Note: Welp, it's the final week of classes for me in the Spring Semester at OU, so I feel somewhat stressed. However, I can manage, so don't worry. Before moving on, I want to say something to two reviewers.
hechtmanelijah6: Again, this story is set in an alternate universe, so none of the events from the show actually happened in this story. I hope that knowing that doesn't deter you from reading the rest of the story.
Ron: I haven't seen enough Robotech to do a crossover between it and The Raccoons, sorry.
Alrighty, seeing as this is one of the four ongoing stories I have, let's move on and enter chapter nine.
Chapter 9: The Scaled Assassin
Two weeks after he ran the obstacle course, Bentley decided to continue on his training. For instance, he would often practice his hand-to-hand combat skills on punching bags. In addition to that, the young raccoon would work on his own attacks that would aid him in battle. The rest of the team would check up on him, mainly to make sure that he didn't get hurt. To their surprise, he had improved his skills by an impressive margin. It would seem that Bentley was becoming stronger as time rolled on. However, his skills would have to be put to the test when Tuesday rolled around.
While he was walking through the Evergreen Forest, Bentley saw Bairei rushing towards him. The boy stopped in his tracks, letting his family friend slow down.
"Bairei, what's wrong?" Bentley asked.
"We've got a new mission." Bairei answered.
"What's the mission about?" The little boy asked.
"We have to prevent the assassination of the Prime Minister." The older raccoon said. "The Serpent Gang hired the infamous Yusuke Shiobana for the job, and we have to stop him before he can kill anyone."
"Perfect, I can use my new skills to beat him!" The younger raccoon cracked his knuckles, ready for the mission.
"Don't get cocky, Shiobana is experienced and elusive. Even I'm afraid to fight him!"
"I'm sure that we'll defeat him. Besides, we should carry on with the mission, we're wasting time!"
Bairei and Bentley then ran off, eager to join their allies in the new mission.
A lizard walked through the office of the Prime Minister, occasionally looking around. Before he could look around for much longer, a janitor came up to him.
"Are you lost, sir?" He asked.
"No, but I'm looking for the Prime Minister." The lizard stated.
"His office is up there." The janitor said, pointing down the hallway.
"Thanks," the lizard said, "but, unfortunately for you, today is your last day on the job."
Before he could react, the janitor received a knife across through his head. After that, the lizard dragged the janitor's corpse to the closet, removing his clothing and placing it on himself. When that was out of the way, the lizard spoke into a communicator.
"This is Shiobana," the lizard, the infamous Yusuke Shiobana, spoke into it, "I've got a disguise and I'm moving towards the Prime Minister."
"Good," Hirose's voice came out of the communicator, "now kill the Prime Minister and kill the Seven Heroes if they get in the way."
"On it." Shiobana said, stepping out of the janitor's closet. He then moved down the hallway, opening the door to the Prime Minister's office. The Prime Minister was sitting next to two fine-dressed men. Shiobana smiled, knowing that his mission would be complete.
This is too easy. The lizard thought to himself. Perhaps I could kill the other two as well. After all, I might as well kill as much people as I can during a mission.
Shiobana ran towards the Prime Minister, taking out a dagger as he got ready to kill him. The lizard was fast on his feet, practically teleporting over to his target. Before he could plunge the dagger into the Prime Minister, something stopped the blade.
"What the?!" Shiobana yelled.
"Getting rusty, are we?" One of the fine-dressed men asked.
The fine-dressed men took their suits off, revealing themselves to be Ryuta and Chikaga. After that, Bairei, Mayumi, Shizuka, Schaefer, and Bentley entered the room with their weapons ready.
"Ah, the Seven Heroes." Shiobana said, licking the blade of his dagger.
"Chikaga," Bairei said, "get the Prime Minister out of here!"
"On it!" Chikaga said as he kicked Shiobana to the side, allowing him to lead the Prime Minister out of the room.
"Your battle is with us, assassin!" Ryuta said to Shiobana.
"Very well." Shiobana said as he cracked his knuckles.
The first Heroes who fought Shiobana were Bairei and Ryuta. While Bairei traded swipes of his katana with swipes from Shiobana's dagger, Ryuta tried to bring the assassin down with his tachi. However, the lizard dodged the two of them, knocking down Ryuta. Mayumi threw her fans at Shiobana, only succeeding in scratching the assassin's left arm. Shizuka was next, swinging her spear at the dagger-wielding lizard. However, nothing phased the assassin, as he quickly dodged their attacks.
"You're all mere obstacles for the Serpent Gang." Shiobana said as he knocked them all down.
"That's part of our plan to save the world, you creep!" Bentley said as he rushed towards Shiobana with his knife ready for battle.
"So, you're the new member of the team?" The lizard asked, his voice having minor laughter in it.
"That's right!" Bentley answered as he swung his knife at Shiobana, scratching the assassin's chest.
"You're only but a child!" Shiobana spat to the side.
"Looks can be deceiving!" The young raccoon said. "Besides, I was only distracting you!"
"Distracting me from what?" The lizard asked.
"From me." Schaefer said as he swung his clawed gauntlet at Shiobana, which knocked the assassin down.
"Nice one, Arthur!" Ryuta said.
"Thanks." Schaefer said, approaching Shiobana.
"Arthur Schaefer, I thought I recognized you." The lizard said.
"Yusuke Shiobana," Schaefer said, "you are easily one of the most violent assassins in the world. You have killed an untold amount of innocent people, and for that, you will meet your end here."
"Shiobana, come back to HQ." Hirose's voice came out of a communicator.
"I didn't kill the Prime Minister yet." Shiobana said.
"Forget that," Hirose spoke through the communicator, "our main focus is the Ruby of Saturn. Report back to HQ and bandage your wounds."
"On it." The lizard said as he got up and started to run out of the room.
"Oh no, you don't!" Bentley shouted as he gave chase.
"Let him go, Bentley." Ryuta said. "We'll get him later."
Officer Perry walked into the room.
"Are you guys alright?" He asked.
"Yes." Ryuta said.
"We prevented the Prime Minister's assassination!" Shizuka said.
"I take it that the lizard who passed me by was the assassin?" Officer Perry asked.
"Yes." Bairei said.
"Don't worry, I've got men chasing after him." The Doberman said.
"Is that why you're here, Officer?" Bentley asked.
"That," he said, "and something else."
"What is it?" Bairei asked.
"I'm joining you in your mission against the Serpent Gang." Officer Perry stated. "They have been causing trouble for quite some time, and they need to be stopped."
"First, we prevented an assassination and now Officer Perry's joining us?" Bentley asked.
"Today just keeps getting better and better." Bairei said.
Note: This was harder to write than I thought, given how I wound up helping my mother make a cheesecake last night. However, here it is, and it's finished. What did you guys think about this chapter?
