Paul led the group of girls. It was past 9'oclock. It was getting even darker and colder. This wouldn't help the girls, as they were wearing their cheerleader uniforms. Paul notices a cabin with the numbers 1 and 3 attached on the side of the porch structure with the number 3 hanging by one lose nail.
"Let's check this cabin out, be careful girls. We have to stay on our toes." Paul says.
Paul walks up the small set of stairs and reaches to open the door. It creaks upon opening it, he opens his flashlight and sees everything inside is abandoned, dusty and completely rundown.
Whatever amenities were previously used in here, was completely out of date and useless.
"Okay I think we should camp here until help arrives." Paul says shutting the door and opening another flashlight.
What on earth does he have in his bag? I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls out a tank!
"What happens if that signal hasn't been sent to your friend yet?" Tara points out.
"I'm pretty confident that he's received it by now. It's only a matter of time before help arrives."
"What happens if no one comes?" Hope says.
"For a girl name Hope, you're sure not giving us any hope. (Laughs) I'm kidding." Paul says as Hope smiles at this. Morality and Confidence has to be high at this moment in time.
"What about Mr. Barkin?" Kim asks worried.
"Okay okay. Maybe we should go find him. Kim and I will scout the place, you girls are alright to stay in this cabin together." Pauls asks the others, while they all nodded in agreement
"This might be a bad time, but I desperately need to pee." Liz who seems a big fidgety trying to hold it in.
"Alright then, go with your partner Jessica. And keep a sharp eye out for that creature. Take this flashlight" Paul told the two girls, before heading out to seek a bathroom. Paul gives Tara another flashlight to use.
"How many flashlights do you have?" Tara asks curiously.
"5. Now shall we Kim." Paul answers before facing to Kim.
Kim nods and smiles.
"Ladies first." Paul gestures to the open door.
"Oh no. I'm not falling for that trick. There's somebody out there." Kim says with a smirk, before being serious.
"Okay then, guys first." Paul says.
"Oh no you don't." Kim says putting her arm out in front of Paul.
"Why's that.. Kim?" Paul says grinning and folding his arms playfully.
"Because someone's out there and they'll get you too!"
"About with go through the door together?" Paul says.
"Sounds like a plan."
Both teens manage to fit through the door, but both slightly brushed each other, while going through the door frame. Both were internally blushing and had some thoughts when they brushed each other.
"Looks like both of them are getting along well, eh Bonnie." Tara jabs her elbow towards Bonnie's arm playfully. But Bonnie is continuously staring straight ahead, with a blank expression.
"Bonnie?" Tara asks again, but this time a bit worried.
Bonnie was silent. She was frozen sitting on the floor, with her legs crossed.
Paul chewed her out again. But this time he said something that made her think deeply.
Bonnie is thinking about one thing on her mind.
"Am I really a bitch?" Thinks to herself repeatedly.
Something Paul said triggered something inside of her.
97 Minutes after the sent GPS Signal
Somewhere in Melbourne and Middleton on a phone call
"And that's how I meet Paul. He's a really cool and nice guy. Sorry I got carried away, he's done quite a lot in the past few weeks. It feels like I've known him longer."
"I'd say. We all miss him, but we get to message him almost every single day, he usually calls us a few times a week. But I'm confused. What do you mean by helping your friend with missions?" Manny asked intrigued and with curiosity.
"He never told you?" Wade asked the teen.
"Told me what?" Manny replies clueless about this.
"He's fighting crime with my friend Kim."
Manny stands up from his chair with a shocked expression "What?"
"Yeah. He offered to help one day and did a really great job for a first timer. But my friend Kim is hesitate to make him go full time as her partner."
"What a second, I'm having a hard time wrapping this around my head. Paul. As in Paul Kanellopoulos. Fighting bad guys."
"Unless there is something else he's fighting, then... Yes."
Manny stands in silence for a few seconds before giving his response.
"Mad! So he wants to become full time?"
"Well, I recommended to Kim to put Paul for a one off mission, I think he should continue to help her out, as she used to do this with her partner and since he left the country, she's been riding solo. So, with her and him working together, it will help a lot. They work well together. Plus, he doesn't get paid, even though he did so well on his first mission, he deserves to be her partner."
"Wow." Manny is silent for a few seconds taking all of that in "Our boy has done a lot since leaving. How's he coping though."
"He seems really great. He also has a crush on Kim as well."
