I woke up to the feeling of soft sheets on my skin and warmth on my back. I slowly opened my eyes to a dark room. I was in a bed and I could see the glass wall covered by black out curtains in front of me. I furrowed my brows as I tried to recollect what happened the previous night. I remember working on things for the party, the talk with Alfred and then the crying. Oh crap. I must have fallen asleep during that. That doesn't explain how I'm now in a bed and not down in the tech room of the Batcave.
I got my answer when I heard a sound come from next to me. I slowly turned my body and I could see Bruce sleeping on his back. That explains why my back felt so warm. This man was his own personal space heater. My eyes were adjusting to the dark room and a deep blush grew on my cheeks. Bruce was shirtless at the moment. I turned back around to my side and took a deep breath through my nose.
This is fine, I'm totally fine that a very hot, very ripped shirtless man was right next to me. Don't freak out. After lying still for another five minutes I then finally got enough courage to try and get up.
I carefully pulled the sheets off me. I noticed that I was still in the clothes that I wore last night. I slowly sat up in the bed and placed my feet onto the hardwood floor. I looked back at Bruce's sleeping form to see if my movement had woken him. He didn't stir at all in his sleep. I stood up from the bed and quietly shuffled my feet to the door.
I quietly opened the bedroom door and slipped through it. I closed the door behind me and headed for the kitchen. The smell of food hit my nose as I got closer. I stepped into the kitchen to see Alfred cooking over the stove. Alfred must have heard me because he turned around.
"Good morning, Miss Moser. Breakfast will be ready shortly." Alfred greeted.
"Thank you, Alfred but I really should head back to the warehouse." Alfred gave me a smile and pointed his spatula to me.
"I believe Master Wayne wants to speak with you when he wakes up. He took measures to make sure you would stay." He pointed at my left wrist. I lifted my left arm and looked down. My jaw dropped seeing my vibranium bracelet was gone. He took it?!
"He's so insufferable." I grumbled under my breath. I glared at the bedroom door that I had just gotten out from. Alfred gave me an amused smile on his face. I let out a sigh and took a seat on the barstool in front of me.
"I guess I have no choice. What are you making?" I asked.
"Spinach and mushroom omelets. I hope that is to your liking. Master Wayne usually sleeps until the afternoon. It has been a while since I've made breakfast for another person." My mouth watered at the sound of them. It had been a while since I had a decent home cooked meal.
"It sounds delicious, Alfred and it smells even better." I stated.
After breakfast, I went back down to the Batcave. I had fallen asleep before finishing working on my gadgets. I ended up having to replace one of my disks that had gotten too damaged and lifting up that car was the last straw for it.
I placed the disk on the ground and sent a quick bolt to it. I grabbed the wrench from the work table and threw it down. The magnetic disk instantly attracted the wrench. A loud clang was heard as it stuck to the metal disk.
Knowing that it was working properly I then sent another bolt to end the charge. I grabbed both my disk and the wrench and put it back on the table. I let out a sigh and put my hands on my hips. I was completely done and Bruce was still asleep. Which meant that I'm still stuck here. I couldn't wrap my head around why he had taken off my vibranium bracelet. I let out a frustrated sigh. I need to get a car or something to get around when I can't be Voltess.
I walked to the edge of the glass of the tech room and stared down at the rest of the Batcave. Ever since I got to Gotham I really hadn't had a chance to relax. Maybe getting outside for some fresh air would help.
I walked along the lake's shore not too far from the penthouse. My bare feet touched the cool grass and the gentle breeze blew through my hair. It was a beautiful day out. It wasn't too hot or cold and the perfect amount of clouds that would occasionally block the sun's harsh light.
I stopped at one edge of the lake and looked out. I then looked down and noticed smooth stones close to the water's edge. I leaned down and grabbed some of the smooth stones.
I placed the stones in my left hand and grabbed one with my right. I looked back at the lake's surface. My jaw clenched as the past week played through my head. I looked back at the stone in my hand. My brain imagined that the plain stone in my hand was now one of the Infinity Stones. It was those damn stones that sent me here.
In one fluid motion I then flicked the stone across the water. I watched it skip three to four times before it sank. One by one, I started to flick each stone across the water. Each time I put more strength and anger into each throw. The stronger and angrier the throws the more skips the stone made.
