It was a normal Friday afternoon for Paul. The day went by quite quickly for him. He had art class last session and once again he was partners with Josh, his recently new friend. Both of them were discussing how their school week was. And boy it was an eventful week for Paul.
Paul told Josh about his first mission, recalling it as a interesting and frankly weird experience and doing a great job, single handling defeating Kim's two main arch villains, Dr Drakken and Shego. As what Paul can gather, both of them seemed a bit stunned that they weren't expecting anyone else alongside the mission besides the great Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, but they were in for a major shock.
For the past few months, Kim has been doing missions by herself and has taken quite a toll on her life. Lately she has been a more fatigue and coming to school late almost every morning. Some villains would actually get away from her, causing her to be in a grumpy and agitated mood. Since the last mission, Kim has been acting like her normal self. She was quite thankful that Paul assisted her with the mission to stop Drakken. Although Kim never mentions this, she really needed a partner to help her with the missions. She was a bit stubborn and hesitate to go with a partner, that wasn't Ron. Despite having his own dress code when in mission mode, he was actually very good out in the field. Some would same beginner's luck. But who's to say if it was luck that had to do with this? Paul asked Kim if she would think about having himself help her out full time with her missions.
Only time would tell. But he was knocking on the door to be Kim's next partner.
"So, you ended up slide tacking the green lady in the ankle?" Josh asked with curiosity.
"In all fairness, I thought she was pale. I think I might be slightly colour blind. And yeah, I went crunching in towards her ankle. She won't be putting weight on it for a few months though." Paul remarks back to Josh.
"Awesome tactic. Straight red though." Josh replies, and says he would have been sent off if it was a real life soccer match.
"Thanks man. And it would have been. It felt nice to stop those bad guys, plus to help Kim. She hasn't been the same fatigued mood for the last few days, ever since we went on that mission."
"Well, before Ron left, they used to go onto missions together in Middle school and they would always come out on top all the time. But ever since Kim has been going solo, she has struggling a bit as we can all tell because we see her everyday. I mean she has such an impeccable record of taking them down, but she really needs another partner. Especially her rivals will only get more diffucult as time progresses."
"Couldn't agree with you more, if she's going by herself, she would have a hard time taking them down. Two heads are better than one." Paul states while smiling at his last sentence.
"That's true." Josh replies
'BRINNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG'
The bell rang and almost everyone except for two students exited the room within 30 seconds, commencing the beginning of their weekend.
Paul and Josh put away their books and stationery into their backpacks, while speaking to each other.
"Any plans for the weekend?" Josh asked his friend.
"Not much, getting ahead of work, some Pokémon Go and probably hanging out with Kim if she's got time." Paul answers in straightforward manner.
"You seem to be getting pretty close to Kim lately. Any reason why?" Josh asks with a mischievous smirk and risen eyebrow on his face.
"She's a nice girl to hang out with, to talk to and she's one of my first friends I made at this school." Paul answers.
"I think it's more than that.." Josh said playing it on the down low.
"Well that's if she likes me back." Paul adds.
Josh knew that Paul had a crush on Kim since Day 1. Josh had a bit of a crush on Kim during Middle School, but it was a short phase. Josh realised that Kim would have been a hard person to date, since she always goes on missions. It's worth a try now in High school.
But, he realised that Kim herself also developed a crush on Paul, due to the fact she's a bit nervous and fidgety around the teen. If she didn't have interested in Josh, there's no point chasing a relationship with her. At one-point Kim had a bad week and went off at Paul. He felt bad for him, but Paul understood what Kim was going through losing her best friend Ron and having a hard time with her missions, forgiving her later on that same day.
Besides Josh got a date with a new girl called Monique, which is Kim's newest best friend. Paul asked both of them if they were dating and both didn't have a clue whether if they were or not. After almost a month of hanging out, they're officially dating as of this week. Much to Paul's approval for the new couple. Kim's reaction was priceless. In fact...
Flashback to last week
At Middleton High School
"You're dating Josh Mankey?" Kim says to Monique as she nods shyly.
...
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Kim squeals like a girl and hugs Monique.
"My BF is a women now!" Kim continues to hug Monique.
"Thanks Kim. Um, I'm all for hugs, but can you let go please?" Monique says a bit uncomfortable as she's being hugged in front of other students.
"Just one more minute" Kim says.
Meanwhile 10 seconds before
At Middleton High School
"Hey Paul. Guess what? Me and Monique are officially dating now" Josh says to his friend
"You are? Congratulations buddy! I knew you too would hit it off." Paul says sincerely to his new buddy.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Both boys cover their ears after hearing a loud squealing sound.
"Jesus Christ! What is that noise!" Paul covers he's ears.
"POSSIBLE!" Barkin shouts as he walks quickly towards the loud noise.
You had to be there...
"Well, you have a great weekend Paul. See you on Monday." Josh says.
"You too Josh. Good luck with that painting mural for Monique" Paul replies back.
"Thanks man." Josh said before waving to his friend.
Paul waved back and started to head off to the exit.
Since Paul enrolled into Middleton High School, he has been having a great time adapting to the American life. Making new friends, meeting new people around the town, which are quite friendly and some weird activity bouncing around. First time he landed in Colorado, his driver told him about this teen-heroine by the name of Kim Possible, who fought against villains, who's plots involved world domination, to be foiled by that said teenage girl.
Paul found it unbelievable that a young teenager going against these baddies, even he saw it in action first hand just a few days ago.
New schools are always hard at first, especially with the new crowds, but he wasn't afraid to speak up, especially about bullying, no completion of homework during detention and the Senior table that gives them 5-Star food. I mean what was this? France in the 18th Century. The rich get the food and the poor get nothing. Being the later for the school's food hierarchy.
