I paced around the living room of the Stark family cabin. The sun had set by now and still no sign of Dick. Bruce and I had searched all over the surrounding area of the museum. Eventually, I had to take Morgan home while Bruce continued to search.

By this time I called for other Avengers to help find Dick. Sam and Bucky suited up and took to the streets of New York. I even managed to get a hold of Spiderman. The web slinger agreed to help search after I gave him a description of what Dick looked like and what he was wearing last. Now, I'm just waiting in hopes that one of them finds him.

New York isn't as bad as Gotham at night but if Dick somehow stumbles into Hell's Kitchen then that'll be a problem. I know Dick can handle himself in a fight but he's still just a kid. I'd have to hope he stays away from there but if he does at least Daredevil patrols that area.

"Mel, you should sit down. You're stressing yourself out even more and that's not good for you or the baby." Pepper's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I shook my head, "I can't sit still right now. I want to go back out there and continue searching." I said as I ran a hand through my hair.

"Bruce told you to stay here for a reason, Mel. You're getting too overwhelmed which I completely understand, believe me. I'd be doing the same if Morgan ran away, but your blood pressure is high and that's not good for the baby growing inside you." Pepper patted the spot on the couch next to her.

I gave a deep sigh before taking the empty spot next to Pepper. She grabbed one hand and rubbed my back with her other in a comforting manner.

"I'm sure Dick is fine. You said Bruce trained him himself." Pepper reassured me.

"I know, but he's still just a kid, Pep. There are bad parts of New York especially once night falls which it has. If Dick somehow stumbles into Hell's Kitchen…" I couldn't finish my sentence.

"Even if he does, Mel. You know there's a protector in Hell's Kitchen that stops exactly what you're thinking. You've met him personally." Pepper reminded me.

I nodded, "I know Daredevil would help and he would never let a kid get hurt under his watch. I still worry especially considering Daredevil was the only one I couldn't get a hold of tonight." I put my face in my hands.

"This is all my fault." My muffled voice came through my hands.

"This is not your fault, Mel." Pepper said gently.

I looked over at her with a hardened stare, "You didn't see the way he looked at me, Pep. I thought we got through the rough patch but apparently I was wrong. He hates me." I could still see the glare Dick had given me earlier in the museum. His eyes were filled with resentment.

"What exactly did he say, Mel?" Pepper asked.

"He got upset after I spoke to Morgan. He was fine when we first got there. He was having fun and then it was like a switch flipped. He blamed Morgan for whatever reason. Then he brought up the subject of not being his mother again and told me to stop pretending." Pepper paused before furrowing her brows slightly.

"You mentioned last night that Dick only started to act like this once he met Morgan?" I nodded my head briefly.

Pepper gave a sigh, "Mel, normally you are one hell of a detective unless it comes to situations that directly correlate to you." I gave her a look of confusion.

"What do you mean?"

Pepper huffed, "Dick is jealous of Morgan." My eyes widened at those words.

"What? Why would he be jealous?" I asked.

"You and Morgan are incredibly close and you two share a special bond. You've been trying to grow your own bond with Dick but it's hard for him. He sees how you act in front of Morgan and is jealous of that relationship. He wants to have that relationship with you but Dick doesn't strike me as the type of kid to say it outright." My gaze shifted to the floorboards below. Could that be true? Could Dick have wanted a closer relationship the past two months and just never said it?

No One's P.O.V.

Dick Grayson sat atop a random rooftop of New York City. He had his legs dangling over the edge while staring at the city lights. His face held a sour expression as the previous events flashed through his mind. Seeing the way Melody interacted with Morgan made his blood boil.

It started out as a slight pain when he first witnessed Melody with Morgan picking her up. The way Melody smiled at her and then a motherly kiss on the six year old's head hit him like a truck. Melody had never acted like that with him. Dick wanted to know why she hadn't but at the same time he was conflicted. He didn't want Melody to act like that to him because it would be too much like how Mary use to treat him.

Then, that pain and twinge of jealousy got worse last night. Dick had left his room to ask Melody a question when he saw and heard it. Melody was tucking Morgan in for the night. She gave the child a goodnight kiss and heard Melody tell Morgan "I love you". That rocked him to his core. Dick's hand clenched into a fist just remembering the night.

