The sun also rises
Color me surprised when I dropped Damon off at the boarding house and John was there. I trusted the two of them not to kill each other so I didn't stay, I needed to stop at Gramm's and grab a few grimoires before I headed back to the house anyway.
My phone rang as I was driving, it was Tyler's ring tone so I answered it without a second thought."Tyler?"
"Alicia, I'm okay." He said, I looked up at the sky and scratched my head. I wasn't sure how long he was in wolf form last time but it seemed rather quick for him to be back to normal.
"Where are you?"
"My house, I'm with Caroline & Matt." He answered. I pulled into Gramm's driveway and turned off my car, I bolted up the steps in a hurry and used that same spell Bonnie had used to find the spell to absorb the magic. I needed a long distance spell, Damon killed one of Klaus' witches but he hadn't killed Jonas' daughter. I'm gonna take that bitch out before I even get there.
"Is she okay? Did they hurt you? Damon told me what happened." I replied, scooping up the grimoire from the floor, I really loved having the power of several witches because man, I needed next to no prep time.
"We're fine, he got us out but I ended up turning while we were running. I think I might've bit Damon." He replied, I folded the corner of the page down and shoved the grimoire into my bag along with two others.
"You did, we're gonna save him though. Don't worry about it." I tried to sound confident, but there wasn't anything we could do for Damon and he'd be dead before we knew it.
"Jules said there wasn't a cure?"
"Fuck Jules, respectfully." I replied, bolting down the steps and back to the car."You don't stress about it though, just stay your pretty little self inside with Caroline & Matt. I'll find you guys later."
"What are you about to do?" Tyler asked skeptically, if things went as planned we'd be killing Klaus if they didn't, well I didn't quite figure out exactly what was gonna happen from there.
"Kill some people, no big deal." I shrugged, before Tyler could even argue I hung up the phone. I put my car into drive and headed to the witch's house. I had a bit of time before anything was supposed to happen, and I think once I got to the house, I could kill Greta and then show up, take her place and then Bonnie come and we jump him. It was a solid plan to me.
I got to the house fairly quickly, I collected the grimores then headed inside. Thankfully only Bonnie & Jeremy were here still, the others should probably be joining us shortly.
"So, Bonnie." I smiled, she and Jeremy were flipping through grimoires most likely trying to find something to help Elena.
"What are you about to do?" Bonnie asked she didn't even bother looking away from her book, Jeremy however paused and gave me a look. I handed him a grimoire and sat down beside Bonnie, pulling out the one with the spell I was looking at earlier.
"So I'm gonna kill Klaus's other witch, and take her place." I said quickly, Bonnie didn't fully process what I said at first and kept on reading. She slowly turned the page and looked up at me, her green eyes looked angry yet intrigued at the same time.
"And how do you intend on pulling that off?"
"This spell right here, it's pretty powerful but I can one shot her from here and then make Klaus think I'm swooping in to save the day." I pointed at that spell, Bonnie read over it and raised an eyebrow.
"You know this spell won't be one you can do by yourself if we lose the extra power right?" Bonnie asked."The stuff it would typically require is hard to come by."
"I know, we need to hurry up before anybody else gets here. I trust Elijah but I also don't trust him to kill his brother, so if I can get Klaus to let me take her place. I might be able to get us into good enough standing with them that we won't die." I explained, Bonnie shook her head but held her hands out to me.
"Let's do this." I grinned taking her hands, the candles around us lit up as two of us sat cross legged in front of each other with the book open between us.
"I think it's a horrible idea. And this spell is definitely black magic." Bonnie replied,we both looked over the spell to get the wording down before closing our eyes. I took a deep breath and cleared my mind.
"I've been known to dip and dabble into black magic." I shrugged, Bonnie pinched the palm of my hand.

As we chanted, I saw flashes of her and this was the first time I was truly afraid of having this much power. We didn't need an item of her's, any hair, any blood. I just focused on an unknown witch, and we found her.
Greta held the moonstone in her hand, Klaus watched on with a grin on his face while Jenna, Elena & Jules stood trapped in flaming circles.
Greta awkwardly paused, and Klaus' smile faltered. Greta tried to shake it off but her nose started to bleed, she reached up and touched it forcing herself to keep the spell going.