Mr. Barkin really was on Paul's case until one day in the lunchroom Paul snapped at Bonnie and Barkin was going to suspend Paul, until Paul said about the sacrifices he has made and that people show a low level of respect within the school. He and Barkin had a long talk in his office and since then they've both been great pals. Sharing some of their closest secrets. Especially Barkin revealing for the first time to a student about his time and service during the Iraq Invasion. Both have had a high level of mutual respect for each other.
Speaking of which, here he is now.
"Ah Paul, the man I wanted to speak to." A deep male voice called out. It could only mean one person.
Paul looked back to see Barkin behind him. "Mr Barkin, what can I do for you one this fine Friday afternoon?" Paul asks in a nicely manner.
"Well Paul. I wanted to tell you this one Tuesday but you seemed busy with Possible. You see I need some assistance with something. I know its short notice plus you have the after school soccer program, but the cheer squad has a competition in Upperton tonight and I would like you to help me chaperone with them." Barkin explained to Paul.
Paul thinks for about half a second before smiling. "I would be more than happy to help you out sir."
"Dandy! I knew I could count on you. Go to soccer practice with the young ones, get some supplies and be back here at school carpark at 1800 Hours cadet."
"Okey dokey sir." Paul said.
"Paul." Mr Barkin says whilst slightly bowing his head, similar to what a colonel would do to dismiss a solider or cadet, before walking back to his office. Leaving the teenager to speed walk out of the school towards his electric scooter and vamoose to soccer practice.
Later that same day, after finishing soccer practice, Paul went back home.
Paul had to rush home to get changed and prepare his backpack with all the required supplies, snacks and equipment for the trip, before returning back to school at 1755 Hours and boarding onto the bus. Paul sat at the front of the bus next to Barkin while the girls sat towards the end of the big vehicle.
Mr Barkin was driving and chaperoning the group. The bus ride was going great. The whole squad was singing their cheer chant for practice and having a fun time. Meanwhile up front, Paul was listening to his music in the front seat trying to drain out the girls chanting with his headphones, adjacent to Mr Barkin, who was trying his best to keep his temper under control from the girls loud singing.
Obviously he wasn't a big fan of singing.
"Let's save the singing for the competition ladies!" Mr Barkin said clearly trying to avoid becoming irate every lyric being sung out by the girls.
Paul saw this and he opened his backpack, rummaging to pull out a set of orange ear buds, offering them to his teacher.
"Here Mr Barkin, it looks like you could use these." Paul hands them to Barkin
"Thanks Paul, much appreciated." Mr Barkin said in a thankful tone as he places them into his ears "Ah. Slightly better."
PSSSHHH
PSSHHHH
PSSHHHH
PSSHHHH
"NOT SO BETTER NOW! BRACE YOURSELVES PEOPLE!" Barkin shouted as he had to regain control of the bus, to avoid it going off the road and crashing. While all the girls on the bus were screaming, holding onto their seats. Paul on the other hand was not entirely oblivious to what was happening, strangely enough he was calmly sitting in his seat on the bus, still listening to his music, mostly unaware of the events occurring to him. After what seemed like a few minutes in reality a few seconds, Mr Barkin finally was able to get control of the bus and put it to a complete stop.
That was a freighting 10 seconds.
"(Loud Sigh of relief) Is everyone alright!" Barkin yelled out. Every girl on the bus gave a response and that everyone was okay.
"Paul?" Barkin asks how he is.
"Did-Did that-Did that just happen?" Paul asked whilst looking back and forth and Barkin and the front of the road, seeming to be unfazed by this.
"Yes, it did happen." Barkin said to Paul. Both of them exited the massive vehicle to investigate the damages "Well looks like we have 4 flat tyres." Paul pointed out whilst going around the bus.
Both went back inside the bus to tell the group the bad news.
"Well ladies, looks like we won't be able to move for a while. We better call for help." Barkin addressed the group of girls.
Everyone pulled out their smartphones.
"No service?!" All the girls shouted unison.
"Huh, that's weird, my Kimmunicator isn't working either." Kim said while trying to get her device to work.
"Nothing on my phone, any luck on your end Paul?" Barkin asks the teenager.
"Nope, no service on both of my phones." Paul thought for a few seconds before an idea popped into his head "Wait. I've got a way to get in contact with someone" Paul rushes towards his backpack and pulls out a small device. Everyone watches him with confusion and curious about what he's doing. He then starts talking into his Apple Watch
"39.814546, -104,862192. These are the coordinates. Send help. Call (303) 555 - 0405 Ask for W.L. Call ASAP. TY – PK." Paul says softly into the watch
"What did you just do?" Kim asks.
"Sent a message to a close friend back at home." Paul says to her friend.
"Um, that's great and all, but how's that going to work genius? We've got no reception!" Bonnie asked with a sarcastic and agitated tone.
She obviously ignored Paul's rant. She's really that thick headed.
Will she ever be nice to people?
"Well, you see this device has a GPS which has coordinates of where we are located currently and it always runs with reception no matter what due to its network program algorithm. My friend from Melbourne has the exact same device which allows us to send messages via an app on my iPhone or Apple Watch. It takes time to get the message across depending on the reception area, but he'll able to see it and contact for help because he's in an area with great reception." Paul answers with a confident manner and without skipping a beat. He wasn't addressing just the brunette cheerleader. He was addressing the whole group.
Everyone on the bus stared at the teenager with awe for the way he was prepared for this trip, managing to send a signal for help and the way he talked about the device without any hesitation. It was like he was prepared for a scenario like this to happen. The girl's had no reception. Barkin had no reception. Paul's device had some kind of recpetion but would take some time. Best option they've got right now.
