Thank you, Dana, for the correction in my summary, I saw what you mean, and you are right, it was giving a very wrong message (I hate Penny too ). When Callie woke up from her dream, it was 6:30 in the morning. She found herself alone in the bed with a cold sheet next to her. She propped herself on the elbow to see if Penny was in the washroom, but the door was left ajar and nobody was there.

She got up and went to the kitchen hoping to find Penny, but she wasn't there as well.

She found a note on the kitchen countertop next to coffee machine

Got Called in for the emergency surgery- XO- P

Callie sighed deeply on reading the note "So much for the weekend of doing nothing," she said to the empty apartment.

Callie took the coffee and went to the balcony to enjoy the morning view of central park. She has just taken the first sip when her phone rang from the kitchen countertop.

"Ugh! Who is calling so early in the morning" Callie wondered, hoping that its non-work-related call.

"Go for Torres," Callie said.

"Hey! Callie, it's me… Arizona. My phone died so am calling you from the hotel phone. I hope I didn't disturb you?" Arizona spoke from the other side.

"Hi! Good Morning. No, No you didn't disturb me. I was just having coffee. Tell me what's up" Callie responded.

"I was just wondering if you could suggest me a place where I can find Pancakes, Sofia wants to have pancakes for breakfast, and I have no idea where to get them," Arizona asked.

"Sure, there a small breakfast café on 5th avenue, they make THE best pancakes and its Sofia's favourite place too" Callie replied.

"Great thanks… so what are you and Penny doing today?" Arizona enquired.

"Nothing, she was called in for surgery, so I am sitting in my apartment sipping coffee"

"Oh… Okay…why don't join us?" Arizona asked in such a hushed voice that Callie couldn't understand.

"Huh? Sorry I didn't get that" Callie replied

"I was saying that… ah… why don't you … umm... join us for …breakfast" Arizona repeated hesitantly.

"Oh! I… um… don't wanna impose. It's your time with Sofia I don't want to intrude" Callie replied.

"Nonsense! You can never impose; I would love to have you for breakfast … um... shit…that came out wrong… no…I mean Sofia would love to have breakfast with you" Arizona rambled on.

"Ok, Ok… I would love to be your breakfast…um…. Buddy" Callie added with a chuckle.

"Don't be so cocky Dr Torres…" Arizona added with a laugh. "Meet us at the café at 8"

"Sure thing will see you there" Callie concluded and disconnected the phone.

"Did, she just flirted with me… I mean it felt like that… was she?" Arizona thought. "Na! I am sure I am thinking too much into that. I am sure it was nothing".

Arizona decided to drop the topic and went to wake Sofia up. She decided not to tell Sofia about Callie joining them and keep it as a surprise for her.

At 7: 30 they took the cab to 5th avenue. Sofia had something or other to say about everything she saw on their journey to the café. They reached the café and occupied the table outside and basked in the morning sunshine.

"Mamma! Let's order pancake" Sofia said while looking for the waiter "my stomach is making noises" she added in a whisper.

Arizona giggled of Sofia larks and said: "just wait for a few minutes, I'll order it".

Arizona checked her watch and looked towards the road for the sign of brunette. Just when she looked up, she saw Callie galloping towards them. As Arizona and Callie eyes met, she mimed towards Arizona to keep quiet. She came close towards Sofia's back and scared her with a "Boo".

Sofia screamed and looked back. "MOMMY!" Sofia exclaimed and jumped to hug her.

"How are you here?" Sofia asked with a grin "I am so so so happy" she added before anybody could answer.

Callie kissed Sofia on the forehead and replied, "All thanks to Mamma; she asked me to join you guys".

"Yey !" Sofia screamed excitedly.

"Hey!" Callie said to Arizona.

"Hi, Good Morning" Arizona replied.

Without any further conversation, they ordered the pancakes with strawberry for Arizona, Choco chip pancake with whipped cream for Sofia and blueberry crepes for Callie. She chatted with Sofia as they waited for their food to arrive.

"So, what your plan for rest of the day" Callie asked Arizona as Sofia devour the pancake.

"Well, first we are going to a shopping fest at little Italy and then we'll go and watch beauty and the beast … Sofia's choice" Arizona said.

"Like you wouldn't enjoy seeing Emma Watson, eh?" Callie laughed.

"that's an incentive" Arizona replied with a wink and chuckle. "What about you?" she asked.

"Ah!" Callie sighed. "I have a very elaborate plan of …. Sitting at home in my underwear and doing absolutely nothing; Penny will be at the hospital till later this evening and then she has a party to attend to" Callie explained.

"oh" Arizona replied quietly.

After finishing all the food and drinks, they got ready to get up and leave.

"So, I guess I'll see you around then" Callie said.

"hmm..." Arizona said and after few seconds of struggle, she added "Callie! come with us; I mean you are already ready … and… um… we could spend … um … the day together…. I mean Sofia and you and…Ahem… me".

"Oh! …um… no, it's okay, you enjoy your time with her…" Callie negated; secretly wishing that Arizona doesn't accept her refusal. "I mean I don't wanna steal your time with her… that's won't be fair to you"

"O… kay," Arizona said sadly. "Maybe Callie doesn't want to spend time with me," she thought. " well, If you are sure" she said out loud.

Callie's heart dropped; she was hoping that Arizona would insist her to join but instead, she agreed. "Maybe Arizona doesn't want to spend time with me," she thought as well. "yeah you guys enjoy your time together" she said sadly, mentally kicking herself for saying no in the first place.