I looked down at the last stone that was also the largest of them all. I clenched my teeth together and I could feel my upper lip twitch from the anger coursing through my body. I could see Thanos. His last taunting words I heard before my world changed echoed in my head. "You should have gone for the head." He had taunted Thor before snapping his fingers with the stones in hand. I clenched my left hand into a fist and gripped the stone tightly with my right. Electricity started to freely spark from both of my hands. My powers reacting to my anger.
I then reared back my arm and threw the stone. This time with all my strength, anger, and powers. I watched the stone shoot off from my hand. My electricity dissipated behind it as it traveled in the air. The stone didn't skip once in the water. It flew all the way across the lake before it hit a tree and bounced off into the water.
My chest and shoulders heaved as I breathed heavily and angrily. Electricity still sparked around my hands as I clenched both of them into fists. We lost to Thanos. I couldn't do anything about it. I was stuck in an unfamiliar world where nobody I knew exists. I wanted to be back in my world and help everyone figure out a way to beat Thanos for good. That would never happen though. I was stuck here…and I had to finally accept it and move on. No matter how hard that was. This was my life now.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I let out the breath and I felt myself start to calm down. My electricity stopped sparking around my hands. I relaxed my fists and took a couple more calming breaths. I took one last breath before feeling the anger completely disappear.
I sat down on the grass with my knees bent. I rested my arms on my knees and my head on my arms. I turned my head slightly to see if the black curtains to Bruce's room were opened yet. They remained shut which told me the man was still asleep. I turned my attention back to the lake and spaced out in thought. Unbeknownst to me, Bruce had watched the whole thing through the small crack opening of the curtains.
No One's P.O.V
Bruce woke up and turned his head to the side. The other half of the bed was empty. He had a feeling Melody would have already been up by the time he did. He wanted to talk to her about the state he found her in last night. He also knew that she would have tried to leave the moment she got up.
Bruce threw the sheets off him and sat up in the bed. He looked down at the nightstand and pulled open the drawer. There in the drawer sat the bracelet that somehow held the entire Voltess suit in it. He was fascinated in how it worked but Melody had yet to tell him. All she had told him that it was made out of something called Vibranium. He had never heard of such a thing but it sounded like it was a form of metal.
Bruce stood up and grabbed the bracelet at the same time. He walked around the bed and lifted his free hand to draw back the black out curtains. He stopped when he saw Melody standing by the shore of the lake.
He used two fingers to slightly draw back the curtain to get a better view. He could vaguely see her fiddle with something in her hands. That's when he saw the first stone get thrown. He lightly chuckled to himself. Had she gone out there just to skip stones?
Bruce watched her throw one after the other. His demeanor slowly changed as he noticed the way she was throwing the stones. The throwing of the stones got increasingly more violent. Was she angry?
His brows furrowed in concern when he noticed electricity sparking from her hands. His eyes followed the last stone that she threw. He had to admit he was impressed when it didn't skip the water's surface once. It had hit a tree on the opposite side of the lake before disappearing into the murky depths. His eyes flickered back to Melody and she now looked visibly angry. Now he knew something was going on that he didn't know about. First she's upset enough to cry last night and now she's so angry that her powers are showing.
Bruce turned away from the curtain to get dressed. He needed to find out what was going on with her. Something was clearly bugging her.
Melody's P.O.V
I continued to sit at my spot by the lake's shore. I let out a sigh through my nose. That's when I got the feeling like I was being watched. I lifted my head and turned to see Bruce now awake standing on the pier. He was dressed in casual clothes and was staring directly at me. I stood back up and started to make my way back to the pier.
Bruce followed my movements as I made my way closer to the penthouse. I made my way around to the pier and smiled at Bruce. My smile quickly faded when he didn't return it. His mouth was in a firm line and that one wrinkle in the middle of his forehead gave it away. Something serious was going on.
"Everything okay?" I asked as I stopped in front of him.
"We need to talk." Bruce said in a strict tone of voice. I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Talk about…?" I trailed off. Where was this going? I know Alfred said he wanted to talk to me earlier but I didn't think it'd be a serious one.
"I found you passed out in the lab last night. When I moved you I noticed it looked like you had cried yourself to sleep. I was concerned at first but now I'm worried. I saw you earlier with the stones." Bruce started off strictly. Damnit! He saw that?
"What is going on with you, Mel? You can talk to me." Bruce's tone turned into one of concern.
