Alright. Next chapter up and ready!

Chapter 109

Tenrou Island

The fateful day had finally come. The day of the S-Class Trial. All of the participants that were chosen as well as their partners were making their way to Hargeon preparing to go Tenrou Island. The sun was shining brightly as it melted the snow that was once fell, helping the people to recover from the aftershocks. On this day, there were going to be a total of sixteen people boarding the boat to Tenrou Island.

The sixteen wizards in question were now waiting by the harbor waiting for the boat to arrive. Some of them were excited, while others were nervous. One thing was for sure, eight of the sixteen were chosen, and would do whatever it took to achieve their dream, but only one would earn the title of S-Class. Soon enough, a large boat came into port bearing the symbol of Fairy Tail. Everyone then boarded, and after a few minutes, it set sail heading towards their destination. However, the group would soon be experiencing their first challenge before they would even arrive.

As the boat sailed across the waters, the weather had changed. It was now sweltering hot as the sun shone brighter than ever. Those who felt hot, changed into their swimsuits while others remained in their usual clothing either finding some way to or were already used to it. Everyone that was except for Gray, who was now sitting in the sun completely naked.

"Why is it so hot? I feel like my skin's gonna melt," moaned Lucy, as she laid sprawled on a chair now wearing a white swimsuit. "I mean, it was snowing about a week ago, and I was cold as a popsicle. Actually, a popsicle sounds good right about now. I'd turn into one, but Happy'd just eat me."

"No thanks, I'll pass," groaned Happy as he lied across a table. "You'd probably taste yucky, anyway."

"In that case, could you turn into a popsicle?" asked Lucy. "At this point, I'd put anything into my mouth as long as it's cold."

"If I did, I'd probably taste like regret and dried fish," Happy replied.

Not too far away from them, Levy, Cana, and Wendy sat by a table, Cana fanning herself with a Fairy Tail fan, and Levy and Wendy lying on the surface.

"Look, Lulu, I understand that it's a bit warm," said Levy, now in a spaghetti strap crop top with shorts. "But do you have to sit like that? You look like a slob."

"Warm? You gotta be joking. It's freaking boiling," said Cana, who was sporting an orange swimsuit with green stripes. "I'm told it's like this all the time cause there isn't any wind."

Wendy could only let out a weak moan in response.

"All right, we get it already. It's a scorcher," Gajeel spoke gruffly. "Can't you guys talk about something else? Besides, this heat ain't nothing. I can handle this no problem."

But everyone just ignored Gajeel feeling too hot to argue with him. Lisanna, who was wearing a light purple bikini and also drinking a cold tea, looked at Juvia curiously noticing that the Rain Woman was unaffected by the heat.

"Hey, Juvia. Aren't you feeling hot in those clothes?" she asked. "You are wearing a lot, and I'm worried that you might get heatstroke."

"No, I'm perfectly fine, so there's no reason for you to worry," Juvia replied. Then she looked at the nude Gray, a flushed and giddy expression filling her face. "However, the one thing that might give me heatstroke, is the sight of my beloved Gray in the nude!"

Natsu wasn't faring much better either. He was feeling the worst of it out of all the others. He was not only hot, but his motion sickness was kicking in too making him feeling worse than before. He staggered towards where Loke was sitting, on the brink of puking again.

"I don't... feel so good," the fire dragon slayer moaned. "Is this what Hell feels like?"

"Hey, Natsu, try not to point that puke cannon of yours at me, OK?" Loke said, as he scooted out of away.

"I'm sorry, but it wouldn't be so bad if Wendy would cast her Troia spell on me," Natsu whimpered. "But she won't."

He then leaned over to the railing, feeling the bile build up in his throat again.

"Well, you can't really blame the girl. She is technically Mest's partner," Loke pointed out. "If she did that, she'd be helping the enemy."

"Sorry about that, Natsu," apologized Wendy, having to have heard everything. "But try to hang in there."

Not too far away from them, Evergreen was sitting with Elfman, the woman wearing a zebra colored striped bikini while he wore a black loincloth.

"Well, isn't this funny?" Evergreen spoke snootily. "Here we are getting friendly with each other just before we're about to become enemies."

"I'm roasting over here!" complained Elfman. "I'm like a man-steak!"

