they understand. However, that didn't mean it was completely agreeable.
"Sounds like nonsense. You shouldn't be ashamed of dating a celebrity, even if he is a C-lister," Cleo stated. She turned to Danny. "No offense."
"But they should be allowed to progress at any pace they want," Lagoona added.
"Not to mention how the monsterazzi will act once they find out," Clawdeen said.
The ghost boy and ghouls discussed this a bit more before Frankie changed the subject.
"So how have you been, Danny?" Frankie asked.
"It's been alright. Ghosts are starting to show up again, so I',m up at night fighting," Danny answered.
"Must be tough, especially with Amity Park now being placed on the haunting list," Clawdeen remarked.
Danny cocked his head to the side. He had never heard of a haunting list. He turned to Spectra, who had just brought some drinks for them, a couple of monster-style lattes. It was perfectly fine for humans to drink, but Danny looked to the barista, just in case, and found no ill will.
"Hey, Spectra? What's the haunting list?" Danny asked, taking a sip of the drink. It was delicious.
"It's something of a tradition laid down by the Spirit Education Department. When a ghost of any kind reaches a certain age, they are to choose a location to stalk and haunt for a few years in order to see if they can handle the world. And this year, Amity Park is on the list, so more ghosts might be in your town," Spectra explained.
"Oh, great. Just what I need, more work," Danny snarked.
"Aahhh..." Ghoulia dryly rasped.
"Exactly," Cleo added.
Danny nodded in agreement. He didn't know what the zombie girl said but was pretty sure he agreed.
"Don't worry. It doesn't start until later in the school year," Spectra added. Though it didn't make Danny feel any better.
"Alright, men. The Fentons are on the other side of town, so give this guy as much as you can!" Ordered an officer as he and his men set up a barricade with their patrol cars. The men were anxious as they stared at a giant slimy ghost with six tentacles.
The creature roared loudly, like in a movie, as he slithered along the roads. People screamed in terror.
Sam dragged Tucker, not Fenton Works, hoping to arm themselves.
All the while, Tucker frantically did everything to communicate with Danny.
After a few minutes of chatting, Danny finally noticed his phone going off every few seconds and checked to see the ghost alerts.
"I gotta go," Danny said, putting the device away.
"You have to go, right now?" Spectra said softly.
"I'm afraid so. Tucker said this ghost is tough. Not to mention the damage he's causing," Danny replied.
"I'm coming with you," Spectra said.
"You don't have to," Danny said.
"I want to," Spectra said with some excitement. She grabbed her Icoffin and note pad from her pockets. "Plus, this would be great for the Gory Gazette. Especially for your phan club. they'd love to see an article about you."
As the two left, Draculaura took a photo and giggled. "That ghoul is so into him," she commented.
"Ahh..." Ghoulia said.
"Couldn't say it better myself," Cleo said with a nod.
The ghostly duo left as another came it. One of whom was jumping and dancing on the inside.
"Mmmmm...all that misery."
"Where the heck is Danny?!" Sam cried out.
"I don't know," Tucker said, feeling worried.
Just then, someone appeared to the scene.
"Hey, tall, green, and gruesome, didn't someone tell you slime isn't in?" Danny shouted as he went to deal with the troublesome ghost.
Flying headfast, the ghost boy didn't give his foe time to do anything as the hero dove into the slimy body. The enormous ghost was confused until a large burst of energy came from within. With a large splat, the extra slimy ghost was scattered across the street. The citizens, grateful they were saved, couldn't help be being grossed out covered in ectoplasm.
Danny went straight to work, sucking up the goop with the Fenton Thermos as he made sure to get every spot.
"Glad that's done with," Danny muttered. He would have gone back to Spectra, but his phone went off. Reaching into his [pocket, he pulled out the phone. It's Tucker, who says they have to talk.
While the fight was short, that didn't mean Spectra didn't get some sweet photos on her phone. She reviewed them all while invisible, a precaution the ghostly duo had come to on the way over. Just because she was not hostile, did not mean nobody would leave her alone. Especially the ghost boy's parents.
"I'll be right back, Spectra," Danny said before flying off and transforming in an alley.
He walked out, looking for what Tucker was trying to tell him, realizing what he meant as he saw the familiar figure of Sam Manson.
"Danny!" Sam exclaimed, constricting the boy into a hug.
"Sam?" Danny said, surprised but happy to see her.
"I thought you were still in Europe," He said.
"I just got back," Sam said, happy to be back.
Tucker gave a nervous face as he watched, and he wasn't the only one.
The goth didn't notice the jealous look she was getting from an invisible ghost girl. Spectra felt a sting, but it subsided as Sam let go of Danny. The ghost boy had told her of his gothic friend, but it seemed he was unaware of her feelings towards him.
She knew when the chance came, she might have to explain things. Or at least introduce herself.
Sam is reunited with Danny, but doesn't know about Spectra yet. Looks like Danny will have some explaining to do, as will Tucker, once again.
And I'll make my appearance too!
But that's undecided right now.
