Year: 832

Vega who was walking with Keith after they dropped off Grisha at the hospital, leads him toward a headquarters of some sort.

Vega: "So you're taking me to your Headquarters to introduce me to your training?"

Keith: "That's correct, I want to see on how well you can handle the training we deal with."

Vega: "This should be interesting, I would like to get a handle on... what did you call your gear again?"

Keith: "Omni-Directional Maneuver Gear, or ODM Gear for short."

Vega: "Well thankfully I dressed up nicely so I can make a good first impression on your teammates."

Vega was now cleaned and dressed nicely with clothes Keith bought for him. Only thing he didn't change was that he had his hair tied up in a man bun.

Keith: "Well couldn't really bring you here to be recruited looking like a homeless person."

Vega: "Well you did find me outside the walls."

They both share a chuckle.

Keith: "Good point."

As they reach their location Keith walks up to the 11th Commander of the Scout Regiment. The 11th Commander appeared to be a middle-aged man with short black hair, a receding hairline and a pudgy face.

Keith: "Commander this is Vega Eidorian a friend of mines, I was wondering if we could put him through the tests that we usually put trainees in."

The man replied in a lazy tone as he walked away from the two.

Commander: "Eh I don't see why not, I don't really care. Get him a set of training uniform and take him out to the training grounds, I'll decide if I'm interested in watching or not."

Keith: "Tch see that Vega? That's the so called leader of our cause. Makes me wanna puke just at how much he bearly cares about this."

Vega: "I see what you mean, but let's not dwell about this. Show me this training course you put your people through."

Keith: "Of course follow me."

Keith takes Vega to a courtyard where the other scouts are who are doing their daily training rounds but stops as they saw the two people walk into the area. A female scout decided to speak up.

F Scout: "Hey Keith, finally decided to show up eh? Well who's the guy next to ya?"

Keith places a hand on Vega's shoulder as he introduces him to his allies.

Keith: "This is Vega Eidorian a new friend of mines, he seemed interested in the scouts so I wanted to test him out here, see where he stands."

F Scout: "Hmm it's not the usual protocol... but why not."

The woman walks up to us and introduces herself.

F Scout: "Well then Vega right? My name is Ilse Langnar a proud member of the Scouts, hopefully you'll be able to show us what you can do."

Vega takes a better look at Ilse as she had short black hair, lightly tanned skin, and light-colored eyes with a small patch of freckles.

Vega: "I'll do my best not to disappoint. So where's this contraption Keith was telling me about, the one to test my balance or something?"

Keith: "Over here Vega."

Vega, Ilse and a few other scouts who were interesting in seeing the test walked towards Keith who was standing next to the ODM training mechanism. The commander, not having anything else to do, decided to watch this training session.

Keith: "This right here is where we'll test if you're able to keep yourself upright and balanced in mid air. We'll have you strapped on and lifted into the air, but first you'll need to be in uniform."

Keith holds out some folded clothes that resembles his uniform but the only difference is the insignia that has two swords crossing each other instead of the Scout insignia.

Vega: "Alright I'll change real quick and we'll get started."

He took the clothes offered to him and quickly walked into a room where he undressed and put on the uniform, making sure to put the straps on correctly. And once he was done he looked at himself in the mirror and thought it didn't look half bad on him. He exited the room and walked back towards Keith.

Vega: "So what do you think?"

Keith: "Those clothes suit you perfectly, now why don't we get started. Strap him up!"

A scout strapped Vega to the training mechanism and made sure the belt was secure.

Keith: "Now lift him up slowly."

The scout nods and proceeds to slowly wind up the crank lifting Vega into the air slowly. At first Vega wobbled a bit not being used to be suspended in the air like this but thanks to his Assassin training he was able to stay still with no difficulty.

Vega: "So how's this?"

Most people were lost for words as the newcomer made this look easy.

Keith: "You pass no argument there. Would you like to try out the ODM gear?"

Ilse: "Are you sure it isn't to early to do that?!"

Keith: "Normally yes, but I have no doubts that my friend here can manage it. What do you say commander?"

Commander: "I have no objections, let's see if Mr.Eidorian here can handle it. Any objections Mr.Eidorian?"

Vega: "None here, I'll do it."

Keith: "Excellent, now once you're down come to the forest and we'll have the training course set up."

Vega nods as he is put down from the training mechanism and Keith as well as a few others head to the training course. Before Vega makes his way to the training course he spots Ilse writing something in a journal.

Vega: "Watcha writing in there?"

Ilse: "Oh I'm just writing about you."

Vega: "..."

Ilse: "Not in a creepy way! Just your stats and all, I do it with everyone here."

Vega: "I see, I'm guessing your gonna keep taking notes about me in the training course right?"

Ilse hums in confirmation.

