Chapter 2, A Guardian In School?!
Kingdom of Ingrassia, Four Hours After Arriving In The New World
He sat on a green couch in a large room. It was an office, there was a table in front of him and on the other side of the table was another green couch.
No one sat on it he was alone in the room.
While he did get to know more about this world and how he got here from Shizue and her Student Hinata it was still too much to take in.
His Ghost Aria hasn't materialized yet on his orders luckily though the pain from a few hours ago was gone.
He felt much better but his whole body did feel sore. When he asked why Shizue and Hinata were there when he arrived since it was a little suspicious. Apparently the two were taking on a quest to eliminate monsters inside a mining cave so miners could continue their work and they felt his presence once he arrived.
Two wooden doors a few feet behind the couch he sat on opened, revealing the two people who rescued him Shizue and Hinata.
They walked around his couch and sat on the couch in front of him.
"Forgive me, I had to speak with someone about you." Shizue lowered her head a little, he stayed silent.
"Um.. may I ask you to remove your hood and helmet." Shizue asked him. He obeyed and removed the hood of his cloak, then removing his black helmet revealing his face. They saw his face, the face of a young man mid 20's with short straight black hair styled in undercut curtain along with black eyes. "Say.." Shizue examined his appearance.
"How old are you?" she leaned closer and asked. He looked down not knowing how to answer.
"Don't tell me you don't know your age." This time Hinata spoke, "I-I don't know.. Guardians are resurrected humans with no memory of our past life." The two stayed silent from his words what kind of earth was he from?!
"Let's just assume your.. Twenty. Judging from your appearance you also don't look Japanese, you look more like an English man.." Hinata said while crossing her arms.
Shizue was a little taken back from the assumption of him being English men.. she wondered how Hinata knew. "I'm also a little confused on how you can understand us and how we can understand you." Hinata added on and leaned back on couch to relax.
That was something he didn't understand himself either.
"Now for your name.. Guardian.. Guardian. Hm.. we can't do that." Shizue finally removed her mask and placed it on the table in front of them where his helmet laid.
"What about Sivert? I heard from a colleague that it means Guardian of Victory. " Shizue asked him, the two women studied his face for some sort of reaction.
"I'll take it." he only gave a gentle warming smile. "For a family name.. that is something you will have to decide yourself." Shizue pointed at him, the now named Sivert only nodded.
"You said you were a warrior is that what you plan on becoming here also?"
Sivert didn't know how to respond to that question either. He wanted to find a way back! But if these two said there wasn't... "Possibly.." he answered Shizue's question with slight pain in his voice.
Shizue sighed, "Very well. Welcome to Adventure Cooperation Union, I will serve as you instructor from now on you are under my care Sivert."
She said with smile on her face. "Thank you.." he decided to do something he learned from Shizue a few hours ago. Slightly bow, Sivert only did this because he thought it was some way of expressing your thanks in their culture.
The hunter only earned a weird look from the two.
"Now the guns." He looked up at Shizue after hearing the word 'guns'. That's right.. if there was one thing Sivert noticed. It was that no one here had a single gun! When he waited in that ridiculously long line to enter this 'Kingdom' most of the people either had swords or bows.
"If you are to keep those weapons.." she pointed at the Adored Sniper Rifle that sat on his back. "You must promise me you'll keep them out of the hands of anyone else if you are to keep them." This time Shizue gave him a serious glare, it honestly scared him..
"I will." He said, it still didn't seem to change the serious expression she gave him. "I promise." He said again but also bowed.
"Thank you." The serious expression was gone and was replaced with the same gentle smile from earlier. "That doesn't mean I won't teach you how to wield a sword. You're bound to run out of ammunition soon am I right?" Shizue asked him.
Sivert checked the pouches on his belt along with his pockets. He was still good on ammunition for his Ace of Spades, but he only had a few mags for his sniper rifle. "A little.." He finally answered.
"Then you better learn how to wield a sword properly if you want to save that ammunition." Shizue had a point.
While Sivert didn't use a sword a lot because he was mostly a marksman and preferred to keep away from close contact. It would come in handy with saving ammo.
"I will try." That was good enough for Shizue. "Good. I hope we get to know more about you Sivert." Shizue stood up from her seat and held out her hand towards him. Sivert stood up and took it, they shook hands.
Unknown to Sivert and his Ghost, today would mark a new journey for them both.
A Few Hours Later
Sivert was given a small room within a large building.
It was the academy Shizue talked about, apparently she instructs otherworlders and adventurers.
