PROLOGUE: PILOT

ANGEL GROOVE, 2001

Tommy Oliver crossed his arms, his face showed the discomfort of the situation and how frustrated he felt about what his best friend considered necessary. He didn´t see it like that, there was no reason for him to do this.

-I don´t get it. You don´t have to leave because there is a new villain in the city-said Tommy.

-I have to do this, Tommy. I can´t let anyone find him-said his friend-… if someone learns his lineage then he will become a target and I can´t allow that to happen.

-I understand that but…

-Tommy, I been a fucking Power Ranger. The Original Red fucking Ranger! –screamed Jason Lee Scott-… I know the dangers and after what the Rangers from the future told us over my son, I will do everything in my power to stop it!

Tommy sighed, letting his arms fall from his chest while he looked to the side, not far from them was a boy with a black t-shirt with a Red T-Rex and green pants with a Saber Tooth playing with his video game unaware of his lineage. Tommy closed his eyes, moving his head towards Jason, at least, the kid wasn´t paying attention to his father´s screams.

Tommy looked at Jason finish packing and looked at the door, maybe this will give them time to accept the truth but Tommy was sure that there was no way to escape destiny. Not if is meant for you.

-Future could be different-said Tommy-… look; there was a reason why Jen told us about this. She even told us, that she probably changed something by telling us what was going to happen.

-Zordon was under the impression we were destined to get our powers, even yours-said Jason-… Jen said the same and at least, if my son is destined to become what we are, I want him to have a normal childhood.

-And you´re doing that by leaving? –asked Tommy-… where are you going, anyway?

-Harwood County. My investor is begging me to open a new martial arts school there and I think is a good chance, besides, that way I don´t have to separate Jacob and his mother too much.

Tommy nodded, putting a hand on Jason´s shoulder as a symbol of support. Losing Jacob´s mother was hard on everyone, especially for Jason and Kimberly but they pull through, thanks to Jacob, mostly… that kid has his mother´s character, her gentle touch and her understanding deep in his eyes and he also had Jason´s temper and will to fight.

-Look, Jase, you are Jacob´s father and if this is the right choice for you then I support you-said Tommy-… but make sure to pay a visit from time to time and let me know when you move into your new house, you know we love the kid and… well, if he becomes a Ranger then there is no better than us to teach him all he needs to know.

-You think we can? –asked Jason, looking up… I mean, if it comes down to it… we can prepare Jacob?

-Of course, he will never be alone, Ranger or not, Jase-said Tommy, with a smile-… look at all the presents he has from other generations, Andros and Karone with their replica of DECA and the necklace from Mirinoi and Carter and Dana with the mini-lightspeed rescue badge. They love him, Jason.

-Yeah… Jen left a way to communicate with her if things got complicated too-admitted Jason.

-See? We are all here for him and it doesn´t matter if you change your name to lower your profile that will never change-said Tommy.

Jason nodded, looking at his best friend before he hugged Tommy, closing his eyes as he tried his best not to cry. Tommy was right, it didn´t matter what the future would bring to them because they were a family.

And family always stands together, no matter what.

REEFSIDE, 2007

Tommy hugged his godson and then, they walked inside the house. Jacob was still young but he was tall, making him look like he was 13 when he was only 10 but Tommy didn´t care, Jacob was strong and he had learned martial arts from him and Jason as preparation for his future.

It's been a long time without seeing him since Jacob wasn´t allowed to come to Reefside until Mesogog was defeated and still, Tommy had to beg Jason to allow the kid to come and spend the summer with him and the rest of his Dino-Rangers.

-Conner! Let me introduce you to Jacob Thomas Scott Kwan. Son of Jason Lee Scott and Trini Kwan, the original Red and Yellow Rangers-said Tommy, proudly-… and my godson. Jacob, this is Conner McKnight, the Red Dino Ranger.

-Wow! Like, dad!? –asked Jacob-… that´s impressive!

-Awesome is the word to describe me-said Conner, smiling-… is also a big honor.

Conner looked up and down at Jake a couple of times, already thinking and Tommy smiled. Conner had a good eye for choosing people for soccer and he seemed to have put his eye on Jake. He turned around and nodded to himself.

-Why are you looking at me like that? –asked Jacob, confused.

-You could be good at soccer… how old are you again? –asked Conner.

-I turned 10 last month-said, Jacob, still confused and looking at Tommy-… what´s soccer?

Conner froze his jaw on the ground while Tommy laughed. Jason was so protective that Jacob has been mostly studying or preparing to become a Ranger so he didn´t have a lot of experience in the real world.

Tommy´s second reason for Jacob to be here today.

Tommy sighed. Jason wanted a normal life for Jacob but with Jen´s warning, he became obsessed with training Jacob and keeps him out of the focus, hoping he could live in a bubble that, of course, was going to break at some point.