I couldn't tell Bruce what was really going on. How could I explain to him that I'm not from his world let alone his universe. Does he even know the multiverse theory? That's if he even believes me. He probably wouldn't and he would think that I'd lost my mind.
"It's nothing. I just got homesick. That's all." I partially lied.
"Homesickness doesn't explain the anger I saw out there." Bruce gestured out to the lakeshore, "There's something more going on than just being homesick. Why won't you tell me?" Bruce exasperated. I glared at the man before me.
"We've only known each other for a week, Bruce! Just because we kissed doesn't mean I'm ready to share everything about my life! You don't know me and I don't know you. So stop acting like you have a right to know my business! Yes, I'm angry but that is my problem not yours!" I yelled, losing my temper.
I was tired of him acting like we were in some sort of relationship. I barely know this man. I may have a crush on him b-wait… Did I just admit to myself I have a crush on Bruce Wayne?
Bruce's face held a look of hurt before his walls went back up. His look now stoned face. He tossed something at me and I caught it with both hands. I opened my hands to see that it was my vibranium bracelet. I looked back at Bruce. His expression is still hard as stone.
"I'll see you tonight as planned then, Voltess." I felt a sting in my chest hearing him refer to me as my codename.
He turned his back to me and walked down the pier to the glass door. I said nothing as I slipped my bracelet on and activated the suit. I unclipped my board from my belt and simultaneously threw it to the ground and extended it to its full size. My suit retracted down to my neck as I looked behind me. Bruce had now disappeared into the penthouse.
The vibranium encased my head once more as I stepped onto my board. I took off to the sky and headed in the direction of my warehouse hideout.
No One's P.O.V
Alfred had seen and heard the fight between Bruce and Melody. He watched as Bruce came back storming into the house in a silent rage. Alfred could see from the glass that Melody had left on her board.
Alfred's eyes followed as Bruce headed in the direction of the elevator. "Where are you going, Master Wayne?" The butler asked.
"Training." Was the single word response Bruce gave the old man.
Alfred watched as Bruce stood in the open elevator, "I've known you for your entire life, Master Wayne. I believe I can say with certainty that you've finally met your match with Miss Moser." Bruce gave the butler an annoyed expression.
"Thanks for your input, Alfred." He said sarcastically.
Alfred smirked, "I'm happy to anytime, Master Wayne." Bruce rolled his eyes and pressed the button for the elevator doors to close.
Melody's P.O.V
I landed near the outside wall of the Mayor's house. I shot a quick spark to the outside security cameras and the hologram popped up.
"Athena, take control of the security system." I said quietly.
"Remote access is activated, Mel." The hologram disappeared from my wrist. I could see the screens pop up on my lenses.
"Keep the cameras off of me at all times." I instructed. I crouched down before jumping. My hands caught the top of the wall and I easily pulled myself up and over.
"Understood." I tapped my bracelet and the vibranium suit retracted to reveal me wearing the waitress and waiters uniform. I grabbed an ear piece from my pocket and put it in my ear.
"I'll need live updates, Athena. Alert me if you see anything on the cams that looks suspicious." I said quietly with my finger on the ear piece.
"How will you alert Bruce if I see anything?" Athena questioned.
"We're on our own for now. I kind of left there in a rush. I didn't bring the comms even though I doubt he cares." I whispered. I made sure no one was looking and ran over to the wall of the house.
I looked out from where I could see limousines pull up. There was a whole line of them waiting to drop off their passengers.
My attention was caught on a certain black limousine. From where I stood I could make out Bruce coming out of the vehicle. He was wearing what looked to be a very expensive suit and tie. Probably custom tailored if I guess seeing how it fits him so well. That's when I saw him hold out his hand and a woman's hand took it. My jaw clenched seeing a woman come out from the limousine. Not just any woman though, she had a sash across her expensive dress that read "Miss America" on it. You've got to be kidding me.
"Mel, I'm detecting a rise in your heart rate and blood pressure." I heard Athena's voice in my ear.
"I could have told you that, Athena." I muttered as I glared at the two.
Miss America looped her arm through Bruce's. She was all over him. It made me physically sick seeing the way she hung on him. Bruce appeared to pay her no mind that she was clinging to him. He was putting on a charming smile and talking to people on the red carpet. I felt this anger in my chest that was different. Was this jealousy? Am I jealous of Miss America being the one around his arm instead of me?
