It was know 10:30 and Ariana still had not found platform 9 3/4. She tried asking a guard, but when she mentioned Hogwarts the guard rolled his eyes and walked muttering 'a boy earlier asked that too, and how kids are always wasting his time'. She was getting desperate. She didn't know what would happen if she was late for the train. She was also getting a lot of strange looks because of Alicanto. She was about to Iris Message Chiron and tell him to stop acting like an annoying, mysterious god and just tell her where this platform is. Luckily she heard a familiar voice.
"Come on mother. We don't want to be late. The train to Hogwarts leaves at exactly 11:00."
"Patience dear. We still have 25 minutes."
"Yes, but I want to get a good spot on the train."
Ariana hears Isabella before she sees her. As soon as Ariana brain registers that the voice is Isabella's she shoves through the crowd of people looking for her.
"Isabella!"
Isabella looks back and when she sees who it is she smiles. "Ariana. I wasn't expecting to see you until we got to Hogwarts."
"Yeah well I don't really know where the platform is."
"Oh, mother and I can take you. This way."
Isabella's mom gets her daughters attention. "Isabella who is this?"
"Oh this is Ariana. We met at Madam Malkin's."
Ariana holds out her hand. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Rosier."
Mrs. Rosier shakes her hand. "Likewise Ariana."
Isabella grabs her mom's arm. "Mother come on."
Mrs. Rosier chuckles.
Ariana, Isabella, and Mrs. Rosier go back to where Ariana started at platform 9 and 10.
"I came over here already. I couldn't find anything." Ariana says a little confused.
"Isabella you go first. I'll follow behind Ariana to make sure she does it right." Mrs. Rosier orders.
"Ok"
Ariana watched as Isabella ran at the dividing barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Then right when Ariana thought she was going to hit by the wall, she disappeared.
Ariana's jaw dropped. No way was she going to run into a wall. This has to be some sort of trick.
"Come along dear. It's best to do it in a run." Mrs. Rosier tells her.
Ariana takes a deep breath, and runs to the exact spot Isabelle ran. The only thing she was thinking was 'I'm going to die by crashing into a wall'. She closes her eyes as she is about to crash into the wall, but the crash never comes. She opens her eyes and a scarlet steam engine was waiting next to a platform packed with people. A sign overhead said Hogwarts' Express, eleven o'clock. Ariana looks behind her and sees Mrs. Rosier walk through the barrier.
The three of them walk through the crowd to one of the emptier carriages of the train.
Mrs. Rosier starts hugging her daughter and telling her goodbye. Ariana decided not to interrupt the moment and starts getting on the train.
"Ariana."
The said girl looks back. Mrs. Rosier smiles at her. "It was nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you to Mrs. Rosier."
Ariana turns back and enters the train. She drags her trunk through the carriage looking for an empty compartment.
"Ariana wait up!"
Ariana looks back to see Isabelle running quickly toward her with her trunk behind her.
"Yeah."
"Have you found a compartment yet?"
"No, so far they've all had gotten someone in them."
"What about that one?"
Ariana turns to look at where she's pointing. There's a compartment with one person in it. The one person is a boy with black hair staring out the window.
"Are you sure you don't want to find one with no one in it?" Ariana asks her.
"No this one will work." Isabelle says. She goes and she opens the compartment door. "Hey is it alright if we sit here?"
The boy looks up. Ariana notices he has sea green eyes. "Sure..uhh..yeah"
Isabella smiles. "Thank you."
Isabella and Ariana puts there trunks in the corner of the compartment, so that they are out of the way.
The boy looks over and notices that one of the girls has a golden looking bird with wings that seemed to shimmer in the light.
"What's that?" He asks.
Both girls look at him. "What's what?" Isabelle asks.
"The bird."
"Oh. You mean Alicanto. He's my bird."
"Didn't the last say you could only get owls?" Isabelle mentions.
"They gave me a pass since I live in America."
"Hey wait so do I!" The boy exclaims.
"You do where?" Ariana asks.
"New York." He responds.
The whistle blows. They can hear parents saying their last goodbyes to their kids as the train starts moving. There's awkward silence for a minute before the door is opened and another girl enters.
"Isabella I found you. I basically searched every carriage for you." The girl notices the other two people in the room. "Hey Ariana. Who's this guy?"
"This is...What's your name?" Isabella asks.
"Percy Jackson" he responds.
"Cool. That's Sophia Loughty, I'm Isabella Rosier, and that's Ariana."
"Does Ariana have a last name?" Percy asks.
"Potter."
