Pokémon: Wings of Beginnings

Chapter 14: The Place to Belong

June 19th, 2020

Mt. Coronet

A traveller looked about a cave and up the slopes. He looked down at a pamphlet about the organization that helped protect the world from the beings called Dulled. He heard about the recent news about it and the current reputation it had. About being called heartless soldiers but he wanted to know their side of the story. He took a deep breath and entered the cave. Mt. Coronet was the name of the mountain where the cave was and he felt the magnetic fields it had. He got up from some stairs and looked around. No humans were around as he took off his coat and looked around.

This traveller was not a human but a toadman. He had a pair of massively round cyan coloured bumps with black edges on his head, slightly appearing to cover some of his red coloured eyes. His hands had three fingers rather bulbous in shape and are rather large, though the coat sleeves by the middle appear to sway inwards deeper. There are also the form of bumps on his hands, shoulders, and hand that are shaped from the fabric. The visible underside of his body from his mouth had a cyan colour to it. He wore a traveller's gear; a brown vest with two pockets, a pair of brown pants, gloves, and boots, a red scarf, and a green long sleeved shirt underneath.

He looked at the bodies of water he needed to cross to get to the higher sections of the mountain. He breathes and he got into the waters, moving through them with little difficulty. He was born in waters and lived through it. It wasn't a hard task to get around with. His clothes felt damp but it didn't bother him as he went on until he got to the other side. He looked at his damp clothes as the cold winds hit him. It didn't bother him that much while he snapped his fingers. The dampness of his clothes lessened as the water went out from the fabric as he continued onward.

The way to their HQ...He took a deep breath and wondered where it was. Not much found its location and he trusted his own instincts on the way to get there. He continued his trek upward while he lifted his shirt to reveal some ripped abs and looked at the part of his right rib. He willed for something to appear and there was a Dynacrystal.

This red crystal... it made many view him so differently than other Pokémon... He could feel how much it enhanced his ability to release his paralytic fluids and vibrations. He also had his hearing more enhanced to pick up fainter sounds.

He looked around and walked a bit some more and was met by a blizzard when he went outside. He pulled his shirt back down with the chilling winds exposed around him. Better be safe than sorry. He tried his ability and looked as vibrations of the vapor around him that created a wall to prevent the cold from reaching him. He sighed, they weren't strong enough to block most of them but it was 50% less cold than before. He continued his steps and focused his hearing by blocking the sound of the blizzard's blow and for any more sounds. He heard some cameras move.

He looked at some kilometers away. A camera protected by some sphere that protected it from the cold blizzard. That must be part of their defensive measures. He continued his way and used his hearing to know if there were some traps.

"They must have been able to monitor plenty around even at their outwards surroundings..." he murmurs to himself, trudging through the snow-covered floor.

Communications Room

"Say, how are you doing there?" Safka asked with concern.

"I-I'm fine, Ms. Safka." Iron breathed out. "I...I'm a bit shaken but...I-I'll manage."

"Okay, make sure to get some of the food or else I might eat it~" Safka sang as an attempt to cheer him out.

"Thank you for your concern...I'll...Try harder." Iron nodded and resumed his work.

Safka looked at him while she returned to Zakh's side. She watched the Shiny Metang go through the surveillance of the camera around Mt. Coronet. He watched each and every monitors attentively. Never to let an intruder inside.

"The rookie's been tense for a month now after that event." Safka muttered.

"...You think." Zakh utters after a long amount of silence. Close to him is an empty glass. Aspirin dissolved in water again.

"I'm sorry I got too drunk." Safka expressed sadly. "I've heard about what happened with Squad Seven. Iron experienced everything?"

"...Yes."

"...Say, he never stopped the job but went to decide to be doing surveillance." Safka looked around. "It's been a month since he stopped doing communications and decided with the checking of the area around the HQ. His brother is also concerned about him."

"...I know... Heard so much questions that is enough to express for a straight month."

