Chapter 105

A Book Worth Reading

The very next day, our three-day vacation at the Akane Resort was officially over. I felt kind of sad that we had to leave the Akane Resort, but I was also glad to be heading back home to Magnolia. Mira and I had just left the Akane Resort and were now riding a train en route back to Magnolia. It took all morning, but we eventually arrived back to Magnolia just getting off the train at Onibas Station. I let out a satisfying grunt as I stretched my arms and limbs.

"Man, it sure feels good to be back in good old Magnolia," I said. "Home sweet home as they say."

I looked towards Mira expecting her to agree with me, but she didn't. She was looking towards the ground looking a bit down like she was sad about something.

"Is something the matter, Mira?" I asked. "You look sad."

Mira jumped a little as she looked up at me quickly replacing her frown with a smile.

"Oh, no! I'm fine!" said Mira as she waved her hands frantically. "I'm just a little sad that it's going to be back to work me starting tomorrow; that's all."

"Oh. I see. Well, I suppose that I can't blame you," I said. "But then again, we can always find another day to hang out together."

Mira then gave me a little smile. "I'll have to take you up on that offer, Willy," she said. "Until then, I was gonna head back home and unpack. What about you?"

"Pretty much the same thing," I replied. "After that, I might just head to the guild hall and see what everyone else is doing, maybe even go out on a job."

"Well then, I guess this is where we part ways," said Mira. "I'll see you later then, Willy."

"Alright then. Bye, Mira."

And while I gave a wave for goodbye, I walked off heading for home.

Mira watched as Willy walked out of sight putting on a smile as she waved. When she was sure that he was out of sight, she let out a sigh that she had been suppressing as started for home with a frown on her face.

"Man... this stinks," she said bitterly to herself. "I completely screwed up the other day."

She was still thinking back to when she tried to tell Willy her feelings on the Ferris Wheel. The thought alone made her feel very silly and somewhat sorry for herself.

"Why couldn't I tell Willy how I felt?" she thought. "I mean I know that it wouldn't be easy, but I didn't think I'd chicken out the way I did. And it was such a perfect moment too."

"Ugh, I feel so silly," Mira said to herself. "I finally get the chance to tell a guy I like him, only for me to squander it? Just like a ditz."

"Well, this is a rare sight. Do you normally talk to yourself or are you just acting weird?" said a voice from behind.

Mira immediately turned around feeling a little startled to find that Cana was standing there with a mischevious and amused expression on her face.

"Oh, Hey there, Cana," said Mira. "What brings you around here?"

"I knew that you Willy were coming back today, so I'd figured that I'd come and see you," Cana grinned as she draped her arm over her shoulder. "So, how did it go? Did you manage to steal Willy's young heart by confessing to him?"

Mira then frowned as she looked away. "Sorry to disappoint you, but... that didn't exactly come full circle."

Cana was surprised. "Wait, what? What happened? He didn't reject you didn't he?"

"No. Nothing like that," Mira spoke shaking her head. "I... couldn't tell him."

Cana stared blankly at Mira. "You're kidding me. Mirajane Strauss, the girl who's one of the hottest girls of Fairy Tail, and the poster girl of Sorceror Weekly didn't have the nerve to say three simple words to a boy?" She then snickered trying not to get into a giggling fit.

Mira then pouted as she blushed. "You don't need to laugh at me, Cana," she said huffily. "It wasn't even my fault anyway."

"I'm sorry, Mira. I couldn't help it," apologized Cana now calmed down. "I find it cute that even a girl like you can get nervous when it comes to boys is all. It's almost hilarious."

"Is that supposed to be a compliment?" Mira asked sighing. "Because I feel as if you're making fun of me."

"Come on, Mira. Don't worry. It happens to everyone," soothed Cana as she gave a couple of pats on Mira's shoulder. "There'll always be next time. Besides, you can take this time to come up with some ideas to seduce Willy and steal this heart, and I can help you."

"I appreciate the sentiment, Cana, but I think I should fine," said Mira. "I mean I just messed up is all. I'm sure there'll be next time."

Cana then sighed. "You see? That right there is why you need help, girl!" she said pointing an accusing finger. "You lacking in confidence which is not like you at all! What happened to the strong and confident Mira that isn't afraid to get whatever she wants? If you keep talking like that, you're gonna lose Willy to another woman, and you don't want that to happen do you?!"

