Sarah looked at herself in the mirror. She smiled brightly as she giggled and spun in front of the mirror. She loved the styles of the costumes she was going to have. She looked like a real princess. She was called for hair and make-up, so she went and sat down.
Her dad had gotten her a morning smoothie on the way here. So, she sipped on it as she got her hair fixed up. She was being pampered, and she loved it.
"Oh, it looks like one of the owls escaped." One of the actors said looking outside their tent. Sarah looked over and tensed. A familiar looking owl was sitting on a branch that was by the crew tent, looking in.
Her breath was shaky as she looked at it. It was looking right back at her. She looked away. "I'll try and catch it." Someone else said, getting up and walking over but stopped. "Oh wait. It's not one of ours. It doesn't have a tag." They said, turning around to finish getting ready.
"It's so pretty!" A female actress said looking at the bird. "I've seen better." Sarah mumbled. The owl didn't stop looking at her. Sarah closed her eyes as they worked on her make-up. She now felt naked. She hated this feeling.
When Sarah was finished, she got up and went to the mirror to look at herself fully. She went to her table and sat down. She yawned and started to finish her smoothie as she looked things over.
She looked up and saw that the owl was gone. Thankfully.
She was told that she was needed to get into character and get started with the king and queen characters. Fluffing her hair one last time, she walked out.
Sarah smiled and greeted people in character. Keeping the accent perfectly. She even accepted weeds that little kids thought were flowers. Soon she was put on break, which she was thankful for. She was worn out and hot. She pulled her hair up and headed to get something to eat.
Thankfully they had the joust next.
Sarah was a bit nervous about it. She has to kiss the winners cheek as they give the winner their prize. She never knew who the winner was only the jousters knew. And that was so the people playing the royal family can react naturally.
At least the kiss wasn't on the lips.
Jareth had been watching her while his queen's hair and make-up was done up. She looked beautiful as always, and she glowed happily looking at her reflection when she got out of the changing rooms.
He sat there on a branch in his owl form.
She looked at him, and quickly looked away from him, but his gaze never left her. "It's so pretty!" One of the women said. Sarah shrugged. "I've seen better." Sarah said to herself. But he was able to hear her.
Minx wanted him to be angry.
Once he had her finally, he will show her what happens when she tries his patients.
Jareth watched her as she worked. She was a great princess. But of course she was. She was born to be royalty. To be his princess then his queen. She was born to be his. She just had to stop being so stubborn about it.
He heard about the prize of the winning jousting. A kiss from the princess. From Sarah.
So, so he knew he had to be in the joust. Going over to where the jousters were and used his magic to get rid of one of the actors. He made sure he was the one who will win today. He will make sure to get the winning kiss.
No one will feel Sarah's pure lips but him. They belong to him and him alone.
Sarah sat with the other royal characters as the joust started. She watched intently as it happened. She sipped the water in her goblet. She flinched and winced when they were hit. Feeling bad for them and the horses, she bit her lip.
Sarah hoped that the actors and the horses were ok. She knew the jousters were paid well cause of the attacks. There would be sword fighting tomorrow. She hoped they are good and safe. Sarah cheered with everyone as another winner came out on top.
There would be multiple winners to battle it out so that there would be one winner.
Standing as she clapped with her mock parents as the final winner came out on top. The black Knight. Sarah was given a rose, and walked with the mock parents to the middle of the battle field.
They stood with the winner and Sarah smiled brightly as people clapped and cheered around them all. "Please Sir Knight. Remove your helmet and receive your prizes." The actor playing the King.
Sarah had met all the actors. So, when the Black Knight took his helmet off, Sarah wanted to run away. How could this be true! She just figured the owl was just all he can do without being wished here.
But there stood the Goblin King. But he looked more human for the role.
Sarah was nudged to make her get back into character. She put a smile back on and forced herself to curtsy as she held the rose out. "Please accept this rose." She said. Jareth took it with a smug grin. "It would be my honor to accept your rose princess." He announced, getting cheers.
An expected look was given by the Queen to Sarah, making her sigh and got on her tiptoes quickly kissing his cheek. She quickly moved away, behind the king character. Which confused him.
Everyone cheered for the winning knight. Sarah and the other two royal characters left. Sarah went to the employee tents. She took some deep breaths to calm her racing heart. Before she had a panic attack.
She will be fine. She wasn't wished away. Nor was anyone around her. So, he can't do anything. She is fine. Everything will be fine. She should see if she can find something of iron to wear at all times. Fae's are hurt by iron. So that's what she needed.
She nodded to herself and took a few more deep breaths before going out to play her role.
Everything will be fine.
Right?
