Chapter 123
Dreams
WILLY'S POV
For the next hour or so, with Jet and Droy as my guides, I've had been having fun getting to know the other Fairy Tail members. I was able to meet so many of the other members, all of which were friendly and cheerful. We would eat, drink, (nonalcoholic of course), and talk too. Although, they were also a bit rowdy at times to the point where a couple of fights broke out, but that was fine. I figured that this was what all guilds were like, even though this was the first time I've been to one. At least to my current state of mind.
At times, I could feel something familiar about this atmosphere, and I almost could grasp what I could remember before I lost my memories, but afterward, it quickly faded. However, I didn't really mind it. I was way too busy having fun with my new friends. Soon enough, it was getting close to the evening, and everyone was heading home for the day. I was getting ready to head back myself when Macao, Wakaba, came walking up to me.
"Hey there, Willy," greeted Macao. "Have you remembered anything yet?"
"Well, sadly, I haven't yet, Macao," I told him. "But I will say, that being around you guys made me feel something. It was like I was on the verge of remembering something, but sadly I wasn't able to."
"No worries, man. I'm sure that you were trying your best. It's all you can do right now," said Wakaba, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Just take your time remembering. Maybe a goodnight's rest is all that you need."
"It is getting close to nightfall," I said thoughtfully. "And I am feeling a little tired."
"Then let me and Wakaba walk you home," said Macao. "And tomorrow morning, we'll try to think of another way to get your memory back." He then turned to his right. "Romeo! It's time to go home, kiddo!"
At his call, a little boy came scampering up to the three of us. He had some similarities to Macao, but had a few differences. For example, his hair was more of a dark purple, unlike his father, and he also had lighter skin as well. This boy was Macao's son, Romeo. I met him not too long ago, and found him to be a bright and friendly boy. He seemed to look up to me and a lot of the other members of Fairy Tail members as well.
The four of us were now walking home, heading towards my apartment; the sky painted in a bright orange with a tinge of dark blue. Eventually, we arrived there, and after saying goodnight to them, I went inside and walked into my room using the key the landlady gave me. I then went to the bathroom, drew out some bathwater filling the tub, and then sat into the tub, letting the warm water relax my muscles as I entered. As I soaked in the tub, I leaned back, sinking into the water up to my shoulders, staring up at the ceiling, feeling a slight frown cross my face.
I was happy that everyone over at Fairy Tail was being so friendly to me, and Macao and the others were trying their best to get my memories, but I couldn't help but feel a little frustrated that my memories hadn't come back yet. It made me wish that they would hurry and come back already.
"I still have so many questions about what things were like for me before I lost them. What caused me to lose my memories in the first place? Why did I end up in the hospital so banged up? Who were these other members of Fairy Tail that were supposedly missing? Who am I, or rather who was I?"
I sank into the water a bit deeper letting out a breath under the water, making bubbles.
After a while, I washed myself clean and got dressed, and was now laying down on my bed, staring up at the ceiling, having a little trouble falling asleep. I continued to stare up at the ceiling, still feeling worried. Realizing that I wasn't going to get any sleep at this rate, I closed my eyes, and let my mind drift away, hoping that it would be enough. I made my body relax as I breathed in and out in a steady rhythm, and before I knew it, I was finally able to fall asleep.
NO POV
In an unknown area, inside of a lab, Silver Beard was busily at work analyzing the blood he had taken from Willy back in Tenrou Island, unaware of the events that had transpired not too long ago. You see, after he had obtained the blood, and after leaving Lisanna alive, he left Tenrou Island right then and there, leaving Grimoire Heart behind, not even caring if they left him alive or not. All that mattered to him was getting the blood.
Silver Beard had taken one of the vials that contained the blood, and put a drop on a slide under the microscope. He looked through the lens, and could the many red blood cells swimming around. However, unlike any normal blood cells, these were something different. They all had strange black tinges giving them a gradient of black and red.
Silver Beard was pleased. "Yes. The Toxin is doing its job perfectly," he chuckled. "Just as I thought it would. It had been years of numerous experimentations, but now, despite all the failures, I've finally done it. I suppose I should be grateful for working under Brain, despite him taking my subject away from me. And to add to that, I got to see quite the interesting show my little subject performed for me."
