I looked around at the green and forest scenery around me. I frowned as I tried to retrace my steps. Where was I and how did I get here? I turned around and froze seeing tall buildings in the distance with hovering aircrafts in the sky. I hadn't seen this place in five years. Wakanda.

"Sparks." I whipped around hearing Tony's voice.

Tony stood there in his nano Iron Man suit with his head exposed. I looked down at myself to see the Voltess suit on. I slowly met my gaze back to Tony.

"Tony." I muttered. I hadn't seen him in so long. Tony held a serious expression.

"We're coming for you, sparks. For everyone." I gave a puzzled look at his cryptic words.

"Coming for us? What are you talking about, Tony?" I asked and took a step forward.

"Just hang on a little longer, sparks." Tony turned around and began to walk away.

"What does that mean? Tony? Tony!" I yelled. I ran to him but as soon as I got to him he vanished.

"Tony!" I yelled out.

I let out a gasp as my eyes shot open. My breathing was slightly heavy as I stared around the master bedroom of the penthouse. The room was still relatively dark which meant the sun had yet to come up. It was just a dream.

I pushed myself up with my arm and threw my legs over the side of the bed. I looked over my shoulder to see Bruce sleeping soundly on his side of the bed. I turned my gaze to the floor and stared at my bare feet on the hardwood floor.

I hadn't dreamed about Tony or any of the other Avengers in years. Why are they suddenly coming back now? What did dream Tony mean by "we're coming for you"? I shook my head out of the thought. It was just a dream. Nothing more.

I got out of bed and grabbed my discarded clothes on the bedroom floor. I slipped my pajamas on and quietly walked out of the bedroom. I needed to get my mind off of the dream.

I shuffled my way through the darkness of the penthouse. I approached the bust and pressed in the eyes of it to open the door to the elevator. I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button down. The doors shut and the elevator started to move.

After a minute the elevator opened up to reveal the Batcave. My bare feet walked on the cool metal flooring of the cave. The only sound in the cave being the rushing water and the bats above. I walked to the main hub and sat down on the office chair to the monitors.

I logged back into the computers and pulled back up the decrypted files from Lex Luthor's company. If Lex Luther was hiding the fact that he had that green rock then that means he could be hiding other things. The guy gave me the creeps back at the party and he seemed unhinged. I'd bet all my experience of eleven years on hero work that Lex Luthor was shaping up to be a villain.

"What are you up to, Luthor?" I muttered under my breath. My hand moved the mouse as I browsed through the files.

I furrowed my brows seeing a file marked as "LL". I double clicked the file and an image of a redhead and blue eyed woman appeared on the screen.

"Lois Lane." I read the name out loud from the screen. I brought up more images of the woman. There were many pictures that looked like they were taken by a PI. Why was Lex Luthor stalking this woman?

Another photo of Lois popped up and I stopped seeing a lanyard around her neck. Not just any lanyard. A Daily Planet lanyard. There's no way…

I moved the mouse to the other monitor and pulled up the browser on the desktop. I quickly typed in "Daily Planet" and pulled up their website. I went to the directory where they listed their reporters. I scrolled down until I first saw the profile picture of Clark Kent. I rolled my eyes at the glasses that framed his face.

"Some secret identity there, Superman." I mumbled under my breath. A pair of glasses was the only thing he kept to cover his face. How more people haven't figured it out yet boggles my mind.

I continued to scroll down until I stopped seeing Lois Lane's profile picture. Lois and Superman worked at the same company. Now out of all of the reporters that Luther could be stalking, why only Lois?

"Unless she has a relationship with Superman." I muttered in realization. I leaned back in the chair and folded my arms. Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane are dating. If Luthor knew this then that also meant he found out Superman and Clark Kent are the same person. Lois has a target on her back.