"That was actually really impressive! He's very handy with his gadgets. Just like the mission a few days ago." Kim thought before shaking her head.
"What" Paul asks a bit confused as everyone looks at him.
"Uh, the way- Never mind. So how long until your friend receives the signal?" Kim asks Paul.
"Ooo (Clicks tongue twice) you're not going to like this answer. If it was an area with clear reception probably within a few minutes, merely seconds potentially! But since there's no reception, it could take around minimum 30 minutes… to a maximum of... of 2 hours." Paul mutters the last part.
"2 Hours!" Everyone said at the same time.
Damn they heard him.
"Well, it's the best we can do under these circumstances. All our phones can't get any reception to call for help. We can keep on trying to get reception from outside, but it will either hinder our time frame or might get some call for help. Whatever the equivalent of RACV is for here. Plus, this device comes with the handy feature of being able to send SOS, Distress or Help Signals." Paul said holding up his Mini GPS.
Bonnie sighed and said, "Great, now we are going to be late for the cheer competition!"
"Bonnie, we've got more serious problems to deal with. Right now, we need to alert for help to get back on the road or see if we can find anything that can help us, as soon as possible. Besides shit happens in life. Sooooo. Deal with it." Paul says while shrugging with his arms out in front of him.
"Language." Barkin says in a stern tone.
"Sorry sir." Paul quickly adds. "Anyway, we should check out this site that we've stopped at. There's bound to be a phone or a payphone in there."
"Paul's right, we should scout the place. Let's move out." Kim announces to the group.
"Wait! Before we go outside, we should stick together or at least have partners. We shouldn't split up all at once. Better to go with a pair then not to have one at all."
"Paul's is right" Barkin agreeing. "Alright People, I'm going to divide the group into pairs" Barkin pulled a clipboard "Rockwaller your with King, Simpson and Peyton, Jordan and Delisle, Valentina and Myself. And finally, Possible and Paul." Announced to the group.
Everyone nodded knowing who their partner would be, whilst two teenagers were talking amongst each other.
"Well guess you're stuck with me as a partner again Kim?" Paul said half-joking.
"Yeah, you can't seem to get enough of me" Kim said folding her arms smiling. It took a few seconds for Kim to realise what she had said, her face dropped realising what she was saying to her crush. "I-I-I mean not like it's a bad thing. I-I mean it's great for you to be my partner and… I … I'll just be quiet." Kim says babbling, then her voice finally gives up and changes into a quiet tone towards the end.
"Kim Kim, chillax. I know you're were just joking." Paul smiles.
"Right. Joking" Kim said sheepishly.
"Great he thinks I'm weird now. I'm such a bumbling idiot when I'm around him." Kim thinks, mentally sighing in the process.
"She's so adorable when she stutters." Paul says in his mind.
Getting back to the group they all start walking up this wide pathway surround by large trees. They all begin to notice a large overhead sign above them. It read...
'Welcome to Camp Wannaweep. Toxic Free since 2014'
"Wannaweep? What kind of owner calls the camp Wannaweep?" Crystal points out.
"A sadist owner and judging by the negative name, it sounds like a horrendous camp to attend." Paul answers.
"Hold a sec... I've heard of this place!" Kim says.
"You have?" Paul responds intrigued on how on earth she's heard of this place.
"When I was younger, Ron went to a camp called 'Camp Wannaweep'. He said it was the worst summer ever. He got attacked by animals, was bullied by the kids nearly the entire time. It was also the place where he developed he's fear for monkeys, amongst other things. He even tried to leave so many times but his parents ignored his pleas to pick him up." Kim explains to the group.
"Gee. Talk about traumatic." Paul says.
'So this is the place where Ron developed he's fears. Poor guy' Paul says in his head.
"Poor Ron." Tara says in a caring and sympathetic tone.
Bonnie scoffs "Oh please Tara, get over it. That loser probably deserved it."
Kim was about to open her mouth, but a certain young teenager beat her. "Stop saying that Bonnie, I don't know what you've got against Ron!" Paul says to brunette agitated at her attitude.
"Whatever." Bonnie replies.
Paul really was getting agitated over the treatment of Ron. Despite only meeting him once, before hand in London and finding out from Wade that Kim and Ron were apparently best friends! The teen kicked himself for not realising this sooner. He has heard a lot of stick coming towards the young man there and there from Bonnie.
His close and newly good friend Kim Possible, really missed her best friend. Even though they keep in contact with each other almost every day. They've been close since they were young kids. He felt sorry for the red-haired girl. He's sort of in the same boat as her regarding friends back home. But he would return hopefully return home one day.
"Look, let's go in this camp and find the phone." Paul addresses the group to avoid anymore arguing. They begin to enter this almost dark and abandoned camp.
The sun was set and it was night time, also the camp at night looked quite spooky. Everyone stopped twice after hearing a loud blowing sound, making the group a bit more nervous and on edge. The group wandering around together until a certain boy found something that was useful to them.
"Hey look, there's the camp phone" Paul says before running towards it. Paul picks it up and starts dialling for help. He realises no noises are being made when pressing the buttons.
"It's not working, the line must be disconnected" Paul says to the group while holding the phone.
"Well, shouldn't we check inside these cabins, there's got to be a phone inside" Liz says.
"If the line isn't working here, surely it wouldn't be working inside the cabins. Plus the camp looks abandoned, highly unlikely that a phone would be inside." Paul explains before noticing something. "Besides I think someone sabotaged this phone line." Pauls points towards the live telephone wires above. Everyone stared at the wires from above. Seeing small sparks of electricity coming out of the wires.
"How do you know it's been sabotaged cadet?" Barkin asks Paul
"Because live wires that have been cut, they last for a few hours or days in most cases. If it wasn't live, then they've been cut some time ago."
