In the town area of Los Angelos, Anne Boonchuy, her parents and the Plantars were sitting down on their house's couch and watching some TV. After the power was restored from the recent blackout last night, they decided to go back to doing normal things.

"Well, things are all better for us, now." Anne said with a smile.

"And everyone else in your country." Hop Pop replied.

"At least we don't get any crazy blackouts in Amphibia." Polly admitted. "We don't have to use electricity."

"Lucky." Bee muttered in complaint.

"So, Anne, have you decided to tell some of our friends about Andrias' invasion plans?" Sprig asked curiously.

"Well, it's kinda hard for me to decide, Sprig." Anne replied. "Telling them about it could still cause a panic."

"Sweetie, you shouldn't think about the bad outcomes." Oum told her with a reassuring smile. "You should just be honest and they'll be understanding."

Anne seemed to be a bit more confident of telling those she trusted about her plans to return to Amphibia after hearing her mother's words and she smiled back.

"Okay. I'll give it a try." She said.

Suddenly, everyone heard a knocking sound from within the garage.

"What was that?" Sprig asked in confusion.

"Sounds like it came from the garage." Bee answered.

"Dang it! It's gotta be more of those stupid raccoons, again!" Anne groaned annoyingly.

"Those things are always sneaking inside for some trash." Oum added with a scowl.

"Well, I guess we'd better take care of them." Polly shrugged before rushing upstairs and later coming back down with a tranquilliser pistol.

"Uh, where did you get that tranquilliser?" Bee questioned.

"I bought it on the computer with Anne's money card." Polly answered, smiling casually.

"So that's why it was next to your laptop, last week." Anne said with a blank expression.

Sighing in defeat, the Thai-American girl walked up to Polly and took the tranquilliser from her.

"I'll handle those little trash bandits. You guys just wait here." Anne told her family.

"Okay, Anne." Sprig replied, giving her a thumbs up.

"Show those furry thieves what happens when someone robs our house!" Bee encouraged.

"But don't come back with claw marks." Oum warned.

"Sure, mom." Anne replied with an eye roll before loading the tranquilliser and walking towards the garage's door.

In the garage, Sonic had managed to get in through an open window and he accidentally stepped on a flower pot, causing it to shatter into a bunch of pieces.

"Okay, I'm in." Sonic said quietly as he slowly stepped forwards. "With minimal damage to Frog Princess' property."

Seeing no one was around, Sonic reached into his small bag and pulled out a ring.

"Here we go." Sonic whispered. "It didn't work out on Earth, but that's okay! You're going to a safe world. A nice, safe world filled with mushrooms. Mushrooms that'll be your only friends. That sounds awful! I can't do this! You have to do it! There's no other option!"

Sonic took one look at his ring and came to a decision. He was officially going to the mushroom world to escape the military, even though it was just going to be him and mushrooms for the rest of his life.

"Alright." The blue hedgehog sighed as he prepared to throw the ring.

But then, Anne suddenly charged into the garage with the tranquilliser pistol in hand.

"Alright, raccoons! It's the end of the line!" Anne shouted while searching around with a flashlight. "You'd better show yourselves or things will… get… messy…"

When Anne laid her flashlight on Sonic, the two of them became frozen from shock and nervousness respectively. Neither of them said a single word for the past seconds as they were too stunned by them laying eyes on each other, until Sonic finally broke the silence.

"Uh… meow?" He asked, smiling nervously at Anne.

In response, Anne screamed in complete horror and this caused Sonic to quickly do the same thing. This was brought to an end when Anne pulled the trigger on her tranquilliser and fired a dart straight into Sonic's leg.

"Ow!" Sonic exclaimed before the sleeping effects of the dart began to make him feel sleepy.

But as his vision got blurry, the blue hedgehog noticed a poster of a large city on the garage walls and it said one thing that came into his mind.

"San… Francisco?" Sonic asked weakly before he dropped his ring.

As the ring rolled forwards on the floor, it soon dropped down and created a large portal that showed the higher area of San Francisco. Anne looked on with widened eyes and dropped her tranquilliser as she was absolutely shocked to see the portal that was directly in front of her.

