Chapter 04: Late
"Leave Inuyasha to me," Sesshōmaru said after a pause.
He was quiet, almost resigned. It angered her that he had the gall to act in such fashion. Because… what right did he have to be resigned when he was the one who took any and all choices from her?
"Perhaps… I can explain to him what happened," she murmured as though to herself, her hands cupping the water tinged pink with blood. "Perhaps… he will still accept me as I am."
Perhaps we can all pretend this never happened. Please.
There was no answer from him for a while.
"I cannot let you do that," he eventually said, sounding hollow.
Her hope crashed and burned before it even took flight.
A tear rolled down her cheek. "Why not?"
"The beast has marked you. And… the seed I put inside you has taken root."
