Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Monster High. I do not own the original story this is based on.
Days went by as Danny and Spectra enjoyed their summer days. They had mostly kept to the monster world for their dates, with a few instances of Danny Phantom showing up. However, those appearances were kept to a strict location where they could enjoy themselves without any paparazzi, or monsterazzi in the monster world.
Though photos were being leaked of Spectra with Danny Phantom and Danny Fenton. This could lead to two outcomes: Either monsters and ghouls would put two and two together, or Spectra would be branded a two-timer. The latter of which could hurt her reputation.
Which came to the conclusion that Danny might have to reveal himself to the monster world. Or at least to Spectra's followers. But, that would most likely lead to them blabbing or, worse, following. And not on social media.
This brings everyone to right now at a cafe in the monster world. Spectra had her friends join for some input.
"So, what are we going to do?" Danny asked nervously. He was in human form again with Spectra, who was floating about. The ghoul couldn't keep still. Some monsters and ghouls stared in concern but ignored it as it was none of their business.
"We need to think of something soon," The female ghost said, looking down.
"Well, you two were gonna come forward eventually, right?" Lagoona asked.
"about me being a halfa, maybe, but this is not something I'm just going to come and talk about. I can't go Hey, I'm Danny Phantom, I'm a monster like you but also a human boy. It's just something I can't reveal," Danny said. The last part was in a whisper in case of prying ears.
"Uhhhh..." Ghoulia rasped.
"Exactly, normies don't have any clue about the monster world, and anyone suspicious about Spectra has only been from Monster High," Cleo added.
"Not to mention it's not really trending right now," Draculaura said, looking at her phone. "Right now, the hot topic is the new Justin Biter video."
"Justin Biter?" Danny questioned while the ghouls squealed at the video Draculaura was showing. The boy sighed, now having to not understand girls but monster girls as well. Life was becoming more complex.
"I tried calling Jackson, or he's Holt right now, but neither has answered me," Franky added. She had been making glances at her phone the entire time. She doesn't get even a text in response.
The ghostly couple knew how complicated their relationship would be, and that was without Danny's ghost-obsessed parents. And they've been asking about Spectra. This was probably just going to be one of those obstacles they'd have to cross when they got to that bridge.
Spectra found that infuriating, but that was her afterlife.
"Well, for now, we could just go about our business," Spectra said.
"Sounds good to me," Danny said with a chuckle. He grasped the ghost girl's hand, eliciting a blush from her. Their audience awed out loud as the ghost boy's face joined her shade of red.
And they weren't the only ones. From a cat's eye view, a pair of eyes peered through some binoculars from across the monster mall. With a Cheshire smile, this ghoul thought what she could do. A thought she shared with her posse.
"So, we're here right now. What do you ghouls want to do?" Frankly asked.
"Oooh! There's a sale at Abnerzombie & Witch!" Draculaura said. She showed the ad on her iCoffin.
"You fur real!? Let's hit it!" Clawdeen exclaimed, dragging any ghoul she grabbed. Danny was within range and one of those victims as he pondered what to do about this. He turned to the other ghoul, Franky.
"Do we tell her or...?" Danny asked. Instantly he realized only Franky's arm was there. The severed appendage waved hello as the ghost boy stared before deciding it was better not to ask or care.
"Wait, Clawdeen! You got Danny!" Spectra exclaimed as she and Draculaura chased after.
"And my arm!" Franky yelled.
The others wanted to follow, but Cleo felt the hand of Ghoulia tugging at her shirt. The zombie girl seemed mildly distressed.
"Moum..." Ghoulia groaned.
"What is it, Ghoulia?" Cleo asked.
"Uuhhh..." Ghoulia rasped, pointing up.
Cleo and Lagoona looked to see a student for Monster High. A werecat and her group that was infamous to the gang.
"Torelai," Cleo said softly yet with a tinge of opposition. "What does she want?"
"Whatever it is, it can't be ghoul," Lagoona added.
The trio glared at the were-cat group. The lead cat didn't blink as she turned her attention to Spectra and Danny. She narrowed her eyes as a mischievous smirk grew before she flipped around and walked away.
"Ok, that meant trouble," Lagoona said with a frown.
"What did?" Frankly asked. The ghoul's answer had her head gently turned to the three cats. "Oh, Torelai. Hi, Torelai!" she waved with her only arm.
Cleo, Ghoulia, and Lagoona rolled their eyes before grabbing their friend and running after Clawdeen.
They knew that whatever Torelai might want, it can't be good.
Clawdeen made it to Abnerzombie & Witch. The clothes were fantastic and on sale, just like Draculaura said.