Just then, Sonic fell limp onto the floor and dropped his bag of rings into the portal. They skidded on the glass top of the Transamerica Building and it landed safely ontop of a stone platform. Sonic weakly crawled on the floor as the portal began to close up.

"No…" He said before falling unconscious and the portal has completely vanished.

Anne was still stunned by what she had witnessed and couldn't even make anything out of it.

"What. The. Heck." She said in a bewildered tone.

Suddenly, her parents and the Plantars showed up through the back door.

"Anne, are you okay?" Sprig asked in concern.

"We heard a bunch of noises back there." Hop Pop said.

"Did those raccoons give you a hard time?" Bee questioned.

Anne said nothing and simply pointed towards Sonic, causing her family to lay eyes on him and become just as shocked as she is.

"Uhhhh…" Oum stuttered.

"We missed a lot of things, didn't we?" Polly asked with her moth wide open.

"Yup." Anne replied.

Later, Sonic was seen inside Domino The Cat's cage as the Boonchuys and Plantars inspected him in curiosity, still in shock by the strange creature they have never even seen before.

"This is definitely one of the freakiest things I've ever seen." Anne commented.

"Yeah. We don't get any of these in Amphibia." Sprig admitted.

Just then, Bee started to slowly poke Sonic in the head with a spatula.

"Really, Mr B?" Polly asked with a deadpan expression.

"What? We never get a kid-sized blue mouse in our home." Bee replied.

"Mice don't have long quills in them, honey." Oum told him.

"Wait, quills?" Anne repeated before her eyes shot open in realisation. "No way!"

She quickly pulled out the blue quill she got from the city and looked straight at Sonic, realising that they were indeed the same.

"The Blue Devil?!" Anne asked in astonishment.

"Wait, that thing Crazy Carl's always talking about?" Hop Pop questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Anne's parents and the Plantars looked back and forth at Anne's quill and Sonic before they all gasped in shock.

"It's real! It's really real!" Sprig exclaimed.

"Actually, it looks more like a he." Bee corrected.

The Boonchuys and Plantars then turned away from Sonic to have a discussion amongst themselves, not knowing that the blue hedgehog was slowly starting to wake up.

"Okay, what are we gonna do with that Blue Devil?" Anne asked.

"Maybe we should give him to the animal authorities?" Oum suggested.

"No way. They'd call the cops on us, too." Polly replied.

"I hate to say this, but Polly has a good point." Sprig said in agreement.

"Well, how's about we wait for him to wake up and then talk about where he came from?" Hop Pop questioned. "That'd be better."

"Hop Pop makes a good point. We don't wanna risk Mr X knowing where we are." Bee told everyone.

"Sounds good to me, dad." Anne replied.

But while they were talking, Sonic was able to fully wake up and he undid the lock on Domino's cage. When he crawled out, the Boonchuys and Plantars turned around and they gasped in surprise when they laid eyes on him.

"Gah! It's alive!" Polly shouted.

"Frog Princess? Mama Cooker? Papa Wheels? Long Tongue? Geezer Toad? Baby Face?" Sonic asked with a groan.

"So, you can talk." Bee said, holding his spatula defensively. "What do you want?"

"You're not going to abduct us, are you?" Anne questioned cautiously.

"You abducted me." Sonic retorted.

"He… has a good point." Sprig admitted.

"Yes, that's a fair point." Oum added.

"So, what are you and why were you in our garage?" Anne questioned.

"I-I needed somewhere safe." Sonic said. "And you and your family were the only people I could think of, Frog Princess."

"Why do you keep calling me Frog Princess?" Anne asked in confusion.

"Because you're super kind to frogs, and they treat you as their lord and saviour." Sonic explained.

"Again, that's fair." Anne muttered.

"I also know it because Long Tongue, Geezer Toad and Baby Face are talking frogs from somewhere I don't know about." Sonic told them.

Sprig, Hop Pop and Polly's eyes widened in shock at the fact Sonic knew who they really were, even though they currently had their disguises on.

"You do?!" Sprig questioned.

"Say whaaaat?!" Hop Pop asked in shock.

"Who else did you tell?!" Polly demanded with a threatening glare.

