Chapter 4, The Founding of The Free Guild and an Upgrade
Six months have gone by, Sivert was starting to get more accustomed to this world. Despite getting brutally trained by Shizue, life was amazing. Whenever he was free, Sivert would take on small jobs usually to take out large monsters or gangs of bandits.
He was building a reputation and thanks to that Reputation he is able to help Yuki along with Shizue to reorganize the Adventurer organization into the Free Guild.
Sivert believed that this guild was a perfect thing for adventurers. The ranking system that Yuki invented would be much more effective than the last one, it would for sure lessen the death rate of adventurers.
Currently Shizue and Sivert with Hinata waited outside the building of the Western Nations Council. They hoped that the council would permit the founding of this Guild and support it financially. If so then It would be great success, "Do you think it'll work?" Hinata asked breaking the quietness between the three.
It was a surprise when Hinata would start a conversation. She was mostly quiet and distant unless she was with Shizue. "I hope it does." Shizue answered her question.
The two conversed while Sivert observed the crowds of citizens, it was much large then the Last city.. Sivert missed that place, he's still connected to the light so hopefully it means nothing has happened to the Traveler and the city.
He couldn't help but reach in his back pocket and pull out an Iron Banner Coin that Lord Saladin gave him a long time ago.
It was rusty.. he mentally cursed himself for not taking care of it. The coin was one of the only things he has to remind him of who he is. A Guardian..
Sivert placed the coin back in his pocket. "Look." Shizue tapped on his shoulder with her hand and pointed at a large set of white stairs that led up to the Council of the West Building.
It was Yuki walking down with a set of papers in his hands. The three walked over to the young man. He waved at them and they waved back. "So?" Shizue crossed her arms and asked. Yuki smiled and showed the three the papers. "Look who's the Grand Master." He said.
"Congratulations!" the three said in unison. "Wait.. what's this." Shizue grabbed a piece of paper from the pile in his arms. "I managed to also form the Freedom Academy. For otherworlders and humans to receive education!" Shizue's eyes widened. "Yuki!" Shizue hugged the young man out of joy!
The four laughed and cheered. Later on they would cheer and drink until the location for the Guild was set.
Finally after a week Yuki received a notice from the Council about the Building. The four immediately headed to see it, the building was a large gaudy building with glass doors and windows. It reminded Sivert of the buildings in the last city.
Apparently since no one was able to afford it the Council of the West bought it for Yuki and his guild. This would prove useful!
"Now! Sivert, let's go test your rank." The new Grandmaster grabbed the hunter's hand. "Huh? Wait.. don't you need employees?" sadly his protest proved insufficient against Yuki's dragging.
"I already have them. See." The two walked through the glass doors that led inside. Yuki pointed at attendants at the front counters. "I had it all planned like I told you." Yuki softly punched his arm and continued to drag the Hunter through the building with Shizue and Hinata in tow.
Surprisingly the building was already packed with adventurers who are here to register and test their rank. "Move out the way! He is testing first!" Yuki shouted at all the adventurers crowded in the large gymnasium. His shouting was received with a few protest and complaints such as 'unfair' or 'bullshit'.
"What exactly am I doing this for..?" Sivert asked Yuki who finally stopped dragging him.
"Remember? You said you wanted to help humanity. This is the way, you'll become a hero!" Yuki said excitingly. Sivert received many glares from the other adventurers after they heard that.
He felt sort of uncomfortable now.. "Now, let's begin the test!" Yuki walked away into the crowd next to Shizue and Hinata.
Sivert looked around he was in a magic circle probably to keep the crowd safe, but.. who was his opponent? Finally a middle aged brown haired women wearing grey robes walked out from the crowd she had a staff so she was most likely a mage.
"We will now begin the E-Rank Exam." The lady tapped her staff on the ground. "Show me that you can defeat this monster without stepping out the circle." Sivert was confused, what monster?
Then suddenly a magic symbol appeared on the ground. It was summoning magic, the first time he's seen it before!
"Come! Hound Dog!" The Lady Shouted, a black dog sprung from the magic symbol and towards Sivert to attack him. The Hunter casually pulled out a small knife He threw the knife at the charging dog, the knife stabbed right into the head killing the dog instantly.
The Crowd was mind blown which didn't make sense..
It was a dog..
It even felt like killing a smaller Cabal War beast. "I see.." The lady chuckled.
"Come! Dark Ogre!" the magic circle on the ground glowed and out sprung a dark tall humanoid figure with black armor and horns.
It carried a large sword. Now for Sivert, this felt like fighting a large Hive Knight. "Ah.." Sivert pouted under his helmet.
He didn't have his rapier on him.. He did have his Ace though! He pulled it out of its holster and aimed it at the large ogre. He fired a shot at the head of the beast only for it to be blocked by a shield the ogre carried.
"No Guns!" He heard Shizue shout from the crowd. He nodded and holstered it.
How would he kill this thing.. he couldn't use guns. "Woah.." Sivert easily avoided the large sword of the ogre. He ducked and dodged as he wondered what to do.
"The light should work..." He hasn't used it much only when training with Shizue. Since Sivert wasn't good with anything else besides a little fire magic.
He triple jumped into the air surprising the crowd. Suddenly flames enveloped the hunter three flaming knives appeared in both his hands.
He spun around once while throwing the knives at the large monster. It raised its shield but it proved insufficient against the powerful explosive knives. The monster was burned to ashes by the exploding knives.
"Wha-" The female mage was shocked! "Haha!" Yuki cheered with others following in suit. The mage cleared her throat.