Isabelle and Sophia's jaws drop. "What!" Isabelle shouts.
"You didn't tell us your last name was Potter."
"What's so important about her last name?" Percy asks.
"You don't know? Her brother killed You-Know-Who."
"I'm sorry I don't know who."
"How do not know. You-Know-Who is the darkest wizard of the 20ty century if not all time."
Percy blushes embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I'm new to all this."
"It's not that big of a deal. I learned about everything at the beginning of the summer and I've learned the general idea of everything now." Ariana assured him. "Although I skipped over the part about the Hogwarts' Express which I regret." Ariana mumbles.
"So what happened to You-Know-Who? How did your brother kill him?" Percy asks.
Ariana shrugs. "Beats me. I don't remember anything from the first two years of my life."
"Didn't your brother go live with muggles?" Isabelle asks.
"I think so, I haven't seen him in 9 years though."
"9 years! That's a long time not to see your brother. Why weren't you with muggles too?"
"I don't know. I was told it was to protect us. If we were both in the same place it would be more dangerous." Ariana lies.
They all seem to accept that answer. The group talked through the train ride and at around 12 there was a clattering noise in the corridor. A smiling dimpled women slid back their door.
"Would any of you like something off the cart?" She asks politely. All three girls get up and get food, but Percy stays sitting and looks out the window. Ariana notices this.
"Do you want any food Percy?"
He looks up. "No thanks I'm good."
"Come on take something. I have more than I need."
Percy takes a pack of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans while mumbling a thank you.
During their train ride they started discussing houses. "I think I'll get Hufflepuff." Isabella was telling them. "My father was a Ravenclaw, but my mother was a Hufflepuff. I've always taken after my mother more.
"You know it's not about your family tree right?" Sophia asks.
"Yeah, but sometimes that is what happened."
"Do you know how we are sorted." Percy asks.
"There's nothing about it in our school books." Ariana says.
"My parents didn't tell me either. They said it was a surprise, but I heard that we had to battle a troll." Isabella tells them.
"Please they wouldn't make first years battle a troll. It's probably a knowledge test." Sophia says.
"Well then I'm never going to get sorted. I've been expelled from every school I've ever gone too. Which is a lot." Percy jokes.
Ariana starts listening intently. The other look at him with raised eyebrows.
"Every school. Seriously."
Percy looks at them. "I promise on my honor." He says in a terrible British accent.
They all burst into laughter, but Ariana is thinking how he might be the one.
The group quieted down for a little while, and they just watched the fields go by with sheep and cows. They also watched as it slowly got darker.
They all stand quickly up at the sound of a shout. They look up to see 5 kids surrounding a smaller scrawnier kid.
"I'm not going to tell you again kid. Apologize for what you said about me and you won't get hurt." A kid with brown hair and eyes says while
"But...but.. I didn't say anything rude." The kid stammers.
"Marcus come on we don't want to get in trouble before we get to school." One of the two girls go the group says.
Marcus nods and looks back at the kid. "Just remember don't insult me kid."
The kid called Marcus leaves along with the four others. Ariana gets up and opens the door inviting the kid on the ground a compartment.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah...I'm...I'm fine." He stutters.
"What's your name?" Isabelle asked kindly.
"Johnathan."
Isabelle nods "I'm Isabelle, that is Sophia, that's Ariana, and that's Percy." The said people smile or wave at him.
"Sorry about my twin brother he's kind of a jerk." Sophia tells Johnathan.
"That's your brother." Johnathan asks horrified.
"Yeah we never got along though. He was too prideful, so don't worry even the smallest comments hurt his ego." Sophia tells him."What was your comment by the way?" Sophia asks.
"I just told him he was standing in the middle of the hall, and I asked him to move."
"That's sound like my brother." Sophia says.
A voice sounded throughout the train. "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."
The five first years in the compartment kept getting paler as they got closer and closer to Hogwarts. When the train finally stopped they exited slowly, so they could have time to prepare themselves. They eventually found themselves on a tiny, dark platform filled with people.
"Firs' years! Firs' years over here."
The group follows the sound of the voice and ends up in front of a large man.
"All righ' follow me. Watch yer step."
"Why do we have to go a different way?" Percy whisper yells.
"I don't know." Ariana responds back.
"I do." Isabelle says.
"What?" They all ask.
"It's so everyone else has time to make it to Hogwarts."
"Of course. Whenever I'm trying to waste time I always go down creepy and dark paths." Percy mumbles.
"Hey did you guys know that we have to battle a dragon for the sorting." Johnathan says.
