Agent One and Agent Two looked at each. It had been a long time now since they heard that name. They weren't too familiar with coldfire magic but they had heard the term used before but it was such a hush hush topic. There were some things they didn't discuss even outside of work. They had learned their place in D.H.O.R.K.S.
Stolas walked away, chewing on the finger nail.
"Are you gonna tell us what the fuck is going on here?" Blitzo snapped, "Some stupid motherfucker took my look and no one is explainin' shit. Start fuckin' talkin' Stolas!"
The prince sighed heavily.
"It's because of that bastard- he is the reason I'm here in the first place."
"Who do I need to fuckin' kill then?" the imp said, looking more pissed than he had been when the agents of D.H.O.R.K.S. snatched them up.
"It won't be an easy task. We can't just march out there and demand that fool to fight us," Stolas said, "There was an issue when I was summoned. I do not have all my power here unlike if I was back home."
"Are you sure it's ok to tell them?" Agent Two asked nervously, "It's not well known…."
Stolas stopped chewing on his fingernail and nodded.
"I trust my Blitzy…. I trust all of them here. Go ahead and send the others out. Have them look up any and all files in the last six months. I want everything and I do not care how long it'll take either. I don't care how insignificant it may seem. Any mysterious deaths, everything."
"Yes sir."
Agent One and Agent Two gathered up the other agents and they left.
"What happened to you, your highness?"
Stolas smiled sadly and looked at the broken two way mirror.
"It happened way before I met any of you including Blitzy."
Stolas dropped his grimoire on the floor of his bedroom. His heart gave an awful thump that was ungodly painful. He clutched his chest and growled at the agony he started to feel. It felt as if someone reached into his chest and was squeezing his heart unbearably hard. He tried to stand up but his knees buckled and he fell on the tiled floor.
It was no use- he couldn't stand.
"Fuck-
Stolas rubbed his forehead against the tiled floor trying to get his bearings but it was no use as he couldn't focus on anything but the pain. He couldn't describe the pain- it was nothing like he ever felt before. It felt almost as if his own soul was being pulled from his own body which should be fucking impossible. He had been born in Hell...
"ARGHHH-
He slammed a palm into the tiled floor and scratched the tile up off the floor. Chunks of broken tiles scattered over the floor, causing screeching to fill the bedroom. He fell over onto his side sucking in deep breaths but it wasn't working.
It suddenly felt like he was being forced into the floor and then through the damn ceiling at an alarming speed.
Stolas felt himself solidified. His body hit the ground and he gasped for a deep breath. He almost couldn't hear anything over the ringing and his own blood rushing. He didn't feel….
Right.
Something wasn't right. He raised a hand, touching his face. He tried blinking but it was like he was blind or something was obscuring his vision. Everything seemed so hazy.
"What is this?!" he shouted.
He froze.
His voice didn't sound right. That...
Then he heard the shouting and screaming. His vision started to spot and he started seeing colors.
Am…. Am I in a forest?
He sat up and cringed. His hand- It felt like his hand but it was a human hand.
This wasn't his body.
Where in the fuck was he?
"What the fuck?" he breathed out.
Stolas glanced down in horror to see a black blade with a black handle but there were red words…. Letters. He recognized those letters.
That language had been dead for…. Forever. No one was supposed to know it.
Stolas pulled the blade from his chest slowly. It started emitting a red light. The wound was completely healed other than a scar was there. He had a human body. He had no idea how in the hell it was possible... It shouldn't be possible.
"This is Darkhold's fault! That bastard-
"Put your fucking hands up!"
"The guy got away- the guy they were going to sacrifice! We gotta find him-
"YOU KILLED HIM! YOU KILLED HIM!"
"Agent Two, you gotta fucking chill-
"HE KILLED HIM!"
"That stupid bastard jumped in our fucking way-
Stolas looked around. Blood coated the ground, mixing with the dirt. The trees were covered as well…. It looked like a fucking blood bath. The symbols of coldfire magic were all over the ground and on the knife.
How did lowly humans get a hold of this? This shouldn't be even found on the living plane-
"Now that fucking group of piss offs have our demon!" someone shouted, "YOU MORONS HAD ONE FUCKING JOB! YOU ON WATCH!"