Sivert also met another student of hers Yuki he seemed like a nice young man but he was too interested in Sivert's weapons… As it did seem to be going well there was a small issue.. the issue being the large amount of books Shizue handed him.
Luckily it was handled. She told him to study for a test tomorrow but.. he couldn't read any of these!
So he had Aria materialize while everyone was asleep in their own rooms so she could help him. She seemed to have a little trouble herself but after an hour she's gotten used to it.
Currently she's helping him, Aria swore this would take years for a normal person.. but if there's one thing she knows about her guardian.
He's a quick learner and he's already proving it by writing down words and sentences with a pencil.
This is the first time Aria's seen him write something. His handwriting is surprisingly Neat for someone who just started writing a new language.
As the two studied, Aria had one question in mind that's been bothering her. So she decided to ask her Guardian. "Hey.. do you think it's fine if I materialize in front of Shizue and the others?" she suddenly asked him.
Sivert stopped writing and took a deep breath. "Not yet.. I still have yet to fully trust them." He turned his head slightly to the right to meet her blue glowing eye.
"Shizue seems nice, I mean that Hinata girl may give a nasty cold glare but the Yuki guy seems nice as well." Aria floated closer to him, "I know.. don't worry though, soon I will introduce you." Sivert gave her a reassuring smile. Aria didn't respond and only stayed silent she floated back over to the large open book and continued reading. Sivert went back to writing.
There was a ton of information to learn and know for two reasons. One being it was Shizue's instructions while the other was his own goal. He wanted to learn everything there is about this new world. Hell, Sivert swore he was slowly becoming a Warlock with their books and stuff.
He just hoped it wouldn't come true.
After a night with no sleep and only studying Sivert believed he was ready for whatever test Shizue was going to give him. He currently laid on his bed with his armor on, he was caressing his Hand Cannon, the gun that once belonged to a good friend of his... He decided he'd only bring this out and hide his Adored.
There was a knock on the door to his room. "Sivert are you awake? It's time." Before he could answer, His door slightly opened.. He swore he locked it. "Oh you are awake." Shizue who was peeking through the crack, smiling gently at him.
Then she noticed something..
His bed, it was still the same as when she gave him this room.
He hasn't slept!
"Don't tell me you stayed up all night." She opened it all the way and asked in disbelief.
"I did." Sivert responded with a straight face.
He sat up and holstered his Ace.
"You did?!" Shizue shouted most likely waking everyone in the area up.
Sivert got off his bed. "Yes, I studied like you told me to and wrote sentences." He walked over to the small wooden table in the corner of his room. He grabbed a stack of papers that laid on it and handed it to Shizue. She took it and read the contents.
"This.." Shizue's shocked expression vanished, turning into a surprised one. "I hope you can read it good. It's a small story about me." Sivert said with a small smile on his face. Shizue didn't believe it.. it took her at least a year to begin reading and writing!
It took Hinata and Yuki months! He easily surpassed them! "Heh.." Shizue began sweating.. all those tests she had planned for Sivert to get caught up with Yuki and Hinata all vanished.
There was no point if he could already write like this! "Well.. I'm amazed and proud but." Catching the hunter off guard she smacked his head with the stack of papers.
"You need rest!" she shouted angrily at him. Where did the kind and gentle version of her go?! "I understand." Sivert rubbed his head with his right hand.
That really hurt!
"Good, now let's go." She turned around and walked out his room.
He quickly grabbed his helmet before closing the door to his room and following. He carried his helmet under his left arm, while he didn't mind if people saw his face it just felt right to keep it with him even if he wasn't going to put it on. They walked past several rooms in a long hallway. The two passed other people they were most likely adventurers.
Finally Shizue stopped and opened a wooden door to a room and entered, Sivert followed her inside.
It seemed to be a classroom since there were many desks in the rooms.
The only other people in the room were Hinata and Yuki, Hinata stared at the green board on the wall in front of the desks while Yuki waved at him.
Sivert waved back, Yuki then pointed at the desk next to him. Obviously asking Sivert to sit next to him, out of kindness Sivert listened and walked over to the young man to sit next to him.
He placed his helmet on the desk and sat down. "Now were all here." Shizue stood in front of a wooden stand that faced them. "Lucky for us it seems we can continue on with our topics from yesterday since Sivert here managed to write a story about himself." Shizue placed the stack of papers on the stand.
"Really? How'd you do it? I'm still having slight trouble with the pronouns." Yuki leaned closer to him and asked. Sivert didn't know how to answer since he didn't want to expose Aria.