"Point Taken." Barkin says.
"Besides, this is a dangerous scenario. Especially in the woods. This is a bushfire hazard with the exposed electrical wiring." Paul adds on pointing out the Health and Safety of this camp. It's a walking hazard site.
"This reminds me just like those movies. A group of innocent teens, stranded in a camp in the middle of nowhere, with no help. Then... some serial killer starts to pick them off. One… by… one." Tara says to the group in a frightful voice while Paul puts the phone back onto the holder.
"So not the drama Tara, this isn't a horror film." Kim responds to Tara's vivid imagination.
"Yeah Tara we should be fine, all we need to do is stick together. If anything happens, I will do my best to protect this group. After all It's me and Mr. Barkin's job to protect and supervise you girls. Isn't that right sir." Paul says staring at Barkin.
"Uh, that's right Paul. Spot on." Barkin said a bit unsure, even though he's a bit frighten about the current predicament they are in at the moment. But if Paul can boost his confidences, then he would be fine to help out the group.
"Besides Kim's experience on missions will help us too" Paul adds on.
Paul tried to lift the girls spirts up and make them feel more comfortable.
"Gee thanks, I feel so much safer now." Bonnie says sarcastically.
"What the fuck is here problem? She still hasn't processed anything I said?" Paul thinks as he gives a squinting face look towards the girl, really appalled by her recent behaviour. Did she even have any class, elegance or sympathy at all?
Kim glared at the other girl. "Paul's trying his best to make everyone calm and defuse the current sitch we are in."
"Thanks Kim" Paul says to Kim, as she smiles at him. "She's right everyone. Right now, we should be getting back onto the bus to keep ourselves safe and warm. It will probably be an hour or so until help is on the way."
The group followed Paul back to the bus, Paul tried to open the bus door, but wasn't budging. "It's not opening. Let me check the back door." Paul walks to the bus rear door and had trouble opening it as well. "Not opening as well" Paul then looks closer and sees something that surprises him.
He walks back to the bus entrance door and he again notices the same thing on both doors. Paul begins to get into squatting position and proceeds to take off his glasses and rubs his chin. He knows something is very off about this place. Something that no one knows besides himself... They weren't the only ones here.
He knew that.
"What is it Paul?" Tara asks now worried.
Paul continuing to rub his chin and looks back to everyone, still in a squatting position. "Guys... I don't wanna alarm anyone. But, someone has welded the doors shut on both ends."
Everyone gasped.
"We're not alone!" Liz says in a terrified tone
"Oh my glob! Someone is after us!" Jessica says in a similar frighten tone as Liz.
"What did I tell you Kim. Fiction is slowly becoming into reality!" Tara says as she becomes more nervous as the night slowly becomes like one of those horror films she mentioned earlier.
"Okay, someone is totally messing with us right now. If you don't show yourself creep, you're in for a world of pain!" Bonnie says in a threatening tone yelling towards the large area of trees in the distance.
"Bonnie, yelling out into the woods isn't going to help us find who's been sabotaging us." Kim says.
"What do you know Kim, all we know, this might be one of your enemies that you've gained over the years of fighting trying to get back at you." Bonnie retorts back at Kim.
"Oh please, I can fend off this creep from all of us." Kim says back to Bonnie.
"Oh. Like you have done for the past few months? Face it Kim, you're nothing without Ron." Bonnie says insulting Kim's ability to take down main villains.
Whilst everyone is either arguing about something or nervous that someone is out to kidnap them, Paul was still in his squatted position thinking about the scenario at the moment.
"Flat tyres. Someone laid out spikes. No reception. Someone jammed the network area and our devices. Camp Telephone. Someone cut off the line. School bus doors welded. Someone welded them shut." Paul thinks "Could it be an enemy of Kim's looking for revenge? Someone's planned this and done their homework. Someone's out for blood. Or revenge?"
Paul snaps back to reality and sees everyone in their own little world. Yelling or sucking their thumb like a baby... Or rolling over the floor.
Paul puts his glasses back on and gets up into normal standing position.
"Hey" Paul says to the group.
No response
"Hey!" Paul repeats again a bit louder.
No response again.
Paul sighs to himself and yells out..."HEEEEEEEYYY!"
Everyone looks at the brown-haired teen all of them startled from his outburst, but now all of them stopped talking and the spotlight was on Paul.
"What are you guys doing. We can't be fighting with each other. Some motherfucker out there is playing us all like suckers at this moment. Trying to scare us and get under our skins and you guys are fighting!" Paul says.
"Language!" Barkin says in an even sterner tone.
"Oh come on sir, we're not even near school grounds anymore, we're currently in survival mode. Can't you let this slide just one time please?" Paul asks nicely.
Mr Barkin thought about this for a few seconds "Denied."
Paul sighs "Look... We have to be brave, we're a team. We can't collapse now or whoever or whatever is out their will make us look like fools! We've got to stay strong until that GPS signal reaches out for help" Paul says.
Everyone knew Paul was right. They were surprised he had such great leadership and morality booster. If he wasn't with them tonight, they would be a disaster waiting to happen. He has defused the situation quite well.
"Paul's right. We have to stay and work as a team. We should find a camp fire area and start a fire so we can stay warm. It could be a frosty few hours until help can come and find us. At least we won't get hypothermia in tonight's weather." Kim adds on as the group all agrees to this. Her experience is greatly impacted to, as they are still being cautious for the saboteur. Everyone walks back into the camp, as Kim is about to follow the group, until certain teen calls out behind her.
"Hey Kim" Kim looks back.
"Thanks for that back there, the others we're just about to boil over." Paul says
Kim sheepishly smiles "You're welcome Paul, by the way. Great leadership skills back there, things were about to go overboard between the group."
