Emily had to spend two weeks off duty and another two to four weeks out of the field because of her ribs. She and JJ were sad about it, preferring to spend every moment they could together. Everyone had the next day off after returning from the case and JJ took one additional day to spend with Emily. She wished she could take more time off to help Emily through the healing process, but she'd already missed too many days lately and needed to save some time for when she was closer to her due date.

She didn't want to leave Emily's side until she absolutely had to. She took Emily home as soon as they landed, helped her change into an oversized FBI t-shirt, and made her get in bed with a glass of water and her pain medication. "Are you hungry? I can make you something or order in. Whatever you want." JJ tucked Emily's comforter in tighter around her as she spoke.

"I'm fine, JJ." Emily shoved at the comforter that had her practically mummified, loosening up some space for herself. "Not cold. Or hungry. Just get in bed with me."

JJ blushed. "Can I borrow a t-shirt?"

"Sure. Or you can wear nothing. That's cool too," Emily grinned.

JJ rolled her eyes, trying to pretend she wasn't turned on. "Em, you're a mess."

Emily laughed, wincing a little at the pain in her side. "It's the pain meds talking."

"You took them five seconds ago. But that's not what I meant. You're clearly in pain. You need rest." JJ grabbed a t-shirt from Emily's dresser drawer and hesitated for only a moment before changing in front of her.

Emily didn't bother pretending she wasn't watching her. "Come snuggle with me, at least."

JJ climbed into bed, propped herself up on some pillows, and got as close as she could to Emily without hurting her. She played with Emily's hair until her breathing deepened, signaling she was asleep, before allowing herself to drift off as well.

JJ was spreading strawberry cream cheese over toasted blueberry bagels when Emily came into the kitchen, walked up behind her, moved her blonde hair to one side, and kissed her neck. JJ sighed happily. "What are you doing out of bed?"

"I can walk, JJ. It's not that bad. How are you feeling?"

JJ turned to face Emily. "Not like eating protein. So bagels it is. Do you want anything else?"

"For breakfast?" Emily asked. She tilted JJ's chin up and gave her a soft kiss on the lips. "Or from you?"

JJ didn't know what switch had flipped in Emily to make her so bold, but she was liking it a lot. Too bad it coincided with an injury that made it really difficult for them to enjoy each other's bodies in the ways they wanted to. "Both."

Emily's dark eyes turned almost black with desire. "I wish I could lift you onto this counter."

JJ quickly moved the bagels and cream cheese out of the way and lifted herself onto the counter. She wrapped her legs around Emily and pulled her closer.

Emily slid her hands up JJ's bare thighs and under the sides of her boy-short underwear. "I'm so glad you aren't wearing pants."

"Me too," JJ whispered, resting her hands on Emily's shoulders to brace herself.

Emily took another step forward and pulled JJ to the very edge of the counter in one motion, causing JJ's pelvis to make contact with Emily's stomach. JJ gasped and tightened her legs around Emily's core. Whether from hormones or the tension between her and Emily, or a mixture of both, JJ had been extra sensitive lately. This simple contact was almost enough to send her over the edge, especially with Emily's thumbs sliding over her bare skin, closer to her center. She rocked against Emily, desperate for more.

Emily tried to hide it, but JJ felt her wince. She grabbed Emily's wrists and loosened the hold her thighs had on the older woman. She pulled Emily's hands out of her underwear and rested them on her thighs. "I hurt you," she said softly. "I'm supposed to be taking care of you."

"This definitely falls into the category of taking care of me," Emily joked.

"Emily," JJ warned.

"I'm sorry," Emily said quickly. "It isn't your fault, baby. I thought I could push past the pain. I really wanted to."

JJ bit her bottom lip, causing Emily to re-think stopping. It was just a little pain. JJ leaned forward and gave her a sweet kiss.

"Eat a bagel," JJ commanded. "Then we are going to lie down, ice your ribs, and rest until tonight when Garcia gets here."

"Yes, ma'am." Emily gave her a little salute, grabbed one of the bagels, and sat at the bar to eat.

JJ stayed sitting on the counter while she ate hers, trying to avoid the eye contact she knew would make it really hard to be good. When Emily finished her breakfast, JJ gave her pain meds and ordered her to the couch. She entered a few minutes later with a bag of frozen vegetables wrapped in a towel.

"Viens ici, mon trésor," Emily said with a broad smile.

"If you keep speaking French to me, I might forget you're in pain again," JJ said, joining her on the couch.

"Maybe that's what I'm going for," Emily laughed.