Safka nodded and continued her work of checking the map of the world around. To find something that could be a potential Dulled threat but found none. She looked at Zakh. "Anything about that Mega Stone?" Safka asked. "And has Duonter...woken up?"

"...No." Zakh shakes his head, slamming a file beside him. "Nothing comes out of the ordinary."

Safka looked at the file and opened it. She read around the reports, the description of the one Zakh and Iron saw. Then by the fall of the last member aside from Luigi, he screamed in despair and fell unconscious. A retrieval team had arrived to pick up the bodies and take Luigi back to HQ. The bodies were horribly mutilated, like a beast had savagely attacked them. Then the picture of the spear was different.

"This spear..." Safka muttered. "It looked different than the one he mainly used."

"...Yeah... Like... some sort of distorted form..."

"And..." She looked over the picture of another Garchomp. "...the signatures you saw belonged to him."

"...Huh." Zakh dryly responds.

"...He..." Safka began before they heard Iron call them.

"Mr. Zakh? Ms. Safka?" Iron called. "Someone's here, from the first camera waving at us."

"Huh?" Zakh looked over.

"A Seismitoad?" Safka analysed. "Hmm...He's average about terms of looks for his species."

"...Hold on..." Zakh typed in some commands and changed the vision, presenting the vision as black with the outlining of figures seen... and a red signature from the Seismitoad.

"Is that..." Iron began when he looked at the Seismitoad's right rib.

"Dynacrystal signatures." Zakh answers for Iron. "Iron, let him in."

Iron nodded and pressed a button.

Mt. Coronet

The Seismitoad sighed about doing this. Waving at the camera rather recklessly. He didn't know about doing so might be a danger to his life but he knew that he needed to find them and this way was the only way for him to find the HQ's location. He heard something open up and looked a wall opening up... or rather, appearing to disappear. Or how did it work? He didn't know, but for certain, they are allowing him to enter.

He headed over to the newly presented passage, looking at it right in front of it. He took a few looks around before he cautiously heads in. Once he entered, it closed behind him. He looked at the darkness that greeted him before light appeared. Surprisingly. There are no visible lighting in the rocky surroundings. The Seismitoad looks surprised at this presentation.

He heads down a descending slope of steps, continuing to look around at the visible area presented around him. It was surprising for one, does this mean that they are slightly lower from here? As he reached the bottom of the steps, he could see light from the end of the path, an exit.

He continued to walked pass the exit and there...He covered his eyes from the sunlight and was greeted by a large building that was quite massively tall and wide, mainly having white in their painting around the many raised mountains around it. He could see some by the right side, seeing some form of aircraft leave the hangars. There was a visible ranch by the left. But what's more surprising... are Pokémon. So many are seen from where he stood.

He looked around some more with awe and walked toward the building. Once he was a few meters away from it, all eyes went to him.

So many... just looking at him... Well, except for one standing in front of the glass doors.

The Seismitoad looked at the person there and heard several buzzes made. He scratched his head, the sound when one made a mistake in entering something. He knew some technologies with his skills.

"How do these mechanical things work again..." He could hear the self-talking of that insectoid there.

He looked in surprise about what he wore. No shirt to reveal detailed muscles which was much more detailed than what an insectoid can have. The Seismitoad looked at what that Golisopod was doing.

...

...

...

...

Couldn't insert the card into the slot? Maybe he needed to help. He called out to the Golisopod.

"Hm?" The Golisopod turned to meet the Seismitoad.

He looked at this imposing bugman in front of him. He never realized of how imposing he was. He stood there in silence before he eyed the keycard. "...This..." The Seismitoad looked back at the card scanner. He swiped it at a moderate pace and heard it beep with a green light. The door opened.

"Oh!" The Golisopod jumped. "How did you do that so easily?" He asks the Seismitoad.