A worry entered the back of my mind. If Luthor found out about Superman's secret identity, then who's to say he hasn't figured out mine or Bruce's. I grabbed the mouse once more and closed out the file on Lois. My eyes searched the other files and landed on one that read "LexCorp Meta-Human Research". I felt my blood run cold. Meta-humans. Are there more people like me out here?

I clicked on the folder and an error message popped up saying the file was encrypted. That sneaky son of a bitch. He encrypted this file separately from the rest. Lex Luthor didn't want anybody else finding this.

"Athena, you awake?" I called out to the AI.

"Always for you, Mel." The AI's voice came from the intercom of the Batcave.

"Work on cracking this encryption code on the meta-human research file. I need to get into it." I ordered.

"Yes ma'am. It may take me a few hours to fully unencrypt it." Athena advised.

"That's fine. I have to work in an hour anyway." I said and stood up seeing the time. Bruce should be awake by now. I let Athena get to work while I headed back for the elevator.

I went back up the elevator and the secret door opened as I stepped out. I could see sunlight begin to shine through the glass walls of the penthouse. A stronger light poured into the house that came from the master bedroom.

I quietly walked into the bedroom to see the light was coming from the bathroom. I could feel the warm humid air come from the bathroom. Bruce must have just gotten out of the shower. My guess was correct when I walked into view of the master bathroom.

Bruce had a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair still damp with water beads dropping from the strands. He was focused looking in the mirror. He had shaving cream along his face and his razor in the other hand. I walked closer to the bathroom and I could see Bruce's eyes glancing my way before going back to the mirror.

"Where did you disappear to?" He asked as I walked into the bathroom.

"I was taking another look at the LexCorp files." I answered. Bruce paused to look at me before paying attention back to the mirror. He dragged the razor along the skin of his face.

"Find anything?" He asked and rinsed off the blade before dragging it down his face again.

I grabbed my electric toothbrush and tube of toothpaste, "There's another encrypted file that has a separate code on it." I said and squirted the toothpaste onto the bristles.

Bruce raised an eyebrow, "So you're saying it's important." He started to shave his upper lip.

"Considering it's labeled Meta-Human Research, I'd say so." Bruce stopped and turned his head to me in slight shock. I turned on the toothbrush and started to brush my teeth.

"Lex Luthor is looking into meta-humans?" I nodded my head in response.

Bruce finished shaving and began to wash off the remaining shaving cream. He dried his face with a towel then applied aftershave on his hands. He put the aftershave on his face while I rinsed out my mouth.

"I have Athena cracking the encryption right now. It'll take a few hours." I finally spoke up.

"Good. We can look into it later. Something tells me he's looked into Voltess." Bruce said and walked past me. He discarded the towel around his waist as he stepped into the walk in closet.

"There's something off about Lex Luthor." I said as I grabbed my face wash headband.

"The guy's a weirdo, Mel. You met him at the party." I heard Bruce's voice come from the closet. I rolled my eyes as I put the headband on to pull back my hairline.

"I mean off as in he seems to be the type of guy that has an ulterior motive." I clarified. I turned on the sink and squirted some face wash onto my scarred hand.

"What ulterior motive could Luthor possibly have?" I heard Bruce's voice get closer as I lathered the soap in my hands.

"I don't know but I have a feeling it's tied to that rock. He wants it for a reason." I said as I applied the soap to my face.

I could see Bruce walk back in the bathroom from the mirror. He had his business pants and belt on. His white button up shirt tucked in but currently left unbutton exposing his bare torso underneath. The collar popped up and he had his black tie hanging over his arm. I closed my eyes as I started to splash water on my face to rinse the soap.

"He probably wants it for the same reason I do. To make a weapon out of it." I turned off the sink and grabbed the nearby towel to dry my face. I took off the headband and faced Bruce. He began to button up the white shirt.

"So you think he's doing it purely from a business standpoint? Why?" I asked.

Bruce shrugged, "If LexCorp manages to manufacture a weapon that can kill Superman. The US Government would pay a handsome price to have that insurance." Bruce guessed.