"Really? What does she look like?... Not that I'm interested; I want to see if my friend has good tastes. Sorry bro, it's a boys thing." Manny chuckles at the end
"I understand. Why not search her website and find out yourself?"
Wade gave Manny Kim's website URL.
"Alright I guess I will. Also, sorry to end this conversation, I've only got a certain amount of time for international calls, So.." Manny says feeling a bit bad for trying to wrap up this phone call.
"Oh, I understand. You can add me on Discord if you like, its free and a easy way to communicate."
"That would be cool, what's your username"
"MrLoad0421"
"Cheers." Manny adds his gamer code, "Also, you like gaming?"
"Do I ever. I've been playing Fortnite recently, you play?"
"Heck yeah man, you should totally join our party!"
"Thanks, Also I might be trying to help Team Possible, so If I'm not playing, I'm helping them out"
"All good bro. What a second. Did you send for help for Paul?" Manny said nervously wondering if he never did actually sent help all this time.
"Yeah about 10 minutes ago"
"Phew, for a second there I thought I distracted you from preventing that"
"No, its all good. I get stuff done easily."
"Nice" Manny says before picking up his headset and adds Wade to the Fortnite Party.
"Manny, where've you been? You said 5 minutes. Is Paul alright? And Who's MrLoad?" – Lucas
"Lucas, I would like you to meet Wade. He's Paul's friend from America. And keep the language to a minimal guys. He's a young man." – Manny
"Hi" – Wade
"Hey, you sound young man. How old are you" – Lucas
"I'm 9." – Wade
"Ummmm" – Lucas and Jason
"I'll explain later boys... Actually Paul will give us the explanation." – Manny
Both of Paul's friends were a bit hesitate about this
"So where we dropping fellas? – Wade
"Good enough for me" – Jason
"Yep, lets gooooo!" - Lucas
(Fortnite sound effects)
Paul and Kim were walking in the dark woods. All alone together, they had to find Mr. Barkin who mysteriously vanished earlier, when Kim was with him.
Kim took Paul to the area where he disappeared and looked to see for any evidence where we could have possibly gone to.
Or more like dragged to.
"So what exactly happened to Mr. Barkin anyway?" Paul says looking at the tracks on the floor with his flashlight.
"We were picking up sticks for the fire and... talking about something." Kim says avoid talking about her conversation she had with Barkin.
"And he suddenly disappeared?" Paul said.
"Well I heard a twig snap and it startled me. Barkin was telling me to calm down that I was hearing things. Next thing you know it, I see him getting dragged on the floor screaming. I tired to follow him, but something threw goo at me, but I dodged it." Kim says.
"Hmmm. This is definitely a set up." Paul says.
"How do you know that?"
"Kim. Who welds the doors shut in the middle of nowhere? Someone is punking us."
"You've got a point." Kim says
"And look. See the floor how it has a line going straight down, into those large trees." Paul states
"Yeah, so someone placed a rope and when the timing was right..." Kim continues off his sentence.
"It dragged Steve away."
"It dragged Barkin away."
Both teens said similar sentences at the same time.
"Jin- Wait.. he's names Steve? How did you know?" Kim was about to say 'Jinx' to the other teen but was questioning Paul, how he knew his name.
"Because me and him had a good talk last week."
Kim remembered her little talk with Barkin before he went missing in the woods about Paul. He said that Paul told Bonnie off in the cafeteria. Meaning almost the entire school body probably knows about this incident. She's legit the last one to know about this. Paul didn't tell her, Josh, her cheer squad members. Even Monique! She was left out about this. She was thinking when she had a mission during the school day and it overlapped that day of the incident. This might be a bad scenario to be in at the moment, with her substitute teacher now missing and all, but she was alone with Paul. And right now is the time for answers.
"Paul." Kim speaks up
"Yes Kim?"
"I need you to be honest with me."
Paul stiffens a bit. "Of course Kim."
"Oh god. Don't tell me she's going to confess something to me." Paul thinks.
"Last week, did you t-"
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" A loud feminine voice shrieked, interrupts Kim.
They quickly stare behind them.
"The girls!" Both said at the same time and both stared at each other.
Both quickly ran back Cabin 13. They enter through the door and see all the girls missing.
"Shit! This is bad. They must have gotten them too." Paul says.
"They? How do you know it's a group of people?"
"They, plural or singular. Him or her. No way one person could have done all of this. This is clearly planned. And very well."