"Oh, where should we start first, ghoulfriends?" Clawdeen asked.
"Uh, Clawdeen. I think you might want to make sure who you drag around like a rag doll next time," Danny said, pointing to the dismembered arm in her other hand.
"Oh, sorry, Danny," Clawdeen said in embarrassment as she stopped. She soon saw that the other ghouls weren't here and realized everyone else was far behind her.
"Sorry," She said sheepishly before noticing his wardrobe.
"Ya know Danny, I think you could use a bit more scare in your wardrobe," Clawdeen commented as she gave him a glance over before smirking.
Danny blinked and looked at himself.
"You really think I need a new shirt?" Danny asked. He got changed and tried on the shirt but had his doubts. Still, what's the harm?
Getting into the changing room, Danny could make out the voice or Draculaura, who seemed out of breath. The vampire walked over to Clawdeen at a nearby rack.
"There...you are," Draculaura panted. "Woo! Next time, let all walk together."
"Sorry about that, but you know I like to keep up afearances and fashion. I just have to see what I learn," Clawdeen replied.
"What are you doing?"
"Seeing about updating Danny's outfit," Clawdeen replied as she picked up a shirt. "He could use a little touching up, but we're doing nothing major."
Draculaura squeed as she joined in. Danny went through different shirts that ranged from many ghostly colors, though other monster styles were also thrown in. From shirts with ectoplasmic rims to some furry trim ensembles. The ghost boy was unable to understand monster fashion. Maybe he should go to a library to check things out. Or ask Clawdeen. The ghoul wanted to be a fashion designer.
As Danny stepped out of the changing room, Draculaura took photos with her iCoffin as Clawdeen judged the color clash.
"Come on, work your stuff. You're not ugly," Clawdeen said as she got into the zone.
Danny sighed as he decided to give a weak pose. The ghouls were not impressed. He thought this might be the weirdest thing he's ever done. But the wolf girl wasn't done as she brought him a bunch of stuff to try out.
The others arrived as the ghost boy put on his third shirt. This one was a black V-neck with red outlines and flashy letters that spelled Top Manster. The girls' reacted with some snickering, and it was off instantaneously.
"I don't think this is me," Danny said with unsureness. But he still was forced to put on a few more outfits before Clawdeen was satisfied.
And they weren't the only ones watching.
Spectra was on her laptop researching the hottest trends of the summer. There were many topics like the upcoming Scary Rotter film, the latest fashion news, and even the newest alien hybrid visitors, but none of them excited her. She loved her position in the Gory Gazette with everything she had done, but the ghoul wanted to feel like a reporter. It was her dream, after all, and she wanted to make a headstart. Yet nothing was even remotely interesting for a juicy article. She wasn't expecting much, her expectations were realistic, but after finding a special manster in her life, the ghoul felt she'd achieve more.
Or it was an adrenaline rush or something similar.
Either way, the past few days had mainly hot topics, and the only times she felt like a reporter were when she did a photo op of Danny Phantom. And as much as she enjoyed that, Spectra didn't want to be a single-story reporter.
It was no way to make a living like that.
"There's gotta be something going on," Spectra muttered to herself as she surfed the web. She wanted to find something interesting, or something big, like another alien invasion or maybe another supernatural uprising.
She spent about ten minutes without any results. The most interesting thing so far was the news about a small town that just outed a kid psycho after his giant robot was destroyed, but that wasn't exactly something she'd want to report. Well, unless a certain snow-haired, glowing green-eyed ghost boy was there. No, she had to shake that thought out. Not every heroic article would be about Danny, and there weren't enough details for the giant robot.
Still, such an event was not something one would expect from a small town.
Typing away, the ghoul researched the tiny, obscure location in the Northwest. And she was surprised to see the supernatural weirdness surrounding it.
It was like a getaway for monsters. Only no one had ever seemed to show any reports about these kinds of monsters. Flying with joy, Spectra began packing her bags. An undocumented, at least from what she could find on the monster net, town brimming with mansters and ghouls.
Calling it a once-in-an-afterlifetime-experience would be an understatement. This could be the step in the door she needed.
But there was one problem that came up when she asked her folks.
While they were happy for her, the two were concerned for her safety. Going to a new town was one thing; going to a distant, obscure, new town where previously undocumented monsters lived was entirely different. They put their foot down on this, though they wore ghostly tails when they told Spectra, and forbid her to go.
At least, not without protection, an idea Spectra put out.
"Please! Please! Please!" Spectra pleaded.
Her father gave her a stern face as his wife shook her head. They knew their daughter well and didn't want to risk anything happening to her. She was sixteen, turning seventeen in a few months, but that didn't mean she couldn't get hurt. Humans were one thing; monsters were another.
