The three of them walked home, their sensei dropping Yamo off at the old Uchiha compound. She walked in by herself heading towards a house to the eastern edge of the compound. She stepped inside the small building and walked past a dusty table towards a hallway and there was two bedroom, one she walked right past to her room. On the floor was a single mattress, in the corner a dresser and on top of it was a sheathed sword with a red handle wrap and a single cracked dark brown bracer.
She walked up to the dresser, "Mom, dad, tomorrow is the exam before I become a ninja. I'll kill Itachi for betraying our clan, and I'll restore the clan. I wish you were still here, I don't like being alone." She looked to the side at a mirror, "Why did I survive, and be left here without you? Why did he do it?"
Chapter 2: Ninja Exam
The faintest rays of light entered Yamo's room, her coal black eyes opening slowly as she sat up. Quickly she made her way to the door frame of her room and grabbed a kunai stuck into the wall and flattened the spikes of hair the flared from her scalp as she marked her height. "I grew again." She said to herself. Down the door frame was marks of her height with dates written next to them. But in the last four months she has grown a total of two feet to her current height of four foot eight inches. "Is this because of my dad's clan?" She asked her self as she moved to the wash room, she took a quick shower and sat down to brush her black hair that went down to her knees.
She had tried going to the barber many times but had quickly learned that her hair was just to tough to cut, at least it seems to have stopped growing at this length. The scrape of the brush filled the room as she styled her hair the best she could, her hair would naturally spike off as it went from her scalp down her back. Once she was done she got dressed and headed to the Uchiha training yard, where she kept training mannequins to practice in the morning. From a weapon rack she grabbed one of dozens of training swords and filled her shuriken and kunai pouch.
There she trained for the next two hours with her kenjutsu, her sword skills, fire style jutsus and her shuriken and kunai throwing.
She stepped up to a training dummy and readied her blade. She swung down at the collar bone, up at the right hip and right across the face, the wood of the training dummy shattered under each strike, and the broken tool lay on the ground as she sighed. She set the training blade back on the rack and she moved to the center of the training field.
She took in a breath as she slowly brought her hands together in front of her about five inches apart, "Energy release." The dust around her was kicked into a whirlwind as blue chakra poured from her right hand and another red energy from her left, her father's energy. Veins bulged in her arms as her muscles strained to control it. Her teeth gritted together as the powers combined. The two energies swirled together in a tight spiral the size of a small plate.
She held the release in her right as she reached down and grabbed a shuriken and pooled the energy around the shuriken and pulled back to throw it. To any that would have watched her, at that could be seen was a streak of red and blue going from her hand to the target on the far side of the training field. It had it a few inches off center.
Yamo fell to her knees as she panted, sweet dripping from her forehead. The insides of her palms smoking. After catching her breath, she went back to her house and grabbed some bread and a jar of blue berry jam. She put the bread in the toaster and picked up the jar. With a pop it opened as she set it down and grabbed a knife to spread it on her toast.
She leaned against the counter as she had her breakfast. Quickly cleaning up after her she grabbed her school supplies and left the compound.
Yamo arrived five minutes before the bell at the ninja academy like she dose everyday. Her classmates talking to each other, but she turned slightly to the as she heard two girls arguing. Ino and Sakura pushed into the classroom trying to one up each once again. And soon after them came Naruto.
She waved him over, "Naruto, come on you dunderhead." She motioned for him to sit next to me.
He glanced at Sakura and then ran over to me hoping in the seat next to me, "How are you today Yamo!?"
Yamo pulled him down into the seat, "Don't yell you dunce. We have to take the exam today Naruto. You better not fail Naruto."
"Come on, I'll do it Yamo. After all how else will I become Hokage?" He smiled widely.
"Come on Naruto, you know that's impossible to be the Hokage you have to be a smelly old man." The black haired girl laughed.
"You know that's not true Yamo!" He yelled as Iruka and Mizuki sensei entered the room.
"Naruto settle down. We are going to begin the Exam now." Iruka sensei said as we settled into our seats.
The exam started with the written portion, and Yamo was able to answer most of the questions with some degree of confidence and may have quietly given a few answers to Naruto when she could. Next was the Jutsu test.
We were going in class order so had to wait as everyone went, but... "The test is the clone Jutsu technique." Iruka announced.
Hinata, Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, Sakura, and others went first, then it got to Naruto, "Clone jutsu is his worst one." Yamo said to herself.
"Well that's too bad for him." She heard Sakura say next to her.
"Sakura, I don't get why you hate him so much." She said to the pink haired girl.
"You see how acts, and even the adults agree he's trouble for the village." Sakura smirked.
"But everything Naruto has done is that bad." Yamo said. She didn't understand why the adults hated her friend, even what she could remember of her mother was that she had a seething hatred for the blonde haired boy.
"Clone Jutsu!" Naruto yelled out as chakra flared around him, only to create a single clone face down on the floor. but in the air, clearly dead.
"YOU FAIL!" Iruka yelled.
"Now Iruka sensei, this is his third time taking the exam, and he has been putting in a lot of work. Maybe we could cut him a break." Mizuki sensei said.
Naruto started to smile but... "No, the exam states that he must be able to create 3 working clones. He just can't do it. And so he can't pass."
Soon Yamo's turn came and I stepped in front of the class. "No failing yourself just to stay here with Naruto. Yamamoto." Iruka said before she could begin.
Yamo only sighed. "Clone Jutsu!" her chakra flared around her body as she created five clones around herself.