He finished buttoning up his shirt and took the tie around his arm and placed it around the popped up collar. He held both ends of the tie towards me. His brows raised as he silently gestured to me. I rolled my eyes but with a smile on my face. I took a step forward and took the tie from his hands.

"I know you know how to tie a tie." I said lightheartedly. Bruce smiled and I felt him place his hands on top of my hips.

"It doesn't look right if I do it." He countered as I glanced at him before focusing back on the task at hand.

"There's a right look?" I joked.

"Everyone knows a man's tie always looks better when the woman of their lives ties them." I chuckled slightly as I pulled the knot up to Bruce's neck.

"Oh really? Everyone?" I mused and fixed his collar around the tie. I flatten the tie against his torso as my palm ran over it. I looked up to Bruce and he had that look on his face I had seen hundreds of times in the past five years. Love was the only emotion that showed on his face.

"It's what my father use to tell me. My mother would always tie his ties in the mornings." Bruce spoke up softly.

My expression softened hearing him talk about Thomas and Martha Wayne. Bruce didn't bring them up often in conversation. He did occasionally when the two of us would do something that made him reminisce about being a little boy watching his parents interact.

I loosely wrapped my arms around his torso. He responded by putting his arms around my waist. I placed my chin gently on his chest as I looked at him.

"Do you want me to start doing that with you?" I asked him softly. Bruce smiled lovingly and leaned his head down.

"I would love for you to." He whispered. I lifted my head and met him halfway for the chaste kiss.

We broke the kiss and kept our foreheads together, "You have no idea just how much I love you, Mel. You still make my heart pound in my chest even after five years." He said quietly. I smiled widely. He still had the same effect on me.

"You still make my heart race." I told him. Bruce suddenly chuckled and pulled his head back to look at me.

"Mel, your heart is always racing." I rolled my eyes at his technicality. I pulled back and lightly hit my hand in the center of his chest.

"You're insufferable." His grin widened hearing me say those two words.

"Yet you love me." He countered. I shook my head with my smile on my face.

"I need to get dressed." I walked away from him and headed to the closet.

Bruce and I were in the conference room. The board had just finished meeting and it was just the two of us that remained. Bruce was standing at the end of the table and I sat at the end with my laptop opened up. Four of the screens were currently showing the news broadcast from today's hearing against Superman. Bruce of course wanted to watch it.

"Mr. Keefe, Mr. Keefe. Soledad O'Brien "In the Moment". Quick question for you. You're heading in to meet with the senators. What would you tell them?" I looked up to the screen to see a man in a wheelchair with double amputations. I frowned reading the title on the bottom. Former Wayne employee.

"He worked for you?" I asked and looked up to Bruce.

Bruce had a frown on his face, "He did. I remember him. I helped him the day of the attack."

"I've come here to tell them to wake up. This is flesh and blood. He's delivered a war here and this," He gestured to his amputated legs, "This is what war looks like. I have nothing." The man said bitterly. The look the man held showed clear spite for Superman. My chest tightened as memories of years ago came back.

Flashback

"Mr. Stark, I'm so sorry about the teleprompter. Miss Potts canceled at the last minute. They didn't have time to change it." A woman hurried up to me and Tony.

"It's fine. Huh restroom is up ahead?" I stared at Tony in concern. His heart was still in tatters from his and Pepper's break up. Seeing her name pop up on stage stung.

"Huh yes sir." Tony then walked ahead. I turned to the woman and man that worked at MIT. I gave them an apologetic smile.

"Thank you for having us today." I said politely and followed after Tony.

I walked through the backstage door and Tony had his hand leaned up against the wall of the back hallway.

"Tony?" The said man turned his head to me, "You alright?" Tony dropped his hand and hesitantly nodded.

"Yeah…yeah I'll be fine, sparks. Let's get out of here." He said quietly and headed in the direction of the elevators.

