Crash Into Me Chapter 30
Six Months Later
"Why are you staring at me?" Brea stretched in the bed as Jax eyes followed her movements. Jax hands began to rub on her huge eight-month baby bump.
"Do you realize how exquisite you are?"
Brea felt like a whale and did not see what Jax saw when she looked in the mirror. She had made a point to eat extra healthy and walk as much as she could the past few months. She was carrying a few extra pounds when she found out she was pregnant and was terrified of gaining even more weight. She knew she was being superficial but she was so afraid if she gain a lot of weight Jax would leave her. She knew she was mentally torturing herself as Jax always told her everyday how much he loved her and how beautiful she was.
"If you say so." Brea rolled her eyes as she tried to lift herself out of bed. She was so ready for this child to come out. Jax frowned as he watched her get out of bed to start her day.
"Why do you do that Brea?" he asked sitting up in bed.
"Do what?" Brea searched in one of the drawers for one of her trusty and comfortable granny panties.
"Deflect any compliment I give you." Jax crawled out of bed, walked up to Brea and rubbed her belly. Brea frowned at Jax.
"I don't deflect your comments."
"Yes you do…..you do it so often I don't think you even realize you do it."
Brea shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't mean too." She told him as she pulled out a pair of underwear. Honestly, she had a hard time receiving compliments from anyone. She really needed to make a conscious effort to work on that.
"Try to think about how it makes me feel every time I tell you how beautiful and breathtaking you are to me and you shrug it off like it means nothing to you."
Brea looked at Jax and saw a hint of hurt reflect in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Jax. It means the world to me when you tell me how you feel about me. It's just hard sometimes to accept a compliment especially if I don't feel about myself the way the person sees me." Brea looked away from his gaze and Jax instantly grabbed her chin to meet his gaze again.
"How could you not see how gorgeous you are? The moment I saw you when I crashed into your yard you took my breath away. When you and Mya cleaned up my scrape knee, I was in total awe of you. Now here you stand before me carrying my child looking even more beautiful than ever. You must know how much you have blessed my life." Jax rubbed Brea's belly again and smiled when he felt his son move beneath his touch. Brea leaned over and softly kissed Jax's lips.
"Thank you Jax."
"For what?" he asked as he caressed her cheek.
"For making me the happiest woman alive….you are my prince in shining armor."
"Babe, you know I'm all about the fairytale." Jax grinned as he pulled Brea in an embrace.
Happy lifted Mya up and put her on his Harley.
"When you get older I'm going to teach you how to ride a Harley." He told her pulling on one of her pigtails in her hair.
"Can I ride with you now?" Mya asked smiling up at the man whom she loved dearly.
"Not yet…..let's wait until you get a little older." Happy told her planting a kiss on her forehead.
Jessica and Brea smiled at Happy and his little princess from across the parking lot. Jessica was visiting Charming more often since her and Happy started to become serious. She was now considered his old lady. Brea could not be more ecstatic for her. It took a few weeks for Brea to get over the sting of Jessica telling Jax and Gemma about her pregnancy however, she knew Jessica was in the right for telling them. Brea was just not together emotionally and she might have gone through with an abortion. Jax finding out she was pregnant had put her mind at ease of his feelings for her. So really she had Jessica to thank for part of the true happiness she felt. Jax pulled into the garage parking lot and parked his bike. Brea was waiting for him to tell him about her doctor's visit today. He wanted to come but he had pressing club business so Jessica and Mya accompanied her. Jax was grinning as he walked up to Brea.
"Hey Jess!" he acknowledged as he planted a quick peck on Brea's lips. "Any new smiley face tattoos?" Jax knew Happy liked to have Jessica accompany him on his "assignments" and from what Happy told him Jessica was pretty much a natural. Jax didn't think Jessica had it in her but to be Happy's old lady she most definitely did.
"Just a couple more." Jessica smiled before joining Happy and Mya to give Brea and Jax a moment alone. Jax looked at his pregnant woman and for a second wish he could have full disclosure with her about his club business. He just had a feeling she could not handle it if she knew everything and they would never be on the level of Jessica and Happy's relationship. As he gazed at Brea he was fine with the way things were. He loved her with all his heart and even though his mom told him it would never work unless he kept a woman completely in the dark or told her everything the small snippets Brea did know did not upset their relationship except for a few arguments….but what couple didn't argue.
"How did it go today?" Jax asked as his hands instinctively rubbed Brea's belly.
"It went good. He is a healthy. They took another 3D ultrasound. He is so adorable." Brea dug in her purse and pulled out the images.
"Wow! Look at him!" Jax stared at the pictures as he thought of how in a couple of weeks he would be holding his second child. Brea looked at her man up and down as he stared at the ultrasound pictures and noticed he had little splatters of blood on his t-shirt. Brea grabbed his cut and opened it further to get a better look. There was even more blood on his shirt hidden by his cut.
"Jax what the hell happen? Is this your blood?" Brea's voice began to rise.