"A-Another woman?" Mira gasped now feeling a bit worried. "What do you mean by that?!"

"Well, I thought it would be obvious," said Cana shaking her head. "What if Willy ends up falling for another girl instead of you? Especially with Willy being the naive little boy that he is. He could probably end liking someone from another guild, maybe even a girl from our guild. And Fairy Tail's got a whole bunch of competition that could snatch Willy away from you before you realized it, like Kinana, Wendy, Evergreen, hell even possibly Lucy or Erza. Lisanna might even catch Willy's eye if you're not careful."

Mira's face slightly paled with horror as she lost herself in her imagination. She began to imagine Willy surrounded by a few of the female members, all of which were clinging to him cutely and seductively.

"Oh, Willy, you're an adorable and handsome man~," said Evergreen lovingly. "So adorable that I want you to be my boyfriend~."

"No way! I want Willy to be my boyfriend!" protested Levy. "I may not be much in the busty department, but I'm fairly attractive!"

"Surely, you both jest!" scoffed Erza. "If anyone's going to be Willy's boyfriend, it's going to be me! Besides, Willy and I will be able to make incredible offspring considering that we're both powerful mages."

"Um... girls? I understand your feelings, but this is a little sudden for me," Willy spoke shyly. "I'm not so sure if I feel the same way. But then again, I'm flattered."

"Then hurry up and choose," said the girls. "Who are you going to go out with as a girlfriend?"

Mira in her fantasy tried to call out to Willy, but every time she tried, another girl from the guild cut her off stepping in front of her. The more girls that appeared, the further away Willy got.

"Willy! Willy!" she cried as she tried reaching out for him. "Don't go!"

But Willy got further and further away as he disappeared into the sea of women.

"Oh no! There's no way I could let that happen!" Mira cried as she clenched her fist her horror beginning to turn to determination. "There's no way I'm gonna give up Willy for anyone of those girls! Especially Erza!"

Cana stared blankly at Mira a bit surprised. "Uh... well, at least you get it. Anyway, you don't have to worry. If it's advice you need, I'm your girl. Plus I know a couple of other girls that'll be able to give you some tips too. That is if you want some advice."

"Normally, I'd say no," said Mira. "But after missing my chance and hearing what you said, count me in, Cana."

Cana then flashed a toothy grin as she slapped Mira on the back. "Atta girl! Since you're finally starting to see things my way, what do you say we get started back at Fairy Hills? It'll be a good place to start your training, and I've already got some to get you started."

"And what exactly is that?" asked Mira.

"You'll just have to wait and see," said Cana as she winked wagging her finger.

WILLY'S POV

As I walked around Magnolia, I couldn't help but look forward to getting home. Sure I had a great time at the Akane Resort, but as they say, there's no place like home. That and I was looking forward to getting back to work so that I could pay my upcoming rent. But for today, I had a date with a book to finish up, and I was going to take my time finishing it up.

I soon arrived at the apartments and walked in. Inside, the landlady was sitting at her desk going through some paperwork. When I came in, she looked up and smiled greeting me warmly.

"Well hello there, Willy," she said.

"Afternoon, Landlady," I greeted back. "How are you today?"

"I'm doing just fine," she said. "I heard you went to the Akane Resort for a few days. How did that go?"

"It went great," I smiled as I walked past her. "I had a lot of fun, but I'm looking forward to getting back to work. But for today, I'm going to kick back, relax, and read a book."

"Don't forget about your rent," the landlady called back. "I expect to have this Wednesday."

"I won't," I said. "Don't worry. You'll get it in due time."

I walked up the stairs to the second floor and soon came to the door of my room. I turned on the doorknob opening the door and stepped inside. I walked in, took in a deep breath, and then let out a sigh content that I've finally come home.

"It's certainly been a while old room, but now I'm back. Now then... where did I put that book?"

I walked over to my desk checking to see if the book I was reading was on it. Sure enough, it was right where I placed it. I then picked it up and opened it quickly skimming through the pages looking for the page where I left off. Sure enough, I managed to find the page I was on.

"Alright. Now I'll finally get to see what happens next. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it."

I went over to my bed and lied on my back letting the softness of the pillow make me feel comfortable. Then I started to read picking up where I left off. At this point in the story, the main protagonist of the book through trial and error had finally was alone with the girl of his dreams preparing himself to confess his love for the girl.