"Nobody. No one else even knows I exist." Sonic answered casually.

"Oh, thank frog for that." Anne said in relief.

"Wait, wait, wait. Where are all the mushrooms?" Sonic asked, trying to recall what had previously happened. "Why am I still on Earth? What is – oh no! I lost my rings!"

"Your rings?" Sprig repeated.

"We have no idea what you're talking about, giant blue rat thing." Polly said.

"Rat?!" Sonic asked in offence.

Anne and her parents looked out the living room's window and they saw Robotnik's truck parking outside their house.

"What the…?" Anne asked quietly.

"Okay, there's a black truck with a glowing red thing on the head." Bee admitted. "Why is that?"

"I don't know, honey." Oum replied.

Sonic walked over to the window and he looked towards the van before yelping in nervousness, quickly closing the curtains before he could be seen.

"They're coming for me!" Sonic stated in a panic.

"What?! Who's coming for you?!" Anne questioned frantically.

"We need to know everything!" Polly shouted.

"I don't have time to explain, but you have to help me!" Sonic pleaded.

"Help you?!" Sprig repeated in disbelief. "We barely even know you!"

"Why do we even need to help you?!" Oum asked.

"Well my legs, which normally would be classified as lethal weapons, feel like spaghetti." Sonic answered. "I need your help. Please. It's life or death."

Anne looked down at Sonic for a bit before she looked back to the black truck outside her house. She might not know much about Sonic, but she did know that he was in dire need of their help.

"Okay, we'll help you." Anne said before turning to her parents and the Plantars. "Right guys?"

The Plantars looked at each other for a bit before they sighed in defeat.

"Alright." They said.

"If you say so, Anne." Bee shrugged.

"We'll help the talking blue creature." Oum added.

"Great! Thanks a lot!" Sonic replied gratefully.

"No problem. Now, follow us." Anne said. "We know a good place to hide you."

She then walked off with her family as Sonic attempted to follow them… only to fall face-first onto the floor.

"Uh, little help?" Sonic asked before Polly showed up and dragged him across the floor. "Thank you."

Outside the Boonchuys Residence, Robotnik kneeled down at the front yard as he spotted a familiar footprint in the soil. After scanning the footprint, Robotnik saw that it was the same as the footprint he found back in the woods.

Inside the house, Anne and her family had brought Sonic into the attic.

"Alright, stay here." Anne instructed. "And be quiet."

"We'll go talk to the stranger outside and hopefully get him to leave." Bee explained.

"Until then, stay hidden." Sprig told the blue hedgehog.

"Good plan! Great plan!" Sonic replied with a smile. "We're all already working so well together! Practically finishing each other's sentences!"

In response, Anne, her parents and the Plantars slowly began to leave Sonic in the attic.

"Don't get killed." Polly whispered before they completely left.

"Okay, bye." Sonic said simply.

The Boonchuy's and Plantars then arrived at the front door and opened it up to see Robotnik still inspecting the area.

"Hello there, sir!" Bee called out, earning Robotnik's attention.

"Can we help you with something?" Oum asked with a kind smile.

Robotnik stood up and he began to approach the two families.

"Good morning, my rural chums." He greeted, arriving at the front. "I'm… from the power company, investigating the blackout. If you don't mind, I'd like to take a few readings inside your house."

"No kidding? You're from the power company?" Anne asked in surprise. "Oh, you must know my friend, Danny. He's a voluntary employer there and we like playing softball together."

"She plays softball with a human named Danny?" Hop Pop asked quietly.

"Play along, Hop Pop." Sprig whispered, knowing Anne was just faking it all.

"Ah, Danny." Robotnik said fondly. "He's a good man."

"Yeah, come right inside." Bee offered.

"You're definitely welcome to come in!" Polly stated, playing along with the act.

"Great." Robotnik replied as he walked up to enter the house.

"Take all the readings you need." Anne said, until she suddenly placed her arm on the entrance's side and blocked Robotnik from getting in. "Except… doesn't the power company usually take their readings from outside the house? That way, they can check them even if you're not home. Also, my friend, Danny, volunteers at the local burger shack. And he's more of an badminton expert. So, you wanna tell me why you think we're dumb enough to just let you walk inside our house."