Stolas stood up. He was covered in blood alright but it definitely wasn't his since it smelled like human blood. He saw multiple people in the area dressed in black suits. Then a bunch of people tied up on the ground in black hoods and clothes.
What in the world-
"Agent Three!"
"AGENT THREE!"
Stolas turned his head. He had no idea why but the female voice sounded familiar. He felt like in a way 'Agent Three' was his name but that didn't sound right either. Nothing was making sense.
He was Stolas Goetia.
Right?
Right?
"Agent Three-
Stolas ran a hand down his face. A blonde, human woman with bright blue eyes came to him with tears running down her face. Despite her skin being a little darker, her cheeks and nose were pink. She looked relieved to see him until she got close enough to see the red color of his eyes.
"You're not Agent Three."
"N-No….. No I'm not…. Where…."
She backed up from him, almost cowering in fear.
"What's wrong with your eyes- they should be blue!" she hissed.
Stolas closed his eyes and rubbed his face again.
"I'm not…. Human so why am I human?" he said quietly, "Why am I here?"
"You're dead-
"I'm not…. I didn't die. Who…."
Stolas groaned, sliding his hands up to his head. He felt his body start shifting, turning his stomach in such an unpleasant way he wanted to vomit. He heard a few gasps but they sounded far away as his body started growing. He felt his feathers again.
He felt back to normal mostly but he still felt off.
"Fuckin' hell….." he muttered.
"YOU!" someone bellowed.
Stolas growled loudly, his head hurting from all the pain he had to endure already. He whipped his head to the side, his vision blurry and flickering.
"Kill them!" shouted a hooded man who managed to break free from his bindings and he shoved a suit man back, "KILL THEM ALL!"
Stolas made a face.
"DEMON! YOU HAVE TO ANSWER ME!"
The prince frowned. The shouting was too much for him. He knew a migraine was coming.
"I SAID KILL THEM DEMON!"
"ENOUGH!" Stolas shouted back.
His eyes started to glow and widen. Several humans turned to stone with one look from his eyes. He collapsed to his knees, feeling faint. His body shifted again and let out an inhuman screech.
"Help me," he managed to get out and he blacked out.
X
"Holy shit," Blizto said as he ran a claw over his horn.
"It doesn't end there after all. It had been a rough time in my life. I didn't do this because I wanted to. I did it because I had too."
Stolas ran a hand through his blonde hair.
"It had been something I had never expected and it caused things to become difficult at home as well. I had disappeared for long periods of time too. It came close to interfering with my demon work as well. I can tell you the rest but this is a big secret and it's the only way I can get my old life back."
The four of them nodded quietly.
X
Stolas woke up some time later in a wood cabin. He looked around feeling exhausted and weird. The sensation was something he couldn't explain if he tried. He held up his hands seeing both were actually his hands and not that human form he had taken on.
Thank goodness.
He felt relief wash over him but it was short lived. He glanced over to see the blonde woman sitting in the corner asleep. She didn't have her sunglasses on since they had fallen into her lap and she looked a little bruised up. She looked scared before and had called him 'Agent Three.'
What an odd woman. What in the hell happened anyways?
"Are you awake young lady?" he asked softly.
When she didn't respond, he said it louder then she woke up with a start. The blonde woman stared at him with those same bright blue eyes but this time she looked annoyed, angry even.
"I apologize for waking you but why am I here? What has happened exactly?"
"I don't know yet and I'm not allowed to speak to you. We'll have to move you soon."
"I see."
Stolas sighed heavily. He opened and closed his claw. His magic felt distorted and out of reach. He wasn't going to be able to go home right now. He just had to hope these humans weren't psycho enough to try and cut him open. He knew some demon hunters were nuts.
"You don't seem too excited to run off."
The prince shrugged.
"Something is wrong with me. I am unsure as to why or why I'm here. I suppose since you aren't supposed to talk to me you wouldn't be able to tell me anything."
"I know nothing either."
At least she's not attacking me.
"Agent two!"