"You do realize that doesn't make any sense, right?" Evergreen asked, feeling annoyed.

It seemed that the scorching heat would never end, but then Loke spotted something in the distance. Just ahead of them was the very island that they've been waiting to arrive on. Tenrou Island. It had a large tree that shone like gold which was its color, had large pointed rocks on its sides like a flower, and had lush vegetation of sorts at the bottom.

"Hey guys, we've arrived," Loke announced.

Everyone immediately came over to railing wanting to see the island for themselves, all except Juvia, who of which was still staring at Gray in his birthday suit, and Natsu who still hung over the railing throwing up.

"So that's Tenrou Island?" wondered Gray. "Took us long enough to get here, but if I'm being honest, it sure looks weird."

"Yeah, I'll say," agreed Lucy. "In fact, it's the ugliest island I've ever seen."

"I don't think so," said Elfman. "It looks kind of manly to me."

"An island on top of an island?" Levy hummed wonder.

"It's amazing!" Wendy gasped, amazed. "It has so much magic power; I can feel it from here!"

"Most impressive," agreed Mest.

Makarov then appeared standing upon the railing on the upper level. He was wearing a Hawaiian button-down shirt that was bright yellow with pink flowers, a pair of dark yellow shorts, and sandals too.

"There's a legend about this place," the third master said. "A legend that says it was once populated by fairies."

"Is that legend true?" Lucy asked, as she glanced up at him.

"Nobody knows for sure, but it is of great importance to our guild," said Makarov importantly. "The reason being is because it's also the resting place of the first master, Mavis Vermillion."

"Seriously?! Then if that's the case, then what's those clothes?!" Gray exclaimed, indignantly pointing. "Are you seriously going there dressed like that?!"

"Said the nudist to the stylish man," scoffed Makarov. "Anyway, if there's anything else, I'd like to reveal the rules of the first round of your trial if I may."

"First round? You mean there's going to be more than one?" Wendy asked with a hint of surprise.

"Well, of course. The trial's usually split into multiple rounds each year," said Mest spoke with his arms crossed. "If any of the Master's events were ever deemed simple, he'd probably keel over."

"Please direct your attention to the smoke coming from the shore," said Makarov, pointing towards the island.

Everyone looked and sure enough, close to the left of the island, the sixteen wizards could see a white pillar of smoke rising into the air.

"Your first task is to go right to the source. Once there, you will choose one out of the eight routes leading into the island. Each one is meant for a single team only, so don't dawdle and pick one," continued Makarov. "After you've made your choice, you will have to conquer these obstacles."

He pointed his fan to his right, and a map appeared. It showed the possible routes that the participants each had to take. Four of the courses were connected by twos, having a kanji symbol that read COMBAT. Three of the other routes had their own separate paths, each having an image of Erza, Mira, or Gildarts, also having two kanji that read, INTENSE COMBAT. Finally, one last path hardly had anything at all on it, other than the kanji that meant, SERENITY. All of them led to the end, which was an open area that read: FIRST ROUND PASSED.

"The teams that make it through these tests in one piece will advance to the next round," finished Makarov.

Natsu who had shockingly stopped feeling motion sick, looked up at the map, and was a bit intimidated at the odds. "Whoa," the fire dragon slayer spoke. "Combat, huh?"

"Those other ones say that we have to fight one of the S-Classers," Gray spoke, with a hint of worry. "Intense Combat, no joke."

"Yeah... Right," agreed Lucy, who was more stupified than she was worried.

"There's also a route that says Serenity," Loke spoke, pushing up his glasses. "What could that mean?"

"Combat routes are self-explanatory. Two teams will clash, but only one will move on, so make sure to use every power in your disposal," explained Makarov. "Intense Combat routes will be a lot more difficult, so if you find yourself on one of these, you'll be fighting one of Fairy Tail's elite. On the Serenity route, you'll be able to pass the round without having to fight at all, but you'll still be tested. Passing this challenge will require not only quality teamwork, and a whole lot of luck."

Most of the sixteen stared dumbly at Makarov, not believing their ears.

"How do you test something that?!" they exclaimed.

"Wait, isn't this good?" asked Lucy, trying to be hopeful. "I mean luck might be good for us, so it's something to count on, right?"