"Grand Master! I request to perform a A- Exam! This tryout is powerful and I believe it'd be a waste of time for him to do the other exams!" the mage shouted at Yuki. The cheering stopped, the room went silent. Sivert was going to skip ranks?!
"Feel free!" Yuki smiled at the mage and gave her a thumbs up. "Wait don't I have to do a B- first or C..?" Sivert asked hoping to stop this. "It would give the Guild a bad look right?"
Sadly his question and protest were ignored.
The mage tapped her staff on the ground once again. "I won't blame you for running once you see this guy!" the mage told Sivert. He stayed silent preparing for what this lady had for him.
"Come! Greater Demon!" another humanoid figure with red eyes and a large black sword with giant horns appeared from the circle.
"Hey! Yuki!" Shizue grabbed his arm and turned him around. "Stop them! Sivert can't beat a Greater Demon!" Shizue shouted at the young man. Yuki only stayed silent, focusing on the battle. "Tch." Shizue grabbed the grip of her sword and prepared to head out only for Yuki to grab her arm. "If you interfere. It'll ruin Sivert's image among the people. His chance to grow." He pointed at the spectating adventurers watching in awe.
Shizue didn't care though! "He'll die!" Yuki shook his head, denying her claim.
"That mage made a contract with the demon. It won't kill him, so don't worry. If anything I'll step in to help if he looks like he's going to die." Finally Shizue reluctantly agreed.
She stepped back and watched her student fight the demon.
Sivert rolled away from it's attacks, for it's large size it was fast! The Hunter didn't know what to do! He threw knives engulfed in solar light but they seemed to only go through the thing! He was confused!
Then.. he remembered something, a Demon is a spiritual lifeform meaning physical attacks won't work unless they have a body.
"Damnit." Sivert whispered under his helmet, having enough the Demon grabbed Sivert by his legs and lifted the Hunter who was struggling to release the Beasts grip on his legs.
It slammed him on the ground and threw him up against the ceiling.
Sivert felt a few bones break! He quickly activated Self Regeneration, the skill did It's job and healed his broken bones.
Sivert landed safely on his feet and rolled away from the Demon's large sword that almost split him in half.
"Alright then you shit.." He whispered in annoyance underneath his helmet.
He would defeat this thing..
Even if it meant pushing past his limits!
{Confirmed. The Human evolution is complete, evolving from Human to Enlighted.}
The Hunter slightly titled his head in confusion.
Did he just evolve?
No..
it Doesn't work like that though.
Right?
The Hunter had no idea how to comprehend this but he'd figure out later.
Right now he had to kill a demon.
Sivert stood still and looked up at the large Demon, it towered over him like the many beasts he defeated before.
This was nothing compared to them.. the Demon raised it's large sword and swung it down on Sivert who only stepped aside as the sword crashed down next to him. The crowd was shocked!
The Demon reached down and grabbed Sivert lifting him up. It laughed at the puny human in its hands.
Once again Sivert didn't resist, "What Is he doing?!" adventurers asked each other.
The Demon slammed Sivert on the ground, and raised it's sword. It swung the sword down, the spectators had many thoughts such as 'He was done for!' 'He was dead!'.
"!?" The Demon felt a cold breeze brush past it's arms.
It's large sword turned into Ice? The crowd was once again shocked! Underneath the frozen sword was Sivert, his hand on the blade.
He crushed the ice sword with his bare hands! It shattered into millions of pieces and the Demon walked back out of surprise. What was this coldness?! Not only was the demon was feeling it, the adventurers spectating were also feeling it.
Wasn't there a magic circle around the two to keep the adventurers safe?! "Fire magic hurry!" they shouted at each other. They began warming each other with their magic. "Woah.." Yuki chuckled and hugged himself. What was this?
"Look." An adventurer pointed at Sivert's hands. In his hands were two Ice Kamas, the demon didn't care though! It raised both it's fist ready to slam them on the human that broke it's weapon.
Sivert threw one of the Kamas at the Demon, he hoped it wouldn't go through like his knives engulfed in Light! "?!" the Kama shattered on the Demon's hands freezing them both. Sivert smiled underneath his helmet. It worked! Stasis worked!
He threw the other Stasis Kama at the Demon's torso.
It shattered on impact and formed a small storm that enveloped the Demon. Slowly it's spiritual body was turning to Ice, it roared in pain until finally it was frozen in place. The crowd was shocked! Amazed! What was this power?! Sivert raised one hand, a stasis shuriken formed in it.
He threw the shuriken at the Frozen Demon shattering the Demon into a million pieces, sending it back to the Spiritual Realm.
The room went silent, Sivert turned to look at the Mage. She was mind blown but also a little tired.. that Demon asked for a little too much magicules. And she didn't quite draw enough from the area to give him..
"Congratulations.." the Mage said before collapsing out exhaustion.
Sivert nodded and looked down at himself.
His armor was a little damaged but he'd fix it what he was most focused about Is the amount of strength he's feeling right now! He felt much more stronger, he swore he could go head to head with a Titan right now!
"Good work." He turned around to face Shizue who smiled at him. She was proud! "I evolved." Sivert told her, Shizue's eyes widened.
"You did?! Amazing!" Shizue pulled her student in for a big hug. Squeezing the life out of him. "Let's hear it up for the Champion Sivert!" Yuki raised his fist and shouted.
The rest of the adventurers doing the same, the name Sivert The Hunter would soon spread out throughout the Western Nations and beyond. While he may have only defeated a mere Greater Demon, he will face much powerful foes in the future.
Only few coming close to what he's faced before.
End!