The brunette man busted through next. He didn't have his sunglasses on either and his dark eyes landed on Stolas.
"It's awake."
The prince rolled his eyes.
How rude.
"We got a phone call."
Agent Two frowned, "From who?"
Agent One suddenly looked concerned.
"The Council."
"Shut up!"
"It's true."
The woman tensed up before putting on her sunglasses.
"What is the Council?" the demon asked.
"It's none of your damn business!" the man snapped.
Agent Two flinched. Stolas glared at him and the man cowered.
"The Council is fake," she said quietly, "They're a myth."
"One of them is here. We have a video conference."
Agent Two glanced at Stolas.
"Do they wish to speak to me?" the prince asked.
Agent One nodded while giving him a dirty look.
"Alright then. Lead the way."
The owl demon rose from the bed and followed the two agents into what looked like the living room. There stood something dressed in black but it didn't look like it was actually physically there. It looked more like a shadow. The giant screen TV was completely black but Stolas kept his gaze on the creature before them.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"We are the Council, Prince Stolas. We apologize for what had happened."
"How can you apologize to him?!" Agent One snapped, "He stole Agent Three's body!"
The shadow turned to face the male human.
"It is not the prince's fault for this mishap. If you had closed down that operation this demon wouldn't have been forced into a dead human body. The magic used on him was not supposed to be here."
The shadow turned to Agent Two .
"Turn on the TV please."
Agent Two glanced at Stolas before grabbing the remote. She turned the TV on and they were faced with four more shadows on the TV.
"We apologize for this inconvenience Prince Stolas. We hope that you can understand that this was not our intention and it shouldn't have happened."
"Why did they have a blade infused with coldfire magic?" Stolas asked as he took a seat on the blue recliner, "That magic has been banned and hidden."
"We are aware and we are unsure how it happened."
Stolas hummed for a moment, tapping the chair with his fingers.
"We would like to offer these two agents to help you."
The owl demon frowned as the human woman let out a startled gasp.
"It will take some time for your power restabilize but we hope that you will understand you are bound to Agent Three's soul and body even if he is dead. You will be influenced by his soul as well. It won't be great enough to affect you negatively but you will know it's there."
The demon nodded.
"You mean we can't separate Agent Three and have him live?" Agent Two asked, her voice breaking up with emotion.
"No. We will explain why. You should sit down. Since you are assigned to Prince Stolas, there is a lot you need to understand."
The shadows took turns speaking but it was hard to tell who was talking since their voices sounded so familiar and the same. A few times both agents became emotional, stealing glances at Stolas. The demon said nothing as the shadows called the Council continued talking.
It was over an hour of talking. What was most shocking was they knew about Alastor, Vox, Velvet and the rest of the overlords. How they had gotten the info on the hierarchy in Hell was troubling but this was not the time to argue.
"Since we have informed you, you have no choice but to help him. If you refuse, you will be silenced. You two can go outside. We must speak to the prince alone."
Agent One and Agent Two got up and left the log cabin, leaving Stolas with the one shadow and the others on the TV.
"How in the hell did you find out about coldfire?" Stolas snapped, "We banned it eons ago!"
"We found it by accident. We only knew of heavenly weapons and demons but then a man showed up with weaponry we were unfamiliar with."
"There are only a few of us that know of coldfire. Have you leaked this to anyone else?!" he shouted angrily.
"We know. We have not. We, the Council, have told no one outside of us until now. The agents that work under us assume those to be hell wielded weapons. We stressed how dangerous they are and that they are to be destroyed immediately."
"So this has happened more than once?!"
The shadows shook their heads.
"You're the only demon they ever summoned."
The owl demon jumped, furious. His eyes started to glow bright red but his power wavered and died off quickly.
"You will be weak for a while. We have a proposition for you….. If you want help returning to Hell, help us with the coldfire situation. We are unsure if you can return to your normal self without Agent Three's soul but we want to try. I'm sure you agree that we shouldn't have such access to weapons and coldfire magic itself."
"Agreed."
"We are not sure how long it'll be until you get your full power back but take it easy. It may take longer if you exhaust yourself."
Stolas only nodded. What else could he do?