"Doubtful," said Cana. "Even as a gambler myself, I think that strategy blows. With one-and-eight odds, you can expect to be ready for a brawl."

"If I've done the math correctly," said Evergreen. "Only a maximum of six teams will make it to the next round."

"This sucks!" complained Elfman, now trembling with anxiety. "If we pick the routes with the S-Classers, we're gonna be in for a manly pounding! We don't stand a chance against Erza and the others!"

"What kind of a wimpy attitude is that?" Evergreen scoffed. "And you call yourself a real man."

"In the worst case scenario, only three teams will pass," Levy spoke with a sigh. "The first round could be the end of us."

"What are you worried about? I like it!" grinned Gajeel, clenching his fist. "I've been looking for an excuse to punch one of these bozos. I'm only sad that Water Boy's not one of them."

"Alright then, are you kids ready?" called out Makarov raising his fan. "Your trial starts right now!"

"Hold on a second. The trial's starting right before we get to the island?!" Loke asked.

Makarov flashed a mischevious grin as he cackled in response. Everyone looked at Makarov in surprise, not expecting the trial to start so soon. Natsu, on the hand, while still surprisingly not motion sick, slung his backpack on his back and turned towards his furry blue companion.

"You know what that means bud?" he spoke with an eager grin. "Time to jet!"

Happy answered with a nod as he hopped onto Natsu's back spreading his wings, and with a leap from Natsu, the two took off into the air.

"Looks like the first pick is ours, losers!" Natsu yelled at the others. "Let's make sure we get there, Happy!"

"Aye, sir!" said Happy.

"Hey, that's not fair!" Gray yelled back. "Get back here, you pyro!"

"Natsu, you little...!" growled Elfman. "Do you want to die?!"

Then suddenly, Natsu and Happy stopped slamming into what appeared to be an invisible wall which revealed strange purple rune upon the impact.

"An enchantment?!" Cana spoke, realizing what was going on. "That means..."

Sure enough, a barrier of purple runes appears all around the ship entrapping everyone inside. At the same time, Freed who was, of course, the cause of it all and also having a pair of wings comprised of runes, was flying just outside of the enchantment with Bixlow alongside who was flying via his babies heading towards the island.

"Fear not, it isn't permanent," he called back. "But it's set to disappear after five minutes."

"Speak for yourself, Freed!" Natsu snapped, as he slammed his fist against the wall in frustration.

"Yeah! That's cheating!" Gray also yelled. Then he looked towards Makarov. "Come on, Gramps, do something! You're not just gonna allow this, are you?!"

"Calm down, it's not a race," Makarov spoke chuckling. "Besides, five more minutes on this boat, won't kill you."

"Screw that! This is Freed we're talking about here!" Gray snapped, as he looked back at Freed and Bixlow as they slowly grew smaller from view. "If he gets to the island first, he could cover the whole island with enchantments!"

"Hold on a second!" called Happy from above. "Couldn't Levy get us out?!"

"Sure, can!" Levy smiled, as she whipped out a light pen from her bag. "This will be a piece of cake!"

She then set to work scribbling her pen on the runes of the ship, and in a manner of minutes, she had finished. Everyone was impressed.

"Way to go!" cheered Lucy and Cana.

But then, Levy and Gajeel jumped right into the water much to everyone's surprise and bewilderment.

"Sorry, but I only rewrote it for me and Gajeel!" Levy called as she resurfaced from the water.

"NOT COOL!" everyone else shouted indignantly.

"What the heck, Levy?!" Lucy cried. "I thought we were friends!"

"Not today, Lulu!" Levy laughed with a wink. "We'll see you guys on the island! Later, taters!"

And with that, Levy and Gajeel swam away, leaving the twelve participants waiting behind.

Natsu was now madder than ever. "What a bunch of traitors!"

Then Elfman took notice of Evergreen who was now holding a light pen of her own and rewriting Freed's Enchantment too.

"Now aren't you glad that you partnered with someone that knows Freed so well, Muscle Man?" Evergreen smirked smugly.

"Alright, Evergreen!" cheered Elfman. "I didn't know you could do that!"

"Rewriting something simple as this is child's play," bragged Evergreen as she continued rewriting. "Someone with my talents can even handle the toughest of traps."