Vega: "Then we better not keep your commander and Keith waiting."

They both head towards the training course where Keith has a spare ODM gear that's ready to be used.

Keith: "Here take this and put it on, then we can begin your training."

Vega nods and takes the gear into his hand and starts to secure it on himself while at the same time Keith was giving Vega detailed instructions on how to operate the ODM gear, which the Assassin made sure to keep note of. After the explanation Vega stepped into the forest where the Titan dummies are located at.

Keith: "When you hear a shot go off then you can begin. Take as much time you need to get adjusted to the gear."

Vega gets himself ready holding onto the hilts of the gear and his fingers on the trigger as he remembers which ones shoots the anchors. Keith holds a rifle in his hand and he points at the sky with his finger in the trigger while Vega squats down a bit waiting for the signal.

Bang

The signal was shot and Vega leaped high into the air surprising the scouts as Vega shot the wires into the trees and started to use the gas to propel himself forward. Before he decided to go after the dummies he first started to get himself used to using the ODM gear by swinging around the trees. This feeling was something new to him, it's definitely different than the Leap of Faith the Assassins perform when they just jump from a high point but this is almost like flying. A feeling of freedom.

When Vega was above the trees he closed his eyes, outstretched his arms and performed a Leap of Faith. When mid fall he shoots his anchors again to prevent him from hitting the ground and finally connected the blades in the sheaths to the hilt and approached one of the Titan dummies and swung both blades onto the fake nape making a perfect cut. Vega then used his Eagle Vision to locate all of the training dummies in the area and once he memorized their location he turns it off and smirks.

Vega: 'Time to give them a show.'

Turning his body to the direction he wants to go he shoots the anchors onto the trees and starts propelling himself towards the other dummies and slashes their napes clean off and headed off to the others.

Keith who was watching the whole thing go down was in awe seeing how someone he just found outside the walls just a day ago showing the potential that the scouts needed.

Ilse who was also was in awe is taking notes about the unique ways Vega traveled along the trees and slashed the napes. She also took note on how he instantly knew where the dummies were and took them out all in quick session.

The commander was surprised to see such raw talent being displayed, which somewhat gave the commander hope that they've found someone to help them against the Titans.

Once Vega cut down the last dummy with a spin cut he goes back to the starting point where Keith was and landed there with ease.

Vega: "So, how was that?"

Keith: "T-That was incredible! You passed that like it was nothing!"

Ilse: "He's right who'd knew you were this good! How were you able to do all that in such a short time?!"

She spoke with excitement as she was still writing in her journal about the Training.

The commander stayed silent, being lost for words that he found someone who could be called Humanities Strongest, but they'll have to wait until their next expedition to see results.

Trying to play it off Vega tried to think of an excuse that wouldn't make him look suspicious.

Vega: "I-I'm not sure... my body just did whatever felt right and I trusted my instincts."

Vega: 'Hope they buy that or else I'll blow my cover.'

Before they could question it a random scout spoke up.

M Scout: "With skills like this you could make it in with the MPs!"

Vega: "The MPs? Who are they?"

Keith: "Oh yeah I almost forgot about them, they're called the Military Police and they basically are the ones who personally guard the monarch. They "maintain order", but they also serve as the king's guard."

He said the part about them maintaining order quite sarcastically which told Vega something differently.

Vega: 'So that's the three main Military units of these walls, The Scout Regiment, they're involved in direct Titan combat, Titan study, human expansion, and outside exploration. The Garrison Regiment, they take care of all defences for the Walls. And The Military Police, they "Maintain order" as Keith described. Garrison is a no go for me, the Military Police would get me close to the "King", but it's also a greater chance for them to figure me out, and with the help of the Scouts I can look for the artifacts, which is one of the main reasons I'm here."

Keith was worried that Vega would want to live in the comforts of the interior, but remember that Vega stated that he doesn't like the confines of being trapped in the walls. Ilse was hoping that he would stay since she is interested in learning more about him. The commander especially wanted Vega to stay since he could use someone like him to fight against the Titans.

Vega: "Ive thought about it and decided that I'll join the Scouts. It's something I think i'm more interested into anyways."

The brown haired man seems relieved in hearing his response, and the other scouts also seem to be psyched that they have someone else here who shows promise to the Scouts. Keith walks towards Vega with something in hand and when he held it out to him it shows that it's another jacket that has the Scout insignia on it which Vega gladly took and instantly removed the training jacket and equipped the new one. He also grabbed the green cloak that had the Scout insignia on the back and put it on. The final touch was Vega grabbing the hood of the cloak and putting it on which was a normal thing for him to do.

Commander: "Well then Vega Eidorian welcome to the Scouts hope you'll survive longer than mosts here."

