Glory City
The number of top experts inside Glory city could be counted in two hands but the number of Black gold ranks was actually pretty high and even if these Black Golds were all 1 or 2 stars in this demon beast horde there were only two or three dozen Black Gold so thanks to the a day and half of preparation the possibility of not being able to withstand this demon horde were almost zero.
After Shin fainted he was transported back to his dormitory inside the Holy Orchid Institute where he was left along with some maid so that he could recover and unknowingly he slept through the whole horde attack.
Opening his eyes he was met with the familiar ceiling of his dormitory room.
"Oh you're finally awake."
Turning around he saw a bandaged Naoki sitting down cross legged on the floor.
"How much have I been asleep?"
Asking that he tried to sit up but stopped as he felt a stinging pain all around his body.
"You've been asleep for three days… no it's about to be the fourth day in a couple of hours I guess?"
Hering that Shin's eyes opened wide as he looked at Naoki with worry.
"How did the attack go?"
"It went well… We had the least amount of casualties and they were able to easily take care of the demon beasts before they got to the wall, though some heavenly eagles tried to make their way to a civilian aera, they were shot down quickly by Ye Zong."
Hearing that he calmed down as he fully rested his body on the bed.
"How are the aftermath going?"
When a demon beast horde attacked the worst part was normally the aftermath, even in those attacks where there weren't many casualties there would still be problems with recovering, rebuilding and diving the demon beast materials gained from the corpse of the beast.
"For now Eiko and Taishiro are taking care of that but I think they will give quite a lot this time, thanks to those weapon the first squad was able to kill their way through the horde not having a single casualties while also killing the highest number of demon beast, I'm not good when it come with politics but the might shown by the first squad and Daisuke along with you sacrificing so much just to warn us has increased our reputation quite a lot!"
Naoki smiled broadly while stroking his chin, while Naoki wasn't the least interested in a commanding position in the clan he would always feel proud if their clan was recognized especially after having to endure scorn and distrust the first years after they arrived.
Shin sighed as he let him rant about what happened and how the fight went, at the end the Half-Step Legend rank spear went onto Daisuke hands as he was both infinitely close to reaching the Legend rank and was of the fire attribute like the spear.
"So what should I do now…"
Because of taking so many pills he would need at least a day to expel the pill toxin and maybe up to a week to wait for his soul force to stabilize itself.
'I could always take my time sorting out all of those special techniques.'
Deciding on that, Shin looked at Naoki.
"How many of the great elders are here right now?"
At that question Naoki stopped daydreaming as he thought for a second before answering.
"Taishiro and Daisuke are with the city lord, Eiko at the alchemist association making pills for the injured while Keiko is back at the main clan compound to protect it and manage it."
Nodding his head he took out another interspatial ring before handing it to Naoki.
"Here take these interspatial rings and weapons to the main clan's treasury as soon as you have time, right now please tell the others to come here tonight so that I can explain where I got these things."
Standing up Naoki didn't hesitate in taking the ring and going out to inform of the others, while his injuries were a little heavy they were only flesh wounds, at most he would need to recover the blood lost but his soul force was unharmed so he could easily fight at this moment if he wanted.
As soon as he got out Shin didn't hesitate to start to sort out the special techniques that he got in front of the ravine and like this he unknowingly spent the whole afternoon just reading and sorting these ancient tomes.
Most of the one he read where special technique that he didn't know how to implement in his fighting style so he decided to give those to the great elders and later make copy of those for the rest of the clan but there were a couple of other that caught his eyes especially for a type of cultivation technique that was already lost and forgotten.
'Titan Emperor Cultivation Technique… A cultivation technique to increase the strength of the body instead of the soul, there are even rituals that use demon beast blood or demon spirit to gain their innate abilities…'
Other than demon spiritualists there were also another type of cultivator called Fighter but that was only a way to call the people that were too unfortunate or poor to actually integrate with a demon beast there was nothing like the ancient Fighter who could actually fight demon spiritualists with their bodies alone.
'This cultivation technique actually explains a way to cultivate the body…'
Looking at the plain looking book Shin didn't know how to feel, on one side he would gain an advantage with all other demon spiritualists.
'No, it's not only me… My whole clan could benefit from this and I can also sell the first few layers to the other aristocrats.'
Shin wasn't afraid of giving copies of this special technique to the other people of glory city, unlike them his goal wasn't to become the city lord and rule the remnant of humanity he wanted to find a way to rise and be able to build other city and finally have humanity start their comeback but to do that he would need powerful allies, he couldn't exterminate all demon beast alone after all..
'We may not be able to reconquer earth in my lifetime but if I can start this project then I will die happy.'
At the end this was only a distant dream, after all human life was limited even a Legend rank would only live a little more than a human.
'If I want to cultivate this I first need to learn alchemy to make my own pills..'
The secret to cultivating the body was to use a special type of medicine to wash the impurities of the body to increase one's own speed, endurance, strength, blood essence and other aspects of the physical body.

At that moment four figures walked inside as Shin greeted them, they were four of the five great elders of the Akagawa clan.