He thought back to when Willy activated the toxin's effect, which caused him to go into his berserker-like state. The thought alone made a shiver of excitement run through his spine.
"Those who have the toxin within their bodies will not only gain power, but will also begin to lose their sense of reason until they become completely overwhelmed by the toxin," Silver Beard thought to himself as he looked at the palm of his hand clenching it into a fist. "And once it takes him over, they'll become completely overwhelmed by its powers, and become a powerful weapon."
As he paused for a brief moment to revel in his success, then his elated smile slowly changed into a frown.
"Although, there are still some things that confuse me, like why his reaction was so late," Silver Beard murmured. "Back when the testing was finished, the power he displayed was incredible, and his instincts were as sharp as a tack for his young age. However, his senses seem to have dulled as of late. Could it have been because of Brain using him like with that spell for so long, or was it because of something else entirely?"
Silver Beard then thought about Fairy Tail. The guild of which Willy was with.
"That's right. That guild was the one who took my subject, and made him one of their own. They'll be quite a problem if they try to suade him from my plans," Silver Beard grumbled. "Like that old fossil, Makarov, and the rest of his pathetic wizards, he calls his family. Especially that conniving little wench, Mirajane. Does she think that she can just saunter in and try and seduce my little subject? He belongs to me! He's mine, and mine alone!"
He clenched his hand into a fist in anger, almost drawing blood, and slammed it on the table, making all the equipment that was on it jolt and clatter. His frown had practically become a scowl as he ground his teeth in anger; however, after a few seconds, he relaxed and unclenched his fists.
"Now, now. Easy there, Old Boy. No sense in losing yourself," Silver Beard continued to himself. "Besides, her time will come. It will come soon enough, and when that happens, I'll kill her. I'll kill her so much, that there won't be a trace of her left."
Then an idea came into his mind — an idea, which made a twisted and demonic smile tug at his cheeks.
"On second thought, I have a much better idea," Silver Beard cackled under his breath. "Once the toxin completely takes him over, I'll use him to kill every last one of those damned fairies! That'll teach those fools to mess with my property! Ooh, I can imagine how much carnage he'll cause them! And once those meddlesome bastards are out of my way, I will finally be able to achieve my goal, and all my pain and suffering will be gone, and I'll finally feel joy again! I'll finally be free of all of my suffering, and.. I'll be able to see that beautiful face again. That beautiful face of which I've longed for so long."
The mere thought of it made Silver Beard's smile change into a sentimental expression as he pulled out a photograph from his coat. It was a picture of himself, younger in age, with a young woman with short brown hair, and a young man with long black hair that was styled in a ponytail. He gazed at the picture for a good few seconds, the expression on his face filled with nostalgia and some sadness. After a few seconds, he put the photograph back into his pocket.
"I think that's enough sentimentality for one day," Silver Beard said. "It's time to put my plan into action. And to get things started, it's time for me to gather the pieces I need, and to get... reaquainted with some people."
He turned around behind him and walked over to a particular tank and then pressed a couple of dials and buttons next to it. It lit up on the inside, revealing inside there were six vials, all of which contained the same black ooze. Silver Beard gazed at the tubes inside and smiled proudly.
"Finally, all of my research is going to pay off, and finally, I get back what was stolen from me!" Silver Beard said. "And then, I will take what's rightfully mine, and destroy the very person who cursed and ruined my life!"
He opened his eyes and found himself gazing at the sky as he lay in a mysterious meadow filled with flowers. The sky was a bright blue, and the sun was shining, and a few clouds floating beside it here and there.
As he continued to stare up into the sky, he felt confused, wondering where he could be right now, but couldn't help but feel at peace the more he stared up at it as he lay on the soft grass. He felt so much at peace and so calm, that he started to feel a bit sleepy. He wanted to savor this serene scenery a bit longer, but he couldn't deny his body's wishes to sleep.
"I'll just rest my eyes for a bit more," he thought. "Just a little bit more."
His eyelids then slowly shut as he fell asleep once again, entering the darkness of his slumber. After a few minutes had passed, he opened his eyes again.
This time, the sky that was once blue was now red.
A deep, blood, red color.
This made him wake up immediately as he shot up, wondering what was going on. It was then that he took notice of his surroundings.
He was in a ruined city. Rubble laid out everywhere, some buildings were destroyed beyond repair, and small fires burned all around, giving the landscape a hellish look.