I followed behind him down the hall. Just in front of the elevators was a woman. We stopped just next to her and waited for the elevator.

"That was nice, what you did for those young people." The woman suddenly brought up. I glanced at her as she turned to face us.

"Ah, they deserve it." A brief pause, "Plus, it helps ease my conscience." I then glanced at Tony. He was beating himself up pretty hard right now.

"They say there's a correlation between generosity and guilt. But if you've got the money…break as many eggs as you like." She commented snidely.

I furrowed my brows as I stared at the woman. "Forgive me, but I'm sensing a little hostility in your voice." I spoke up.

"Really?" Her eyes bore into mine. There was a hidden anger behind them.

Tony frowned seeing the elevator button wasn't pushed. He leaned forward and pressed the button.

"You going up?" He asked.

"I'm right where I want to be." Her hand shoved into her purse. Both Tony and I instinctually reacted believing she was reaching for a gun.

"Whoa." I told her and grabbed her wrist in my hand. She looked up at me.

"Easy with the sudden movements. You're acting hostile and just stuffed your hand into your purse. I'm sure you can see why we're jumpy right now." I informed the woman.

"I don't have a gun." I looked down at the purse and I couldn't see any gleam of metal in there. I slowly released her wrist and backed up.

"Sorry, it's an occupational hazard." Tony apologized for both of us.

"I work for the State Department. Human Resources. I know it's boring, but it enabled me to raise a son. I'm very proud of what he grew up to be." She grabbed a picture from her purse and shoved it into Tony's chest.

Tony looked down at the woman's hand before back at her, "His name was Charlie Spencer." She looked from Tony to me. Was…her son is dead then.

A tense silence fell as she gave an intense look to myself and Tony, "You two murdered him…In Sokovia." I felt my stomach drop. Her son was one of the casualties against Ultron. Something that Tony, myself, and Banner had a hand in making.

"Not that that matters in the least to the two of you. You think you fight for us? You just fight for yourself. Who's going to avenge my son, Stark?" She removed her hand and Tony held onto the picture.

She turned her eyes on me next, "He's dead because of the Avengers like you, Moser. I blame the both of you." She turned around and walked down the hall until she turned the corner.

Tony and I stood there in silence. Her words hung heavy in the air. Now I wish there was a gun in her purse. Her words stung and hurt more than any damage a bullet could cause.

End of Flashback

"Mel? Mel!" I snapped out of it hearing Bruce's voice. I looked at Bruce wide eyed and confused. He had a look of concern on his face.

"You alright? You spaced out." I hesitantly nodded.

"Yeah just…this brings up a bad memory." I gestured to the interview that had ended by now.

"Did you hear what I said then?" I shook my head, "Can you tell Katie to get Greg in here?" I nodded and leaned forward to press the button on the intercom.

"Katie, get Greg up here in the conference room now please." I told her through the intercom.

"Right away, Mrs. Wayne." Katie's voice came back through the intercom.

"Why are your needing Greg?" Greg was the head of the HR department at Wayne Enterprises. He's the one that signed all the paychecks to the employees of Wayne Enterprises.

"That man's name is Wallace Keefe and he's supposed to be getting a check from the Victims Fund every month. He's talking about being left with nothing. How can a man getting a very sizable check once a month have nothing?" I frowned at that.

"Unless he's not getting the checks." I said and leaned back in the chair. Bruce nodded his head in agreement. That's why he wants to talk to Greg.

Greg walked in moments before carrying a stack of paper, "Greg, why hasn't he been getting our checks?" Bruce asked.

"He is, Mr. Wayne." I stood up and walked to stand next to Bruce, "He gets a check every month, but he returns them." Bruce picked up the papers and the top check had words written in red: "BRUCE WAYNE, OPEN YOUR EYES.

I frowned as Bruce set the top page on the table and the next one had the same red lettering reading: , I AM YOUR GHOST. I glanced at Bruce and he had a deep frown on his face.