Taishiro immediately started with his usual scowl/stern expression, everyone in the room already knew that he wasn't actually mad or anything but to an outsider perspective it would seem as if Shin was about to be interrogated.
"After I and Naoki were separated I had to escape to a ravine to escape from a demon beast, as I reached the deepest part of that ravine I found some sort of ancient battle field where I found the skeletons of various ancient cultivator master that still had their own interspatial ring, all of those weapon were things that I found there."
Hearing all of this, everyone was surprised, especially Daisuke as he thought back to the spear he used to kill the demon beast.
'So that was an ancient weapon huh..'
Thinking of that he couldn't help but feel grateful and expectant of what Shin would find or do in the future after all he too was a Demon spiritualist and knew that luck was the most important factor for one own rise to the top, it was also luck that let them reach this place and now he could even benefit from the luck of his nephew.
After that Shin and the others talked about what he found and also his plan on how to divide it.
He would hold on at some special technique that he wanted to learn as for the other they would be divided towards the great elder and those that weren't selected by them would have copies made and distributed to the most loyal and talented members of the clan, as for the weapon Taishiro would decide on how to divide it.
'Now I just need to tell them about the Titan Emperor Cultivation Technique…'
Thinking of that he took out the common looking book before passing it to the t others.
"This is the most troublesome out of the things I found… This is a cultivation technique to cultivate one's own body in a way to reach the strength to even fight off demon spiritualists of the same rank."
Saying so everyone was stunned as they looked at the book, the room fell into an awkward silence before Taishiro spoke up.
"This could be complicated to spread out to the public… Even to the people of our own clan…"
Obviously everyone understood that they couldn't freely sell this as it could cause a drastic change in the power ranking in the whole city.
"I also thought of that but if you read just up to the third layer you will understand that it's fine, not only the requirements are something that not everyone has but if one wanted to train it it would be better to do it before reaching the silver rank, plus the pills and elixir needed are so many and precious that even the city lord daughter would find it difficult to cultivate this."
While Shin was thinking of cultivating this he knew that he may not ever reach the last layer but that was ok for him, any advantage he could have he would take them, as his father always said 'Heaven always give a way'.
"I want to make copies of the first three layer and say that we only found this, we will give a full copy to the city lord but we will sell only the first two layers publicly, as for our clan the normal soldiers a member may study up to the third layer but to the more outstanding and loyal they will receive the fourth layer if they complete the third and have the fifth if they complete the fourth and so forth."
Taishiro nodded as he closed the book.
"What about the other effect of using demon beast blood to gain their innate abilities?"
That part of the cultivation technique wasn't limited to any specific layer as one would only need to complete the first layer to do it.
"It will remain only between us for the moment. In the future we will also give it to the public but first we also have to stabilize our position in the city."
While Shin didn't care much about the various power struggles in the city he knew that he had to at least have a high enough position if he wanted to continue his dream of starting humanity comeback so he had to reluctantly enter the battlefield and try his best to increase his reputation within the city.
"For now return, Naoki, you will be the one to make copies of this book along with Keiko, Eiko please get me some demon beast blood of some useful demon beast, I don't need it right now but if in the future you find something useful don't hesitate. Taishiro train the soldier to increase their power so that we will be ready for future beast hordes, Daisuke please go over to the city lord mansion and inform the city lord of the body cultivation technique and that we found other special technique that we will gladly share with them in exchange for some rare ingredient or a other materials, try to not accept Demon spirit coins but if they will only will pay with that then give them a fair price, at this moment we need to strengthen our bond with their faction."
He knew that the sacred family was aiming for the position of the Snow wind family so obviously he would ally himself with them in the hope of combining force to destroy the Sacred family.
"I will continue to train here in the institute as it is the safest place for me to stay so that you can fully concentrate on the task that I've assigned to you."
The only reason he was able to group all of the elders here was because of his status and his help in the demon horde attack if not the headmaster would have never allowed for something like this to happen as he was normally a very neutral person.
As everyone left the room Shin returned to think about the special technique that he chose for himself.
Obviously the Skyfield Domain Movement Technique would be his main and only movement technique while the Titan Emperor Cultivation Technique will be the one to train his body, as for attacking technique he chose a couple that he won't spend too much time in it but would be useful in tricky situation like the Exploding Sun Technique that was a fire technique or the Heavenly Thunderbird Technique that was a lightning technique and lastly the Void Shattering Technique that was both a defensive or attacking technique depending on how it was used. As for his main attack move he would learn the Blood Lotus Drinking Seal that used the blood of the enemies to create petals that would increase the power and speed of a strike, if eight petals were formed they could create a lotus that could be used both defensively and to attack in long range. Shin chose this because of his own Blood attribute Soul form and the fact that his technique could be used along any other technique or martial move making it really flexible.
'Now that I'm seeing them all together I can say that I have chosen way too many.'
Shin could only sigh and accept that he will have many restless nights trying to learn all of them to at least the first layer.
That's it, I have not much to say except from the next chapter it will return to the main plot line along with the rest of the cast so don't worry.
Next chapter will probably be on the weekend or Friday if I'm lucky enough to have some free time tomorrow and the day after that.
