Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Monster High. I do not own the original story this is based on.
Spectra watched as a goth girl dragged Danny away as another boy followed. She recalled the ghost boy's friend's names and realized the two to be Sam and Tucker. However, even knowing that didn't stop the pout she was giving—particularly seeing the look on the goth's face as she dragged the boy away.
Spectra wondered about the girl's intentions as she Silently and invisibly followed the group.
Meanwhile, Sam was happy to be back, evident with her dragging of Danny and Tucker everywhere.
The goth girl was excited to catch up and hopefully more, but she had that planned for much later.
"Sam," Danny began.
"Come on! I want to see what I've missed!" Sam said gleefully.
"What you've missed?" Danny said. He glanced at Tucker, who nodded back. "Who, you really are happy to see us."
"After Europe, definitely," Sam said before shaking her head. "Anyway, I don't wanna talk about that snob fest, so what did you guys do over the summer?"
Danny smiled before he answered.
"Oh, you know, same old stuff," He began.
As he talked, Tucker noticed his friend had left everything about the dating service out. And while he was grateful, considering he would have to face repercussions, the boy couldn't help wonder why.
I wonder why he hasn't said anything about the dating service. I mean...he's clueless enough to mention it without noticing Sam's feelings. Her real ones. Tucker thought as Danny continued talking to their goth friend.
Unknown to him, Spectra also wondered why and continued to follow the trio. She couldn't help feeling sad since Danny barely talked about her. For a moment, it seemed he was embarrassed to date her.
Am I not important enough to him? She thought to herself. The girl snapped out of her thoughts, wanting to investigate before jumping to conclusions.
The group entered the nasty burger wanting to grab something to eat before anything. The ghost boy had left the maul so fast he forgot about his stomach, not that he was comfortable with monster food completely.
"Can I have the mega-mighty meaty meal?" Danny said as he got his usual order.
"And don't forget my ultimeaty meal," Tucker added.
"Oh, yeah. That too."
Sam went to order, desperately hungry for something not super fancy. However, she'd comment saying how the food was definitely better in Europe.
Hmmm...nice place. I kinda like the name. Spectra thought as she studied the surrounding. Maybe one day, she'd review the place. A ghoul like her wouldn't normally be found here unless it was to haunt something. Part of her wished she could join the ghost boy, but his secret identity came first. After all, no human knew besides only a select few knew of his dual identity. The ghost girl could picture it now with her and Danny alone eating together as people were happy for them. Such sweet sorrows.
Spectra was so preoccupied with her thoughts that the ghoul didn't notice she had knocked down some receipts in front of some orders.
"Oops," she said, alerting a certain employee.
With a stern look, the disgruntled girl placed the receipts back on. She left grumbling about how ghosts do what they please in this town, making Spectra wanting to apologize later. Right now, the ghost girl was "investigating" Danny and his friends.
Not noticing her consequences.
"Hey, excuse me," Sam snarked. "I order a mighty meaty-less meal. You gave me something with a face on it."
"So want that with the meal we'll replace it with?" The cashier snarked.
Sam looked mad before she demanded an ultra-recyclo vegetarian meal, stressing her life choice on what she eats. Tucker and Danny saw this and sighed.
"I see somethings will never change," Danny said.
Tucker nodded.
Soon Sam rejoined them, this time with a meatless meal.
"So, that happened," Sam said.
"Did they still give you that other salad?" Tucker asked.
"Why would I take a mighty meaty melty manwich?" Sam deadpanned.
"So you can give it to me."
Danny chuckled at the exchange as the goth lectured about the geek's constant meat intake and environmental impact. While some things changed, not everything did, but that was par6t of the problem. He knew what he had to say. And he also knew the perfect place to do it.
"Hey, Sam? Mind if we head to my place?" he asked. It was better to rip the bandage off now than have her finds out later.
Sure, but why?" Sam asked.
To her surprise, Danny suddenly looked distant but kept staring at her like he was preparing for a test. A part of her enjoyed the feeling.
"I...got something to tell you."
Tucker and the invisible Spectra heard this and were shocked. It almost seemed like the worst was to come. The invisible ghoul didn't know if she wanted to see this, but she came all this way and wasn't going to stop for anything.
