The basement door swung open and Chase and Zuma went downstairs and looked around, there were boxes and all kinds of rubbish.

- Remind me why we should only clean the two of us here? Zuma asked.

- Because the rest have spread all over the bay and they don't think to go back.

For the next three hours, they were throwing boxes through the little window, sweeping up garbage, and putting aside useful things.

- I'm going to have a drink ... Zuma said ... Do you want something to drink?

- Sure. Chase said.

He grabbed the box and was about to pick it up when he spotted the writing on the side. The box said: Zuma.

He looked at the door and the box.

- I don't think she will be offended ... He thought as he opened them.

Inside were several fantasy books, horror stories, and a photo album.

A few photos showed Zuma with her parents and brother, he guessed.

- She never said she had a brother. He said to himself.

- This is a sensitive topic. Zuma said, behind him.

Chase let out a startled exclamation and turned around. Zuma was standing there holding a bottle of water.

- You know it's not nice to rummage in someone else's stuff? She said

- Sorry. Chase said feeling guilty

- I forgive you ... She said ... Anyway, since you already know I had a brother, I guess I might as well tell you everything.

Chase nodded as they sat down on the stairs.

- My brother ... My twin ... His name was Aiden. I was two minutes younger ... Her voice was wobbling ... In the hot summer our parents took us to the lake. I jumped into the deep water, certain that I could swim well. I was wrong and I started to drown ... Her voice was trembling more and more and tears started to gather in her eyes ... He saved me ... But he himself drowned ... He died because of me.

The tears began to flow freely when she was no longer able to hold them back. Chase grabbed her and hugged her as she cried into his fur, stroking her head as she spoke her last words.

- That's why I became a lifeguard. To be able to prevent such a situation when it happens to someone else. She said and looked at his eyes.

Chase himself had tears in his eyes.

- Hell ... He thought ... If that had happened to me, I would have gone mad with despair.

- If it was your twin, why were his photos here?

- In fact, im forgot where I hid that album. Thanks for finding him.

Chase nodded and they went back to cleaning.

One and a half hours later

They left the basement and Zuma was about to go to her doghouse when she felt a paw on her shoulder, she turned and looked at Chase.

- If you need help, you know where to find me.

Zuma smiled and then, to Chase's surprise, she kissed his cheek and ran away giggling along the way.

Chase stood there like a statue, brought his paw to his cheek and smiled like an idiot.

- Women ... He muttered and went outside.