"I know they were. The group needs to have a cool head and you really think so?"
Kim nods.
"Thanks. We need this group to stay on top of things. You know Kim, we make a great team you and me."
"Yeah, I know" Kim says.
Kim then starts to reconsider about whether Paul should help her alongside her future missions. Despite going out once and for the first time, he handled the situation quite well. Getting a hold of Drakken, his henchman, retrieving the disc and breaking Shego's ankle, causing her to be injured. Much to Kim's amusement. She won't be troubling her for a few months.
They retrieved the disc filled with FBI information on it, which has all future projects, security defences and other plans on it. If that information went to the wrong hands. It would be worth billions of dollars and cause lots of peoples lives to be endangered.
Overall. He did a great job for a newbie. Plus, she felt extremely bad for yelling at him on his second week at school. She was glad Paul didn't hold a grudge against her. She regrets that day a lot, but allowing Paul to join the team full time would be a good way to make up for it.
"Maybe I was wrong. I think he would be a great inclusion for Team Possible. Heck, we might even be an unstoppable duo." Kim thinks while sighing dreamily, thinking about Paul.
"Wow, great work on the fire Paul." Kim says to her friend Paul.
"All thanks to Wade and his mini-blowtorch gadget. He deserves the credit." Shows another handy gadget. "But my uncles taught me how to keep fire going. Find wood that's been dried up and dead, if you find wood that's live and not dried up, it has water inside as the trees roots are connected to underground water and it wont burn for a while. Sticks or branches that are dead burn quickly."
"So, you must be an expert with the outdoors?" Crystal asked.
"Surprisingly. No. But a few of my relatives have been on camping trips and when they were all younger, they weren't afraid to get their hands dirty. Myself, I'm the total opposite, I'd like to have my hands. But this is a different circumstance in regards to our survival mode, you've got to get your hands dirty." Paul explains to the group whilst taking a seat on top of the logs.
"Well, it sounds like you know what you're doing." Tara says.
"Not really, I'm just using my common sense, usually in the spur of the moment people make either bad or good decisions. That's why its best to have a cool head and be calm. Right now its my duty alongside with Mr. Barkin to protect this group no matter what. We're both held responsible. That's why he brought me alongside this trip to take care of you guys during this trip."
Once again, the group smiled at this and was quite impressed that this teenager that they've barley known for the last 2 months is putting others first, rather than himself and being unselfish.
Who was this exceptionally young man?
Every time Paul spoke or said something, Kim's love for this boy grew larger and become fonder of him. Today or in this case this evening, she's been impressed with his attitude and the way he leads a group.
She wondered what it would be like to be partners with him full time?
"Paul, you're probably the best choice I decided to bring along this trip. I wish there were more students like you at school. Seriously, the grades of the current senior group are an all time low" Barkin says in a sincere tone, before pointing to a chart going down, with a minor spike at the end. "That spike is you. Somehow you managed to get it up all by yourself."
Was he carrying that chart with him the whole time!
"Well, that's really considerate of you sir. Thanks. As for that, I just do my school work and test to the best of my abilities. Surely I'm not the only person to bring up the school's grade average up." Paul said while smiling.
"How's that signal coming along by the way?" Tara asks curiously.
"It's just a matter of time now before that signal gets to the receiver." Paul addresses the group.
"I hope Manny gets my message." Paul thinks to himself.
37 Minutes after the sent GPS Signal
Somewhere in Melbourne
Manny just entered in his bedroom while on his phone. He puts his phone down onto his desk and goes on his PC. He receives a message on his phone from Lucas saying…
"Fortnite?" – Lucas
Manny smiles at this and begins typing.
"Heck yeah Boi!" – Manny
Manny excitingly puts on his headset, opens the game and joins the party. "Where we dropping boys!"
While this is happening, Manny narrowly misses a notification on his phone, what is quite an important message from his phone via an app called 'Garmin' with the ID Under 'Paul'. With the screen being face down on the table.
The group was sitting around the campfire talking amongst each other and trying to stay warm.
Paul was staring at the fire thinking about his thoughts, he was interrupted by a certain blonde haired cheerleader.
"So Paul. Tell us, what life was like in Australia." Tara asked while some members of the cheer squad nodded in agreement, eager to hear about his story.
They've recently heard he was a Foreign Exchange Student.
"Well Tara, the seasons are different during the year. Like we have summertime instead of winter, vice versa for the other 3 seasons. I live particular close to the city but as in areas with built up traffic, which makes it around half an hour to travel to. I used to wear uniforms at my old school. In the sum-"
"Woah woah woah woah, wait a sec. You used to wear uniforms at your school?" Bonnie says.
"Yeah, I went to a private school, this is the very first time I've attended public school." Paul answers. Bonnie used a better tone compared to other times, so he answered back nicely.
"Big change from private to public school" Marcella said.
"Yeah, it is. Anyway, it's quite hot in Australia, the sun burns compared to Middleton." Paul adds.
"What about your family and friends? How did they handle the news about you leaving?" Tara asks Paul.
Paul stiffens a bit thinking about his family and friends. He truly misses his friends, especially his family. All the sacrifices he has made to move to America. Although he didn't mind it, he hoped that his newly made friends in Middleton would help him cope the pain of being away from home. Thinking about it is hard. But he's use to talking about it in recent times.
"It was hard. The day I found out I was leaving for this program truly stung me, it was like my soul was sucked out of me. The day I left Melbourne felt like a wall closed onto me and I couldn't see my family. Not many people in life, especially my age would ever think or dream of a situation I'm in. Not to see your mum, dad or sisters for two years." Paul said emotionally, avoiding tearing up about his family. He sniffles. "I mean I'm strong enough to handle this, but being far from home is so hard."