"Well we have to find 'them' and the others quickly." Kim says.
"Agreed. We have to check the rest of the cabins." Paul says before moving out.
The duo exits the cabin and begins to scout the campsite. The begin opening very cabin door. After 5 minutes of searching the entire campsite area, there was no sign of the girls anywhere!
"They're nowhere to be seen!" Paul says completely bamboozled.
"Well we've searched nearly the entire campsite. We should wait for police to come." Kim points out the safer option. They were running out of ideas. It was cold and pretty dark as well.
"They'll take too long and it will be too late. I'm certain the police are aware of the situation by now." Paul says, confident that his signal got across to his friend back at home.
"You're right. Where haven't we checked yet?" Kim thinks.
Both teens think for a few seconds, both had an answer
"The bathroom!"
"Jinx!"
"Double Jinx!"
"Triple Jinx?"
"Touch Red!"
Both teens touch red. Which was on Paul's jacket, then they look at each other.
"We don't have time for these games!"
Both stopped and laughed at each other. They both enjoyed each others company a lot.
Kim was slightly embarrassed for touching Paul's jacket. Although her confidence was starting to build up around him. Then it fades away at times.
They eventually find the bathroom for the camp. It was a communal bathroom. There was a boys and girls side.
"It's best to stick together, we can't go to each bathroom alone." Paul says
"It's okay. I'll make an acceptation for you. Only this once." Kim says playfully to Paul.
"Gee thanks. I'm glad I've got you on my side Kim." Paul says playfully. "I'll give you a pass to go inside the men's bathroom. Let's check the men's first."
Both check the men's bathroom in a quiet manner... It was empty.
Few seconds later both enter the women's bathroom...
"Empty as well. Okay let's-"
'DROOP'
Both teens are startled by the drip sound.
"Wait... Did you hear that?" Paul whispers to Kim as they heard a sound coming from one of the cubicles.
"It's coming from the last toilet." Kim whispers, both teens look at each other and slowly approach the cubicle. Their hearts are pacing fast, getting faster each footstep they take towards the door. Paul signals Kim to open the door on the count of three from his fingers.
1...
2...
3...
"BAMM!"
"AHHHHHH!"
"ARRGHHH"
"AHHHH- Tara! What are you doing in here!" Paul says.
"Thank god you guys are okay! The rest of the girls got captured!" Tara says standing on the toilet seat, in a squatted position.
"You saw them get captured? Who were they?" Kim says.
"It wasn't them! It was a big glowing fish!" Tara says empathising massive fish with her hands.
"Big glowing fish? What the fuck!" Paul says completely taken back.
"That walks!" Tara says frighten.
Okay, she is clearly taking the piss.
"How big are we talking about?" Kim says lifting her eyebrow curiously.
"I don't know. It was like... 6... Foot something." Tara says a bit unsure.
"So... you're telling me a massive fish took the girls and possibly Mr Barkin?" Paul says to the blonde.
"Well, we were inside the cabin and we heard loud screaming noises. We knew it was Liz and Jessica, because they went to the bathroom before you guys left to find Barkin. We went out to investigate. Some of the girls went and search one part of the camp, but we weren't that far apart. Then the fish man appeared, and they disappeared within a matter of seconds! Then Bonnie and I were the only ones left. Before I knew it Bonnie disappeared too. She's been acting strange for the past hour." Tara explains.
"What? Her nails weren't filled properly?" Kim says folding her arms. That was typical Bonnie for here to act strange. Her hair was probably frizzy.
"I don't know. She was very quiet though. Probably from Paul's earful of words."
"I'm sorry I yelled at your friend. She wasn't being nice. I know you're probably close friends with her."
"I think she was totally out of line this evening. But she wasn't always like this."
Kim rolls her eyes, she believes Bonnie will never change. Tara felt sorry for Kim as she always has arguments with her most of the time.
"As for Barkin, theoretically speaking... Yes. He was most likely taken by the fish man too."
Both teens stared at each other. Tara was thinking that both teens thought she was crazy.
Kim speaks up first, "Oh come on Tara, there's n-" She was interrupted.
"I believe you." Paul says straight forward.
"What?"
"You do?"
Both girls said at the same time. One surprised and other being thankful, to think both other teens thought she was crazy.