He had hurried back to his bed when Melody got up. He pretended to be asleep and he could feel Melody's gaze on him. He secretly hoped she'd walk in and do the same to him as she did with Morgan. She told him goodnight before closing his door. That had hurt more than Dick was willing to admit. She could tell Morgan that she loves her but she couldn't say it to him? Dick began to resent the six year old girl and her relationship with the woman who is supposed to be his adoptive parent.

This morning started out fine. Melody had made them breakfast before heading out to the museum. For a while there, Dick found himself having fun teasing and messing around with his family. Then Morgan came back around and asked to see the Iron Man exhibit. His happy mood was gone the instant he saw the way Melody smiled at Morgan. This time, Dick couldn't hold his comments back when Melody confronted him. Bruce had once again come to defense of Melody blindly which angered him further. All he knew was that he wanted to get away. He told Melody off before drawing attention to her and leaving. He ignored his father's calls for him as he slipped into the crowd. He didn't feel like facing either of them. He just wanted to be alone.

"Excuse me!" Dick froze hearing a voice behind him. He turned around and his eyes widened seeing a man in a crouched position at the top of the water tower on the roof. The man had a red and blue suit on with black stripes that looked like webs. Large white eyes on the mask and a spider symbol on his chest.

The man held up a hand in a wave, "Are you by chance Dick Grayson?" He asked.

Dick slowly brought his legs around the edge and stood up. His guard was on alert, "What if I am?" He questioned.

The man then put both hands up, "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm Spiderman. I'm a fellow Avenger and friend of Voltess. She called me to help look for you. She's worried sick about you, you know that right?" Spiderman stated. Dick watched in amazement as the man crawled down the side of the water tower. How was he sticking to the side of it?

Dick pointed to him, "How can you do that?" He asked as Spiderman jumped off and landed in a crouch position.

"I got bit by a radioactive spider a couple years ago. Part of my powers let me stick to walls." Dick furrowed his brows as he studied Spiderman. He sounded young, maybe not much older than himself.

"How old are you?" Dick asked him.

Spiderman shrugged, "Older than you. Come on, I need to take you back to Voltess." Spiderman took a step forward and Dick immediately took a step back.

"No. I'm not going anywhere with you. Especially if you're taking me back to her." Dick spat out with venom to his tone. Spiderman gave a sigh and put his hands on his hips.

"Why are you so angry at Voltess anyway? Aren't you her adopted son?" Spiderman questioned.

Dick glared at the masked hero, "Like you would even understand and Mel isn't my mom. I had a mom and she's gone." Dick muttered under his breath.

Spiderman sighed and hung his head, "I understand plenty." Dick scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Yeah right."

Spiderman crossed his arms now, "My parents died when I was six years old. I lived in California at the time and my only surviving relative was my aunt that lived in New York. I was put into the system for a couple of days until she was able to pick me up. Like I said, I understand where you're coming from." Dick's harsh look suddenly vanished.

"Sorry." Dick apologized quietly.

Spiderman put a hand up, "It's fine. It was a long time ago. Can I ask you something?" Dick looked at Spiderman quietly.

"Why are you doing this? Are you doing it just to hurt Mel? She obviously cares about you and you push her away." Spiderman asked.

Dick's gaze dropped to the roof, "I don't mean to push her away it's just…I see how she treats Tony Stark's kid and I don't know she doesn't treat me like that. At the same time though, I'm scared of what would happen if she did." Spiderman tilted his head in confusion.

"I'm confused. Why would you be scared of Mel acting like a mom?" Dick bit his lip and clenched his fists.

He gulped, "I was only eight when my mom was killed in front of me. Any memory I have of the word "mom" relates to her. I'm scared if I start calling Mel "mom" then I'll just be replacing her with my real mother. I don't want to forget about my mom." Dick said with his voice shaking as he spoke.

Spiderman gave a sigh, "So that's what this is really about." Spiderman walked over to the ledge Dick was sitting at earlier. He took a seat and gestured for Dick to take a seat next to him. Dick slowly walked over and joined the masked hero.

Spiderman leaned back on his hands as he stared at the city's skyscrapers, "I kind of had the same thought as a kid. When my aunt first took me in, I was angry and sad all the time. I remember telling her one night that I wanted my mom back and that she would never be my mom."

"Did she get angry?" Dick asked as he side eyed Spiderman.