"What my daughter said." Oum added, crossing her arms firmly.

Robotnik stayed silent as he secretly hid his hand behind his back and pressed a few buttons on his glove, causing some mini drones with four propellers to fly from his truck and into the house.

"I'm sorry, miss…" Robotnik said, focusing his eyesight on Anne.

"Anne. Anne Boonchuy." Anne answered. "And these are my parents and our house guests, the Plantars."

"Hey there." Sprig said.

"Sup?" Polly asked casually.

"It's a pleasure." Hop Pop added with a smile.

"Well, Anne Boonchuy, her parents and their house guests, the Plantars… you all may have noticed that this entire town has been experiencing a power outage." Robotnik told them, turning his back towards the Boonchuys and Plantars.

"Yep, no lights." Anne replied. "We picked up on that."

"It was last night." Sprig added.

"Twenty minutes ago, I tracked an energy pulse with a similar signature to the one that caused that disruption." Robotnik explained as more of his drones flew inside.

Inside the attic, Sonic was hiding behind a wooden chair as two drones were presently in with him and scanning for any life signatures with red beams. The blue hedgehog had a worried expression, but remembered that he had to stay unseen.

"Okay, listen, Mr…" Bee said slowly, not knowing the name of the man who was at his family's doorstep.

"Doctor. Dr Robotnik." Robotnik answered. "But my dentist calls me Rob."

"That's a weird name." Polly whispered to Sprig and Hop Pop, snickering smugly.

"Hm. Look, Dr Robotskeez, I'm pretty sure what you're looking for is pretty serious." Anne said with a casual smile. "Unfortunately, we don't have whatever it is. But you can ask anyone else."

"Of course. Lots of people in this town know us." Oum commented.

"I bet they do. I'm sure you're hella popular with the Jebs and Merles and Billy Bobs in this glorified gas-station rest stop." Robotnik said mockingly. "Betcha go way back to the days of tippin' cows and playin' in a jug band!"

The crazy doctor began imitating a jug band player, causing the Boonchuys and Plantars to get weirded out.

"This guy is super weird." Sprig muttered.

"Took the words outta my mouth, bro." Polly said in agreement before Robotnik finally stopped.

"And maybe someday, you'll all achieve your goals of getting a Costco car or adopting a Labradoodle." Robotnik told them with a smirk as he approached the two families. "But the reality is, I surpassed everything you're ever going to DO! Before I was a toddler… I was spitting out formulas, while you were still just spitting up formula."

"I was breast fed, actually." Anne replied, trying her best not to get antagonised.

"Nice. Rub that in my orphan face." Robotnik sneered before putting on a serious face. "Boonchuys and Plantars, are you familiar with US Code Nine-Zero-Ten, Title Ten, Article One-Oh-Four?"

"Uh…" Bee muttered as he and the others sweated slightly and looked to each other.

"I'm not sure that we-" Anne began to say.

"Anyone who attempts to aid an enemy of the United States shall suffer death." Robotnik warned, pointing a finger at them all. "And if I'm the one that catches you… it'll be even worse."

Anne, her parents and the Plantars remained silent in fear after hearing the doctor's words. Polly even moved behind Oum's legs to hide herself, until Anne finally broke the silence.

"Wait… worse than death?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

Meanwhile, Sonic was still hiding from Robotnik's drones in the attic. He was currently blending in with some old sports balls by curling himself into a ball, while the drones continued to scan the area.

"Okay, I'm a ball. Just a normal ball." Sonic whispered to himself. "I'm blending in like a ball. Shh! Stop talking. No, you stop talking. Be quiet, Sonic! YOU be quiet, Sonic!"

The blue hedgehog stopped arguing with himself when he noticed the drones were getting closer.

"Oh, I hope they aren't scanning me with X-Rays." Sonic muttered. "I had kind of an embarrassing lunch."

The drones' beams started to get closer and closer towards Sonic, increasing his worridness even more.

"Don't freak out. Don't freak out." He whispered as the beams were just inches away. "Don't freak out. Don't freak out. I'M FREAKING OUT!"

