Just a little headcanon based on a video on youtube i recently watched that wondered why they didn't put any backstory on Pitch Black the nightmare king and the main vilillian of the movie while in the books he has a (rather tragic) backstory. The man in the moon was aware that a war was coming, warned by Father Time 500 years prior. As such, when the time was running out and only one option presented itself, he created the only thing that could end it. But the man in the moon has made a mistake. Soon his strength begins to weaken, and he gets hot and cold, but he does not understand what is happening to him and begins to melt.