"No sweetheart it's not." He told her softly to calm her down.
"Well whose blood is it?"
"Babe…. its club business. I don't want you worrying about any of that. We discussed this already."
"You know I'm going to worry. I don't want anything to happen to you." Brea frowned a little at the thought as she put the ultrasound pictures back in her purse.
"Nothing is going to happen to me. You, Abel, Mya and little Christopher are my world and I'm not going anywhere."
Brea knew not to press the matter with Jax any further because last time she did they got into a very long and heated argument. Even after the argument he still kept her mostly in the dark.
He tried hard to keep his club business from her. He told her it was for her protection. Brea felt a little nagging feeling that he didn't trust her or that he felt she was not strong enough to handle any info he shared with her about the club. Changing the subject she pressed herself against him as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders.
"I don't know about the name Christopher. I told you I like Tristan." She smiled at him thinking of ways she could sway him to the name she liked.
"I'm not naming my son after a character from that long, dry ass movie you made me watch."
Brea chuckled as she thought back at how miserable Jax was watching Legends of the Fall.
"I better get going to start on dinner." She said breaking their embrace and waddling to her car with Jax close behind.
Brea leaned on her car door and called to Mya and Jessica that she was ready to leave.
"What time do you think you will be home later?" Brea asked Jax as she rubbed her fingers through his hair.
"As soon as possible." Jax smiled and planted a kiss on her lips.
"As soon as you get home throw your shirt in the washer so I can wash it." She said tugging on his t-shirt.
"Yes ma'am." Jax smiled widen as he leaned in again to kiss his woman when the sounds of screeching tires cause him to look up.
"Get down!" he yelled at Brea as he pushed her down behind her car just as the sound of bullets filled the air. Brea was able to break her fall with her hands and not land on her stomach. She crouched behind the car and looked franticly for Mya and Jessica. She saw Happy running with them into the office for shelter. Thank God! Jax squatted down by her and drew his gun.
"Do not move!" he shouted at her just before he jumped up to lay down some fire along with other members. Brea was in hysterics, as it seems the shooting would never cease. She could not see Jax and she dared not move from behind her car. Closing her eyes and covering her ears she prayed the shooting would stop. Her prayers were answered as she heard the car tear out of the parking lot. Brea sighed with relief and protectively rubbed her stomach as she felt Tristan move. Her relief was short lived when she heard Chibs scream.
"Jackie Boy! Jackie!" Chibs cried as he ran near Brea's car. Brea jumped up from behind the car as quickly as her tummy would allow and saw Jax leaning up against the front of her car holding his left shoulder as blood soaked his white t-shirt.
"Oh my God!" Brea screamed. "Jax!"She ran over to Jax, knelt down in front of him, put her hands on top of his and tried to suppress his bleeding. Brea's breath started to quicken as images of her sister flashed in her head. She could not lose Jax. If she lost him, she would ever recover. He was her foundation. He was her rock. She needed him. Mya needed him and her baby needed him.
"I'm alright…I'm alright." Jax gritted through his pain.
"No you are not alright!" How could he say that when he was right in front of her bleeding? "We need to get you to the hospital."
Jax shook his head no and looked up at Chibs. Chibs knew what to do.
"Can you make it to your house?" Chibs asked as he squatted down to Jax's level.
"What?! The house?!" Brea was truly perplexed. What the hell was going on? Did they not see he needed medical attention?
"You are going to have to get the bullet out Brea." Jax told her his face contorting in more pain. Brea shook her head no.
"I can't Jax. You need a doctor."
"You can do it." He assured her as Chibs helped him up off the ground. Jax's movement caused his bullet wound to bleed more profusely. Brea pressed her hands harder on his shoulder. Tears started to flow down her cheeks.
"Auntie?"
Brea turned her head to find Happy, Mya and Jessica. Tears sprung to Mya's eyes as Happy picked her up.
"Jax is hurt like mommy and daddy was." She started to cry.
"Jax is going to be alright." Brea echoed what Jax told her earlier.
"Juice get the van so we can put Jax in the back." Chibs instructed.
"Happy can you drive Jess and Mya home in my car. I will ride with Jax."
"Yeah sure." Happy put Mya down and walked up to his president.
"Are you going to be alright?" he asked concerned. Jax nodded his head yes. Happy assess Jax and could tell from experience that he would pull through. He looked over at a frantic Breanna still holding his shoulder as blood stained her hands and clothes.
"Breanna he's going to be fine. We just need to get the bullet out." Happy told her hoping she would calm down. Jax wound was not fatal and Happy knew this just by looking at him. He had been shot before and just recently in the shoulder protecting Mya and has shot multiples of people before so he knew a mortal wound when he saw one.
Juice pulled up the van as Brea hesitantly lifted her hands off of Jax's, grabbed her purse off the ground, dug her keys out and handed them to Happy.