I shook my head out of the thought. No. There was no way that was it. We had one kiss together and a crush on him but that's it. We hardly know each other and we're not in a relationship. That's what my head was thinking but then why does my heart feel like it's been torn in two?
"Mel, security is making their rounds. They're about to turn the corner." Athena's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I tore my gaze away from Bruce and Miss America. I looked back and I could see flashlights approaching. I quickly ran over to the side entrance.
I placed my hand on the handle and I heard the click of the security lock disarming. I opened the door and snuck into the Mayor's home. My sensitive hearing could hear the chatter coming from the ballroom of the home.
I placed my hand on the ear piece, "Athena, do you have eyes on the treasure?" I whispered.
"Yes, it's sitting its case. No signs of a disturbance." Athena answered.
"What exactly is it?" I asked. I wanted to know what was so priceless that a mob boss targeted it. Was it a lost artifact, an historic art piece-
"It appears to be a Jadeite Penguin figure." I froze. A what?
"You're telling me this is all for a stupid penguin figurine?!" I hissed into my ear piece.
"Hey you!" I stood up straight hearing somebody yell at me. I turned around to see an older man walk up. He was wearing an all black suit and tie.
"What are you doing back here? I told all wait staff to start serving champagne to the guests! Get a tray and start doing what we're being paid to do!" This guy was the manager apparently.
"Yes sir." The guy shook his head and muttered under his breath. Something about young people these days and no work ethic.
I walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a serving tray that had champagne on it. I balanced the tray on my left hand and followed other waiters and waitresses out to the ballroom.
The mob wasn't here just yet so until Athena spotted them I had to play my part. I walked among the invited guests of the Mayor's party. I could tell that all these people were all the upper class of Gotham. CEO's, politicians, and other important figure heads. These types of parties were never my scene. I always hated it when Tony would bring me to one of these.
The champagne glasses were grabbed from the tray I carried one by one. I kept a watchful eye as I scanned the crowd. I didn't see anybody that appeared to be out of place.
"I'm thirsty. Where is the waiter with the champagne?" My sensitive ears pick up on a woman's voice.
"I'll flag one down for us." I felt myself freeze hearing that deep voice. It was Bruce and that meant it was Miss America that I heard. The voices came from behind me. I silently prayed to myself that he hadn't seen me.
"Excuse me, ma'am." I pressed my lips tightly together hearing his voice now directly behind me.
I put on my best polite smile and turned around, "Yes sir?" Bruce's eyes met mine. I could still feel the tension between us. Both of us were still mad at the other.
"My date and I haven't been served any champagne yet." Miss America walked up beside him in her elegant red dress.
"Finally. You would think the wait staff knew how to do their job at the Mayor's party." Miss America complained.
I held back my tongue, "My apologies, sir." I held the tray in front of me. Bruce grabbed two glasses of champagne and gave one to Miss America.
Miss America immediately took a sip. She noticed me still standing where I was.
"You can go away now." She shooed me with her hand. I tried to hold back my tongue but this time I couldn't stop it.
"I'm just doing my job, ma'am. I'm supposed to wait on guests." I let a small smirk grow on my face. Sometimes I can't help being a smartass.
Miss America was not amused and glared at me, "Do you have any idea who I am? I can have your job like that." She snapped her manicured fingers.
"Yes ma'am, you're currently wearing your title." I said in reference to the sash.
"Then you should remember your place. You're serving me , not the other way around. I'm the one on a hot date with Bruce Wayne, not you. Now go away before I have you fired." My jaw tightened and I had to try very hard to not let a spark out.
"You heard her. Why don't you start serving the other guests?" My eyes immediately flickered over to Bruce. He had a smirk on his face that I recognized from the news tabloids. He was currently in his playboy persona and I hate it.
I said nothing and turned around. I heard Miss America scoff, "Who did she think she was? She's acting like she's somebody important. She's just some nobody."
I stopped and glanced over my shoulder. Bruce and Miss America's back were now facing me.
"Just ignore her. She's just some waitress. She's no threat to you." I heard Bruce say back.
I glared at their backs and I noticed Miss America reach for Bruce's arm. I lifted one finger and let a small electric spark sent their way. As soon as Miss America's hand touched Bruce's arm she then immediately recoiled. Bruce also flinched back.
