A/N: I've had this idea in my head for months now and I finally decided to just sit down and write it and Valentines Day seemed to be the perfect day to use that as an excuse to upload it.
This little bonus chapter takes places just a few days before Dimitri's tenth birthday.

Ethereal Moon 1173:
It was already bad enough that Ingrid was stealing much of Byleth's attention but now Glenn was getting a lot of it as well and he didn't even have to do anything to earn it. Dimitri didn't like the way that Glenn could get Byleth to smile at him or how her gaze would instantly go to the older boy, whenever he was nearby. Dimitri was Byleth's friend first! And so, it wasn't fair that she was paying more attention to others!
No matter what he did Byleth's focus would be divided quickly whenever Glenn was nearby, and he was annoyingly near them a lot. With his patience nearing its end, Sylvain stepped in with some advice. He had his doubts about it, but he was frustrated enough to do anything to get her attention again that consequences be damned.
Sylvain had suggested that Dimitri needed to prove that he was just as strong and grown up as Glenn, but despite all his best attempts, he couldn't come close to defeating Glenn at anything. When he was at his lowest, Felix had suggested that he should climb a tree. Climbing trees had always been considered dangerous so he was never allowed to do it and Glenn didn't climb trees, so the young prince had his doubts; until he remembered that Byleth liked to climb and then it suddenly became a great idea. He couldn't beat Glenn or Byleth in a fight or games but maybe climbing a tree would help him be seen as a grown up to Byleth.
The next problem in his plan came in the form of figuring out what tree to climb. Obviously, small ones were rejected, but the tall ones were also rejected on the bases that they were just too difficult. It took him almost an entire day, but he finally found the perfect tree, near the frozen pond. With a tree picked out, came the next difficult task of actually climbing it.
Strength was never going to be an issue but knowing how to utilize it was a different story. If he couldn't get a good hold on the tree than his strength was practically useless. It also didn't help that the sharp bark dug into his hands. But despite those issues he didn't give up and kept at it until he was ready to show off.
After a week of practicing Dimitri was ready to show off and have Byleth's attention all to himself again. With the help of Sylvain and Felix he was able to get Byleth to come, but unfortunately, she also came with Ingrid and Glenn, the later dominating all of Byleth's precious attention. No matter how many times he had shouted for her she would only spare him a few, measly second.
Frustrated he forsake the tree that he had been practicing on and choose the slightly larger tree, next to it. A smirk danced on his lips when he heard Glenn to tell him to stop, but he wouldn't, that was until Byleth asked him to stop and he nearly wavered. But thanks to Sylvain's and Felix's cheering he pressed on.
The new tree turned out to be a bigger challenge than he was expecting, and he struggled to find a good place to grab onto. The large branch, he needed to reach and to claim victory with, was just out of reach. Under the ideal branch was a tiny and thin branch that he knew wouldn't support his weight but maybe for just a moment it would. With only the thought of impressing Byleth he reached out for the branch and for a second it held, but when he put more off his weight onto it, it snapped. With no support he fell and shut his eyes before he hit the floor.
His head collided against something, but his impact wasn't as painful as he had expected. Slowly he opened his eyes to discover that he had landed on Byleth and there was a large, red mark from where their foreheads smacked against each other's. Th others were quick to surrounded them, expressing their concerns, until it dawned on Dimitri what had happened.
"By?! Are you okay?" He asked as he quickly got off of her, but she didn't let him get too far.
"Are you okay?" she asked back, in her usual flat tone. To anyone else it might have sounded like she didn't really care but he could see her genuine concern by the ever so slight downturn of her eyes and her gentle pats that checked for any injuries on him. A light blush colored his cheeks.
"I am okay." The others released a sigh of relief, while Byleth simply nodded her head.
The little moment was broken by Glenn placing his weight on Dimitri, who complained and was ignored. "Now you have gone and done it, Your Highness," Glenn said with an exasperated tone. Dimitri looked at the knight-in-training, who shook his head. "How could you do such a thing?"
"I-I just wanted By to look at me… I did not mean for anything bad to happen."
Glenn gave him a sly smirk before hastily going back to shaking his head and making tsking noises. Glenn got up and walked over to Byleth, where he stood behind her, all while continuing to make tsking sounds. After a few seconds of the older boy continuing to make that sound did Dimitri finally start to squirm.
"Just to get our lovely By's attention Your Highness stole something incredibly important from her!"
"I did not steal anything!"
"But you did!" Glenn placed his hands on Byleth's shoulder and gave a stern look to the prince, or at least it looked like one to Dimitri.
Panic began to take root in the young boy. "I did not mean too!" he shouted as he grabbed Byleth's hands. "I will return it!" He looked into her eyes as he shouted that. "Right away! I promise!" He thought he heard Sylvain snickering in the background but he didn't dwell on it, and instead stared into Byleth's eyes.