The hero shook his head, "No, it was the opposite. She broke down into tears. She was trying her best and I threw it back in her face. I lost a mother that day but my aunt lost her sister that day too. She was grieving just as much as I was. It took me a while but eventually I realized that my aunt wasn't replacing my mom neither did she try to. My aunt was a fill-in since my mom was no longer with us. I still remember my parents." Spiderman turned his head to Dick who stared at him intently.

"The only way you'll forget about your mom is if you allow that to happen. Mel's doing her best just like my aunt did her best and you're being unfair by punishing her for doing that. Stop viewing Mel as a replacement. I know Mel well enough to know she would never try to replace your mom." Spiderman then stood up on the ledge.

Dick stared up at him as he held out his gloved hand, "Now, come on. Let's get you back to your parents." Dick stared at the hero's outstretched hand.

Dick took his and Spiderman easily lifted him back up to his feet. Spiderman then turned to have his back facing Dick. Dick eyed the heroes back with a raised brow.

Spiderman pointed to his back with his thumb, "Climb on. I won't drop you. Promise." The twelve year old climbed onto the young superheroes back. Dick wrapped his arms around his neck and his legs around his torso.

"Hold on tight and don't let go." Dick was curious as to what exactly Spiderman was going to do. His question was answered when he saw Spiderman flick his wrist out. He saw what looked like a web shoot out of his wrist and latched onto the adjacent building.

Spiderman gripped the material and looked over his shoulder, "Hope you're not afraid of heights." Dick opened his mouth to talk but immediately closed as Spiderman stepped off the roof. Dick shouted as he felt his heart drop into his stomach.

He clung tighter to the masked hero as he shot another web on a building. Dick looked down below and could see the cars below as Spiderman swung them above it. This was not how Dick expected Spiderman to get around the city.

Meanwhile…

Bruce stopped at a corner and turned his head hearing the sound of an engine. He watched as Bucky approached him on his bike.

"Anything?" Bruce asked him as he got off his bike.

Bucky gave a solemn look and shook his head, "I drove down several streets more than twice. Nothing." He stated.

Bruce cursed on his breath and ran a hand through his hair. He couldn't go back to Melody without Dick. They needed to find him tonight. The sound of a thruster flew overhead. Bucky and Bruce looked up as Sam landed in front of them as his wings folded back.

"I flew over the entire Midtown and Manhattan area. Redwing's scans didn't pick anything up." Sam said with a huff.

"We need more people if we want to cover more ground. He has to be somewhere in the city." Bruce stated.

"We could try contacting S.W.O.R.D. They might help if they know it's a favor coming from Voltess." Sam suggested.

Bucky nodded, "They have surveillance everywhere. It's possible a random camera could have picked him up somewhere."

"I don't think that's necessary." The three men looked up hearing a voice.

"Spiderman? Mel call you?" Sam asked, seeing the web slinger perched on a building's fire escape.

Spiderman nodded, "She did. I was heading her way when I saw you guys. I found the kid on a rooftop in Queens." Bruce took a step forward. His serious gaze on the masked hero.

"Take me to exactly where he is." Bruce demanded.

"Well that's just it. I brought him with me." Spiderman looked down which caused the three men to follow his gaze.

Dick walked out from the shadows of the building. He had a weary look as he stared at Bruce. Bruce immediately rushed over to the boy and knelt down to his level.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he checked the boy for any injuries.

"I'm fine, dad." Bruce sighed in relief then pulled the twelve year old to him and hugged him tightly.

"Thank god you're okay." Dick was taken back by the sudden hug from his father. Dick slowly wrapped his arms around Bruce and returned the hug.

Bruce eventually broke the hug and stood up straight. He looked up at Spiderman who was watching them silently.

"Thank you." Bruce thanked the web slinger.

Spiderman nodded his head, "No problem. Mel's an Avenger. We'll always be there for her when she needs us. It was nice finally meeting you by the way." Spiderman flicked his wrist to shoot his web and jumped off the fire escape. Bruce watched as he swung away using his webs.

Sam pointed to Dick, "Don't run off like that again, kid. You have no idea how worried sick you made your parents." Sam scolded the boy.

Dick hung his head, "I know. I'm sorry, dad." He apologized to Bruce.

Bruce sighed and placed a hand on Dick's shoulder. He once again knelt down to be at eye level with the boy.

"Can you at least tell me why?" He asked softly. Dick rubbed his arm in a soothing manner.