"It's working, I can see her." Bonnie said, when Greta doubled over and started to cough up blood Bonnie & I let go of each other's hands. I predict the girl had a bit longer before she dropped and I needed to get there just as she did.
"I'll see you soon." I pulled her into a tight hug and went out back to the car, they weren't doing the ritual too far from where we were so it shouldn't take me longer than 15 minutes or so to walk there. I followed the strong feeling of magic in the air as I walked.
"Alicia." I heard a voice out of nowhere, I spun on my heel looking for the source of it but didn't see anyone. I went back to walking but heard it again.
"What?" I asked, I waited a moment but didn't hear anything else. I turned back and jumped when I saw Emily standing in front of me."Emily?"
"Alicia, do not abuse the power we've given you." She warned, I raised an eyebrow confused.
"I'm on my way to kill Klaus? You watched us kill his witch." I replied.
"Did you kill her for good or for selfishness? That spell you used will punish you if it's for the latter." Emily explained, I scoffed.
"She wants to make Klaus a hybrid for what reason? I did it for good. Besides, she'll be with her family." I tried to walk off but Emily blocked me again.
"Do not let your affliction with Vampires make you lose yourself." Emily said, this time before I could say anything she vanished leaving me on edge with a chill up my spine.
"Fucking witches." I hissed as I kept walking, I let out a small sigh of relief seeing Greta bent over the altar with Klaus at her side, I imagined he'd tried to give her blood but it wouldn't work.
"You!" Klaus hissed. I take it he was so concerned with Greta he didn't notice my presence at first. He flashed over to me, but he wouldn't get the opportunity to knock me out again. I waved my hand and stopped him, mere inches away from me.
"Is that anyway to treat a lady?" I tilted my head in Greta's direction, she was doubled over on the ground now clutching her neck." I'll be blunt with you, you doubted my potential. So I killed her, she's got about 30 seconds left."
Greta let out a sickening croak before collapsing in her own blood. Klaus looked back at her and glared at me, I knew if he was free right now I'd be dead.
"Do you know what you just did? I will kill everyone in this town because of you."
"You killed my sister, I killed your witch." I shrugged, I strolled over to the altar where Greta once stood, I nudged her body out the way, careful not to get any blood on my boots."I told you, I'm going to be your witch did I not?"
"Alicia? What are you doing?" Jenna asked as the relief washed from their faces almost immediately.
"Why should I expect you to actually help me?" He hissed, I knew once I stopped restraining him I was as good as dead.
"I have nothing to lose." I shrugged, I prayed I was actually able to convince him not to kill me and that my interference was able to buy Bonnie some more time.
"If you cross me, I will kill you." Klaus said, giving in. I dropped my hold on him and turned to Jules, the blonde glared at me with an evil smirk I let the fire around her down.
"Everything I did, I did so Tyler wouldn't be alone." Jules yelled, Jules started to shift and tried to run away but either underestimated Klaus or she really just thought she had a chance. He caught her and ripped her heart out her chest before she could even react. Her eyes stared at me, almost as if she was pleading with me.
"I told her the next time I saw her, I was gonna kill her." I shrugged. Elena & Jenna looked on in shock as Klaus threw her body to the ground. Klaus walks over to me he looks anything but fearful of me as he squeezes her heart letting the blood run down into the bowl.
The air feels so much different than when I was on my way here, it was hard to explain but I think it was a sign the spell was working, I felt empowered and I did nothing.
"Tell me it's working." Klaus grinned, he stared at me with his blue eyes for a second. In a different world this might've been hot but right now..
"It's working." I gulped, I knew exactly what I signed up to do but I don't think I would be able to look at myself in the mirror after tonight.
"Hello Jenna." Klaus grinned walking over to her, I wasn't going to take that ring down around her until I had to. We all loved Jenna.
"Let her go, I understand that I have to die but she doesn't." Elena cried, she got close to the fire I had to intensify the heat to get her to step back the last thing any of us needed was for her to set herself on fire trying to save Jenna.
"Elena!" I yelled.
"Careful." Klaus said, he gave me a look almost as if he was telling me what I have to do without saying it.
"Elena, don't." Jenna said, she looked at me sadly. I was hoping by now somebody would show up to intervene.
"No, Jenna we can't leave Jeremy without a family." Elena begged, for a moment I forgot about what all this meant for Jeremy he would truly be alone, two dead girlfriends, the entire family dead except for John." I followed your rules, I did everything that you asked. I didn't run. Please."