The Seismitoad took a nervous gulp. He didn't have any much contact with technology that much but he knew how to use the basic functions of it. He looked at this particular Golisopod. He appeared quite aged, yes. Yet was still incredibly built and handsome despite it. Three katanas were there, he used all three? What's with his shirtlessness?

"Hm? You must be new here." The Golisopod observes, putting an arm under his head. The Seismitoad gulped as he did so. The insectoid arm under his head felt rough and he could feel the strength it held. "...Hmm, definitely new here... Someone with a Dynacrystal..." The Golisopod observes.

He looked down to see one arm lifting his shirt and felt his right rib. "Over there." He nods. He looked back at him before he heard some shrieks.

"Sensei is actually into young people!"

"Arceus! Sensei!"

He backed away and placed his shirt down. How old was he? Himself, he was just 22. This Golisopod was twice his age now.

"Is something the matter?" The Golisopod asks.

He felt some air hit them and the Seismitoad looked to see a Corviknight fly down to greet them. He gulped again, an older Pokémon was before them and with his appearance, he looked more terrifying than the Golisopod. He stood straight for a bit while he held his clothes down. Was he another like this Golisopod? Was he a...

"Lainuiki. You weren't able to open the door again?" The Corviknight asks. The Golisopod scratched his head. This wasn't the first time he did this? "These mechanical oddities always appear to fuddle me. I did swipe the card, but it refuses entry." The Golisopod replies.

The Seismitoad remained silent before both eyes turned to him. He gulped loudly with much nervousness. He accidentally called the Corviknight the most awkward thing possible.

"P-Pedobird!"

The Corviknight was taken aback at this word and instinctively gathered wind around him. The Seismitoad looked around and then he felt a gust. That picked him off of his feet... and in an instant, found himself shot to a mountain wall.

He let out a gasp and then everything went dark. The Corviknight took some breaths while the Seismitoad fell down with a thud.

WINGS HQ: Medical Wing

"You mean this Seismitoad called you that and then you instinctively sent him to the wall." Pentaster grumbled while he sat on the chairs near the bed the Seismitoad laid unconscious with bandages around his head. "He must be in shock when he saw Lainuiki half-naked and mistaken you as one."

Gardious sighed at this and heard the Seismitoad mumble and open his eyes. He looked around the medical wing in curiosity and saw the two.

"Wh-where-ah!"

The Seismitoad flinched as he saw Gardious. Gardious looked down at him carefully with the same stern look.

"He has a Dynacrystal like what Stor said." Pentaster told Gardious. "Let me ask, who are you and why did you go all the way to WINGS?"

"I... I-I... I..." The Seismitoad stutters, uncomfortable with the glare Gardious is giving him.

"Yes?" Pentaster inquired.

"I..." A gulp. "I want to find out about WINGS... That... you aren't any sort of cold-blooded animals they are calling you..."

Both were taken aback.

"Y-You don't believe?"

"N...No... I don't believe that you are heartless beings... that they call you..." The Seismitoad says.

"I...I see...Th-Thank you, Mr..." Pentaster choked out.

"Swamp... Cornus..."

"Right..." Pentaster looked at him and noted his clothing. "You're not from here. Are you perhaps a Unovan?"

"Y... Yes." Swamp breathes.

"A traveller?"

"Yes..."

He looked at how awkward Swamp felt while Gardious looked at him. This old Corviknight was younger than this Starmie, who looked a century old yet still remained well-maintained.

"Commander." Pentaster calmed him down.

"...Alright." Gardious breathed and closed his eyes.

"...Commander?" Swamp inquires.

"Yes, he is our Commander, Gardious Galeci-"

Swamp jumped out of bed and bowed on the ground in front of Gardious. This stance...The bow for forgiveness. "I-I'm so sorry! For calling you that before! I never realized you! Your po...position!" He shouts. Gardious was taken aback. This guy's...

"Um...Cornus..." Pentaster muttered.

"I'm so sorry... I'm sorry... Forgive me..."