They started walking towards the subway station slowly. Sofia holding both of her mothers' hand and for a few minutes, nobody spoke anything.

Both women were battling with their emotions and feelings inside; trying hard not to show the disappointment outside and in the process, ignoring the look of dismay on other's face. Just as they reach the station Arizona decided that she really want Callie to come so she said loudly and suddenly "You should come". She quite down instantly realizing how loudly she spoke.

"Huh?" Callie asked.

Arizona started rambling on in one breath "You should come. Come with us. I have no issues with you joining us and Sofia will be very happy, plus I would like your opinion on some dresses I wanna buy and you know, how confused I get when I have many options to choose from. Plus, you like Emma Watson too and we can get Nachos with cheese which you love... and… popcorn and iced tea…"

"YES!" Callie shouted interrupting the blond' s verbal diarrhoea. Even though Callie always found Arizona's rambling cute but right now she needed to say yes before the topic gets sideway. "I mean… ok…Ahem… if you insist" she added composing herself.

"Yey! Mommy is coming too" Sofia scream excitedly, bring both of her mom's out of their thoughts.

"Alright, let's go then," Both women said together.

As they travel down towards the subway all the three ladies had big smiled plastered on their faces and heart was filled with happiness. After so long, they were behaving like a family again.

As the train moved towards their destination Sofia indulged herself in Arizona's mobile, watching all the photos in it. Callie and Arizona, on the other hand, were deep in their thoughts about the time when they used to go for outings with Sofia or when they would leave Sofia at Meredith's house to have a date night. Both women couldn't help but feel a sting of sadness as the reminisce the time from their past. They are so close now sitting side by side but still so far away from each other. It has been so long; So … So long.

"Mamma! You look so pretty in this photo" Sofia exclaimed bring her mother out of their thought process. It was their wedding photo; Alex has taken this picture of Arizona when Callie was dancing with Mark and Arizona was looking at her, mesmerized by her beauty.

Callie and Arizona looked at the photo and then to each other, they smiled awkwardly and broke their eye contact.

"she still has our wedding photos on her phone… I have mine, in my hard drive… well, I had to after the row penny had created when she saw the wedding pictures on my phone… I wonder if she still looks at these photos sometimes… I know I do when Penny isn't home… I do feel guilty though, hiding this from penny but I can't just throw away my past. It's a big part of me … a beautiful part. Even though we had to face so much heartbreak along the way but our wedding, our life, together comprises the most beautiful part of my life… I can never discard it." Callie thought.

Arizona, on the other hand, was thinking "Shit! Callie saw these photos, now she knows that I keep these photos on my phone. God! I hope she doesn't think that I am still hung up on her… I mean I am not… well… not entirely… I do think about her all the time… I look at these photos and go back to the time when we were happy together. Our wedding night was the most beautiful night I ever spent in my life… after all, that was the best day of my life… that IS the best day of my life till date… But obviously, I don't want Callie to know that… she is happy with Penny… her perfect Penny. She might have deleted our wedding photos from her phone I am sure."

To make matter worse Sofia questioned Callie "Mommy, why don't you have these photos on your phone? See, mamma has all the photos, but you don't have any".

Callie looked at Sofia with horror and got speechless for a moment. She didn't want Arizona to know that she doesn't have their wedding picture on her phone. She looked at Arizona who was looking a little hurt. She felt the need to explain to her but before she could say anything the train came to a halt as their stop has come.

"Hold my hand Sofia, let's go," Arizona said instantly and got up to walk towards the exit. Callie hung her head and followed them out of the train. She didn't get the chance to explain as Arizona was walking 4 steps ahead of her with Sofia beside her, she moved out of the subway station without looking back. Callie knew she needed to do damage control and she needed to do it now. She moved briskly to get to Arizona.

"Hey, slow down; where is the fire? are you trying to ditch me?" Callie joked to diffuse tension and to test the waters.

When no response came from Arizona Callie went ahead and stood in front of her, to stop her from running.

"What?" Arizona spat without meaning to.

Callie was taken aback by the tone but stayed calm "Arizona! Let me at least explain".

Sofia, on the other hand, was oblivious to her parent's a conversation and was eyeing a life-size doll of Elsa of frozen in the display window of the shop.

"Explain what Callie? You don't need to explain anything to me… it's alright… of course, you have deleted our wedding photos… you have this …this new life and … and… and a girlfriend … you don't need those photos… so yeah… no need to explain… I understand" Arizona said breathlessly. When Callie didn't respond immediately, she added meekly "it just sucks to know that it was so easy for you to get rid that part of your life… our life".

"Yes, I have a girlfriend and yes, she is the reason I removed the pictures from my phone, but Arizona, it does mean I have deleted it from my life. I have just removed it from my phone after Penny and I fought it. They are safely stored in my shockproof hard drive" Callie explained with a gentle smile. "I can never delete them, no matter what has happened between us. That time of our life is the most beautiful part of my life… I can never get rid of it… Ok?"

Arizona took a deep breath and smiles slightly and nodded "Ok".

"Now can we start our shopping fest, somebody is eager to buy yet another pink dress, and by "somebody" … I mean you Arizona" Callie laughed heartily as Arizona smacked her on the arm.

"Very funny" Arizona scoffed and pretended to get insulted but laughed along. "let's go," she said and let Sofia drag them towards the doll shop.