Everyone was quiet after Paul finished explaining about missing his loved ones back at home. Kim who was sitting next to Paul, placed her soft hand of the point of his shoulder before slightly rubbing his back and giving a small smile ensuring everything will be okay.
"Oh boo hoo. You miss your family. Big deal. Deal with it. They're probably better off without you." Bonnie said in the most sour tone. Paul slightly heard this, but was occupied still thinking about his family. If she was a guy, Paul would... We've all seen him in action before.
Every girl glared at Bonnie after that.
"Gee Bonnie, that's low. Even for you!" Jessica says.
"Yeah" Most of the other girls say agreeing with Jessica.
"Please, like this nerd has feelings" Bonnie says.
"They're only words Paul. Don't get angry." Paul thinks to himself.
"Watch it Rockwaller! You're treading on thin ice." Barkin warned the brunette cheerleader severely.
"Bonnie have you got any remorse at all?" Kim says with her arms crossed.
"Oh please, you cried yourself to sleep every night when Ron left her. She can't even take down villains without her loser of a friend, he jumped off a sinking ship. It was probably for the best." Bonnie continues to diss.
"OKAY! THAT'S IT BONNIE! YOU'VE TAKEN IT TOO FAR WITH RON! He's been my best friend since I was 5 years old and all of a sudden, his out of my life and moved to London. I spent weeks trying to get over him leaving and you have the audacity to talk about him deserving not to have friends in his life! That's so low Bonnie. Paul who has somehow met Ron only once, backs him up whenever he gets put down for calling him a loser behind his back!" Kim says reaching her breaking point with Bonnie.
"(Scoffs) That loser doesn't deserves to have friends at all." Bonnie says in a flippant tone.
Okay it was officially breaking point for Paul in regards to Ron. He heard enough about Ron being made fun of from Bonnie for one day. In fact, he has heard enough about Ron for the last few weeks. It was time for Paul to put his foot down and back up his friend. His fists clinch hard.
"What's your deal with Ron?" Paul asks Bonnie as he stands up abruptly.
"What-" Bonnie was saying glaring at the teen, before being interrupted.
"Like, what did he even do to you or what did he deserve to be called that? Like seriously what's your freaking problem Bonnie?" Paul says as his tone slowly turns into an angry one.
"My problem? MY PROBLEM! Is that los-" Bonnie says once again being interrupted.
"DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT WORD BONNIE!" Paul says to Bonnie as he snaps.
"Why don't you go f-" Bonnie says yelling back.
"Did anything I said get through that fucking thick skull of yours!" Paul says interrupting for the third time.
Bonnie gets frightened with her eyes wide open and taken a bit back, she had fear within her facial expression. She has had this coming for a while now. "I-"
"NO! It's my turn to fucking talk!" Paul says now in a really angry tone.
"LANG-" Barkin says before being interrupted.
"NO! She needs to hear this for her own good! Again apparently" Paul says to Mr Barkin, before becoming startled, which is quite rare for him. Being a strict guy and all.
Kim was confused at this "What did he mean by again?"
"What I said to you didn't go through that big head of yours? If you continue to act like a bitch, what friends will have your back when you act like this, huh?" Paul says to Bonnie who looks so embarrassed at this moment in time.
"I saw your whole cheerleading squad glare at you. That's the first sign of losing respect of your peers."
...
..
.
"ANSWER THE QUESTION!" Paul shouts startling Bonnie even further.
Paul pauses to catch his breath before continuing. "I left my country which is tens and thousands of miles away, my family, my friends, my school. The game that I loved back home, footy. I gave up all of that to come here for this program. The chance was 1 in 22 trillion to be chosen for this program. I've done the match! In this exact country, in this exact state and at this exact high school." Paul says as he pauses for 2 seconds.
"Most people would have given up and find the easy way out of this, but I stuck to this because I had no other choice. I met some great people and friends in this town. But ever since I've came to this school and heard about you... All of heard from you is bullying, teasing and food chains? What is this? What kind of mockery is this to the education system? Back at home, we didn't have this, bullying was a thing, but I put it to an end when I had the chance, because I always spoke up for what's right and made people believe that they wouldn't be harmed by others. He was on my case every time I spoke up and did something" Paul points to Barkin. "Giving detention. I'd rather get that then see a kid in school get bullied. As for your boyfriend, I warned him and his pals. Not. To. Fight me! Now as for Ron. All I've heard from you is; He's a loser, a lap dog, a follower and a sucker upper. Enough is enough! I've had it! I've meet him once and I feel like his a close friend to me already! Heck just maybe we can become best friends."
Paul pauses for a few seconds before continuing with everyone around still quiet, looking pretty guilty, ashamed or shocked at this. "And you Bonnie, what I said to you last month, if you keep this up, you're going to lose everyone that cares about you. People don't act like this, there's probably a reason why you are doing this to begin with. What is it Bonnie? Is something bothering you? Friends? Is it your family?" Paul pauses. "Did you have a rough childhood?"
Bonnie went a bit pale at those questions, but was silent as a mouse. She was also feeling a shade of guilt and that same feeling in her stomach she felt when Paul told her a similar rant a week ago. She especially went quite at the last two questions. Was there really trouble in paradise for the tanned brunette? Was everything at home hunky-dory?
"Obviously you're not going to tell me jack... But I'll found out... I'll found out one way or another. People don't behave like this when they're born. Something triggers it inside of them. We're born pure, not rotten." Paul says as he regains his breath.
Some others including Mr Barkin, feel bad as well, especially how he doesn't act on bullying at school. Paul stares at Bonnie then sighs, before the group stayed silent for a few minutes. Paul didn't show any remorse towards Bonnie what so ever, he knew it was time for a reality check for the young brunette. Especially how the way he treats him, talks about Ron and putting others down at school. This kid knocked down her own boyfriend easily. How strong was this young teen anyway? No one knew but himself.