"Lean forward so I can take off your shirt," JJ commanded. She removed Emily's t-shirt, wishing she was doing so under different circumstances. She grimaced at seeing the purple bruising there and gently placed the makeshift ice pack over the area. She distracted herself from witnessing Emily's injury by focusing on the breasts swelling under a gray sports bra. She slipped her finger between the band of the bra and Emily's soft, milky skin. "This is tight. It isn't making the pain worse?"

"It might be," Emily murmured, sounding sleepy. "You can take it off me."

JJ laughed. "I can help you change into something else if you want. A looser shirt with the ice underneath? Or a bikini top, maybe?"

Emily shook her head. "Nah. I'm tired."

JJ imagined she was extremely drowsy, with the dosage of pain medication she was taking. "Go to sleep for a bit. I'll wake you for lunch."

Emily was asleep within minutes, leaned back against the arm of the couch with one leg straight out in front of her and the other hanging off the couch, foot still on the floor. JJ felt a little tired too. Being pregnant while taking care of Emily (not to mention, her insatiable sex drive) was exhausting. She nestled in between Emily's legs, resting her head on Emily's lower abdomen on the side opposite the bruises. She paused before closing her eyes, to make sure she didn't hurt Emily, but there wasn't a stir from the older agent.

JJ woke some time later to a clatter that made her jump. Heart racing, she tried to sit up without disturbing Emily, but a hand rubbing her back stilled her, and she realized Emily was already awake.

"Sorry, sorry!" Garcia's voice came from the chair beside the couch. "Sergio and I were playing fetch and he got a little overzealous."

"Garcia?" JJ rubbed her eyes and looked around. Garcia had a pile of toy mice on her lap and stray mice were scattered about the living room. Emily was still on the couch beneath her, but had shifted higher and moved her other leg to the couch, so that JJ was cradled between her legs. The TV was on, playing Project Runway at a low volume with the captions on. The t-shirt JJ wore had ridden up her bare thigh, exposing her striped boy-shorts. She tugged the shirt down to cover her underwear. "When did you get here?"

"'Bout half an hour ago. I brought dinner! You hungry?"

"Dinner? How long have I been asleep?" JJ glanced at the window, trying to determine the time.

"Like six hours," Emily replied. "You needed the rest."

JJ propped herself up with her arm resting on Emily's thigh and met her eyes. "When did you wake up?"

"Couple hours ago."

"And you just laid here with me? You should've woken me up to move." JJ felt strangely vulnerable knowing she'd slept on top of Emily for hours. It couldn't have been comfortable for Emily to be stuck on the couch with limited space to move.

"Like I said, you needed it." Emily ran her fingers through JJ's blonde hair and gave her a warm smile. "Besides, it felt really nice."

JJ's face heated up, but she broke into a smile of her own. "You're very comfortable."

Garcia cleared her throat, looking considerably less comfortable. "I'm gonna go reheat the food." She hurried away to the kitchen.

JJ had forgotten she was even in the room and she realized how odd it must have looked, coming in to see them in that position in their various states of undress. "So, I guess she already knows?" JJ asked Emily in a low voice. She sat the rest of the way up and moved away enough for Emily to adjust to a more comfortable position. JJ stuffed another throw pillow behind Emily's back and pulled the older agent's legs across her own lap.

"We haven't talked about it. I wouldn't say anything without you. She obviously has a pretty good idea, though."

JJ noticed goosebumps on Emily's thighs and she grabbed a throw blanket off the back of the couch to spread out over them. "Makes sense. She actually already kinda knew about me."

"What about you?" Emily asked. She took JJ's free hand and rested it on her bare stomach, tracing the lines on JJ's palm with the tip of her finger.

"That I… wanted you?"

"Is that a question?" Emily smirked.

"No. It's not. I definitely wanted you and I definitely told her. I may have been a little tipsy at the time."

Emily's breath hitched at the admission. "How long ago did you tell her that?"

JJ looked down at her hands, a little nervous about how Emily would react. "A while ago. Before I even met Will."

"She knew about me too. The way I feel about you. She called me out for being, and I quote, a smitten kitten." Emily did air quotes when she repeated Garcia's term for her in Vegas.

Garcia walked back into the living room with a stack of takeout containers. "Yes, yes, I knew both of you had the hots for each other and were gonna fall in love like a brunette and a blonde with an unbreakable bond." She set the food on the coffee table. "But I still want to hear how it all happened. Every detail."

JJ and Emily laughed and began to tell her their respective sides of the story while Garcia opened containers of several different types of fried rice and handed out chopsticks. JJ took a container and went in for a bite, but when the smell hit her, a wave of nausea came over her. She stared at the food for a minute, hoping it would pass. When it didn't, she shoved the container into Emily's hands and tapped her legs several times quickly until she got the hint and removed them from JJ's lap. JJ gave Garcia an apologetic glance and ran out of the room.

"What's wrong?" Garcia asked Emily.