Gardious sighed. "...It's alright. I forgive you. Just a slip of the tongue you did."

Pentaster nodded and looked at him. "So, what will you do now?" He asked.

"...I... I... Can I stay around WINGS?" Swamp asked.

Gardious looked at him. "Stay in WINGS?" he repeated. Swamp nodded. "Maybe the rest will still look differently even if I leave and tell them... Maybe they will peg me in their eyes as an uncaring monster..."

"Do you...always?" Pentaster asked. "Family?"

"..." A shake of Swamp's head.

"Your hometown?"

Another shake of his head.

"I see...To answer about your question why we were called that by those is because we forget those who died. Not by choice but..." Pentaster pointed at the top of his core and something went out. He was shocked, a Dynacrystal? "It takes away those memories of whom we loved."

"The... same as..." Swamp breathes.

Gardious showed his left breast. Swamp stared at the red crystal which emerged from there. He looked back at himself and pulled his shirt up. They looked at his right rib and revealed it too. Pentaster and Gardious looked at each other.

"I guess...you were driven out of the village you lived in because of that?" Pentaster guessed.

"..." One nod.

"I see...Don't worry, young man. We won't abandon you." Pentaster comforted.

"...O... Okay..." Swamp weakly nods.

"We should give him a... room to stay in." Gardious turned to Pentaster. "And assign someone to guide him."

"If that's the case..." Pentaster turned a device on and spoke in it. "Granought, we need you here."

"Huh? Did something happen, Professor?"

"A recruit's here, I want you to take him around." Pentaster heard a disappointed sigh. "It's not a woman this time but I know you could connect to him."

"Oh, okay..." the voice spoke.

The line was cut and Pentaster turned to Swamp. "I forgot to introduce myself, I am Pentaster Aquarius, the Head of Research and Second in Command. I look forward to working with you."

Swamp looked at him with wonder. "Pentaster... Aquarius... Head of Research, Second in Command..." Swamp mumbles.

"Cornus?"

"H-Huh?"

"You're repeating what I said."

"O-oh... I..."

"Just want to remember it? Don't worry, I won't let you forget me."

"O... Okay..." Swamp nods. The door opened and there, he saw a Rhyperior trudge toward them. He looked over the newcomer on the bed.

"There you are, Granought." Pentaster called. "This is the newcomer who came over to stay with us."

"Oh... Hi." The Rhyperior greets Swamp.

The Seismitoad looked at him and stood up. A companion he would come with. He reached down for something and was shocked when he felt none.

"Oh, about this?" Pentaster held a notebook in telekinetic lift. "Here."

Swamp turned to the notebook and grabbed it. He looked at it quietly. The same dirtied brown cover he always knew. He held it close, safe and sound.

"That notebook...No, journal." Pentaster analysed. "It's the type in which you can add more pages into it once filled up."

Swamp nodded quite happily. He was glad that the notebook was fine. "I... Yes. This notebook... it's... important to me." He says.

"Alright, Granought, you may show him around." Pentaster looked back at him. "This is Brandt Granought, he may not look like it but he is younger than you."

Brandt was shocked about revealing his age. "Huh!? Really!?" Brandt exclaimed.

"Yes." Gardious replies. Brandt looked back at him. "Commander!" He says more loudly.

Swamp searched for a nearby pen and saw Gardious hand him one. He looked at him with a surprised look present. This act of kindness was nowhere near the description of "cold-blooded soldiers."

"You needed one, correct?"

"Y... Yes. Thank you, uh, Commander." Swamp said.

Gardious nodded as Brandt urged Swamp to come with him. Once they left, Gardious turned to Pentaster.

"Wondering why I chose Granought?" Pentaster asked.

"Yes." Gardious speaks.

"It's because he didn't know about love before he got here, remember?" Pentaster told him. "It would help them both to understand more about that they deserve to know love. Based on the first impression, he doesn't seem to be the social type. Must be because of his days traveling meant that he hadn't experience any comraderie. He needed someone who can relate with him."