He nodded his head slightly, "Yeah…"

Melody's P.O.V

I waited on the porch swing as I had one hand over my mouth and the other holding my phone. My eyes kept reading over text that Bruce had sent me ten minutes ago.

'I found him. We're coming back.'

I had been waiting on the porch since I got that text. Pepper sat next to me on the porch swing waiting with me. My sensitive ears then picked up the sound of tires on a gravel road. I stood up as I saw a white SUV pull up to the driveway.

I waited as the headlights turned off and the drive side door opened to reveal Bruce. He closed the drive side door and took a couple steps behind him. He opened the back passenger door and my breath caught in my throat seeing Dick step out.

I rushed over to him as Bruce closed the door behind Dick. I knelt down at Dick's level and checked over him.

"I'm fine." Dick muttered to me and had a sad expression on his face.

I gave a sigh of relief and cupped his face in my hands. I didn't say anything as I gave him a relieved smile. I leaned forward and placed a motherly kiss on his forehead. I heard a sniffle come from Dick.

I pulled back and I was stunned to see tears in Dick's eyes and fall down his cheeks. His lower lip quivered as he stared at me through his teary eyes. His walls just completely broke down.

"I'm sorry for running away. For everything. I'm so sorry, mom." Dick suddenly embraced me. I was speechless. He just called me 'mom'.

My eyes glanced up at Bruce and he had a heartwarming smile on his face. Dick really said it, I wasn't the only one that heard it. I hugged Dick back and kissed the side of his head and rubbed his back. The boy shook more in my arms as I felt him cling to me.

"It's okay. I'm just glad you're okay. I was so worried." I told him gently. I wonder what happened while Dick was gone for him to be acting like this now. Something happened but I'd have to wait to ask him exactly what.

I smiled softly at Dick as the young boy fell asleep curled up on the couch with his head laying on my lap. We were back at the Avengers Compound. Dick didn't want to go to sleep yet so we decided on watching a movie.

The end credits were rolling as I gently ran my fingers through his dark hair. I felt a stir next to me. I looked over to see Bruce also passed out. He had his feet propped up on the ottoman and his arms spread over the back of the couch. His head leaned against the back cushion of the couch. He was exhausted from searching all day and all night for Dick.

I looked back down at Dick. He had explained everything on the car ride here. Spiderman was the one that found him and the two of them apparently had a talk. Dick didn't go into detail but he said that Spiderman made him realize something that he was doing that was wrong. I'd have to find Spiderman later and thank him in person.

I looked back over at Bruce. I leaned forward and gently shook him to wake him up. Bruce's head immediately snapped up in slight alarm before seeing it was just me. He looked at the tv screen and stifled a yawn.

"I fell asleep?" He asked groggily.

"Both of you did." I informed him and gestured to Dick, "Mind helping me get him to bed?" Bruce smiled and kissed me on my temple before getting up.

He leaned down and effortlessly picked up Dick and headed down the hall. I got up and turned off the tv before following them.

I walked down the end of the hall to the room Dick was staying in. I walked into the room to see Bruce lay him down in the bed. Bruce pulled the comforter over him and rested his hand on top of Dick's head. I stood next to Bruce as he smiled down at Dick. His thumb gently brushed stray hairs away from his forehead.

"I love you, son." Bruce said just above a whisper.

I glanced up at Bruce with a smile, "We both love you." I added. Bruce smiled at me before he backed away. I took a step forward and placed a kiss on his forehead before taking Bruce's extended hand.

Bruce clasped my hand in his and led us out of the room. I grabbed the door handle and began to close it.

"Dad, mom?" I stopped hearing Dick's voice, "I love you guys too." A large smile grew on my face hearing these words come from Dick. His walls were finally, completely down.

"Get some sleep, kiddo. We'll see you in the morning." I told him softly. I could see Dick nod his head before shifting to his side as I closed the door.

I turned to see Bruce beaming at me, "What?" I asked him with a smile still on my face.

"He's calling you mom now. I'm just happy about that." I leaned against Bruce and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"Hopefully, now we can enjoy the rest of our vacation without too much trouble." Bruce chuckled and began to lead us back to my room.

"How much trouble can we find ourselves here? New York isn't Gotham." Bruce pointed out. He's not wrong, but there's a saying of famous last words for a reason. If only we knew that trouble would end up finding us.

I thought I would go ahead and upload another chapter for Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to any dad's reading this! :)