"She's still having a hard time with smells and keeping food down. She's at the end of the first trimester, though, so we hope it'll start getting better."

Garcia hit her palm to her forehead. "Not gonna lie, with everything that's been going on lately, I completely forgot she's pregnant."

Emily laughed. "Don't tell her that."

"How's that going? Trying to figure out your relationship while she is pregnant with someone else's baby?" Garcia felt bad for asking such a loaded question, so she tried to lighten it up. "It is someone else's, right?"

"We haven't even had a chance to–" Emily stopped mid-sentence, realizing what she was saying and how irrelevant it was.

"To consummate the relationship?" Garcia joked. "That's a bummer."

"Tell me about it. I just had to go and get shot the same day we got super real about our feelings for each other. And she's so–"

"I'm so what?" JJ asked, coming into the living room and collapsing on the couch.

"Drop-dead gorgeous," Garcia said.

"Absolutely stunning," Emily said.

"Well you two certainly know how to make a swollen, achy, pukey pregnant girl feel a little better about herself." JJ eyed the still-open food containers on the table warily.

"I'll get rid of these. Can I order you something else to eat?" Garcia asked, feeling bad for JJ.

"No, it's okay." JJ shook her head. "I can't think of anything that won't make me sick right now."

"You need to eat something, baby. I'll make you toast," Emily said. She patted JJ's leg and carefully stood up from the couch.

"No, Em, sit back down," JJ commanded.

"I can make the toast," Garcia said, coming back after putting the leftovers in the fridge for Emily.

"You guys, it's toast. I can walk to the kitchen and pop some bread in the toaster. I can even spread some butter. I need to stretch my legs anyway."

"Fine," JJ said. "But no butter."

When Emily was gone, Garcia set her sights on JJ. "How are you feeling about the baby?"

"Surprisingly good," JJ answered with honesty. "Despite feeling physically awful so much of the time, I am starting to get excited at the prospect of being a mom."

"You're going to be incredible," Garcia said with a big smile.

"Thanks, Pen. It's a little bit nerve-wracking. We have our next appointment in two weeks."

"We as in you and Will or we as in you and Emily?"

"Emily," JJ answered quickly, without thinking. "At least I hope she will come with me again. Will isn't moving here until October. Actually, Garcia, I wanted to ask you something about the baby."

"Ask away, but don't expect a knowledgeable answer unless you're giving birth to a digital baby."

"Like…a tamagotchi?" JJ asked, laughing.

"I wish I still had one of those," Garcia said, wistfulness in her eyes. "What's your question?"

"I already asked Reid and he said yes, but I want you to be included just as much as him. I want you to be my baby's godmother."

"Oh, JJ." Garcia's eyes shone with tears. "I would be honored. Thank you so much for choosing me. I won't let you down. Your kid is going to be the most spoiled godchild ever."

JJ laughed again. "I don't doubt that."

Garcia got up and wrapped JJ in a hug, kissing the top of her head several times. She sat on the couch next to JJ. "But what about Emily?"

"What do you mean, what about Emily?"

"Well." Garcia chewed on the inside of her cheek. "You're the mother and Will is moving here to be the father. So if Reid and I are the godparents, where does that leave Emily?"

"To be honest, I hope it leaves my baby with two moms." JJ was tired of dancing around what she wanted. It was harder to be this blunt about it with Emily, but Garcia was different. She would understand without the possibility of being scared away.

"Your toast, my love." Emily was suddenly in front of the couch, bowing to offer JJ a plate with four slices of toasted bread.

"How much of that did you hear?" JJ asked, turning red.

Emily sat down on JJ's other side and kissed her cheek, then put a hand on her bare thigh, rubbing gently. "Enough to tell you that I am not going anywhere."

JJ stared down at her toast so Emily wouldn't see the raw emotion filling her eyes. She noticed each slice was different. One was covered in peanut butter, one in strawberry cream cheese, one in orange marmalade, and one plain. "Thank you," she whispered.

"I wanted to give you multiple options, in case," Emily explained.

"I didn't just mean for the toast."

"I know. You guys want to watch a movie?" Emily had taken more pain meds and knew she would fall asleep ten minutes into any movie, but she wanted the opportunity to snuggle with JJ in the dark.

Garcia found them something to watch, Emily got up and turned out the lights, and JJ grabbed a second blanket. She gave one to Garcia and draped the other over herself and Emily. They propped their feet up on the coffee table, legs intertwined. Not wanting to leave her out of the cuddles, JJ leaned into Garcia, shoulder to shoulder while she ate her toast. It would be uncomfortable for Emily if she leaned on her shoulder anyway, but Emily's hand drawing patterns on her upper thighs under the blanket was all she could focus on until Emily fell asleep.