"...Hmm... I see..." Gardious nods. Those memories seeing children haunted by their lost pasts...

"I know Granought can help with too." Pentaster looked down at a picture. "He was an abandoned child...Why was that?"

"..." Gardious looked down. No one could remember, but possibly back then, he lost his parents... then taken by a "new one".

WINGS HQ

"So, Swamp Cornus was it?" Brandt asked as the two of them walked down the hallways.

"Yes. Yes..." Swamp replied to Brandt. "So... WINGS HQ..."

"Where we lived around here and what we call home. What do you think about it on your first impression?"

"It's... really large..." Swamp mumbles. He looks. "I noticed that some of the furniture have some feathers or wing motifs..."

"Our insignia, WINGS got its name there." Brandt looked to see Swamp writing something on his notebook. "Hm? Wait, is that about Professor?"

"Oh, this... I..." Swamp tapped onto the notebook. "I record all I've learnt about every day possible... it helps me to know that some things happened..."

"A journal, huh." Brandt mused as he read it. "Hey, your handwriting is great!"

"Oh, um... Thank you..."

"Hey, no need to be so modest!" Brandt laughed. "I am he-" He spotted Claire incoming and stood quiet. She looked at him and saw Swamp beside him.

"Huh?" Swamp looked puzzled, not having seen Claire yet. "Brandt?"

"Hm?" Claire walked over and Swamp noticed her. "Brandt? Who is this?"

"Hey, Claire, this is the new guy here." Brandt told her. "G-Go on, introduce yourself to her!"

"Huh?" Claire turned to Swamp. "Her?"

"I mean...!" Brandt jolted.

"Brandt, I'm not a woman!" Swamp shot back.

"I can see it clearly with those arms and pecs on your shirt!" Brandt exclaimed.

"...Weird..." Claire scratched her head. She looked back at Swamp. "By the way, Claire Leonhart."

"...Oh, uh, Swamp Cornus." Swamp looked at her.

Brandt jolted at this. He looked between them. "Y-Yeah, I am showing him around." Brandt told her. "A senior should show a junior around even if the junior is older than me."

"Oh..." Claire nods slowly. "So... I'll leave you guys be? I've got a bit of things to do."

"Oh, um...Okay." Brandt muttered. "I'll just show him around here."

"Okay. See ya." Claire waved and headed off to her destination.

Brandt sighed and slouched. "I did it again."

"What do you mean?" Swamp looked puzzled.

"Swamp, I...I..." Brandt sighed. "I want to marry you."

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

"...Wh-WHAT!?" Swamp screamed.

"Wait, you aren't Claire!" Brandt screamed back. "Wait, what's with that gun? Huh?"

"Huh!?"

He pointed down and Swamp turned to look to see that a blue .45 calibur magnum was on Swamp's hand. Wait, was this his weapon?

"O-oh, I..." Swamp stared at his handgun. "...Ahhhh!" He aimed at Brandt and fired a stream out of it. Brandt yelped.

"I am sorry, okay!" Brandt exclaimed.

"I... I..." Swamp stutters.

He looked at himself. The pulse about this bond with another...It was foreign but he remembered when he used to do this all the time. This feeling...He forgot why he liked this. He looked at Brandt who stood up and shivered from the water. "Water..." Brandt shivered. "I always hate when it targets me."

"You're... really vulnerable to water..." Swamp speaks.

"Yes." Brandt muttered while he scratched his head. "Also the same could be said with Grass."

"G-Grass..."

"Right, you too." Brandt scratched the back of his head. "Better learn some Ice-type moves to counter it."

"M... Mhm..." Swamp agrees. "...S...So, where are we going to next?"

"Oh, first your room." Brandt told him. "It isn't much but we could give you a new uniform."

"Oh..." Swamp followed Brandt until they stopped in front a door.