"So... what was it that you wanted to talk about?" she asked her cheeks as red as roses.

"Well, the thing is... I've wanted to tell you something ever since we first met," the protagonist said with a hint of anxiety."It's... something that I've been keeping to myself for a long time now, but now I can't keep it to myself anymore. I love you."

Her eyes widened in shock upon hearing those three simple words, her heart also skipping a couple of beats. "Do... do you mean that?"

"Yes. I do. With all of my heart," He spoke with eyes filled with unwavering love and passion. "I know that you probably don't feel the same as I do, but I love you with all my heart and every fiber of my being! I'll admit at first that I wanted you for your beauty, but after everything we went through, my love for you goes far beyond just your beauty. Your cheerful smile, your amazing personality, and most of all, your kind heart, all of those things are what made me fall for you. But... I'll understand that if you're interested in someone else. I just wanted to get my feelings across."

He then started to walk away not wanting to look at her in the eye and leaving his feelings at that moment. However, she wasn't about to let him get away after that. She immediately grabbed his arm stopping him dead in his tracks and causing him to turn towards her.

"Please wait. Don't you dare leave me," She said firmly. "Not before you heard what I have to say first."

She paused while he waited for her answer his heart skipping a couple of beats. She then looked up at him her eyes shining like diamonds and her tears shining like crystals.

"The truth is... I feel the same way," she said. "I love you as well, and I want to be with you."

His cheeks flushed with joy and embarrassment, and he held her in his arms his heart soaring. The two then held hands as they gazed into each other's eyes as he took a deep breath.

"Then, will you do me the honor of bearing my child?" he asked.

A smile worked its way to her lips as she nodded happily. "Yes. Yes, I will."

The two then gazed lovingly into each other's eyes. They then inched closer and closer to each other their lips centimeters away from each until...

Suddenly, there was a couple of knocks on the door that almost made me jump about a foot or two.

"Who could that be?" I wondered feeling a bit irritated.

I got up from my bed placing my book face down and walked over to the door. I then opened it to see that Erza was standing in front of my door wearing her casual attire without her armor.

"Oh, Erza. It's you," I said.

"Hello there, Willy," The Redhead greeted back. "May I come in?"

"Of course. By all means," I said smiling. "Come right in."

I then opened the door as Erza walked inside.

"Do you want me to make you some tea?" I asked.

"Sure. I would love a cup," said Erza. "Thank you for asking."

I then walked into the kitchen and got two cups for the two of us, and I started making the tea. I soon finished making the tea, and I set our two cups on the table. Erza took her cup and sipped from it as I sat down in front of her.

"So what brings you over my way?" I asked.

"I just wanted to stop by to welcome you back after your three-day vacation with Mira," replied Erza setting her cup down. "How did that go by the way?"

"Oh, I had a lot of fun," I said with a slight smile. "It was the first time I've ever been to such a place, but I'm glad I went. My only regret is that I wish I could have stayed a bit longer. I mean the ocean is just beautiful over there!"

"I figured you'd say that," chuckled Erza. "However, I will agree that the ocean is quite beautiful over there. I'm glad you had fun."

"So was that the only reason why you came, Erza?" I asked. "Or was there something else you wanted to talk about?"

Erza smile then disappeared being replaced with a frown. "Truth be told, there is, Willy," she said grimly. "Something important we have to address as soon as possible."

I could see from the look on her face that Erza was serious about something. "What is it, Erza?" I asked. "Do you need help on a job? Or could there possibly be an enemy attack that's going on?"

Erza was silent for a few seconds. Then she looked up at me her eyes filled with determination.

"It's about that book I'd let you borrow the other day," she said. "I was wondering how you've been coming along with it."

I almost fell over in surprise not expecting that. "I-I see. So that's what it is," I said almost laughing. "I was reading it right now actually. I'm pretty much at the part where the hero was saying that he loves the heroine and they were about to kiss."

Erza's eyes then went wide as a giddy smile worked its way to her face. "Well, did you read beyond that?" she asked eagerly. "Did you get to the good part yet?"

"No. Not yet," I replied shaking my head. "Why do you want to know?"

"Well...

Erza then looked towards the floor now a bit sheepish. "Well... I was kinda hoping that I'd get that book back sometime soon," she said. "You see, it's a book I borrowed from Levy a while back, and I forgot to return it to her. So I just came by to ask you if you could return that book to Levy for me once you're finished with it."