She soon finished, and then she and Elfman jumped off the ship, and into the water. There were now ten participants remaining on the boat, still stuck behind the enchantment.

"Man! Remind me to have Levy around the next time I piss off Freed," commented Cana as she watched them leave. "And Evergreen too."

"How much longer until the enchantment is lifted?" asked Lisanna.

"Another four minutes, at most," replied Juvia. "Until then, I suppose we'll have to wait."

"Just you wait, you jerks!" growled Natsu. "Once I get out here, you're gonna be so sorry!"

Five minutes later, the boat came to a complete stop, and the enchantment Freed set had finally been lifted. Everyone immediately gunned for the side of the ship wanting to get to the island as fast as possible.

"Alright, Lucy! Once you hit the water, go all out!" yelled Cana. "We can't afford to waste any more time!"

"Right!" said Lucy.

Happy once more spread his wings, and Natsu kicked off the railing taking flight, shooting toward Tenrou Island.

"Guess we're playing a little catch-up!" Gray panted as he ran, now wearing his pants and shoes. "Let's do this, Loke!"

"I'm with you, Gray," Loke said.

Gray then slammed his fist into his palm as his ice magic flared from them.

"Alright! Time for ICE MAKE FLOOR!"

He placed his hand into the water and created a massive bridge made of ice connecting to the shore of the island. Then he along with Loke hopped on the ice bridge and skated as fast as they could.

Juvia dove straight into the water and swam at a breakneck speed while Lisanna swam beside her now a small fish thanks to her Animal Soul Take Over Magic.

"Lisanna, are you gonna be able to keep up with me?" asked Juvia. "You know, I'm very fast underwater."

"Of course I can," smiled Lisanna.

Lucy and Cana, who had just got into the water, saw how everyone was getting around to the island and couldn't help but feel a little impressed.

"Well, looks like everyone's found their way to get across," commented Lucy.

"No kidding," said Cana. "In Lisanna's case, I'd never thought I'd envy a fish."

Then Lucy gasped. "Wait for a second! What are doing here, gawking!" she cried. "If we don't get a move on, we're gonna be the last ones there!"

"Don't silly, Lucy," reassured Cana. "Mest and Wendy haven't even left the ship yet."

But as Cana and Lucy looked back towards the ship, she found out that she was wrong. Mest and Wendy had mysteriously disappeared from the boat, nowhere to be seen.

"What the-! When did they leave?!" Cana exclaimed.

"How should I know?!" cried Lucy. "It's like they vanished or something!"

"Then we really need to move our asses!" cried Cana as she started to swim. "If we don't, we could end up fighting Erza or worse!"

"We're so dead!" wailed Lucy,

The two then continued swimming as fast as they could, praying that they wouldn't be too late. However, they have yet to realize that someone else was now getting ready to make his move to swim towards the island, and he had been under their noses this whole time.

WILLY'S POV

I had been staying underneath the boat that picked up the others for quite some time now. Since then, I made sure to stay underneath it, so that I wouldn't be seen or detected. Eventually, the ship came to a complete stop, and everyone had exited the boat swimming towards the island. Thinking that Makarov might still be on the boat, I swam away from the boat and went the other side of the island. I then peered out of the water with just the top of my head. Upon seeing the island for the first time, I couldn't help but marvel at the sight.

"So this is Tenrou Island. It lives up to the hype; I'll give it that. Although, it does look rather strange for an island. not to mention, that freaky magic power emanating from it."

I swam towards the shore while keeping a careful eye out for anyone who happened to be close by there. So far, I didn't see anyone, which was perfect for me. When I was close enough to the shore, I walked out of the water and looked around, turning to my left and then my right. Then I quickly ran over towards the forest, pressing my back against the tree staying hidden.

"It seems that I've been able to infiltrate successfully without any problems. It seems almost too easy. All I have to do now is stay under the radar while I find Mest and Wendy. If I get caught, there's no telling how much trouble I'll be in with the Master and the others. Until then, I better get busy searching."

I then placed my hand on the ground and then used my Aqua Sense, hoping I would be able to locate Wendy and Mest as quickly as possible, but then I encountered a problem. As I began to see the images of blue in my mind, I instead saw nothing but blue, which represented the magic that the island contained. There was so much of it; I couldn't see anything. I tried concentrating harder, but it still showed nothing but blue, making it difficult to see anything.