Luckily..
"Yuki, I'm sure it's obvious, it's because Sivert is a warrior with a lot of experience which also means he's a quick learner. He might surpass you both." Shizue said teasingly to get her students excited, only it backfired. Hinata stopped staring at the board and turned to glare at Sivert making him sweat a little.
"Now let us begin class." Shizue cleared her throat and began teaching. Sivert learned a lot that day more then he learned from the books. He learned about the powerful individuals the 'Demon Lords' who terrorized over humanity along with the various different races of the world. If anything it just felt like being a newly risen Guardian.
Learning about the history and alien races, especially the 'magic'. That sounded like a bunch of warlock bluff until he saw his teacher ignite a flame in her hand. Sivert made sure he'd study this 'magic' later on just in case he ever lost his Light.
A few hours of learning and more writing went, now it was time for a combat test.
Luckily for Sivert, Hinata and Yuki were also still learning with wooden swords like he was.. It saved him from the embarrassment, to be honest the Young wolf had no idea how to react to this.
At first he thought it was a joke until Shizue smacked his head with it. She was really mean..
They were learning forms outside the academy. Shizue would test each one of them individually after a few minutes of practicing, if they can last before time runs out on the hourglass then they win. Sivert watched as Yuki faced his teacher, the young man put up a good fight but sadly lost when Shizue made him yield.
Next was Hinata who put up an even greater fight even breaking her wooden sword and Shizue's which made it a draw.
Now it was time for him to go against his teacher. He still felt as if it was too early but it wasn't until Sivert remembered he was a guardian.
He's faced worst before if anything Shizue didn't compare close to anything he fought.
However.. his body was still extremely sore. It's as if he was still getting accustomed to this world.
So he wasn't at his full potential.
So quickly thinking he pulled out his gun and aimed it Shizue. "Not allowed!" she shouted angrily at him, soon there'd be a time when he can't use the gun. So the Flame Conqueror wants to make sure he can use a sword or any melee weapon of sort.
Sivert quietly pouted under his helmet and holstered the Ace. He held the wooden sword tightly in his hand and got into a stance that Shizue taught him.
Shizue pointed her wooden sword at him, "Begin!" she yelled. Sivert charged at Shizue and began swinging his wooden sword using the forms she taught him. His teacher blocked a few but stopped after feeling the power in his attacks.. So she put some distance between them to come up with a strategy.
Of course Sivert wasn't going to let her so he chased after her using his speed.
"He's Fast.." Shizue mumbled quietly under her mask. Where was this speed coming from?! If she was going to win she had to get a little serious.
"!"
Sivert swung his wooden sword only for Shizue to quickly avoid it using speed he's never seen before.
Shizue kicked him in the abdomen sending him a few feet back, which it really didn't hurt surprisingly. He expected it to, maybe it was due to his armor?
Shizue swung her wooden sword at high speeds making Sivert slightly panic. He was barely avoiding them, hell barely blocking them! Then it wasn't until he realized Shizue had him cornered.
He took a glance at the large brick wall of the academy behind him. There was no avoiding this next attack! It would surely hurt!
Or at least how Shizue thought.
Sivert however is hunter!
Meaning he can triple jump, assuming he still has the light..
Sivert focused on Shizue and waited for the right time. She aimed her wooden sword at him, "Your cornered." She told him. He stayed silent only preparing, since Sivert didn't look like he was going to yield Shizue decided to finish this and she charged at him.
"Wha-" She stopped herself just in time before her wooden sword could crash into the brick wall.
Sivert quickly climbed the brick wall, leaped from it, and hopped in the air?! Twice in fact!
He landed safely away from Shizue. She turned around to face him. "Heh.." Shizue couldn't believe she forgot.. Sivert was a warrior before, meaning he had some tricks up his sleeve.
She had to be cautious. "Times up." Yuki told the two. "Huh?" Shizue looked at the hourglass on the wooden log next to Yuki. Time went by fast!
"I'm afraid I lost.." Shizue dropped her wooden sword. Sivert mentally cheered, "Ow!" he caught off guard by Shizue who smacked his helmet with her hand, when did she appear in front of him!? "Don't think you beat me officially. Just wait until we start training with real swords, I'll make sure you know your place."
Shizue glared angrily at him, despite being a nice women Shizue was very strict with her students. "I understand." Sivert bowed, "Congratulations though." The glare was replaced with a smile. "Let's eat lunch."
End!