"Yes. Kim, when I went on the first mission with you and the few stories you told me at school, and I usually am the type to see it to believe it. But judging by Tara's facial expressions and reactions. She saw something, that would even make our stomach churn. Plus when you hang out with Kim… Geez, you don't know what crazy situations you will end up in. And I say that with the up most respect for Kim and her insane bravery."
"Thanks Paul." Kim smiles sweetly at the teen.
"Plus, it explains the large webbed footprint you saw Kim. And you put two in two together. Unless these guys are super geniuses and are really good at hustling."
"If they are pranking us, this charade has gone too far." Tara says.
"You're right. We've got to find the others quickly." Kim says.
"We've got to leave the bathroom now as well. We've spent too much time here and made too much noise in here." Paul says.
All three teens left the girl's bathroom quickly and begin to find the others straight away. There were running out of camp area to search. Funny enough across the other side of the large lake, they saw multiple camps and strange enough, all of them looked new facilities. While this one was abandoned and run down.
...
..
.
WAIT A SECOND!
.
Other Camps?
TELEPHONES!
CALL FOR HELP!
"Guys we-"
Both voices stop talking. The two voices came from Kim and Paul. Both looked at each other.
"Were you about to say get help from the camps across the water." Paul says, pointing across the water.
".. Wow. We really do think alike. Yes. I'm a great swimmer. I once swam the English Channel." Kim points out.
"Holy shit! That's like 35 Kilometres!" Paul said looking impressed.
"I'll swim across the lake. You take care of Tara." Kim says. She looks down at her dress. "Although I wish I wasn't wearing a skirt right now." Kim says to herself, as she stares at the lake.
"Don't worry. She will be safe with me. I'll just-" Paul paused before having a look at the lake.
He notices the water glowing in the far distance. That wasn't a good sign.
Followed by noticing a few barrels of….
JESUS CHRIST!
NO!
Oh NO!
TOXIC WASTE BARRELS!
"Right. I'm going to start swimming. Wish me luck guys." Kim says, giving off a quick salute to the other teens, as she prepares a big runup followed by a swan dive in the lake.
"KIM! NOOOO!" Paul tries to stop Kim from jumping in.
Paul tackles Kim as she gets ready to dive into the toxic infested water.
They are both lucky the didn't fall in together when Paul made the tackle.
"Paul! What are you doing? Get off of me." Kim says blushing and a bit pissed at the teens antics.
"Kim, you were about to swim in nuclear waste water!"
Paul then immediately realises that he's still on top of Kim's lower half of her body. Paul gets up to create less embarrassment and gives Kim a hand up from the floor, as he moves back a few steps.
"What are you talking about." Kim says dusting herself off. Now her uniform was dirty.
Paul taps Kim's head as he points towards the glowing water and toxic waste barrels "Gee Kim, I don't know. According to the sign out front, Camp Wannaweep has been toxic free since 2014. Care to take a closer look."
Kim now identified the toxic water and barrels.
She was completely silent. She nearly jumped into toxic infested waters. If she didn't know about the water being contaminated, she would have suffered dire consequences in regards to becoming a mutation or something far worse... A glowing Shego look-a-like.
"Well that's some false advertising on that sign." Tara says with her arms crossed, unpleasant that the camp lied about being toxic free. In all fairness though it was abandoned.
"Toxic free my ass" Paul says, agreeing with Tara in regards to their slogan at the front of the camp. Paul faces back to the red haired teen.
Kim was still quiet.
She didn't say thank you to Paul about saving her from a toxic swim.
But instead she hugged the teen tightly. Paul was really surprised at this. His crush was hugging him.
It felt... nice.
Paul didn't know what to say, he was shocked that a girl was hugging him, to show a token of appreciation from saving her.
Kim was almost in tears. He technically saved her life. Toxic Waste is very bad for the human body after all.
To be fair, it didn't seem like a big deal, but this was in fact a major deal to him. He didn't want the beautiful red head to turn into a mutant and join the X-Men. Like that even exists in real life.
Paul then wrapped his hands around her back and patted her.
"There, there. Sorry for tackling you to the ground. I hope I didn't hurt you." Paul says in a soft sincere tone.
"Don't be! You saved me back there. I had no idea what I was getting into." Kim says being thankful to the teen.
"Don't be dramatic" Paul says grinning.
"I'm serious! I took you for granted before." Kim holds Paul arms at shoulder length, before hugging him again.
"No you didn't. You were confused. We all reach that point during our teen hood. It's the basics of growing up and bettering ourselves."