"Ouch! You just shocked me." Miss America cried out.
I grew a sly smirk on my face as Bruce turned and stared at me. He knew it was me that just shocked them. He had that coming.
I then slipped back into the crowd to get away from both of them.
"Mel, some men just forced their way through the front door." Athena's voice sounded in my ear.
The front door? They weren't taking the tunnel? I headed out of the crowd and towards the back. I set the serving tray on a random table as I walked away.
I turned the corner as I heard the sound of doors being forced open. Gunshots suddenly sounded and people screamed in a panic. They're armed too? This isn't good. I tapped my bracelet and the vibranium scaled up my arm and around my body.
Athena pulled up the security feed. The mobsters were forcing people to the edges of the ballroom. Many people were handing them their expensive jewelry and wallets. I could see Morozov finally walk in and stop in the center of the room.
"Athena, pull down the security gates. I'm trapping these guys in the middle of the room." I stated and threw down my board.
"Mel, that would also trap the guests in the ballroom. Including Bruce, he won't be able to assist as Batman in the fight." Athena warned.
"I can handle this myself. Just do it." I ordered. I hopped onto my board and lifted off the ground.
"Right away." I heard the sounds of the security system alarm going off. I could see the mobsters and Morozov freaking out. The guests looked around confused as well.
"I thought the security system was deactivated?!" I heard Morozov yell out.
"It was or is but something has overridden our command!" I heard one of the mobsters reply.
"What?! How is that possible?!" Morozov yelled.
I could see the gates getting close to closing. I quickly sped through it and hovered in front of everyone to see.
"Yeah, that'd be me." I said with my voice synthesizer masking my voice. The gates are fully closed now. Trapping everyone in the ballroom but a separate gate cut off the mobsters from the innocent guests.
"You…you're the one that stopped our heist." Morozov said and pointed a finger at me. Not going to lie, this guy was even bigger than the footage I had seen.
I raised my hand up, "Guilty as charged. Oh wait, I think that should actually be your line." I quipped and gestured to the group of mobsters.
Morozov clenched his teeth, "You think you're so funny, don't ya punk?"
"Hilarious, even." Morozov growled.
"I want every gun on her! Use every last bullet, I want her dead!" He yelled out.
All the mobsters pointed their pistols and other semi-automatic weapons at me. I made no attempt to move as the sound of gunfire filled the room. I stood there with my arms to my sides as the bullets made their mark.
Morozov grinned but that slowly faded when he noticed. The bullets hitting my suit were falling harmlessly to the ground. The sound of empty clicking came from all the guns now. Every single bullet that had hit me littered the ground below. Completely smashed from the impact of the vibranium.
"Suit is 100% charged, Mel." Athena's voice sounded in my ear. Perfect.
"Look guys, that effort was really cute and all but I'm really not in the mood for this." My whole body began to crackle in my blue electricity. I built up a charge between my hands before sending it out to the mobsters.
Once it hit everyone except for Morozov I then moved my hands outward. Everyone connected to my stream of electricity moved to the security gates. Multiple clangs were heard as each one of them were magnetized to the metal bars.
I canceled the stream and the men stayed stuck to the gates.
"What the hell?!"
"I'm stuck!"
"We're all stuck!"
"What the hell did she do?!"
Morozov stared at his men in shock before turning back to me. I hovered lower to the marble floor of the ballroom.
"What are you, freak?" Morozov demanded.
I placed a hand on my chest, "Ouch. We're resorting to name calling now? Okay, I can play that game too. Show me what you got then, tiny. Get it? Cause you'r-"
"AAGGGHH!" I was cut off by Morozov's yell as he charged at me with his brass knuckles.
I ducked and moved away using my board. Morozov's fist hit the metal bars that were behind me. A loud clang was heard. I let out a whistle seeing the dent he put in it. This guy was strong. There was no way I could win against him face to face in combat. I needed to get past his defenses for one hard hit. I was still pretty charged from the bullets from earlier. That should do it and if not I could always zap him.
"I'll admit. You're strong, tiny. You have way more muscle than I do, but I'm faster." I taunted him.
Morozov cracked his knuckles, "You can only dodge for so long, freak." He threatened.
"We'll see about that." Morozov charged at me again. I bobbed and weaved with my board. There were a couple of close calls but I could barely dodge the hit.
"Get off your damn board and fight me you little shit!" I let out a mock gasp as I dodged another swing.
