You and Me After All

Chapter 11: Displeasure

As Sesshōmaru waited for the Miko to finish, he gave instructions to Jaken to stay with Rin and keep the girl safe. He was adjusting Ah-Un's bridle and saddle when he sensed the imp coming up behind him.

"Sesshōmaru-sama, where are you going?"

"Home," he intoned.

"All the way home?!"

He turned his head just enough to catch Jaken's little form in the corner of his vision.

"Do you know of any other home for this one, Jaken?"

He seemed to have shocked the imp into silence. No wonder, considering it had been a while since he stepped foot in his home. He had not lived there since… Sesshōmaru frowned. It must have been just before Inuyasha's seal on Goshinboku was broken.

The memory of Inuyasha and the Tree of Ages brought his mind to the miko again. She had been perturbed when he insisted that she came with him, and he had gone so far as to threatening the life of his half-blood brother. Such statement did nothing to endear him to her – of that he had no doubt. However, considering their predicament, he was confident it was best to bring her home.

Perhaps it was extreme, but if there was any truth to what he had heard about Izayoi's pregnancy with Inuyasha, taking the miko back to his lands seemed prudent.

Besides, he had relied on his cousins' help for too long to manage during his absence.

Idly, as he made plans in his head, Sesshōmaru reached out to scratch Ah-Un's neck. But instead of leaning into his touch like usual, the beast snorted and swerved away.

Ah-Un's displeasure with him was palpable. He stared at the rump which the two-headed beast presented him.

'You too, Dragon?'

Behind him, Jaken gaped.

"Sesshōmaru-sama, what have you done?"

Indeed.
