Chapter 03: Branded
By some miracle, Kagome found a spring. Dropping the tattered remains of her clothes onto the ground, she waded in.
The hot water that usually gave her such pleasure now brought only pain.
She ignored the sting. With methodical movements, she rinsed the blood and the semen that still dripped between her legs.
A part of her still could not fathom it. Could not believe that it had happened. To her. At one point she wanted to look around, wondering: who?
It had been an act more violent and intimate than anything she had ever known. It would be branded on her brain, weaved into the tapestry of her memories. Became part of her nightmares.
From now on, she would always sense him. Be so viscerally aware of him, this male… this beast who had been inside of her.
Even now, even when his footsteps were completely silent, she knew he was there — behind her, quietly watching.
"He will smell you on me," she whispered without turning.
Would she ever be clean again?