"That is not possible." The color drained from Dimitri's face and his eyes flew up to look at Glenn and the older boy just shook his head again. "Once it has been taken, it can never be returned!" Dimitri's jaw dropped and he struggled with what to say.
"He is right," Sylvain added, and if Dimitri had been in a clearer state of mind, he would have noticed Sylvain's poorly hidden smile. "You are so mean to By."
"I-I did not mean too! Honest!" the prince shouted as he returned his gaze to Byleth. His mind never registered the little tilt of her head.
"You stole By's precious virginity!" Glenn declared and all the younger kids let out horrified gasps, while Sylvain failed to stiffen his laughter.
"What?" Byleth asked. "No, he di-" Glenn didn't allow her to finish as he we quick to cover her mouth with one of his hands.
"Now our poor By will never be allowed to get married! And it is all Your Highness' fault!"
"No! By I am so sorry!" Dimitri cried out.
She pulled Glenn's hand away, who was struggling and failing to not laugh. "You didn't ste-" Once again he covered her mouth.
"I will make it up to you By! I…I will marry you!"
Glenn released her as he needed both of his hands to cover his mouth to try and somewhat hide his laughter, while Sylvain had long since given up on trying. Byleth stared at the blonde boy before her and shook her head. She pulled at her hands to free them, but Dimitri wouldn't let go.
"You didn't ste-" Once again Glenn prevented her from finishing, by practically falling on her. Pushing down on her, he looked Dimitri in the eye and ignored the complaints from the girl.
"Such a bad prince," Glenn said before he quickly gave into his laughter.
Unable to contain his laughter, Glenn started to walk away. Sylvain was huddled over holding his side as he gasped for air. Dimitri never picked up on the fact that the older boys were teasing him as he was too preoccupied with Byleth. He stared into her eyes trying to figure out what she was feeling but her expression was completely blank. He thought about apologizing again but he didn't think that would fix anything.
"By, I will marry you! I promise!"
"You don't hav-"
"No! I will!" He gave her hands that he still held a squeeze and he missed her incredibly tiny pout.
She shook her head, and he felt his heart drop. She was mad and he knew that she had every right to be. He was a terrible friend. Unable to think of what to say he repeated his declaration to marry her again and she just gave him a small bob of her head.
None of his friends noticed Byleth's displeasure and went about planning on how to go about him marrying her. She never said anything and listened quietly as she always did. Normally he would see that as a good sign; Byleth being Byleth but given everything he wasn't so sure.
"I do not think you will be able to marry By," Felix said quietly as he fiddled with his hands.
Forgetting all about his concern for Byleth, Dimitri whipped his head around swiftly to stare at Felix. Felix shrank a little, but Dimitri didn't notice. "And why not?" the prince yelled, and the shy boy flinched.
"Because she is not a noble," Ingrid said bitterly, "they will not even let her go to your party." At that point Sylvain finally stopped laughing and joined the little group.
"Then…" Dimitri started but quickly stopped when he realized that he had no idea what to say next. Defeatedly he looked at Byleth, who was unbothered by the whole thing, but he didn't really notice. Looking into her eyes he found his resolve.
"Then I will marry By without their permission!"
"You don't ha-" Byleth was barely able to say before the prince, once again, interrupted her.
"Once By and I are married they will not be able to do anything because they will have to respect the goddess' blessings!" Both Felix and Ingrid cheered but Sylvain remained quiet.
Dimitri didn't waste any time on planning their makeshift wedding. Sylvain was in charge of conducting the "ceremony" as he had been the only one in the group to have attended a wedding before, and therefore, knew what was required despite him telling the prince that he didn't remember anything. Ingrid was in charge of getting Byleth a dress from her older sister that had also been visiting the castle, as well as getting Byleth ready. Dimitri and Felix were in charge of finding the perfect location for the ceremony and also decorating it. All throughout the planning none of them took notice of Byleth's attempts to try and stop it.
It didn't take very long for everything to come together. They even managed to get Byleth into a dress, though she was not pleased, especially with how cold she was, and she made that known. Dimitri's and Felix's chosen spot was in the garden because Byleth liked flowers, even though there were none growing at that time. Sylvain had voiced his concerns about his abilities to do a good job and such, but they were ignored (along with Byleth's complaints) because they had no one else to ask but Glenn, and Dimitri didn't want the older boy's help.
Dimitri and Byleth stood before Sylvain at the end of the "aisle" and the prince was fidgeting. Sylvain talked about stuff related to a marriage ceremony, and Dimitri got the feeling that a lot of it wasn't right but since he had nothing to compare it too, he kept his mouth shut. His gaze would flicker all around but never landed on Byleth because whenever he did so, he felt like there were butterflies in his stomach. He wanted to work up the nerve to look at her for a long enough period of time so that he could see if she was liking the ceremony or not, but he could never do so.