Sonic wasted no time in rolling out of the ball pile before the beams could detect him and he managed to bash his way through the attic's door.

"Why don't you have your staircase carpeted?!" Sonic questioned in pain while rolling down the stairs and into the kitchen, bashing against the table.

As Robotnik continued interrogating Anne, her parents and the Plantars, they all suddenly heard the noise that Sonic created from the living room and they all paused for a moment.

"…old pipes. It happens a lot in the house." Anne told Robotnik.

"Yeah. Probably just the house settling." Robotnik replied as he began turning away. "Nothing to see here!"

But then, Robotnik shoved his way into the house and marched all the way into the kitchen, with the Boonchuys and Plantars following behind him.

"Hey! Get back!" Bee demanded.

"You can't barge into our home!" Oum shouted.

"Stop it, you moustached creep!" Sprig ordered.

"Halt in the name in the law!" Polly added while glaring.

But when everyone arrived in the kitchen, what they saw was Domino eating a large fish on the table. When the house cat saw everyone staring at her, she gave a casual meow before grabbing her fish into her mouth and leaving.

"Here's the thing… I'm never wrong." Robotnik said with an annoyed glare.

"Well, there's a first time for everything, I guess." Anne admitted, patting the doctor on his shoulder.

"Would you like something to eat? We've got a lot of choices." Bee offered.

"They're great at welcoming guests." Hop Pop said assuringly. "We should know."

"Just relax and we'll get you anything you need." Oum added with a smile.

Robotnik chuckled and gave them all a blank look as he turned away, but then stopped and slowly leaned over to something resting on the table. He picked it up and showed it to be the blue quill Anne got from Sonic in the city.

"Look at that. I was right." Robotnik said, smirking sinisterly at the Boonchuys and Plantars. "Note the lack of surprise. Shall we try this again?"

The crazy doctor then whistled Ride Of The Valkyries and one of his larger drones floated into the house. When Anne and the rest of her family laid eyes on it, the drone suddenly aimed two mini machine guns at them.

What none of them knew was that Sonic was watching from underneath the table with a nervous expression.

"I'm going to give you all five seconds to tell me where it is." Robotnik threatened. "Five…"

"We don't know what you're talking about, dude." Anne denied.

"It's the truth." Sprig agreed nervously.

"Four…" Robotnik said.

"Hey, you can't just kill us." Bee told him.

"Yeah. Tons of people around here are gonna be asking questions about why we're being threatened." Hop Pop warned.

"And you'll get into big trouble." Oum added with a frown.

"How can you threaten somebody who never existed?" Robotnik asked rhetorically. "Three…"

Neither Anne or any of her family members could come up with something else to say, while Sonic grew more worried by the scene as it continued.

"Come on! Rack your brains!" Robotnik demanded. "You might be able to come up with some lame excuse to go on living. In two…"

Anne and her parents looked back at the drone and then Robotnik in worridness, while Sprig and Polly hid behind Hop Pop fearfully as he held his arms in front of them.

"One!" Robotnik warned maliciously.

Deciding he couldn't stand around anymore, Sonic suddenly zoomed out from his hiding place to reveal himself.

"Wait! Don't hurt them!" He begged.

Robotnik screamed at the sight of Sonic, which allowed Anne to punch him in the face and make him fall flat onto the floor unconsciously. When it saw Robotnik's current state, the drone immediately revealed a bunch of missiles and prepared to open fire.

"Oh crud." Anne said worriedly.

"Get down!" Sprig yelled.

Everyone immediately ducked out of the way of the drone's bullets before they crawled their way over to the table, taking cover from more bullets.

"This feels excessive!" Sonic called out.

"Now is not the time for chatting!" Polly shouted in anger, making Sonic wince in response.

The drone soon stopped firing and this allowed Anne to slowly take a peek from behind the table.

"Has it stopped firing, Anne?" Oum asked in nervousness.

"Please say yes. Please say yes." Sprig begged.

"Yeah, it's stopped." Anne informed. "But we're gonna have to take it down and then get out of here. Blue guy, can you-"

But when the Thai-American girl turned around, she and her family noticed that Sonic had disappeared.

"Uh, where is he?" Bee questioned.