"Hm..." Brandt looked at it and tried to remember what it was. "I think this is it. You'll be staying here for now on. You can decorate it later, for now, this is your room. Better register yourself. Hey, are you crying?"

"Ah..." Swamp rubbed his eyes. "...I... I... I don't know how to say it..." He never found something to call home. A room to stay asleep on and only sleep on the ground and the woods. Treated as an outcast by everyone because of the Dynacrystal but now...

"I... feel so... at home here..." He felt his chest. His beatings within him...

"It's alright." Brandt smiled. "You're part of WINGS now."

This feeling was so faint and it was a long time since he felt this warmth. A wonderful and great feeling. It was so long since he wondered aimlessly around this world.

"W...WINGS..."

"Warriors InterNational Guardian Security." Brandt elaborated. "We protect this world because we want to."

Swamp looked at him and nodded. "Al... Alright. Protect this world...

He looked at the door and Brandt opened it. The room was designed with a water theme with aqua blue wallpaper on the walls. There is a kelp-coloured desk by the corner of the room beside the glass doors which had their curtains spread. Looking by the side, Swamp noticed a coral theme with the wardrobe present. He looked at the bed, a rather fluffy bed with a soothing design to appear as an open clamshell.

He took note of the dust around. "This place..."

"Made for Water-types." Brandt answered. "Well-maintained for recruits who would join. We can't let newcomers stay in non-maintained rooms, no?" Brandt pat his back in a friendly way. "Come on, you can change into your uniform if you want to and ask the tailor later for changes you want."

"A... uniform..." Swamp mumbles. He looked at what Brandt wore and at the other members passing by. "You're-"

"Yeah, I am wearing the same uniform." Brandt answered. "I just made some changes to it."

"Oh..." Swamp nodded to show his understanding.

"Okay, get to changing." Brandt nodded and let him inside.

Swamp nods and he watches the door close. He then took the initiative to lock the door for his privacy. He opened the wardrobe and looked at the uniform. It looked similar to the other members that lacked any modifications and he wondered about what he'll want it to look like. He took off his clothes and fitted them on and looked at the mirror. After some time contemplating of what he wanted to look like with these, he nodded and met with Brandt.

WINGS HQ: Training Grounds

"So, what do you think of the food here?" Brandt asked. "Nothing like the ones you had in your travels?"

"Yeah, it's... really different..." Swamp tells Brandt. "It's... It tastes really good..." Brandt looked at the new uniform Swamp wore with the modifications he wanted. It was now a short brown jacket with an aquamarine shirt underneath. Long brown pants, gloves and boots are present in his clothing. There appears to be a mouth mask hanging around his neck.

"Hm...This is some style you have." Brandt complimented. "It fits the traveller motif you have."

"Oh, yes..." Swamp agrees.

"Alright, the next thing that should be done is how you measure up in combat." Brandt looked at the targets. "That's what Commander have us do before we are assigned in a group. Let's see what you got."

Swamp nodded and looked at his hand, summoning his handgun. He remained holding it with one hand and aimed, firing at the targets present. Brandt watched as the shots of water sped to the other end of the training grounds.

He looked over the accuracy.

"Hm...Not as accurate as Sunai's." Brandt looked at where they landed before he saw some vibrations on them.

"Sunai?" Swamp asks.

"He's that Inteleon who talks too much." Brandt answered. "He's pretty smart and handy with a gun. Although, your accuracy isn't a good as his and those vibrations..." He looked as the targets appear to have something secreted on them. Poison?

Brandt gulped. "That's a terrifying ability you have." Brandt commented. "It isn't a bad thing and where have you learned how to-"

Swamp rushed in a practice dummy and Brandt saw him do several impactful blows in increasing succession, watching the body turn and blocked by other limbs.

"Hm...You know a lot about Krav Maga and MMA?" Brandt looked at the way he moved.