-Soccer is a sport, Jacob-said Tommy-… this is why I asked your father to let me bring you here this summer, your next lesson will be how to have a normal life before you go to high school.

Jacob nodded but Conner was still frozen when the door opened and Ethan James, Kira Ford, Trent Fernandez-Mercer, and Hayley walked into the house to see a very surprised Conner and a still confused and shy Jacob.

-Oh look, your boyfriend is broken-said Trent to Kira, pointing at Conner with a smile.

-What happened? –Asked Kira, walking towards Conner-… hey, jock boy, wake up.

-Did he see another front-page magazine with you in it, Kira? –asked Ethan.

Kira tried to wake up the young man while Jacob, worried for the man, walked towards him and grabbed his arm, gently, making Kira focus on him while she put her hands on Conner´s chest and smiled at the boy.

-You must be Jacob, right?

-Yes and he broke Conner because Jacob doesn´t know about soccer-explained Tommy, amused.

-For real!? –asked Ethan-… but even I know about soccer… I mean the basics but still…

-No wonders is broken-said Trent-… you probably broke his heart too, poor McKnight.

-Stop making fun of Conner-said Kira, amused before turning to her boyfriend-… babe, come on, wake up. Jacob, don´t worry about them, they are teasing you about Conner. I can assure you he will be fine.

-And he will want to teach you all about soccer when he wakes up-said Hayley, passing coffee to Tommy.

With her words, Conner seemed to wake up and finally notice his teammates. First of all, he gave a kiss to his girlfriend and smiled at her with a sweet smile, and then, he looked at Jacob and Kira moved to his side, so Conner could kneel in front of Jacob.

-I have a soccer ball; something special to me but if you want. I can share it with you and teach you a few tricks-said Conner-… I believe you have potential.

Jacob nodded, still unsure but determined to learn this new sport Conner seemed to love. He had the same animal his father had so what he did couldn´t be that bad, right?

-Basic first, coach-said Kira.

-Of course, babe. I will make sure he loves this sport by the end of the day.

Jacob looked at Tommy for confirmation and Tommy nodded, smiling because he knew the influence his Dino Team would have on Jacob and how important they are going to be for him to finally open up to the world.

-Kick his ass, kid! –said, Trent.

-And don´t call me babe! McKnight! –shouted Kira.

Tommy chuckled, yeah… Jacob is going to love them.

HARWOOD COUNTY, 2012

-Jake!

Jake, a 15-year-old kid now turned to see his friend and one of his mentors, Mike, walking towards him with Emily. He smiled, brightly. It was summer, so his best friend Noah was with his family so he was bored until he saw Mike. Because seeing Mike and Emily here could only mean that the Samurai Rangers won their battle.

Jake was so happy he ran and almost knocked out both Rangers but they hugged him back with the same excitement.

-It's over? For real? –asked Jake.

-For real-promised Mike-… we won and we can have our lives back. Kevin went back to swimming for the next Olympics. Antonio was going to relax a little and Mia was accepted into a cooking school…

-Oh, thank God-said Jake.

-Yeah-laughed Mike-. Lauren went to enjoy her free life and Jayden is stay with Mentor Ji at the Shiba house.

-I see… what about you two? –asked Jake.

Jake looked down at their joined hands and smiled, laughing when Mike looked away and Emily blushed. He was so happy that finally, Mike found someone to ground him, and no one better than the sweet but fierce Emily.

-Oh… so congratulations are in order? –asked Jake.

-Yeah, thank you, buddy-said Mike-. We are going to her house, hopefully, I make it back.

-My dad won´t hurt you-said Emily, chuckling-. My sister is different so be ready for her.

Mike looked worried but it didn´t last long when Emily kissed his cheek and he relaxed again then, he looked at Jake and got something from his pocket that he gave to the young boy then, Mike put the device in Jake´s hands.

-A samuraizer? –asked Jake, surprised.

-Antonio adapted it for you-said Mike, getting serious-. The whole team agreed you should have one. We know you may become a Ranger someday but if you are ever in trouble, please, don´t hesitate on using it, ok? We will be by your side in seconds.

Jake looked at the samuraizer and then back at Mike and Emily and nodded, solemnly. He knew a few parts of what Jen told his dad and his uncle Tommy, enough to know why he was doing what he was doing… and enough to know that he will not fight alone.

Jake took a deep breath. He hoped his team was as good as the previous were but he was sure that if they were chosen, they had to be.

-It also allows us to stay in touch-said Emily, hugging Jake-. No matter what, we are family, understood? And we will always be there for you.

Jake nodded, hugging the yellow Ranger then, he did the same with Mike and after a goodbye, he saw both Samurai leave towards the train station where they will catch a train that would bring them to Emily´s hometown. Jake smiled, watching them go, and then looked at the samuraizer, thinking about his legacy.

If he becomes a Ranger, he won´t fail them… he won´t let them down.