"Sure. I can do that, Erza," I said with a nod. "I'll give it to Levy as soon as I'm done reading it."

Erza smiled. "Thank you, Willy. I appreciate it," she said. "And make sure to finish soon because I have a lot more books to recommend to you."

"I'm sure I'll be looking forward to them," I said.

"Oh, speaking of which there's another book that I've meant to give to you," Erza said as she then reached into the breastplate in her armor and then pulled out a book handing it to me. It was pretty big and moderately thick and was covered up in a blue book cover. Feeling a bit curious as to what the book was, I was about to take off the cover, but Erza placed an armored hand on top of mine stopping me.

"I would wait to read that one if I was you," Erza said. "It's very... informative about a particular subject."

"And what subject would that be?" I asked with a raised brow.

Erza looked away her cheeks turning a slight tinge of pink. "You'll find out read it. That's all I can say at the moment," she said as she stood up from her chair. "Until then, I must get going. I've got a lot of things to do back at the guild. Make sure you return those books to Levy."

"Um, OK then," I said. "You sure you don't want me to come to the guild and help you or something?"

"That's alright, Willy. There's no need to offer your help," said Erza kindly. "Besides, what I'm doing right now is private business between Master Makarov and I. Until then, thank you for the tea."

And with that, Erza left the room shutting the door behind her leaving me all alone.

"Well, she's sure acting weird," I said to myself. "I wonder why she was acting so strangely?" I then shrugged my shoulders. "Oh well, I suppose that's how Erza always is. In the meantime, it's back to reading for me."

I once again went to my bed, grabbed my book, and then resumed reading.

NO POV

Erza soon left the apartments and was now heading back to the guild hall. She eventually arrived there and had just walked inside when Lisanna approached her.

"Did you get it to him?" asked Lisanna.

"Yes, I did. Mission accomplished, but are you sure this is wise, Lisanna?" asked Erza. "I mean I know Willy's a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to that, but I feel as if this is too soon."

"It'll be fine. Besides, if Willy's going to fall for Mira, he's got to learn the ins and outs of love, the good, the bad, and the naughty," said Lisanna with a wink. "Trust me, Lisanna. He'll be thanking us later for this."

"Well, it is better than having to explain to him in person," said Erza with a sigh. "I'm just hoping that he doesn't become too overwhelmed. I'm just surprised that Levy was able to find such a book."

"Yeah. Me too, but then again Levy is a bookworm, so I guess that's Levy for you," said Lisanna. "But anyway, now all we have to do is wait and let it play out. I can't wait to see what happens next."

Lisanna then began to giggle to herself with excitement while Erza stared at Lisanna with a raised brow.

WILLY'S POV

After a couple of hours, I finished reading the book. I closed the book set it down on my desk and took a look towards the window seeing that the sky was once again wearing its evening colors.

"Oh man. I guess that took longer than I expected. At least I was able to finish it. Now all I have to do is return this to Levy tomorrow."

I set the book down on the desk, and I laid back on my bed staring up at the ceiling thinking about the book I just read. While I did enjoy the book a lot, I still didn't see the big deal about the love scenes. There were even some parts of them that I couldn't even understand.

"Am I missing something here? Or am I not into the stories as much as I thought I was?"

Then I remembered the book that Erza gave me as I looked on the table where I last placed it also remembering what she said. I got up from the bed, walked over to the table picking up the book, and took it with me as I sat back down on the bed.

"Well, Erza did say that I should read this when I finished with the first one, so I might as well get started on this one. Now let's see what we got."

I took the blue cover on the book and took it off revealing the cover of it underneath. It was nothing but big, bold letters that read:

The Birds And The Bees

The Guide of How You Came To The World

"Well, this seems weird," I said to myself as I inspected the book. "I think Erza mentioned something about that. Although, she didn't go into details about what the birds and the bees were. I take it this book goes into detail about what that is."

I stared at book contemplating on whether or not to read it or not. Then I decided to give it a try. I needed to learn about this eventually, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that it interested me a little. So I made myself comfy on my bed, and I opened the book starting to read it.

Little did I know, that book alone would completely change my outlook on everything I knew about the world and would shock me to my very core.

Nothing much for this mini-arc I got going on.

I'm hoping to build up Willy's love for Mira a bit, but don't worry the Tenrou Island Arc is approaching!