I felt for Elena she tried to do all the right things, and Damon fucked it up for her, he'd signed Jenna's death warrant the moment he saved Caroline. Although I think if Jenna knew that she would be more okay with dying so Caroline didn't.
"Well,well." Klaus mumbled he turned his head to the top of the waterfall, the three of us strained our eyes to see what was up there but couldn't."If you do anything-"
"Yeah, you'll kill me. You aren't the first person to say that." I shrugged Klaus gave me one last look before disappearing, I bolted from the altar and in front of Elena & Jenna.
"Get her out of here." Elena pleaded.
"She can't." Jenna replied, she gave me a sad smile as if she already accepted her fate.
"Alicia, just take down the spell." Elena ordered, I scoffed and Jenna laughed.
"You two are about to fight."
"She's bossy." I rolled my eyes, Elena looked irritated in her circle.
"He's gonna need another vampire, and there aren't many of those around and there isn't time to make one." I explained."If I let her out now, he'll just go for Stefan or Caroline again. He has no desire to kill Katherine."
"So what did you step in for if you aren't gonna help?" Elena asked, I scoffed. I knew despite the momentary distraction Klaus was definitely listening to us.
"My sister is dead." I said firmly, I hoped Elena would read between the lines and keep up."I have nothing else."
"That's not true and you know it isn't." Elena hissed.
"Guys." Jenna said but neither of us heard her.
"Do not tell me what is true and isn't true about my life." I hissed back.
"Guys!" Jenna yelled, Elena & I stopped talking and turned to her."Stefan wants to take my place."
I turned and stared up at the top of the quarry, Stefan was always the hero but I could sense there was a reason Klaus went through the trouble of making a vampire instead of taking Stefan or Damon.
"It's not gonna happen." I replied shaking my head.
"I have to do something, this can't happen, none of it." Elena said, shaking her head in disbelief. I was curious what an acceptable sacrifice was to her because she didn't really bat an eye to Jules dying, not that I blamed her for that.
Stefan & Damon appeared in front of us, Klaus gave me a look so I took a step away from Elena.
"Quite the predicament. You know it's funny, all this talk about preserving family and here's Stefan granting your wish." Klaus said, Elena looked like she was going to cry while Jenna looked on she wanted to comfort her niece but she simply couldn't.
"Stefan."
"It's okay." Stefan reassured his girlfriend, I found it comical I knew just as much about Klaus as these people did and they seemed to really think he was anything like Elijah.
"Well? Who's it gonna be, Elena?" Klaus asked.
"No."
I counted down from 5 in my head, before I even managed to get to 2 Klaus stabbed Stefan in the back."There's actually no choice."
"I don't know why you fell for that." I huffed sitting down on a tree stump.
"No! Stefan! No!" Elena yelled out, Stefan slumped down to the ground in pain. He tried to pull the stake out his back but couldn't quite reach it.
"I have other plans for your boyfriend, I want him alive." Klaus said turning away from Stefan to me."But for now."
With a heavy sigh, I dropped the ring around Jenna. She looked at me a nodded and it made me feel better she didn't blame me.
"Your turn." Klaus said, Jenna stepped out the circle she held her head up high.
"No! Jenna No!" Elena shouted in tears, Jenna gave her a small smile. There was nothing anybody could do here but follow through with the plan.
Klaus staked her right through the heart, Jenna's skin slowly paled as she let out a loud gasp. Klaus showed her a bit more respect and laid her body on the ground it's almost as if he knew Jenna didn't deserve it.
"It's time." Klaus says, I drop the final circle and Klaus takes Elena in his arms. While he's not paying me any attention I use my magic to pull the stake from Stefan's back. He lets out a pained groan but otherwise stays quiet. "Thank you,Elena."
"Go to hell." She spat,Klaus pulled her in and started to drain the blood from her body. It was interesting watching life slowly drain from her body.
"She's gonna be okay right?" I whisper to Stefan, he stiffly nods at me. Elena takes her last breath and drops to her knees before the rest of her slowly hits the ground. My chest feels tight as I stare into her dead brown eyes.
"I can feel it. It's happening!" Klaus yells, his eyes flash the same ember color as Tyler's and I feel scared, there is a reason nature did not want him to unlock his wolf side. His magical energy got an immediate boost, where before he was only slightly above Elijah, I felt like the energy he gave off doubled.