But he knew that somewhere in Bonnie's heart, she was a good person, something or someone is making her be like this. And before he leaves the country, he'll find out one way or another. It's just a matter of what brings her down the most.
To brighten the mood, Paul takes out a few plastic bags of snacks, like fruit, marshmallows and skittles, offering them to group.
They're probably hungry as all there bags are stuck inside of the bus.
"Anyone want food?" Paul says extending his arm with plastic bags in his hand.

Manny was still playing Fortnite
Hey boys, is Paul online? – Manny
Nah, I messaged him before but no answer. He is probably doing something. Besides, he doesn't play Fortnite. - Lucas
Is he sleeping? – Manny
I think it's around 8pm there at the moment – Jason
Aight. I'll take the left flank boys. – Manny
The boys kept on playing the round, until they were eliminated. After getting killed in game, Manny sighs and takes off his headset, slightly frustrated that his team didn't last longer in the game. He then notices his phone vibrating. Someone was calling him; It was his brother. He picks up the phone call.
"Hello" Manny says.
"Hey Manny, you want any pizza bro?" Says the person on the other line, which sounded like the voice of an older teenager.
"Sure Nick, Can I get a large pepperoni pizza please."
"Is that all?"
"Yes. Thanks." Manny simply replies.
"Alright I'm 5 minutes away from the pizza place. I'll be home in about 20. See ya." His brother said before hanging up.
"Pizza for lunch. Nice" Manny says to himself, before continuing to play Fortnite with his pals. Still unaware Paul's message showing on his home screen.
The group was eating some of Paul's snacks, the entire group murmured a small thank you to Paul for offering. Paul didn't except anyone to thank him, after he gave a certain girl a loud awakening reality check just before. They all were eating quietly and no one spoke for some time now. Only a few whispers amongst some of the girls to each other. It can barley be heard from a close distance. A certain red-head spoke up.
"I think I should go have a look around and bring some more wood." Kim told everyone. Noticing the fire is weakening.
"Then you're going to need this" Paul hands a black flashlight to Kim.
Kim took the flashlight from Paul. "Thanks" She said.
"I'll join you Possible, it's best not to go alone." Barkin said as he got up and walked over to her, "Paul, take care of the group while I'm gone."
"Alright." Paul simply said while popping a marshmallow into his mouth. While walking in the forest Barkin brought up what was on his mind for the last 10 minutes. "You know Possible, I didn't know Paul can be so angry at times. I mean he did tell her off one time in the cafeteria, but it was because some of the older students were harassing the younger students and himself."
"So, this isn't the first time Paul has snapped at Bonnie?" Kim asks Barkin, as she picks up few twigs from the ground.
"Snapped is an understatement, more like he said it to her straight and after that I was going to suspend him after he attacked some of the football squad. But he said, he didn't care as long as no one would be harmed. Since that day, we both had a nice long chat we become good pa-... I-I mean, everything was alright between the two of us . I understood his predicament when he backed up those students and your friend Ron that I've heard much about. From now on, the teachers and I will keep our eyes peeled in regards to bullying within school campus." Mr Barkin explains to Kim, leaving out a few minor details.
"How come I'm learning about this now?" Kim asks in a bit disheartened that no one told her about this, especially her friend Paul, which he is fully aware of Bonnie and Kim's past history.
"Hmm... I don't know. You have to ask him" Barkin says.
"But why hasn't he told me yet? I'm his friend. We talk to each other every day, why wouldn't he tell me that he told off Bonnie?" Kim asks.
"I'm not sure Possible, but I can tell you when the time is right, I think Paul will tell you everything about what happened that day." Barkin says, while picking up a few more sticks.
"You think so sir?" Kim says in a hopeful tone.
"Possible, I know we've only known each other for a few months, same goes for Paul. But all I know is that I've had enough time to judge Paul. And what I can understand, he is always putting others first, before himself. And the day he tells you what happened, you'll completely understand why he didn't tell you and why he did it. Trust me and trust him. But he can be angry at times. But for good causes."
Kim smiles at Barkin, she really wanted to ask him everything that happened that day with Bonnie. But that wasn't the whole picture.
She suddenly a snap echoed and caused Kim to slightly jump, "What was that?"
"Calm down Possible, you're probably hearing thi-"
"NNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS!"
Barkin's voice was cut off as he fell to the ground, before being dragged into a group of trees by a rope tied to his ankle, screaming with fear in the process. Kim gasps, as she runs into the direction to find him, a couple balls of sludge are shot at her. She dodges them and then notices a large webbed foot print on the ground. She looks in horror at the size of the foot print, she then starts running back toward the fire print.
"PAUL!" she yells. Back with the group, they look back to see Kim running towards them, "Paul! It got Mr. Barkin!" Kim panted, "W-we're talking and I heard some noise, then something dragged him away using a rope around his ankle into the woods. I-I tried to chase him, before some sort of goo was shot at me. And I saw a huge footprint! Kind of like bigfoot!" Kim says in a slightly panicky tone, still trying to compose herself after what she had saw.
Paul stood up from the log "Kim calm down, it's okay. We'll find him. Right now, its too dangerous to stay outside. Everybody, grab the snacks or anything you have and follow me."
As the group follows Paul, a mysterious glowing figure was in the lake seeing the group of teens from a fair distance away, before disappearing into the water.

Somewhere in Melbourne
Manny was about to get into another round of Fortnite, but was having second thoughts on the pizza he organised a few minutes ago.
"Damn! I knew I should have gone for half pepperoni and hawaiian." Manny thinks to himself.