The walk towards Fenton Works was silent except in the teens' minds. It was anyone's guess what the boy wanted to tell his goth friend.
Tucker and Spectra had a sure-shot idea of what the boy wanted to say. The same couldn't be said for Sam, still in the dark.
Walking through the front door and up the stairs without a word, it was then Mr. and Mrs. Fenton noticed Danny and his friends, particularly Sam. They glanced upstairs then to each other, neither one wanting anything to do with the goth girl's discovery of Danny's girlfriend. Whoever she was.
"You think we'll get a chance to meet her this summer?" Jack asked, tightening a bolt.
Maddie just shrugged, unsure herself.
"Well, I'd at least like a name," Maddie said, still wondering when they'd get to meet the girl. Whoever she is.
Team Phantom was now in Danny's room, alone. Tucker watched from the edge as Danny went to the windows.
"I can't believe I got back so early. I mean, sure, Europe is nice, though we didn't get to see the most gothic city in the world. But being away from it all really makes you think," Sam said as she crashed on the bed. She turned and gazed at Danny. "Right, Danny?"
To her dismay, he wasn't listening to her. He looked like he was deep in thought.
"Danny!" Sam yelled, snapping him out of it.
"What?" Danny said.
The goth looked annoyed.
"What is it you wanted to say to me?" Sam asked.
To her surprise, Danny blushed with a smile on his face. He seemed almost love-struck, and that got the girl's heart racing.
"It's just that, I met someone...well, not just someone...and well, you see," Danny stuttered with a blush. He pulled at his collar as if to let off steam, leaving Sam to stare blankly, confused.
But Spectra realized what he was trying to say. Her heart fluttered as she decided to make herself known.
"Danny!" The ghostly girl said in excitement.
Sam and Tucker looked surprised by the sight of the ghoul. Things even take a more surprising turn when the ghost girl squeezed Danny. That got Sam triggered.
"Spectra," Danny said, only to notice his friends, particularly Sam.
The goth brought out the Fenton wrist ray she kept on hand and aimed at the ghost girl. Sam narrowed her with intent to fire, but Danny flew in front and shielded the girl.
"No! Wait! stop!" Danny shouted, much to Sam's sour surprise.
"What!?" Sam shouted. "why?"
Danny sighed before he decided to tell her since everything was out in the open.
"Guys, this is Spectra Vondergeist, who I met over the summer," Danny introduced.
Spectra stared at the boy, wondering why he wasn't introducing her as more.
"Wait, over the summer? as in..." Tucker said. He pointed to Spectra, and Danny nodded in response. "Huh, so this is her."
The ghost girl smiled as she floated over to greet the two. While still somewhat confused, she was happy to have made a good first impression, if only it were completely true.
"Danny, please explain who this ghost is," Sam politely commanded.
"Guys, this is kind of a long story, but-" Danny tried but was cut off when Spectra noticed the mortals.
"So...these are the other normies you hang out with,"
Before Danny could reply, Sam looked insulted now.
"What did you call me?" Sam growled.
Danny and Tucker gulped loudly as the former went to mediate.
"Did you call me a normal girl!?"
Danny and Tucker back away slowly as to avoid the confrontation. They had taken a step out the door the corner could see Danny's folks. Wordlessly, the ghost boy told them to stay away as well. However, it didn't stop Jack from placing a Fenton ghost blaster by the boy, only for Maddie to take it away.
Back inside, Sam was livid.
"Did. You. Call. Me. Normal!?" the goth girl seethed.
Her dagger-like glare did nothing to startle or intimidate the ghost girl. If anything, the girl glared back.
"It's just what we monsters call you humans, normally," Spectra said cooly.
"And you think you can lump in like that!?" Sam yelled at her.
Spectra did not look intimidated and just examined her.
So, you're not a normal normy?" Spectra asked.
"Look at me! Do I look like one!" Sam yelled at her.
The ghost studies the goth girl before asking,
"Are you half ghost like Danny?" She asked. "Or half monster? Perhaps even you're a mutant?"
"No! I'm a strong, independent, ultra-recyclo vegetarian woman who protests for the rights of others in individuality and intelligence. I have changed the school menu and showed how stupid beauty pageants are." Sam answered.
Spectra's expression remained unchanged.
"In other words, a normy."