"Better yet can you and Jessica occupy Mya for a couple of hours instead of going straight home? Maybe take her to the park or go see the new Disney movie?" Brea did not want Mya to see Jax again bloodied and in pain.
"That's a good idea." Jessica said as Happy opened the car door for her. Brea looked at Jessica and realized how calm she looked. It seemed being shot at did not faze her one bit.
"We will see you in a couple of hours." Happy told her. Brea nodded before Chibs helped her up in the van with him and Jax. She sat next to Jax making sure he had enough pressure on his shoulder.
"Will the cops come?" she asked as Chibs shut the van door.
Chibs shrugged his shoulders.
"They won't be any help if they did. Do you have supplies at the house to remove the bullet?"
"Oh God! No I don't. I will have to call my brother. He will get me what I will need."
"Can he be trusted?" Chibs asked suspicious.
"Yes he can be trusted." Brea grabbed her phone and called her brother. Without any hesitation, Justin agreed to help and he understood the importance of keeping the situation confidential.
He told Brea he would be at her house in twenty minutes, as he had to procure the supplies she needed. Brea hung up the phone and relayed what Justin told her to Jax and Chibs. Jax winced with pain as the van drove over a deep pothole.
"Drive steady Juice!" Chibs yelled up front to Juice. Brea scooted next to Jax who was beginning to look pale.
"Jax keep steady pressure on it. We will be home soon." Brea put her hands back over his to help with the pressure. "Jax who would do this? Why would someone come at the garage and shoot at everyone?"
Jax laid his head back on the van walls and closed his eyes. He knew exactly who it was and he knew it was retaliation.
"Not now babe." He whispered. Jax opened his eyes and looked at Brea "Are you ok? The baby?"
"Yes we are fine."
"I'm so sorry you were there and put in harm's way." Jax grimaced through his pain.
"Shhhhh. Don't talk." She told him planting a kiss on his forehead.
"She right Jackie…..don't exert yourself." Chibs agreed.
"Gemma's here." Juice said parking behind Gemma's car.
"Shit! I forgot she was watching Abel while I went to the doctors."
"Abel can't see me like his." Jax said.
"Juice run in and tell Gemma to put Abel in his room." Chibs barked as he opened the van doors to help Brea out and then Jax. On their way up to the front door, Gemma ran out with terror on her face.
"What happened?!" she shrieked when she saw her son. "Was this Mexican?"
"Mom!" Jax yelled and gave her a look to shut up. Gemma pressed her lips together as she followed behind them as they entered the house.
"Abel is in his room." Juice told them as they took Jax to the bedroom. Chibs and Brea gently laid Jax on the bed.
"Justin will be coming over to take the bullet out." Brea told Gemma breathing a little heavy.
"Are you and the baby ok?" Gemma asked as she sat on the bed beside Jax.
"Were fine." Brea looked down at her stomach and noticed her shirt and pants was stained with Jax's blood.
"How bad is it baby?" Gemma asked as she removed Jax's hand to take off his cut and shirt. Brea walked over to help her and noticed he was still bleeding but not as bad as earlier.
"You got anything for pain?" Chibs asked.
"There are some Percocet in the bathroom medicine cabinet." Jax had a vast array of painkillers he took whenever he would come home bruised and sometimes bloody from "club business". Gemma and Brea finally pulled off his cut and shirt and looked at the bullet hole in his shoulder.
"It's not that bad." Gemma commented as she looked closer at the hole. Brea sighed as she also looked at Jax's wound. She had seen worse. The blood he lost concerned her now and the pain he will feel when Justin pulls the bullet out.
"Jax you want some whisky with the pills?" Chibs asked holding a bottle of Percocet.
Jax nodded his head yes. Brea knew mixing the two together was not a good idea but due to the current circumstances she kept her mouth shut. Jax took the pills and the tall glass of whiskey Chibs brought back. Jax closed his eyes and sunk deeper into the bed. Brea hated seeing him hurt and in pain.
"Breanna go get cleaned up. I will watch him." Gemma told Brea as she heard motorcycles pull up no doubt the club coming to check on their president.
Brea was hesitant to leave Jax's side.
"He will be fine Breanna. Now go get cleaned up."
Brea grabbed some clean clothes and underwear and went into the bathroom to take a shower. Brea began to cry as the water cascaded down her washing off Jax's dried blood and the realization of what happened finally sunk in. She was bringing a child into the chaotic world of an outlaw's life. Mya had suffered due to her father being a criminal and her mother's constant poor choices because of her love for him. Was her unborn child destined for a life of suffering? Was her deep love for Jax making her blind and tolerable of his lifestyle? How could she as a soon to be mom and an aunt continue down such a dangerous path that was led by Jax and his club?
Brea started to tremble under the hot water as she began to fear she would ultimately end up like her sister. What kind of person was she knowing that she could face the same fate but could not see her life without the man lying in their bed bleeding from a gunshot wound. Brea sobs grew louder as she realized what kind of person she indeed was and shame and guilt washed over her.