"I've found him." Hop Pop said, pointing in the opposite direction.

Everyone looked to where the elderly frog was pointing and saw Sonic climbing ontop of one of the kitchen shelves so he can get the drop on the drone. Anne and her parents have him a signal not to do it, but Sonic only nodded with a smug look in response.

As they were distracted with the blue hedgehog, the drone noticed Anne's head peeking out from the table and prepared to open fire.

"Hiyah!" Sonic shouted as he lunged straight onto the drone, causing it to float all over and fire aimlessly. "Don't worry! I got it right where I want it!"

"That plan of his was really stupid!" Polly stated.

"It definitely was, Polly!" Anne agreed, covering her head from the bullets.

They destroyed a bunch of pictures, the walls, the couch and some even scared the life out of Domino and caused her to run all the way upstairs.

"Can you believe Amazon is gonna deliver packages with these things?!" Sonic questioned, keeping a firm grip on the drone.

"Yeah, it is not okay with me!" Bee replied.

"Dad!" Anne shouted annoyingly.

"What? I'm just being honest." Bee said.

More and more objects got destroyed by the drone's bullets as glass crashed down onto the floor.

"This was a horrible plan! What was I thinking?!" Sonic asked, starting to feel terrified instead of confident now.

"You weren't thinking at all!" Hop Pop retorted.

Anne knew she had to do something and ran over to one of the cupboards before opening it, pulling out her signature combat sword that she acquired from Amphibia many days ago.

"Man, have I missed you!" Anne remarked.

"I'm gonna puke!" Sonic called out with a dizzy expression.

"He's getting dizzy! Stab that floating trash can, Anne!" Polly yelled.

"Right!" Anne nodded in response.

Sonic soon lost his grip and the drone was able to shake him off. But then, Anne used her sword to stab it in the eye and completely destroyed it.

"Great going, Anne!" Hop Pop complemented.

"You're the best!" Sprig remarked.

"Thanks, you guys!" Anne replied before pulling her sword out of the drone.

"Come on! Grab the little blue thing!" Bee stated urgently, grabbing his car keys.

"We need to leave, right now!" Oum told everyone.

Anne quickly grabbed Sonic, who was still in a dizzy state, and everyone immediately dashed out the front door towards the Boonchuy's car.

"Oh, don't tell me that's all you've got!" Sonic said, feeling very woozy. "I'm just getting started! Let me know if you wanna go round two with the blue!"

"Now isn't the time for fighting! It's time for escaping!" Anne stated as she placed Sonic inside the vehicle.

Everyone else jumped inside and Bee started up the engine before driving out of the parking area and fleeing the scene.

Just then, the black vans from before parked next to Robotnik's truck and Agent Stone excited his vehicle, seeing the Boonchuys and Plantars escaping with Sonic in their car before looking to inside the house and entering it.

"Doctor! Are you alright?" Stone asked, helping the doctor back on his feet. "I saw a teenage girl, two adults and some miniature-looking people race out of here and thought-"

"That you should stop them?" Robotnik questioned, immediately making Stone shut up. "Open your mouth… and say you thought that you should stop them."

"No, sir." Stone replied. "I thought that maybe I should check to see if you were okay-"

Robotnik interrupted the agent by grabbing him by the mouth.

"You know what's hard about being the smartest person in the world?" Robotnik asked with a frown.

"Everyone else seems stupid." Stone answered.

"Stupid, yes! Way to go! You got that one!" Robotnik retorted, letting go of Stone and fixing him up. "Whatever this creature is, it's our job to secure it, neutralise it, uncover the source of it's power. And if it resists… we take it apart… piece by piece… see what makes it tick."

Robotnik leaned down to place his shades back on, but found that they were a bit bent out of shape due to the punch he got from Anne.

"Stone?" Robotnik said.

"Doctor?" Agent Stone asked.

"Call Optical Illusions. Tell 'em I need new shades." Robotnik ordered, tossing his old pair away. "They know what kind I like. Oh, and bring that quill."

"Yes, Doctor." Stone replied.

Robotnik then left the house to hunt down the Boonchuys, Plantars and Sonic, while Stone grabbed the quill his boss had discovered for some later testing.