Bonnie arrives before Klaus could truly bask in his moment and tosses him to the ground.
"You were dead." Klaus yelled in disbelief, he rushed toward me but I stopped him."You lying bi-"
"I wouldn't finish that sentence in front of Bonnie, she's rather protective of her little sister." I taunted, I went over to Bonnie taking her free hand into mine the two of us pooled our power together.
Together Bonnie & I put Klaus into an unimaginable amount of pain. I'd never saw a grown man scream as loud and as pained as he did until today.
I noticed Damon swoop in and take Elena's body away while Stefan stayed behind. He kept a close eye on Bonnie & me.
Elijah comes to a stop behind Bonnie & me so we stop hurting Klaus, the Hybrid can't believe his eyes at the sight of his brother standing with two witches who were hellbent on killing him.
"Elijah?"
"Hello, brother." Elijah smirked, he forced Klaus up to his feet and shoved his hand into his chest. Klaus' body contorted into an unnatural angle as he did it, he screamed out in pain as Elijah wrapped his hand around his heart. "In the name of our family, Niklaus."
"I didn't bury them at sea!" Klaus cried out almost immediately, I noticed Elijah falter for a moment." Their bodies are safe. If you kill me you'll never find them."
"We've been buffed. I think we can break whatever spell he has on them." I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
"Elijah don't listen to him." Stefan yelled, he could see with each passing moment that Elijah's reserve was slipping.
"I can take you to them, I give you my word." Klaus pleaded, it was wild to see the big bad hybrid behaving like a bitch when he was on deaths door.
"Do it or we'll kill you both." Bonnie hissed slowly raising her hand up, I hesitated. I didn't believe Elijah could really do it, and the four of us would probably die in the process and that was literally the best scenario but I had to side with Bonnie.
"You'll die." Elijah replied. He looked at me sadly, I knew how much family meant to him and unfortunately Klaus was his family.
"We don't care." Bonnie spat, I joined her holding my arm up ready to try and take them out but before we could even do anything they disappeared.
Today was a disappointment, we'd let people die in the pursuit of killing Klaus and that fell apart. We had two powerful Original vampires in town and there wasn't a damn thing we could do about it. Stefan & Bonnie went back to the boarding house to deal with the fall out of everything, I had a first hand account of what happened and I didn't need a recap I went to Tyler's to find them as I promised I was going to do earlier.
"Alicia?" Caroline said, she'd held the door open my eyes were bloodshot from crying. I don't even know how I actually made it here in one piece."What happened?"
"Jenna's gone. Damon's got a werewolf bite and that's all I know right now." I replied, I'd been trying to work up the strength to call Damon and ask about Elena but I was afraid. What if she didn't wake up and I had to live with the fact I'd let her die for nothing? How do I face myself after what transpired tonight?
"What do you mean Jenna's gone?" Caroline asked,I choked out a sob and couldn't even respond, she pulled into a hug with one hand and used her free hand to pull out her phone.
She'd called Stefan who filled us in on everything that transpired afterwards. Bonnie had managed to save Elena's life but at the cost of John's life.
The guys decided that the best thing we could do for Elena was bury them both as soon as possible, and then we figure out exactly where to go from there.
Elena didn't actually want me at the funeral which I expected despite knowing that if I would've freed Jenna, if she knew it would cause my death she wouldn't have even ran. Jenna was selfless, if I could've turned back time and we kept her from going out while Damon saved Caroline.
I didn't get much sleep that night, I was pretty numb. Caroline and Stefan took care of everything before the morning even came.
And despite Elena's wishes, Caroline brought me along with them. It was hard, Elena & Jeremy were just as destroyed right now as they were last year. It seemed nobody in this town could ever gain any solace.
I hung back a bit, I knew I was the last person she wanted to see right now and I respected that. Damon hung back with me, the two of us watched in silence while Bonnie, Elena & Caroline broke down and cried together. Alaric was holding onto Jeremy while Stefan rubbed Elena's back.
"We're gonna save you." I mumbled lowly, my words were meant only for Damon to hear. I had no idea if anybody else knew of the current situation.
"I wouldn't count on it." Damon whispered back, he put his arm around my shoulder and the moment he did I broke down in tears.
I would do anything to make sure nothing happened to anybody else we cared about.
Anything.
