Chapter 2: Review
We took a brief look at the present situation of Hinantsu Nanase, so let's take a gander at the past to further understand his character..
Despite without a doubt currently being a real piece of work, Hinantsu wasn't always like that. His being became much more twisted by his 2nd year in Shinetsu Junior High, an elite JHS, known as one of the best academic schools in the region for the junior high-level. But let's start this roll back from the very start.
Born on May 7th, Hinantsu Nanase was born to a loving mother and father. They were very well off, so Hinantsu ate well, grew a bit big, but he was living the life, indeed. He became a bit spoiled, but at the time that was no issue at all. His early life before entering elementary was filled with good memories. He was a tad overweight, but it was fine, after all, he was rich and had rich friends, who were just like him.
Life was easy for Hinantsu, so the time to enter school came fast. Hinantsu was entered into many high-class over-the-top schools to prep for his future, but he just couldn't keep up. He wasn't at the level of his peers, therefore, they had to settle for a much worse public school, filled with people who Hinantsu saw at the time, as some new friends and such, however... reality was much harsher.
The kids there saw Hinantsu as a pig, a filthy rich pig who was stuck up and snobby, so wasting no time at all, bullying incidents began happening. From things as simple as younger kids just taking his things or calling him names, to some of the older kids getting physical with him. He was tired of it all, so he tried to do what he knew best. He tried to gain friends using his money, but it only ended worst. He was being leveraged for money, and if he didn't oblige, these so called friends, would turn their backs on him without a second thought.
This continued for a while, even some girls tried to get close to him, Hinantsu being not much wiser at all, was oblivious to their intentions, thinking he had become popular or something. Hinantsu one day had returned from school crying. He had foolishly thought one of the girls hanging around with him at this point, from his 1st year up to his 5th was actually his friend, and tried to ask her out. Very ballsy, but from a rich kid who was extremely spoilt, something like that isn't completely unordinary. He was met with being thrashed with insults and was talked down insanely because of it. Some rumors had quickly spread, and now people were thinking this girl he asked out, Murasaki Sorachi, was using him as a personal wallet.
Soon enough after her brutally turning down Hinantsu, she came back to him not too long afterwards, apologizing and being much more kind than the tone she used to shut him down, then continuing on: "Can we go to the mall together sometime?" Hinantsu at the time was an idiot, but he did have a string of common sense. Being used like that after she went so far, hurling insults at him. To say the least, Hinantsu lashed out, but went a bit too far, even ending up insulting her, but at the time, he wasn't worried about it.
This event lead to the increased violence that would eventually lead to conflict. Murasaki Sorachi's brother, Makabe Sorachi who was in his 6th and final year at the elementary, gathered up his friends, and began a string of bullying, continued bullying that would lead to Hinantsu growing very depressed, barely being able to even leave his house without getting harassed, or anything of the sort due to Murasaki's fake story about the terrible things he had said to her. His parents did nothing but worsen the situation once informed, attempting to bribe the school into removing the bullies, his situation only got worse as the authorities at the school turned their backs on him, and he has effectively given in, and was forced to be paying his bullies insane amounts of cash daily. He had become depressed, and grown insanely overweight. His 6th year had come with him being an extremely low-performing student, who ran the risk of being expelled if his grades didn't improve. This led to his parents basically funding a PTA war, blatantly bribing a bunch of people until they made situational exceptions, which of course included Hinantsu. At this point, everyone knew about his situation, and by 6th grade, he wasn't just a wallet, he was an outcast at this point too. His being bullied grew worse, but Hinantsu's academics shaped up, deciding to instead study hard to hopefully be able to start anew.
Eventually, his grades were looking good, and he graduated just fine, despite his pitiful standing among the class, no the school. He was able to both afford and meet the criteria to apply to Shinetsu Junior High School, a prestigious top high school, which he was sure would have absolutely no one from those trashy public schools... right?
He was wrong. The two biggest contributors to his school life's never-ending problems were there. The Sorachi Siblings. And despite Hinantsu's goal to not be toyed with this time around, his lingering past was still there, causing him to quickly be put at a low standing, due to always giving the siblings money, and carrying out their tasks, in exchange for them leaving him alone. That surely didn't work. But this time around, he was wiser. He began to make friends, and he was starting to live a stable life. But eventually, he was in an awkward situation. A confession from one of his close friends, Saeko Matsushita. She asked him out, which Hinantsu foolishly jumped at. "You know, I've liked you too for a little bit.. maybe we could start going ou-" He was saying before being interrupted by a male voice, who had burst out laughing. Makabe Sorachi. He was recording, and laughing like crazy. He could already tell what was going on. He immediately left the room, walking away legitimately saddened, not about the confession, but that his days of peace and having friends would soon be over.
The next day, he found himself on the side of degrading comments and disgusted glances, his own so-called friends avoided him. Soon enough, Matsushita approached him, apologizing for the situation saying ridiculous things such as "It was a dare" and such, and continuing on.. saying "Can we go to the mall together sometime?" at this point it wasn't just de ja vu, he legit felt like sobbing as he heard some snickers from all around. He gave up. He had left the school out "sick" and didn't return to school until it was already summer time of the next year, how did he do so you ask? Money.
He decided to join a club, looking much different from how he did just a year ago in his pitiful state. He decided during his leave of absence, that he was going to ensure he would never be bullied or toyed with again, and while his physical health improved drastically as he now bore a well-toned body with no excessive fats, his mental health had gone beyond repair, as we was extremely short tempered and now very impulsive. He quickly re-established himself, with a very fucked up new mental state. People bickered over what happened, but eventually, he got what he wanted. Makabe Sorachi, who as well as his sister, had been avoiding Hinantsu, was now cornered by Hinantsu and his little "goons". Which he had established with some mild violence, and a benevolence of money. Hinantsu wasted no time, getting personal. "Makabe Sorachi, good to see you." He spoke. The rather afraid brunette responded "Good to see you to-" but was cut off. "Is it good to see me? I get the feeling you've been ducking me." He spoke, inching closer to the now timid boy. Before Makabe could speak, he was cut off. "You know, if you have something.. or someone bothering you, you should say it. Back then you would've addressed it 'directly' right?" Makabe knew his situation, and decided the best thing to do was simple.
He was booking it for the heavens.. but he didn't make it far. You could hear a swoosh and the sounds of liquids dripping. Hinantsu's former bully was now bleeding excessively from the nose. Due to the fact that I didn't put up a violence warning, I will give a brief description of the following events.
Hinantsu had gone mad. He was torturing everyone who he felt like caused his former depression. Blackmailed and extorted Murasaki despite her poor family, Continually beating and excessively degrading Makabe, in the case of Saeko Matsushita, he went seemingly the furthest, finding dirt on her father and extorting them till they were dirt poor, using leverage against Saeko, practically selling off her body to some more than eager Senior High School Students, fully willing to partake and ruthlessly bullying her till she eventually committed suicide. The matter was covered up by Hinantsu's parents, but this was just a small step in his madness.
