With Kim still wearing a moon-boot on her leg, confining her to from travelling far distances, she decided to stay at home for the day and let Paul do what he had to do.
With an English Project approaching at the end of the month, he decided to do some thorough research.
Back at home, he would go over the top and research everything about certain topics. When it came to certain companies, he would even visit the actual place for first grade sources, if he had the time on his schedule. But tackling with his new found job of missions, he now has an abrupt schedule as everything is late minute.
The teen has a project involving big companies within the US for English. He was currently at Hench Corporation Headquarters in Denver, one of their many offices around the States. He had to travel about half an hour or so to reach their HQ. Wasn't too far with public transport, just one bus ride to the main city in Colorado. Deciding not to waste any of Kim's favours to travel for his own benefit. An Uber wasn't bad either.
While waiting inside the lobby he saw some weird characters coming in and out of the building.
But nonetheless they were probably employees or customers. He couldn't be too quick to judge this place. Even if there's strange photos on the walls of the lobby.
It wasn't easy to get an appointment with the apparent President and Founder of Hench Co... Jack Hench.
He thought it was clever to use his surname as the companies name. Whoever he is a very mysterious man, he's life seemed so private. There was very limited information about him and the company too. He would almost not comply with the criteria submission for this project if he hadn't visited Hench Corporation today. It was quite a strange one for company turning over millions and millions of dollars.
He was also solidly booked for the last week and finally had an opening to come and see him. The teen decided to go visit him to ask all these questions for his assignment, but lets just say... Mr Hench isn't the fellow who he seems to be.
Paul was still waiting in the secretary's waiting room. His curiosity peaking at every waiting minute to finally meet this Jack Hench person. Finally the secretary women walked up to him. "Mr Kanellopoulos, Mr Hench is ready for his interview. His office is that way." The women said to the teen. Paul was thinking finally after a long wait inside the lobby. He quietly thanked the lady and he walked towards his office, seeing many photos of people along the way. The all appeared to be signed for some reason. Must have been some famous people.
He finally reaches the office and sees a well dressed man's... back. He was facing the window view of his office.
He clears his throat to gain his attention "Hello sir."
The man turns around from the window "...Ah, you must the young teen who want's to interview my company." Mr Hench says.
"Yes I am. Paul Kanellopoulos. I'm researching about your company for a school project." He introduces himself, Jack shakes his hand and both proceed to take a seat.
"Ah for a school project. Well I supposed I can tell you about the story of Hench Co. Jack Hench by the way. Come take a seat Paul. I will be pretty open book about our business. But I can't tell you everything. Most of it is a secret." Jack says the last part quietly.
"That's all good sir. Now I wanna get a quick start on this, seeing as you're busy and all. So tell me about your marketing target, products, goals, your life story about how you developed your own company a-and how you plan to expand your business within the next decade."
"My that's a lot of interesting questions young man. I'll take them one at a time. But We've got to keep within the scheduled meeting limited... Well first things first was that when I was younger. I was raised from a lower class family, from nothing. My father wasn't a very nice fellow. My childhood wasn't all that bad, but I was a hard worker from a teenager. I wanted to change the world. Like Microsoft, Facebook and Tesla. Innovations was an idea I had in mind. So I started this company from my own house and I eventually built this up from scratch as you see it today." Jack explains.
"That's quite a story sir."
"It is. I mean it's quite a niche market here, I sell to most people around the world who can afford these quality prices."
"What's your main products you produce and sell as goods?"
"Well weapons, tools are our most expensive goods to purchase, but we mostly deal with henchman."
"Henchman?... What do you mean by that? You sell like.. people? Human Trafficking?" Paul says a bit concerned.
"Human Trafficking is an ugly word. We use the term experienced people who can defend a person who hires them. Bodyguards for hire per say." Jack says sugar-coating his words.
"Wait. Pause for a sec Mr Hench... I'm a bit confused. Don't you sell contracts to the military, army or navy? You did say weapons and tools. Right?" Paul says.
"Indeed I did."
"Well y-you must be involved with the government to provide their fire arms for their defence lines. Like the Police, Military, Army, Navy... Air Force even. H-how do you come across saying you sell henchman when you don't even have a government contract?"
"Now look son-"
"I'm not your son." Paul interrupts him.
"Well... See it as this way. In life, opportunities aren't given to you unless you're born with them. I had to work my way up. I gave opportunities to them, and they didn't want in on this lifetime opportunity. So they refuse to do anything with me."
"So they don't want anything involving you?"
"That's right."
Paul had to be careful what he would say next. But he wasn't interested in being careful. He wanted to hear what he had to say about all of this.
"They... Hate you? Don't they?" Paul asks.
"Hate me? More like loath me. Now I'm a businessman, that has a company who can provide weapons to these armed forces. Make our country. America 'Home the Brave' great again! So I decided to go to a certain market where people are looking for bodyguards and people to protect and serve." Jack explains.
"So what clientele do you attract exactly?"
"Why criminals of course."
Paul freezes when he hears that."
"...You... Supply...Criminals... The same people who steal, rob, kill and the scum of the Earth! The ones that break laws against the state. Violating the rules were we sit in this very world!" Paul says getting angry.
"No one steals from me." Jack simply says.
'He only got the word steal from that conversation!' Paul says internally shocked.
"It's a business. What do you except? Nothing in life is for free." Jack says.
"Then... Why do you do it?"
"Well money doesn't grow on trees you know?"
"I'm not talking about that! Why criminals? You can easily get people to hire bodyguards under a rate an hour and sell weapons to licenced people. Background checks are important to prevent endangering lives."