The goth girl growled in anger and would have raised her weapon again had Danny not held her back. And it was taking a lot for him to hold her down. The girl's pride could at times fuel her strength greatly.
"Sam, calm down. It's just a-" Danny said.
"Danny! Who is she?" Sam asked venomously.
Danny glanced at Tucker. The techno-geek goaded the boy forward, making it clear he didn't want anything to do with it. The boy sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. This was probably going to be the most difficult thing he'd have to deal with all summer.
"This...is Spectra Vondergeist," Danny gestured. "And she is my girlfriend."
A choking sound drew everyone's attention to Sam. The girl had all she could take and couldn't take anymore. Her eyes went blank as she collapsed.
"Sam!" Danny shouted as he ran to her.
"I knew something would happen, just not this!" Tucker said, worried.
Spectra blinked in confusion.
"What did I do?" She asked out loud.
The goth girl quickly regained consciousness once she hit the floor. She wanted the pest events to be a dream, but Sporectra's presence erased any hope she had.
"Girlfriend," she said softly before shouting. "Girlfriend!"
"Well, I mean, we just started going steady after the dating service," Danny explained.
I was got for a whole month and signed up for a ghostly dating service?" Sam asked with a low, seething voice.
"No, it was a human dating service."
"Oh please, like a ghost would sign up for that," Sam snarked.
"Actually, there were flyers in the maul about the service. Though no stand, so I signed up online with help from Ghoulia," Spectra interjected.
Sam refused to believe the ghost girl. Upon hearing that statement, she pinned the girl as someone who came up to the human world and messed around, joining the service for kicks. That angered Spectra, who used the word "normie" again, angering Sam further.
The goth girl and ghost girl were locked in a glaring contest as neither wanted to let the other win.
Danny cringed watching this. He figured Sam would have a problem with the ghost girl, given their usual experience with ghosts, among other things, but he didn't think things could get this heated. And they just met.
"Sam," Danny said softly, but the goth bolted out the door and down the stairs. The ghost boy followed to see if she was alright or if his folks heard anything. All he saw was Jazz reading a book in the living room, humming a merry tune with earphones on and the door open.
After closing the entrance, the ghost boy walked up to his sister to see where their parents were. After a few attempts at talking to her, Danny lifted the device off Jazz's head.
"Hey! What gives!" Jazz cried out.
"Jazz, have you seen mom or dad?" Danny asked as his sister swiped the headphones back.
"They left a few minutes, and they looked scared. Do you have any idea what happened?"
"You mean you didn't see Sam storming out the house?"
Jazz shook her head.
"No. What happened?" She asked.
The ghost boy explained everything from Sam's appearance to his ghostly girlfriend showing up. He would have followed, but he needed to make sure nothing in the house would hunt Spectra. A detail Jazz took notice of when she asked about the house defenses, right after taking the time to process the fact her little brother was dating a ghost.
Rushing downstairs into the lab basement, the boy found a large machine partially dismantled.
"What is this thing?" He thought out loud.
"It's the Fenton Generator! We took it apart for some hardware upgrades," Jack Fenton said proudly, walking down the stairs. "Sorry we left, but we didn't anything to do with Sam's rage. We can probably understand why she was angry, but well..."
"We had to leave the house to be sure," Maddie added as she followed her husband.
"So, you two barely heard a word?" Danny asked hopefully.
"Well, your friend was loud enough to get through the Fenton Anti-Sound Walls," Jack thought out loud before adding. "I wonder how the neighbors took everything."
Danny groaned upon hearing that.
"This is gonna be tough," He muttered.
He'd have to talk to Sam after she cooled down, but that wasn't his only problem. Outside the building, a couple of ghosts were spying from afar, having seen or noticed everything.
"See? I told I wasn't seeing things at the mall," one of them said.
"Looks like a tasty meal, ripe for the plucking with a side of revenge," the other said as she glared with glee. "Now we just have to season things."
And the traditional Sam meeting has begun once more. I wonder how things will turn out here.
It won't be with me, Foamy, and the Warners threatening her with a song and dance number.
Hey, Deadpool. Waiting for your debut here?
You betcha. In the meantime, I'm waiting for some grub. You got anything to eat around here?
I'll cook something. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoyed this. There is more to come. Have a good day and stay safe.