With a smirk Vega replied while shaking the commanders hand.

Vega: "I'll do my best not to let you down, Commander."

When Vega left the Scout Headquarters he headed straight back towards Shiganshina's hotel to see if Grisha is still there to give him the good news. He went up to the door where Grisha's room is and knocked on it.

Vega: "Hello Grisha it's me, are you here?"

Grisha: "Yes, give me a moment."

A couple of seconds later Grisha opens the door and lets Vega in.

Vega: "So how did your interview at the hospital go?"

Grisha: "I got the job with no problems. They said they were impressed with my medical skills. And it seems like I'm not the only one who got a job as well."

Vega: "That's correct my friend, you are now looking at the newest member of the Scout Regiment. I've infiltrated their military so it'll help with my mission."

Grisha: "That reminds me, what is this mission you were sent to do here. I don't believe you ever fully explained."

Vega walked to a table and sat down on a chair as well as Grisha did. Before Vega said anything he activated his Eagle Vision and looked around the area to make sure no none could hear their conversation, and when it was clear he turned it off and cleared his throat.

Vega: "I was sent here to recover some ancient artifacts that were placed somewhere on this island. You remember the Warrior Program Marley was starting."

Grisha looked down in shame but nodded.

Vega: "If they send their Titan Shifters here it wouldn't only be for the Founding Titan, but also to find these artifacts I'm looking for."

Grisha: "What are these artifacts you speak of?"

Vega: "That I'm not sure of, they're either an Apple of Eden, Sword of Eden, or some other variant of a Piece of Eden. But if Marley gets their hands on whatever artifacts are here as well as the Founding Titan, then every Aridam and Eldian will be in great danger, as well as all the nations in the world."

Grisha: "Have you ever used one of these Pieces of Eden before?"

Vega: "Yes I have used them in the past on missions, a recent mission I used one to rescue some prisoners Marley kept in a base. After rescuing them I was about to leave as well, but some Marleyan soldiers tried to stop me, so I used the artifact and eliminated them."

Grisha: "Finding the location on where the current King is will be difficult that's for sure."

Vega: "I'll assist you with taking the Founding Titan. Give it some time and we should be able to locate the Founder somewhere, but the artifacts I'll need to do it solo, can't risk having you outside the walls and getting you devoured."

Grisha: "With what primitive technology they use here it'll take a while. You said you can improve their technology?"

Vega: "Yes that is correct, I can definitely aid the scouts to cover more ground once I make the schematics for new weapons. Improvements upon the ODM gears will drastically improve the morality ratings in the Scouts. But I'll need to understand the ODM gear more for that to happen. I'll probably start with small guns and work myself up into their ranks."

Vega pulls out a Mauser Gun that he kept hidden and spins it on his finger. Grisha decided to ask Vega about something that's been bothering him for a while.

Grisha: "How long have you been an Assassin?"

The Assassin looks at his wrists and pulls down his sleeves to show his wrist blades and stares at them.

Vega: "Ever since I was only 16 years old I was introduced to the Assassins by my father. And during that same year I became a Recruit and worked myself up for 17 years into what I am now, a Master Assassin."

Grisha: "Is this why you were gone for so many months back then? I believed you were part of the Eldian Military force that worked for Marley."

Vega: "That I was, but only undercover for the Assassins."

Grisha: "Did Dina know...?"

A soft sigh comes out from Vega's mouth as he remembers the conversation between them.

Vega: "Yes she knew, It was hard for her to accept, but when I brought up she became a Restorationist behind my back she eventually accepted it."

Grisha: "Why didn't you tell me? Did you not trust me?"

Vega looks at his friend with a soft expression.

Vega: "It's not like I didn't trust you. It was something I wanted to hold off on until the time was right. But I guess it had to come out eventually. And now here we are, working together on this island in order to save our people."

Grisha: "Funny how fate brought us together, isn't it?"

They chuckle a bit.

Vega: "Though I don't believe in fate, I have to agree that it was something that we were brought here on this island to work together."

Looking out through the window, Vega saw how it had already gotten dark.

Vega: "I believe it's getting late, so I'll head back to my room and rest up now, big day of training tomorrow and I believe you have a full day of work ahead."

Vega got up from the chair and walked to the door opening it slightly.

Grisha: "Goodnight Vega."

Vega: "Night Grisha."

He walks through the door and closes it behind him and he enters his own room, removes his uniform and unties his man bun letting his hair loose.

Vega then brings out his Journal that he took with him and updated it with the recent events that have unfolded ever since he reached Paradis Island.

Once he finishes writing he puts the journal on his desk and removes his wrist blades and places them next to the journal as he finally lays down on the bed and falls asleep. What awaits him and his friend in the future is uncertain, but it won't stop either of them from completing their mission.