Swamp turned after he stopped the practice dummy and turned to meet him. "Oh, that..."

"Where did you learn those?" Brandt asked.

"That, I..." Swamp paused for a while. "...don't remember."

"Muscle memory." Brandt nodded and held him by the shoulder. "You don't have to fear forgetting us. We'll be there for you."

"I... oka-" Swamp jolted when he looked somewhere. Brandt looked and saw the reason why.

It was their Sensei.

"Oh...Him." Brandt laughed a bit. "He's...always like that and don't worry about him too much with his style."

"...Oh..." Swamp looked down slightly. "Who... who is he, anyway?"

"Sensei Takan Lainuiki." Brandt answered. "He frequently visits the HQ at times from his travels."

"Takan Lainuiki..." Swamp mumbles. "Was he... returning here today?"

"Yeah." Brandt affirmed while he saw Takan look over the dummy Swamp practiced on.

"Hmm... Those are quite some precise blows through these points..." Takan notices, observing the state. He turns to Swamp. "You are well-versed in these close quarters combat..."

Swamp gulped while Brandt looked at him.

"Try to relax."

"...O...Okay..." Swamp responded.

He took a deep breath and looked at Takan. "...Afternoon, Sensei." He greets.

Takan nods. "And afternoon... Hm, Cornus."

"Yeah, a newcomer here." Brandt explained. "He just came here and decided to stay around here. Maybe help us in missions too."

"I see." Takan nods. "It is heartening to see some arrive here on their own decisions." He looked at Swamp and placed a hand on his shoulder. He shook a bit before he calmed himself down and looked at Takan from eye-to-eye.

"Sensei... could you... train me?" Swamp requested. "I would like to become stronger..."

Takan crossed his other arms and eyed him with an analysing look. After a couple of seconds, he nodded.

"He'll train you then." Brandt confirmed.

"R...Right!" Swamp nods.

WINGS HQ: Medical Laboratory

"Cornus, are you ready?" Pentaster asked from the observation room with Gardious beside him with Swamp taking off his clothes that he was now only in his underwear made his way to a bed.

"Yes..." Swamp affirms.

"Alright, try to relax as you lie down. It will take a few hours so you can sleep while we scan your body."

Swamp nods and he laid on his back by the bed, relaxing himself to drive himself to slumber.

Pentaster nodded and initiated the process and had Swamp enter the CT Scan. He looked around the body parts and his Dynacrystal. Gardious looked from behind and spotted some parts of his body being healed.

"A traveller." Pentaster analysed. "Only used his survival skills and first-aid on wounds. By the way how rugged his body looked, he must had fought against Dulled in the past." Pentaster looked at Gardious.

"Yes..." Gardious nodded. "Being able to handle them on his lonesome..."

"He got the experience and skills needed." Pentaster looked deeper and was surprised. "Did he really explore some ruins?" He noted the bruises he had weren't from Dulled but from some ruins we never ventured deeper before.

Gardious nodded at this and pondered about his skills when they were to traverse inside ruins and caves. Being able to detect traps? He thought about those who have the same expertise as him. He could be useful in ruin exploration missions.

"Commander, any recommendations?" Pentaster asked.

"Exploration missions..." Gardious read. "Perhaps those of relics yet to be explored..."

"I see." Pentaster nodded. "I'll continue the analysis and then if he is done, I can send him back to his room."

"Alright." Gardious nods.

WINGS HQ: Swamp's Room

Swamp looked out the window of his room and badge. The one thing that proof that he existed and was a good friend. A chance to leave a mark. He looked around some more and read about the article of Pentaster's experiment. An experiment to prevent themselves for forgetting the dead.

He looked at what his next mission would be and who he would join with. He nodded as he wanted to prove that he and everyone of WINGS aren't cold-hearted soldiers. They're just misunderstood and were just like them on an emotional level. He held the badge tight, he'll prove it and find a way to never forget the dead.

Chapter 14 Concluded