"But that's nothing compared to what I have now." Jack says as he gets up from his desk. "I wanna maximise my profits, not making above average salaries. They are the kind of people willing to spend hundreds and thousands on weapons and henchman in my company. I get thousands of clients, as long as they spend their money here, I'm not complaining." Jack says.
"But isn't that against the law?" Paul claims.
"Then why do I have a licence vendor to sell all of this? The government didn't want to play ball. They can't stop this growing enterprise. The competition is a cinch. We created and innovated products that government bodies will never achieve in their lifetime, maybe a generation if they're lucky within their labs. Even if they work undercover here, they still won't get close to the technology we have. You understand kid? This is the business world. Maybe one day you'll grow up and learn a thing or two about business. Trust me kid." Jack says taking back his seat.
Paul was speechless in all of this. This guy legit chewed him up and spat him out.
"Now if you have any other dense questions, I'm afraid I need to ask you to please leave my office in a quiet manner." Jack grabs a pen and starts writing, as if he was continuing his work.
Paul was still lost for words right now. He wanted to thing that this was a movie scene, but this was dead set real.
Jack continues to write as he speaks without looking up at the teen.
"That was a nice way of me saying 'Get the fuck out of my office'." Jack says now being serious.
Paul was on his chair shaking his head slowly and had a frown on his face with an expression like, 'Is he freaking serious now'.
The pen movement stops as Jack looks up at him.
"Now."
Paul was still trying to process all of this as he shifts his tablet in his bag. He stood up for his seat and exited his office quietly.
He walks through the hallway, feeling like his head was spinning and the walls were closing in after what he heard from Jack. As he heads towards where the reception is, he stops as he notices a photo of someone. He walks backwards and looks back to the photo and notices a familiar face, who had a gold frame on his photograph...
..
.
Professor Dementor...
Paul was on the train going back to Middleton. He had his head on his fist and he watches the view of the afternoon sky passing by.
He couldn't believe that Hench Co was a company which basically supported the evil community around the world! He felt like such an idiot for even going there in the first place and even discussing about what he's company provided.
Mr Hench even had the audacity to say he was basically providing a service for the communities.
The Evil Community!
What did you think? His doing the world a favour?
Maybe he's even donating to evil charities.
Is that even a thing!
Why didn't he researched the company in the first place, He thought. In all honesty, the company's information was very limited.
He really didn't feel like doing this for his English Project on Hench Co at all after that.
This guy... Was now a threat. Something that Team Possible should deal with. But he starts to think that their team won't be able to handle a Multi Million, or potentially Billion! Dollar company. They would have to call for reinforcements.
He thought Senor Senior Senior was bad... This guy was way worse... Okay Senor Senior Senior stole the Queens Crown Jewels. That's bad. But this could be on a different spectrum!
Another sick fuck with a ton of money.
God what's wrong with this world... A lot... A lot.
Paul had gotten back to Middleton and went straight to Kim's house. He decided to walk there instead of using the bus. After greeting Ann, he went straight to Kim's room.
'KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOC'
"Tweeb- Oh Paul." Kim was quite surprised to see her friend.
"Hey Kim." Paul looked a bit rugged.
"Hi... Err Come in. You alright?" Kim asks concerned about his tired look.
"Ooh I'm peachy. Just spent the afternoon with a major CEO of the company I'm researching."
"The company interview. That was today! How did that go?" Kim asks.
"For the first 3 minutes or so...Good. Maybe the man is a mob boss or a gangster." Paul says talking. Kim thought he was speaking no sense.
"I'm sorry?" Kim asks confused.
"Or maybe not, because I would have seen some bodies on the floor or a bad smell coming from the walls."
"Paul!... What happened? You're acting strange." Kim says.
"Kim, this wasn't an ordinary company... It's owned by a guy that develops weapons for criminals!"
"What! Are you kidding me?" Kim says shocked.
"No!"
"Oh my god!" Kim says shocked.
"Ahhhhhh! I shook the guys hand! I feel so dirty! I need to isolate my hand for a week!" Paul says. He was being a bit over dramatic about this
"The guy. Jack... Was telling me about his rise from nothing. He tried to get the governments to look at his company, but they all rejected him and they all hate him. Now he sells his products to villains across the globe! I even saw photos of them. Even I saw Dementor's face! It was like the hall of fame! For villains." Paul explained. When he said 'Jack', he said it in the most sour tone possible.
"W-wha- We have to take them down! This guy's a problem. I'll get Wade to organise-" Kim pulled out her device, but instantly Paul covered it and cupped it gently with Kim's hands on it.
"Kim Kim. Hang on... This problem is too big for us to handle ourselves!" Paul says, "I've been thinking about it on the ride home. This guy has got nothing to lose. We need to report this to GJ and warn them about this guy. A-and in your current state? Sorry Kim, but I won't allow it." Paul says covering Kim's device.
Kim bit her lip, he had a point. By miraculously fluke he found this. And if he says it's too big of a problem. He means it's too big to handle. Plus she's carrying an injury. He really cared about her wellbeing.
"You're right. We can't just stop this enterprise by ourselves. Maybe Dr Director can do something to stop him."
"Yeah. Yeah. Might take some time, but she's an expert. She'll tackle this head on. She's got details about everyone... Over 18 years old." Paul says starting to calm down, he takes a deep breathe.
"That's good. You need to learn to stay calm down about this. We got this guy. He won't be doing anything." Kim says with a soothing tone, she had her hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
"Right...You know I'm starting to feel better already." Paul says as he looks back down to the ground.
"Don't get too excited now, we have a snow trip this week for school."
Paul's face lights up and looks back at her.
"Did you just say.. Snow?" Paul said all excited now.
