Mason's heartbeat kept a steady rhythm, every nerve in his body and brain electrified as Alex tenderly caressed his muscular arm and bicep. He was close enough to Alex's body to inhale her scent, his free arm wrapped around her exposed back and in one gentle pull their skin touched. Mason's hand trailed up to Alex's luscious locks, he loved the softness, watching her curls tumble as he released them. His hand then moved down to her cheekbones, eventually reaching her ruby lips. That's when the kissing started. They moved like partners in a dance, their bodies fit together as if we were made for each other. Mason's body buzzed in anticipation, he was in his element when Alex was with him.
From there on in it was all passion, intense, intoxicating. She was his drug. As their tongues entwined he could feel her fading away, "no, no," he moaned.
His hands searched frantically around the mattress for her, waving his hands madly through the air, an icy breeze past him. "I'm still here," he heard her whisper.
Mason felt the sting of tears threaten to spill from his eyes, he flung out his arm and dragged it along the mattress. "Come back," he pleaded, his voice weakening with every word he spoke.
"I'm here…"
"Alex?"
A cold air engulfed his face and Mason suddenly felt contempt as a pair of pursed lips lightly pressed against his cheek. He instantly thought back to that rainy day on Waverly Place, their first kiss. There was something heavenly about that kiss in the rain, a tender moment Mason knew he'd never forget. They didn't care about the cold air numbing their toes or their faces dripping with the wintry rain. His hands fumbled gently in her hair, hers rested upon his chest. He remembered Alex's smile as she glanced toward the sky, little did he know Mr. Russo was secretly watching. Everything back then was so perfect, Mason often found himself asking why did it all have to change?
"I miss you Alex…" A single tear rolled down his cheek, Mason clamped his eyes shut attempting to fight the urge to cry before feeling two arms wrap around him from behind. One inhale of a floral scent made him want to turn around, the feeling of warmth and comfort instantly filled him along with a pang of guilt. "What is happening?" He sighed, "you're not really here, are you?"
There was no answer, instead he felt the embrace tighten and the cold air gradually warm around him.
"They've seen you too, Justin, Harper and Max. They've just been here. Do I tell them about you? I'm worried they'll take you away…"
He heard a whisper, "I could never leave you…" Mason flipped himself over only to find that he was staring directly into those hypnotizing dark hazel eyes, Alex's hand took hold of his and with her sweet touch Mason found a new strength. In that moment he was relieved from his grief and fulfilled with a new confidence only her love could provide.
"Promise?"
"Promise." She reached forward and delicately rested her lips on to his before pulling away and caressing his cheek with her cool hand, "you know what you need to do…"
Mason nodded, he pulled Alex closer to him and buried himself in her embrace. Her arms squeezed a fraction tighter and Mason exhaled more slowly, his body melting into Alex's as every muscle lost its tension.