He tossed the next one: BRUCE NO TRUCE. The next one: B. WAYNE I HAUNT YOU. And another one: BRUCE WAYNE = BLIND.

"Why haven't I seen this?" Bruce demanded as he gave a hard stare to Greg. He threw the rest of the stack of papers on the table.

"I'm sorry, I'll get to the bottom of it." Greg apologized and left.

"And there he is. Superman is here. He's actually at the United States capitol." I turned my head from the papers to the tv screen now showing Superman hovering over the capitol.

Bruce turned to the tv and rubbed his face with one hand before leaning on it. I turned back to the stack of paper and picked it up. There were several of them. I stopped when I got to one that was still in the envelope. I frowned seeing the "Return to Sender" stamp from the US postal service on it.

"Bruce," He looked back at me, "Has the company been sending these checks every month for the past two years?" Bruce nodded. I unclipped the envelope.

"Then how are we just discovering the address we were sending these to was bad?" I held up the envelope to show Bruce. Bruce turned around now and took the envelope from my hand.

"I think these checks went to somebody who is not Wallace Keefe and wrote these messages." I stated.

"Somebody that wants my attention." Bruce muttered.

"Another one came in this morning, Mr. Wayne." We both looked up seeing Greg return. He had held out an envelope to Bruce who took it. I gave a nod to Greg and he turned around to leave.

Bruce looked at the envelope before paying attention back to the screens. I watched next to him as the camera crews recorded the capitol building. Then the unthinkable happened. An explosion sounded and fire and smoke poured from the capitol. The camera man fell over before lifting back up to see the chaos on the screen.

My jaw went slack seeing the destruction. How did somebody bring a bomb to the capitol building?! They check for any guns, knives, or bombs before entering. This was an attack on Superman.

Bruce stared at the screens in shock before looking down and opening the envelope. He pulled out a folded newspaper. I recognized the picture of the Wayne Tower branch that got demolished two years ago on the front. The same red lettering etched on the newspaper: YOU LET YOUR FAMILY DIE. There was a smaller article paperclipped to the larger headline.

Bruce unclipped it and opened the smaller paper. My breath caught in my throat reading the headline that had haunted me for months. "Tragedy Strikes the Wayne's. Loss of Future Heir". Bruce's fingers crunched up the newspaper and his hands shook from anger.

I glanced at him through the corner of my eye. He glared menacingly at the screens. His eyes held nothing but anger and hatred. His muscles were tense and his jaw clenched shut.

I looked back at the papers on the desk and my eye caught something. I took my hand and separated the paper. My eyes widened seeing the red ink on this check had drawn out the capitol building. I turned my head back over to the screens. Whoever was behind the bombing was also behind sending back these messages.

Without warning, Bruce turned around and grabbed all the papers. "We're going home." He said gruffly before storming out of the conference room.

I took one last look at the screens. The camera turned at an angle and I froze seeing a glimpse of Lois Lane. She was there. I furrowed my brows and looked down as my mind raced.

First we find LexCorp has the only green rock known to hurt Superman. Next, is the file on Lois and meta-humans from LexCorp. Then, we have Wallace Keefe suddenly wanting to sue Superman after two years had gone by. How did he suddenly get the money for this court case anyway? Finally, the checks being sent to a wrong address and being returned with messages targeted towards Bruce.

I couldn't prove it in every scenario but Lex Luthor was starting to look like the prime suspect. He was the common denominator. If he is then that means my hunch was right about him knowing Bruce's secret life of being Batman. The newspaper article tells me that Luthor knows the grudge and anger Bruce feels towards Superman. That's why he's antagonizing him with the messages. He knows it'll get a reaction out of Batman that he wants. To go after Superman.

This type of plan was all too familiar to me. This plan was essentially the same plan Baron Zemo had. Why go through the trouble of dealing with the heroes yourself when you could just pit them against the other. Lex Luthor wanted Batman and Superman to destroy each other.