"Tiny! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" I scolded. I could see a vein pop in his forehead at this point.
He then did something I didn't expect. He kicked my board from under me and his hand immediately shot out and gripped me by my throat. Crap…
"Did I go too far with that one?" I asked.
"Shut up!" He yelled and threw me across the ball room. My front half slammed against the metal bars of the gate. It made a ringing sound when my vibranium suit made contact. I let out a groan as I felt a dull ache across my whole body.
"Multiple contusions detected." I heard Athena's voice.
"Yeah, I detected that too." I grunted out.
I could see the people staring at me with wide eyes through the bars. My eyes caught seeing the Mayors and he was next to none other than Miss America and Bruce. I didn't have time to focus on Bruce at this moment.
"Hey Mayor, lovely home you got here." I greeted the Mayor. I heard Morozov's heavy footsteps behind me.
I quickly gripped onto the metal bars. I sent a pulse of electricity to my feet to launch myself up. I flipped up higher onto the bars. My hands and feet are sticking to the metal.
I felt the ringing of the metal as Morozov's fist hit the bars. "Whoa, whoa! You've got a lot of anger there, tiny. Is this because I brought up your mother? Are you a mama's boy?" I quipped.
"Shut your damn mouth!" He yelled and aimed his next fist higher. I jumped off the metal bars and rolled onto the marble floor.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend her. I'm sure she's a-" I dodged the hit aimed for my head, "very lovely woman!" I quipped the last bit as I continued to dodge.
I needed to get a hit in but he wasn't leaving me an opening. I just needed one shot to get the upper hand. Just a little bit more and I can make him angry enough to mess up.
"It looks like she did a good job raising you, tiny. But there's one thing." I said as I continued to dodge.
"I will rip off your head if that means you shut up!" Morozov yelled.
"All I'm saying, tiny, is that it looks like you need to-" I crouched down to duck under a hit. I smirked under my mask seeing the opening I had been waiting for. Bingo.
"Relearn some manners!" My right fist crackled in blue electricity and I sent a swift uppercut into Morozov's chin.
The hit was strong enough to knock him a few inches off the ground. My electricity trailed off his chin after the hit as his back met the marble floors. Morozov grunted and put a hand to his chin.
I hovered both of my hands over each other. Electricity began to spark and collect together in the center.
"As much fun as this was, tiny, it's way past your bedtime." I said in a more serious tone.
I sent one hand forward and the stream I had been building up then struck Morozov. Morozov yelled and his body convulsed as the electric charge surged through him.
After a couple of seconds I stopped the attack. Morozov sent me one last glare before his head fell against the marble floor into unconsciousness.
"Sweet dreams, tiny. You'll wake up in a nice comfy jail cell tomorrow." I said and canceled my electricity completely.
"Mel, the figurine is gone." My eyes widen behind my mask. What?! How?!
I was snapped out of it when I heard somebody clapping. Then another and then another. It started a chain reaction. I looked around and everyone was now clapping and cheering.
"Athena, kill the lights and gates." I said over the noise. The lights cut out which caused the people to gasp and stop their cheering. I could hear the mobster's yells as the gates opened.
My night vision activated and I quickly grabbed my board. I used just its hovering ability to get me over the heads of the guests. I got off my board when I landed on the other side. I kicked it up to my hand and clipped it to my belt as I made a mad dash for the room the figurine was in.
I used my electricity to fling open the security door as I approached it. The generators kicked in and the lights to the building came back on.
I skidded to a stop in the room and sure enough the jadeite penguin figurine was missing from its pedestal. I frowned seeing nothing but a note sitting on the pedestal.
I walked up slowly and picked up the note with my gloved hands.
"Voltess, thanks for the show and distraction. I find you much more likable than the bat. We'll meet again soon. Sincerely, The Penguin." I read off. The Penguin? That had to be a codename or something along those lines.
"Bruce was right. Morozov teamed up with somebody." I said out loud.
"Morozov was just a diversion and we both fell for it." I turned around hearing Bruce's voice behind me.
He stood just inside the room with the door closed behind him. His playboy act was gone and I easily recognized Batman's personality coming through without the suit on.
My vibranium retracted down to my neck. "This guy knew one or both of us would show up tonight. He set Morozov up for failure." Bruce nodded his head in agreement. We just got had by a new villain.