Not wasting anytime, he picks up his phone, whilst failing to notice a certain notification on his phone. He texts his brother to change his order.
"Hey bro, can you make it half pepperoni and hawaiian instead?" – Manny
Manny patiently waits for the response, and gets it within half a minute.
"Okay. You're lucky that I haven't gone inside yet." – Nick
Manny smiles at his response
"Sweet as. Thanks bro" – Manny
Manny was about to switch off his phone, but he finally notices a notification on his phone. From his Garmin app. He thought what it could be. Curious he opens up the app and he noticed a name pop up with a message.
"Oh shit! It's from Paul." Manny said to himself with a smile on his face, completely unaware of the current situation he is in at this moment in time.
Manny opened up the message and he was reading it.
After less than 20 seconds, Manny realised it was a SOS call. His face went from a smile to surprised look. Now it was serious mode time for Manny.
Manny had a set of coordinates and a phone number to ring. Looks like it's an oversea number by the looks of it.
"Who's W.L?" Manny thought confused.
"Manny?" – Lucas
"Manny?" – Jason
"Where the fuck are you mate?" – Lucas
Manny picks up his headset.
"Boys I've got something important to do. It's from Paul" – Manny
"Paul? what's happened?"' – Lucas
"Is he alright?" – Jason
Looks like he's in trouble. I'll be back in 5 minutes – Manny
With that Manny threw off his headset and went to find his Garmin GPS Device. Once he connected it to his PC, he saw the location. He was outside of a place called Camp Wannaweep.
"Camp Wannaweep? What kind of sick fucking person names a camp that?" Manny says to himself.
Without wasting any time, he dials the number into his phone's keypad.
(303) 555 – 0405
He hesitated for a second because he thought it was a prank, seeing the number 555 at the beginning of a phone number, was something you'd see in a film or a tv show. It was a major red flag.
But realised Paul wouldn't be joking if he was using his Garmin App.
The phone was ringing. It would take half a minute to a minute to process this long distance phone call.
"This better be worth the 30 Minutes of International phone calls I have on my plan." Manny thinks to himself waiting for a connection on the other line.
"Hello?" The voice came from the other end of the line. It was quite high. Almost like he was speaking to a small child or a kid who hasn't reached puberty yet.
This confused Manny even more. What contact details that Paul has provided him with?
"Uh... Hello, is this W.L?"
There was a pause "Who's asking." The kid asked suspiciously.
Manny had the urge to say something funny, like your mum joke, but stuck to his guns and had to be serious. The kid on the other line continued to speak.
"Why are you calling from an oversees number? If you wanted to get a hold of Kim Possible, just use her website, email her and I'll ask her the details of your enquiry. That's if she wants to accept your request." The kid explains.
'Kim Possible? Who's that?' Manny thinks to himself yet again.
Manny shakes these thoughts and realised he wasn't getting anywhere.
"Look look look Listen. My name is Manny. I'm one of Paul's mates from back home. He sent me a GPS signal, with coordinates and a message to send help."
"Look I might be a kid, but I'm not gullible, I-. What. Did you say Paul?" the kid asks.
"Yes" Manny slightly becoming agitated.
"Okay, if you are really his friend and you know him, then answer this. What PC does he own?"
"None, he's not a PC fan, he prefers thin gaming laptops. Specifically Razer. He loves his Frames Per Second games really high." Manny replies quick and instantly.
"(Loud and hardy laughing) that's him alright... I guess you're his friend. Wait... Oh my gosh. I'm sorry. I should've believed you! Are they okay? What's happened?" The kid said with a new worried tone.
"I don't know man. He sent me coordinates. He must be in an area with no reception and our GPS devices have a network that can connect to us no matter what. It takes time though to get the signal out."
"Ah Yes. The Garmin app. I've heard a lot about that. Was planning to buy one when I get an increase in my allowance. That's advance technology."
"That's right dude. Can you help him out please?" Manny said, waiting for the kid's response anxiously.
"Yeah, sure thing man. I'll call for some help and 911 to check on them." The kid says, as Manny can hear a few keyboard buttons being pressed.
"Alright cool. I'll give you the cords" Manny says
"No need, already got them." The kid said still typing on his keyboard
"Uhhh, my man, how the hell did- youuu." Manny says but pauses in between his sentence.
"Oh, umm.. you see, I'm a very talented hacker, or I should say, very talented in computing." The kid explains, feeling a bit embarrassed for going through someone else's privacy.
"But, no offense man, but... You sound so young!"
"Oh I am and I get that quite a lot. By the way, the name's Wade Load, 9-year-old genius. Any friend of Paul, is a friend of mine." Wade said confidently.
"Ahhhhhh W.L stands for Wade Load. Wait a minute, another pun on words. Wait a minute! I hope he didn't go through my meme collection. WAIT A MINUTE! When the heck is my pizza going to come. WOAH WOAH WOAH. WAIT A MINUTE! What the fuck has my pal been up to in America. Well, this has been totally worth the international call minutes! Paul has some explaining to do." Manny thinks.
"Okay. That's cool. But I've got to ask. How did end up meeting with Paul? I hope you're taking care of my boy." Manny asks the kid curiously, leaning back on his chair.
He chuckles before answering "Well... It's quite a long story, you see I went to buy a cable from an electronics store one day..."

- This episode is similar to 'Sink or Swim'. Obviously Ron is absent, so the plot changes and it occurs one year earlier, compared to the real life episode. As I mentioned. Some episodes from the original series will appear in this series.
- RACV is Royal Automobile Club of Victoira. It's like a roadside assistance and car insurances for Victoria, Australia. The American versions are Road America, AAA, Geico and Progressive.
Second part of the chapter will be out in 10 days time! Until then, see ya!