"Damn. I can't sense anything. There's so much magic power, that I can't tell where anyone or anything is."

I then stopped my Aqua Sense, and stood up thinking of what my next move should be, looking up towards the air.

"And I can't just go flying around either. If I do, I'll be seen by the others, and I can't have that. Which means I'm gonna have to do this the old fashioned way. I'm gonna have to use my usual senses, and hope I see them."

I put my nose into the air and started to sniff, hoping that I would catch a scent. I could smell nothing but strange smells coming from the terrain around me. However, I didn't pick up on anything human. I jumped up in the trees and began hopping from one after another, searching around also not making a sound as best I could. As I did, I couldn't help but look at the scenery around me. All the trees, bushes, and the other plant life all had leaves that were a bright golden yellow color. I could also see several different creatures that were strange and were in various shapes and sizes appearing to be reminiscent of normal animals, but were either bigger or weirder. One of them, in particular, appearing to look like a dinosaur walking on its rear legs, happened to walk right by making the ground thunder as it did.

"Guess being caught isn't the only thing I should be worrying about. If any of those things spot me, I'm gonna be forced to fight, and that'll attract a lot of attention."

When I was sure that the beast passed, I resumed my search hopping from tree to tree while sniffing around and looking. So far, I could see nothing, but the plant life and animal life.

"Shoot. I'm not getting anywhere at this rate. Maybe I should get to higher ground so that I can see a bit better."

Then just as I was landing on the ground, I heard a deep and low growl from behind me. I looked up, and I saw a creature of the island. It was huge in appearance, reptilian in origin, blue in color, had a large mouth with sharp teeth, and was covered in hard scales. It glared at me with its green eyes gleaming, as it crept closer and closer to me.

"Oh, great. This is all I need. It looks like I'm gonna end up fighting, after all."

I took a fighting stance cloaking my fists with water preparing to fight, but then suddenly the ground began to rumble and shake. I felt an incredible amount of magic power that was swelling up immensely from somewhere on the island. I then recognized who this magic power belonged to, and the thought alone made my blood run cold as ice, and my body froze in fear.

"This magic power... it can't be! It's Gildarts! I knew he was strong when I sensed him the other day, but I never imagined that he would be this terrifying! He's even stronger than Master or Makarov! How can anyone be this powerful?!"

Then the rumbling stopped, and the magic power died down. I suddenly snapped out of my frozen state, and became aware of my surroundings, finding myself to be all alone noticing that the creature that had spotted me mysteriously disappeared.

"It seems that thing must have run off sensing Gildart's magic. I suppose I should be grateful. In any case, I better get moving. I still need to find Wendy and Mest. Hopefully, those two aren't too far away or at least weren't fighting against Gildarts."

I then took off running, jumping into the trees once again. This time, I went straight to the top, poking out my head from it. I looked around while trying to find the right place to look. Then as I looked up, gazing towards the largest tree, I noticed the cliffs that stuck out from the sides of it. One cliff, in particular, appeared to look just like a wolf.

"That should be a good place to look. If I can get up there, I'll be able to see the island a bit better."

Then suddenly, just when I was about to get going, there was a loud pop which came from above. Then a bright red light burst forth into the sky shining all around the island. I looked up and saw the red light, and my eyes widened with shock.

"A red flare? That means enemy sighting! Which means either everyone's aware that I'm here on the island, and is mistaking me to be the enemy, or someone else is here, and is most likely stirring up trouble."

At that moment, I heard a loud and familiar female scream which came from the top of the wolf-like cliff, which made my blood grow cold, and my heart stop with horror.

"That was Wendy's voice!" I cried. "And it came from up on that cliff!"

Not hesitating for a second, I used Aqua Jet to shoot myself into the air while spreading my wings and flew towards the cliff as fast as I could. I knew that I would be exposing myself to either the enemy or to any other Fairy Tail wizard that saw me, but I didn't care. If Wendy was in danger, I'd be damned if I was going to stand by and let any harm come to her.

"I only hope that I'm not too late! Just hang on, Wendy! Hang on until I get there!"

Meanwhile, the ship belonging to Grimoire Heart was now flying high above crossing over the seas. Hades sat on his throne, his face filled with subtle delight, while his soldiers and six of his elite mages stood before him, including Ultear. Silver Beard was also there standing over to the side, listening quietly.