Kim breaks the hug and says "Thank you."
Kim had a strong urge to kiss him.
"It's alright Kim." Paul says. He had the urge to keep on hugging her, but he had to get back to his 'A' game on. "Alright... here's the deal. We can't swim there, because of the toxic water. But surely there's a way to walk around to the other campsite. Let's go together."
"Can't we stay here?" Kim says.
"I mean you can. But I think its too dangerous. We're the last three standing." Paul says getting flashlights from his backpack.
"Come one Paul, I've dealt with many crooks before, they… I mean… The thing out there. I believe. I can take it on. I've dealt with much more stranger things. Like the time I-"
"Sorry to break up story time Kim. I would love to hear about it after a nice cup of coco or tea, but we've got to get help on this campsite ASAP!" Paul says.
"Look Paul. Trust me, we'll be okay" Kim reassures the teen.
Paul was about to say something else, but realised Kim can defend for herself and she'll protect Tara too, while Paul has some doubts whether he can protect the blonde cheerleader. He didn't want to let her down. "Okay Kim, it's your call. Just please be safe and keep this flashlight." Paul throws the flashlight to Kim, she catches it with ease.
"Take care girls. Paul out." Paul says pumping his chest twice and giving the peace sign to both girls, before running off to find across to the other camps. Both girls were now together standing quietly. Tara was the first one to break the silence.
"You like him don't you?" Tara says.
"M-me? Like Paul? HA. He's just a friend Tara." Kim lies. She was a bit jealous, when Tara spoke to the teen a while back inside the gym and gave him a hug.
"A friend huh? A friend that you hug? Can't talk without stuttering around? Playfully flirt to each other? Han-"
"We don't flirt!" Kim says with a bit of anger and crosses her arms.
"That's not what I see and hear Kim. I see the way you look at him." Kim was about to speak, "But don't worry Kim. You're secret is safe with me. He's all yours.. I've got to admit, he looks cute. But my eye is on someone else. That's if he can wait…" Tara says with doubtful ness at the end.
"You have a crush on someone too?"
"Y-yeah. I do... Wait a second! You said 'too'! HA. I knew you liked him." Tara says.
"I don't Tara!"
"Admit it." Tara says smiling.
Kim's stubborn nature finally broke, "Fine! I do like him. Okay!"
"I knew it. I think you both make a cute couple." Tara says getting all exhilarated up.
it's just…." Kim says sadly.
Tara grin wipes off to a normal expression "Just what?"
"I don't think he likes me back." Kim says rubbing her arm nervously.
"Are you serious Kim! He's totally into you!" Tara reassures the redhead.
"What? No way. I'm not his type."
"Kim you're everybody's type."
"I take bad guys down for a living. What boy wants that in a relationship?" Kim says.
"Kim, I can assure you that Paul wouldn't even care if you took down your villains. It doesn't bother him. He went on a mission with you, is what I've been told. What boy is brave enough to do that? And you've barely known each other for more than 2 months. I think he totally likes you."
Tara was right Kim thought. No boy, besides Ron, Kim's best friend, ever asked to join or offer Kim assistance for any of her missions. He's just a boy from Australia, who has previous boxing experience from his grandfather, willing to help out the redhead teen and risking his own life as well. Even he's aware that payment is not offered for this type of work. This boy really must liked Kim, that's willing to do that for her. Call it idiotic, but it's sweet. Sweet enough to win her heart.
Hell when did Tara turn into a Monique type of person! Where was the quiet Tara all these years she's been seeing gone to?
"Well if he likes me back, how do we make this relationship work? He's only going to be here for 2 years and off he'll be back at home. Then what? He calls this a fling or something like that? I prefer a relationship that's going to last." Kim says in all honesty. She wanted someone that liked her for her.
"Yeah. I didn't really plan that whole thing through." Tara says rubbing her arm.
"It's alright. I'm sure we'll both find the right one for us. Speaking of which. Who you crushing on?"
"Well... I've liked him for a long time now." Tara starts to explain, she's unaware something is coming out the water behind her.
"Yeah? Who's the lucky guy?" Kim asks, before her eyes dart to the mysterious creature in the water. Kim's eyes widen
"His name is-" Tara is interrupted after she sees Kim's face and looks to where she's facing
A devilish smile appears on the face of the creature that comes out of the water and lurks towards the two teenage girls.
"ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!"