"You pass." Iruka said as the young Uchiha turned to Naruto.
"Hey, I'm..." She started as Naruto just turned and left the Academy.
"I'll go talk to him." Mizuki sensei said as he put a hand on her shoulder. "He'll be alright. Here this is yours." He handed her a ninja headband.
"Yes Sensei, thank you sir." She took it holding it in her hand.
Yamo sat on the wall the surrounded the Uchiha compound as she overlooked the outskirts of Konoha, she had removed the blue fabric and sewn a red cloth in it's place. She took it and tied over her forehead. She glanced up at the full moon hidden by the clouds before looking back down at the ground. "Mom. Dad. I did it..."
Suddenly her head snapped up when she heard men yelling in the streets. "Find Naruto, he's stolen the forbidden scroll that was used to seal the nine tailed fox!"
Yamo squatted on the wall as she tilted her head, "Scroll? Nine tailed fox? Naruto what are you doing?" She looked to either side of her before rushing out into the night, making her way towards the woods.
She leaped from building to building when...
"Where are you going Yamo?" Iruka sensei asked as he landed in front of the girl as she balanced on a power pole.
"To find my friend." She said as her teacher looked her up and down.
"If anyone is going to know where Naruto is, it's you. Let's find him before the jonin do. I should be able to smooth things over." He said as he turned towards the forest with me.
Soon they were in the forest and sitting on the ground with the scroll was Naruto. I dropped down next to him. "Idiot what were you thinking?" I asked him as he jumped up in the air.
"Yamo!" He fell on his butt at Iruka's feet. "Sensei!"
"Naruto, why did you steal that scroll? It has village secrets in it." Iruka started to scold him.
"Mizuki sensei said that if I learned a Jutsu from this scroll I'll be able to graduate. So I got it from old man Hiruzen's office and I have been training here all night to show you sensei." Naruto smiled widely.
"Mizuki?" Iruka asked.
"I should have known you two would show up." All three of us looked up at the tree where Mizuki was, on his back two oversized shuriken. "Naruto, you just made this too easy for me."
"Naruto, Yamo stay behind me." Iruka ordered us. "Mizuki you used Naruto to steal the scroll, your planning on selling the secrets inside it, aren't you?"
"Sensei, what's going on?" Naruto asked as he clutched the scroll.
Iruka threw a kunai at Mizuki only for Mizuki to turn into a log. "Substitution jutsu!" Yamo yelled out.
As they looked around one of Mizuki's massive shuriken struck Iruka in the back spraying blood onto the two children. "NOO!" Yamo yelled out as she pulled a kunai out and threw it at where the shuriken had come from.
"Run you two." Iruka reached back and pulled the weapon from his back.
Yamo reached down and grabbed Naruto by the sleeve, but as she turned her own kunai was thrown back at her cutting her on the arm.
"Now, do you really want that Iruka, after all you should hate Naruto as much as anyone else." Mizuki sneered. "Infact if Yamo knew, she would turn a kill Naruto herself."
"Don't you dare Mizuki." Iruka glared at him.
Yamo pulled a shuriken, "What is he talking about sensei!?" Naruto asked as he held the scroll.
"Well it's that Naruto is the monster that killed her father, the nine tailed demon fox!" Mizuki smiled. "He killed Iruka's parents as well that night!"
Yamo let go of Naruto as she turned to look at Iruka. "He's lying, he has to be lying..."
But Iruka said nothing.
Yamo turned to Naruto... but he was running away.
"See... now I have to kill that monster." Mizuki, "As well as you two since you know my plan."
"Naruto isn't the fox." Yamo said as her energy spiked, "ENERGY RELEASE: SHOOTING STAR SHURIKEN!" The rage that boiled in her allowed her to draw on her inner chakra and the power she inherited from her father. The red and blue bolt shot through the stomach of Mizuki. She knelt down and picked up Sensei before jumping up into the forest.
"Yamo, I have a plan." Iruka said to her.
Naruto was jumping through the trees, scroll on his back when Mizuki leapt out kicking him in the face and sending him to the ground. Naruto pushed his back to a tree. "No get away!" He called out.
"Now, now little fox, it's finally time to die." Mizuki snarled as he held a kunai, one hand clutching the wound in his stomach. "Then I'm going to gut your little girlfriend for doing this to me."
As Mizuki raised the kunai, Naruto released a puff of smoke turning into the wounded Iruka. "Nice try Mizuki, but you're wrong about Naruto, fox or not he is the single hardest working student I have, I'm so hard on him because I so much of myself in him. And there was no way you could have turned Yamo against him as she holds him so dear as a friend."
In the trees around them there were two people, one holding a large scroll, and the other holding two more shuriken. "Come on..." Yamo said to herself.
But before she could act, Naruto acted first, stepping out into the clearing. "SENSEI!"
"Naruto! Get out of here!" Iruka yelled at him.
"Damn it!" Yamo said to herself.
"Shadow clone Jutsu!" Naruto made a hand sign with his two hands and...
Hundreds of Naruto's appeared on the ground, in the trees, everywhere. "YOU WON'T HURT THEM!" Naruto yelled out as they all charged him.
The rouge ninja was beaten to the ground. Yamo dropped down next to Naruto as they walked towards, Iruka. "Naruto come here, and both of you close your eyes." Yamo and Naruto closed their eyes and waited as Iruka did something. "Okay your open your eyes." Iruka said and as they did, Yamo saw that Iruka had taken off his head band and put it on Naruto. "Naruto Uzumaki, you graduate."
And chapter 2 is done.