He stood up on his feet, looking around, feeling horrified as well as stupefied at this sight.
"Wh-What is this? Where... am I?"
He walked around, observing the destruction, trying to figure out where he was as he looked right to left.
He soon came to a wrecked building that was bigger than the rest. It was utterly wrecked beyond repair and unrecognizable.
He ventured towards the building, hoping to find out what it was, when he felt something underneath his foot, causing him to look down.
What he saw made up jump and recoil in horror.
It was a human arm connected to a body, which was half-buried underneath the rubble. A young man with chestnut brown hair that had welts, bruises, and even blood all over him. Not only that, but the body was lifeless.
And he wasn't the only one either.
Not too far away, there was another body that was draped over a piece of rock facedown, a young woman with short black hair. A third was a young man with blonde hair that was in a seating position against a flat piece of rubble, slumped over.
It seemed that every time that he saw a body, another one caught his eye. He soon realized that he was surrounded by them, all of which were beaten, bloody, and appeared to be dead as doornails.
His eyes widened in terror from this terrible sight, and wanted to scream, but no voice came out of his mouth. It was like someone stole his ability to scream or even cry out.
Feeling sick to his stomach, he felt the bile start to build up in his mouth, making him retch, making him clasp his hands over his mouth. When he did, he felt something warm and wet on his hands, which made him immediately look down on them.
They were stained red with blood, and had inadvertently smeared it on his face.
If he wasn't sickened and horrified enough, he certainly was now, even more so than before.
His mind was going a mile a minute, questioning why his hands had blood on them, and he was desperately trying to keep his composure, despite his sanity about to go from fear and terror.
"What the hell is this?! Why... am I..."
At that moment, he felt his blood run cold, and an icy cold chill ran through the back of his spine, making him freeze.
Someone was here, and whoever it was, was right behind him.
He didn't want to turn around. He told himself not to turn around knowing that whatever was behind him was going to kill him as soon as he looked, but his nagging curiosity of wanting to know what was behind him, wanted him to look to see exactly what the threat behind him was.
He slowly turned his head around and looked behind him.
Right in front of him, was a mysterious being that was humanoid and was the only thing that was unharmed. It gazed at him with eyes that were white, cold, and had an intent to kill.
He wanted to look away. He wanted to run away from this being, afraid that it wanted to kill him, but his body refused to move, staying rooted to the spot.
The being continued to stare at him as if it was waiting for him to make a move, like a predator waiting for his prey, then a wide, cruel, toothy smile spread on its cheeks as he lightly chuckled under his breath.
It was then that he gained the will to move his body, but he couldn't stand up. All he could do was scoot backward ,trying to move away. However, the being slowly walked towards him, not giving him a chance to escape, but also seemed to get off on torturing him.
"So you're still around are you? You're like a cockroach that never seems to die no matter what pesticide I give you," the being spoke in a demonic voice. "Well, sadly for you, I grow tired of this. After all, this is your fate. The fate that you were destined to follow in this world, whether you like it or not."
This made the boy flinch as the being's hand suddenly began to morph and change into a long sword and raised it above his head, preparing to strike.
Knowing that he was preparing to kill him, he scrambled to get up on his feet and took off running for his life, but then something shot past him from above, and before he had a chance to react, the being appeared right in front of him, his weaponed hand brought back ready to slice him.
"Now die, you weakling," the being said, as he swung his blade right at his neck.
WILLY'S POV
I woke up with a start letting out a loud yell. My heart was beating like a drum, my breathing was ragged like I had just been released from a chokehold, and my body was soaked with sweat. I rapidly looked around in my surroundings, making sure that I was still in my room of which I was, although it was still night out. As I sat there for a few moments processing what I had just dreamt about, but I shook my head, trying to calm myself down.
"It was just a dream," I told myself. "It was just a dream, nothing to be scared about."
I took a few more seconds to breathe calmly, and to ease my heart rate, then I got out of my bed and walked over to my window. It was still nighttime out, so everyone was most likely still asleep, but I, on the other hand, felt wide awake, a bit scared and confused.
"What was that dream all about?" I wondered to myself. "What did it mean?"
Sadly, there was no one to answer my questions as I continued to stare out my window, hoping the sight of the peaceful night would help ease the anxiety and fear in my heart.