"At long last, the time has come," he spoke, clenching his fist. "If everything goes as planned, we will see the return of the Black Wizard, Zeref. The ambitions of Grimoire Heart will no longer be a fantasy. Now that we've gathered the necessary keys, we will awaken that which sleeps within Zeref."

"Master, I believe you're overlooking one problem," pointed out Ultear as she held up her crystal ball which showed the Fairy Tail building. "Our plans could still come crashing down if Fairy Tail should decide to intervene. They defeated one of the Baram Alliance's most powerful guilds, the Oración Seis. The strongest among them are currently gathered on Tenrou Island. Awakening Zeref won't be an easy task."

Then one of the mages laughed flashing a psychotic smile. He was a young man with piercing red eyes, long, spiky blond hair that reached down to his lower back, and wore a yellow and dark blue skirt-like armor with a red waist ribbon that exposes the right side of his chest as well as his right shoulder.

"Enough with the wimpy talk, Ultear! Besides, that sad bunch of weaklings shouldn't be called a guild!" he sneered. "They ain't no big deal at all! In fact, I've got enough power than them with one finger! When I'm done with them, they'll be ash beneath my boots!"

And just to prove it, the boy let his magic power flare and shroud his body taking the form of dark gray flames as he cackled.

"Beware of your overconfidence, Zancrow," Ultear spoke. "And you should also simmer down too."

"Never underestimate one's opponent," said another male mage who was a goat-man wearing a black jacket and pants, as well as shades. "But even so, I will have faith that we will win this battle.

"I couldn't agree with you more, Caprico," said a third bespectacled mage who had gray pompadour hair, and wore a purple jacket with a gray shirt, and blue pants with shoes. "At last, we will unleash our ultimate desires, our war drums beat against their cages and cry for violence. We shall dance the waltz of death to their rhythm."

A fourth mage who was a huge, overweight, yet muscular, white-skinned man with shaggy black hair, wearing a dark robe, and tights, raised his large hand nodding in agreement.

"YeahIfeelthesameway!" he spoke quickly.

"Don't talk so fast, Tubby!" snapped Zancrow. "No one can understand you!"

The fifth mage who was a little girl with pink hair and green eyes, who wore a purple leotard with a gold-lined red cape and winged gold headgear then explained.

"Kain Hikaru's statement is deciphered as follows," she spoke in a slight monotone. " "I feel the same way." Isn't that correct?"

"Yep! That's it!" Kain smiled pointing.

"Rustyrose's previous statements deciphered," went on the girl. " "Desire" means "wants". "War drums" refer to hearts."

"Meldy, will you be joining us?" asked Ultear.

"In battle? Yes," responded Meldy.

Then Ultear glanced over at Silver Beard who remained standing over to the side quietly. She remembered back to the other day when Hades made a deal with Silver Beard.

"Master Hades, regarding what he just said, are you sure we can trust him?" she asked. "Despite what he said the other day, I'm not quite sure if he's telling the truth about what he said."

"That's understandable, Ultear," said Hades. "Truth be told, I'm not as sure as you are. But if he is, then we'll need all the information we can get about the Primordial Magic, and I'll do whatever it takes to get my hands on it. Therefore, you, along with the other Seven Kins, will not only search for Zeref, but you will also search for the boy. Is that understood?"

"Yes, Master Hades," said Ultear.

"I'm still not sure what to make of that man, but if Hades trusts him, then I have no choice but to obey," Ultear thought to herself. "So long as he doesn't get in the way of what I desire."

Hades then stood up from his throne, his magic beginning to show itself throughout his body which took the form of a dark violet aura.

"I am delighted. No one will be able to withstand our might. Not even Fairy Tail," he spoke. "Their strongest wizards will soon know the power of true darkness, the eminence that lurks within the abyss, for we are Grimoire Heart. We've walked the path of devils, and will force this world into the darkness. Tonight, these devils will bathe Tenrou Island in the blood of fairies!"

A cruel smile then spread on his lips.

"I'm looking forward to the agony on Makarov's face," he continued. "Our war with the Fairy Tail guild, starts now!"

I know that there wasn't much Willy in this one, but this was all a part of my plan as they say.