And that was when Spectra got an idea.
"What if I bring Danny with me?" she asked.
The parents thought about that. Yes, they knew about Danny Fenton, aka Danny Phantom, and his reputation. How could they not when the ghost girl squealed with joy when she found out he picked her.
"I don't know," the father said. "You've only been dating for almost a month."
"This could be good for them," the mother commented. "But it is rather...prompt."
Eventually, they relented. While there was still concern about their daughter going off on her own with her boyfriend for only a couple weeks, the boy was known for fighting off ghosts. Perhaps he'd even be able to fight monsters, if necessary.
"Alright, but I want constant updates...and texts...and photos," the father said.
"Now, Specter, be reasonable," the mother replied.
"Reasonable? She's going off on her own with a boyfriend we haven't even met yet. I am being reasonable, Elvira."
"True, but Spectra is a responsible ghoul. And we raised her right."
"But—"
"I hear your concern, die-ling, but we have to have trust in our daughter and her manster."
Specter sighed as he relented. He may not know much about Danny, but his wife was right. That had to trust her. Besides, it was the safest option, and he couldn't say no to that.
"Alright," Specter said. He held his daughter's shoulders as he spoke. "But please let us know if anything happens, alright?"
"I will," Spectra promised.
Specter smiled as he and Elvira hugged their daughter before she rushed off to her room.
She was so excited the ghoul couldn't make sense of her next statement.
"Danny! Start churning butter and put on your ballroom shoes cause we're gonna blast off!"
Danny paused on the other end, unable to react to that statement. He honestly believed he was crank called by an impersonator, but he decided to give the benefit of the doubt as he talked back.
"Uh, Spectra, what are you talking about? In fact, are you alright?—"
"I'm better than alright! I think I just found a big scoop in the history of monster...history!"
"Uh, ok? So I take it you need help or something..."
"—Yes! It's a remote town with all thee uncategorized monsters, who may not know of the monster world!" She said in excitement while her boyfriend looked concerned. But Danny didn't interrupt as she continued. "And that's where I might need some help from my brave, handsome, strong boyfriend some protection."
Danny could hear the honey in her voice. It was so thick, you'd have to cut a hole to see through it. And it was too sweet to ignore, like puppy dog eyes.
"And nothing I say will change your mind, huh?" Danny commented. He hadn't seen this side of Spectra. And if he were honest, he liked it.
"You're fangsalutly right, die-ling!"
"Alright, then I'm gonna need a location and date."
Spectra squeezed lowly as she giddily floated about. After a few seconds, she calmed down to tell Danny about this big scoop.
"Well, get ready! Cause we're going to Gravity Falls!"
Short Chapter, but now we get to a major arc. Weirdmageddon. So next time, we'll have more to enjoy. Looks like a previous date will be making an appearance, now let's see what happens when Danny gets involved. The next chapter will be out sooner than last. Though I hope to add more summer chapters before it officially ends here. If you have any thoughts, comments, or opinions, please leave a review.
Special Thanks! to Flower Princess11 for all her help!
Also, two chapters in one day, yes! Had to gloat!
Reviews:
ghust95: Yeah...I tend to update these late. Mainly because that's when I finish editing and can post.
Invader Johnny: Oh, the fun is just beginning.
RonaldM40196867: Not exactly, but Sam hate conforming, which is what normal can be. SHe doesn't understand the concept well. Oh, you were...I'm indifferent to the idea if Death Battle had Vlad battle Zs'skayr. I'll have to see the movies and see how to incorporate them. Finally, yes.
Jebest4781: Thanks!
Dreams Come True 996: Sam won't become any of those things. Although Sma is not the worst for Danny, so Torelai and Nefera will have to duke it out. Interesting idea, but I've got that part of the plot down for now. Thank you for the idea.
Major Simi: Thanks!
qazse: That'll be a day...or a chapter. Whichever comes first.
Luiz4200: Maybe...
DJ Rodriguez: Thanks!
William Escobar 608: 1) ¿Callo?
LockAndKey989: Here's your update.
Jay The Average Fan Boy: 1) Penelope Spectra's time at monster High will be explored. Just much later after she is introduced to the ghouls. 2) All ghosts can do that...I think. 3) The monster world works like the magical realm in that it is hidden, but can be accessed by non-magical creatures.
Tyler(Guest): ...?
Guest: Thanks!
Zoomedin: Deadpool will appear and I have plans to have him more than just comic relief in my fics. Other wall breakers will be here as well.
Guest 2: Thanks!