"Are you okay?" Byleth's soft voice caused Dimitri to jump. He looked at her and the butterflies, in his stomach, took flight. The look of concern she had, had the butterflies calming down some. "You don't need to marry me. You didn-"
"No! I want too!" Dimitri shouted, interrupting Sylvain, who gave him a small glare in return. Dimitri grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes. "By, I am not marrying you only because I stole your virginity."
"You didn-" She tried to speak again, only to be interrupted again.
"I am doing it because…" He felt his cheeks begin to warm. "Because if we get married that means you and I will spend the rest of our lives together, right? That means we will always be together, right?" She nodded. "Then I want us to get married! I want to be with you always!"
Her lips tilted downwards, ever so slightly that nearly everyone would have missed it. His throat constricted when he looked at the tiny frown. His grip on her hands weakened considerably until he recalled something, and he went back to holding her hands with a strong grip.
"Of course, you can remain a mercenary!" Her little frown turned into an almost nonexistent smile and he felt a warmth in his chest. "You just have to make sure you come back to me, okay?"
"Okay," she said with a little nod and he started to smile widely.
Sylvain started from where he left off with his own large smile accompanying his face. The butterflies had left Dimitri's stomach and he swung his and Byleth's hands back and forth, until Ingrid subtly told him to stop. He was so lost in his good mood that he didn't even notice people approaching them until they spoke up.
"What are you children playing?" Dimitri's father asked, and he laughed a little when he saw his son jump.
Both his father and Jeralt had join them. Forgetting all about the fact that he was in the middle of a ceremony, Dimitri rushed over to the adults and dragged Byleth along as he still held one of her hands. The little prince's smile grew when his father bent down to be eye level with him.
"By and I are getting married!" Dimitri loudly declared. He missed how his father's smile became strained and the subtle glances he sent at Jeralt.
"You and By cannot get married."
"Why not?" the young boy yelled as he stomped his foot. He glared at his father, who didn't seem to mind.
"Because you need to be adults to get married. Maybe when you are older you-" His father didn't finish that thought and instead flinched when he heard Jeralt clear his throat.
"I have to marry By now!" Dimitri once again stomped his foot.
His father tried to reach for him, but he didn't allow it and smacked his father hand away. He gave his father a glare and the king sighed. When his father turned his gaze onto Byleth, Dimitri blocked his view. The prince knew what that look meant. It was his father's way of asking for Byleth to talk to him and he wasn't going to allow it. Byleth was too good. She would suffer in silence and he wasn't going to let that happen!
"I have to marry By because I stole her virginity!"
"What?!" Both fathers yelled, with one being in a considerably darker tone.
With shaky hands the king gripped his son's shoulders. "Dimitri what did you do?" his father asked in an equally shaky voice.
"I fell out of a tree and landed on By. Glenn said I stole her virginity and because of that she will never be able to get married. So, I have to marry By!" His father released a large sigh of relief and that annoyed the young prince.
"I thought you could only lose your virginity by having s-" Byleth started to say before her father quickly silenced her by shouting her name and covering her mouth with one of his hands. Dimitri couldn't see her mouth, but he could tell that she was annoyed by the ever so slight narrowing of her eyes.
The king patted Dimitri on the head, pulling his son's attention back onto him. "You did not steal By's virginity."
"Yes, I did! And I will marry By to protect her!" His father sighed.
Byleth pushed her father away to stand next to Dimitri. She patted his head and put a stop to his tears before they could really start. Silently he pulled her in for a tight hug and buried his face into her chest. When she began to smack him on the back, he relaxed his grip considerably, but he refused to let her go.
"Aster, you didn't steal my virginity," she said, and he peaked up at her. "You never could because I would just give it to you." The adults yelled out her name, but she ignored them and continued to pat Dimitri's head.
"Me too, By!" Dimitri shouted as he lifted his head up to look at her better. "I will give you my virginity too!" In the background he could hear Sylvain laughing but he didn't care.
"W-wait Sir Jearlt!" He heard his father yell but because Byleth commanded all of the prince's attention, he didn't even spare his father a glance. "Regicide is bad for business, I assure you!" He heard his father squeak, but Dimitri didn't care, he was enjoying too much hugging Byleth and having her pat his head. He wasn't happy about having to wait to be an adult to marry her, but if that was all he needed to do before he could spend the rest of his life with her, then he would just deal with it and wait.
A/N: When Dimitri turned ten, he was no longer allowed to sleep with Byleth. It was for a lot of reason, but this event played a big role in that decision.
I would like to tell you that the next proper update will be up soon, but I can't. I'm nearing the end of my quarter which means I have a bunch of papers due. So, the next update will probably not be until March, sorry.
