1990 the Soviet Union and the United State are locked in bitter conflict, with the former achieving initial success in the beginning weeks of the war in Europe along with the incursions into the United States. Despite this, the American Military has repelled the Soviet forces from Southern France and importantly America itself. Now battered as these endeavors costed a high price in both lives and recourses, they wait for an opportunity to break the stalemate that could come in any form, even as unbelievable as one could be.

5th of May 1990 USA, Washington DC.

"Take your seats Gentlemen," The President of the United States said to Joint Chiefs of Staff.

They all took their seats.

"So why have you called this meeting?"

"Mr. President the reason is that we have a situation in Washington that we need address," Chief of Staff of the Army responded.

"Please don't tell me the Chinese have landed in Seattle somehow," The President said bracing himself mentally for the worse.

"No sir, that's not what's happening in Washington," Responded Chief of Army. "It's... a bit more complicated I'm afraid."

"Thank Christ for that," The President said, quite relieved he didn't have to deal with another invasion. One was bad enough-wait complicated? "What do you mean complicated?"

"Well sir, we received reports of animal attacks a month ago in the Washington mountains. Not long after we kicked the Russians out," The Chief of Army stated as he opened the file that was on the table in front of him. "There were multiple attacks on civilians by one or more large, dark black animals," The Chief of Army looked closely at his paper. "One attack destroyed an entire town, roughly a hundred inhabitants."

The President grew confused "What? You said they were animals."

"Yes sir, I did. I suppose monsters is a better term in this case," The Chief of Army stated flatly, "This attack specifically gained the attention of local authorities, and they believed at first it was caused by some Russian stragglers left behind from the invasion force. So, they informed the nearby military units." He took a picture from the file and pushed it to the President to observe.

The President studied the image. It showed multiple large wolf like creatures, definitely larger than a man, they had white skull heads with almost pure black bodies with what appeared to be sharp pieces of bone sticking out its body and limbs. The picture showed 3 such creatures running on 4 legs towards who ever took the original photo. He could see at the bottom of the photo the front end of a Humvee, the person that took the photo must've leaned on the hood for stability and cover. And in the photo, it looked like tracer rounds flying towards the creatures, one creature having one of its legs blown off in the photo, taken by the military then.

"Our military units encountered these creatures and fought them, they are fast, agile and durable, withstanding multiple rifle rounds and shrapnel. The only efficient way of killing one is by heavy caliber weapons or explosives." Chief of Army informed the President.

"Some also appear to be intelligent. The men that encountered these creatures named them alphas for they lead other creatures of its kind, in some cases in flanking maneuvers or even ambushes as our men experienced," Chief of Air Force added in.

"And most problematic sir, is that they are fearless and do not care for their own lives. When they see someone, they will do anything to kill that person." Chief of Army said while flipping to the next page from the file. "They don't seem to do anything other than look for people to kill. They don't even kill the native wildlife interestingly enough, just people."

They only attack people? They really are monsters. Thought the President.

"It isn't just wolf like creatures, there've been reports of bears of similar descriptions to these. There was also a report of an avian creature of similar quality's attacking one of our helicopters. The helicopter was damaged and had to force a landing, but the gunners killed it." Chief of Air Force informed.

The President getting increasingly worried, "What are the casualties from these creatures?"

"Roughly 200 killed, but probably more. Only 24 of those are military," Responded the Chief of Air Force, "As soon as nearby military units were made aware of these creatures. They immediately set about hunting them, wasn't too difficult I'm told. An Army Battalion that was passing through assisted in the hunting efforts, preventing more deaths."

The President, relieved it didn't get worse than that but was still missing information "Thats good but where did they come from?"

"This is where it gets complicated Mr. President," Chief of Army started as he took another picture from the folder and slid it over to the President.

It showed an Archway in a clearing of forest, presumably in the mountains, it was large though. It went clear over the trees and was very long in width noticed the President as the photo was taken from the air.

"Our guys found this Archway not far from the main road. Hard to miss. And..." The Chief of Army took a pause to find a way to explain it. "Well, when our scouts went into the Archway it led to another world."

The President didn't believe he heard that right "Another world?"

"Another world." The Chief of Army confirmed, "If we are to put it simply, we clueless on how exactly the archway connects to this world. But one thing we know for sure is, it's not our planet on the other side." He slid over another picture.

"What the..."

"It's night when its day over here and vice versa. But as you can see that's not our moon." The Chief of Air Force pointed out.

The President very well having eyes, "No shit."

The picture showed a moon just not an intact one, as Earths was. This moon showed to be a quarter shattered, more or less destroyed.

Chief of Army having hint of a smile from the comment, showed another picture. "All those creatures came from this land."

This time a forest was in the photo that looked not entirely different from earths, couldn't tell honestly if it was or not. The President thought.

"And how did we not notice this Archway before?"

"We questioned the people around the area, they never seen nor heard of such structure and records from the area never mention it either, and the Russians didn't make it that far inland, so we are assuming it just appeared. For what reason, is of course still unknown." Chief of Air force stated.

"Unknown..." Thats concerning, thought the President.

"We have secured the Archway and are preventing any further incursions. But we have deemed it appropriate to wait for further action until you were made aware of the situation and made a decision."

The President nodded in approval at this action, but what to do next? We could destroy it, end the problem, and put more attention on the war effort. Or we could explore this world and just maybe find out why or how it appeared on American soil. But the danger that could pose, these creatures came from this land, what else could be over there? But what if there is intelligent life? We can make first contact and share knowledge about each other, maybe even gain a hand over the Russians!

"What do we know exactly about these creatures?"

"Quite frankly sir, we told you everything we know and what's in this file." The Chief of Airforce said as he waved the folder in the air.

"We know nothing at all besides that. How? What do they eat? What was the autopsy report on these things?"

"We can't perform one Mr. President; they disappear when they die." Chief of Marines informed.

"What do you mean?"

"They turn to dust." Chief of Marines stated, while giving the President a serious face.

A Chinese invasion was looking good right about now. The President thought bitterly. His presidency was looking great, allowed World War 3 check, allowed the American mainland to get invaded check, now fighting fantasy monsters coming through an archway from an unknown world. Fantastic, just more reasons to keep me awake at night.

"How does the military think I should proceed?"

The Chiefs all looked at each other a moment and considered their options.

"Mr. President we are military men, so we don't really have a political take on this, but we need to secure the other side and make sure nothing else comes through that arch that we don't expect and cause chaos. Especially as we are at war. So, I propose a military expedition into this world." Chief of Army voiced his opinion. The other Chiefs of staff motioned their approval at this motion.

"And how big of force would this need to be?"

The Chief of Army considered this question for a moment. "A brigade should be enough, just enough for scouting, exploration, and for countering any threat. And some Air support would be ideal."

"I believe we can spare a few planes for this expedition." Chiefs of Airforce added.

"But do we have any brigades to spare in the region?" The President Asked.

The Chief of Army took a moment to think of who they could send. Shit, all the experienced units have left for other theaters and all that remain are green or support units... Thats it! Sawyers' unit.

"Mr. President do you remember Colonel Sawyer?"

"Yes of course, he's the one that defended Fort Teller and made the breakthroughs in Seattle."

"Well Sir, I believe he is still in Washington, with his subordinate training new troops and resting for their next assignment, he and his men are perfectly suited for the task." Chief of Army stated.

He approved of this, Sawyer had gained quite the reputation and succuss in the war, especially in Washington. If it wasn't for his actions in delaying and pushing the Russians back to Seattle, we would've had no choice but to nuke Seattle itself. Not to mention his men have proven to be excellent soldiers on the field and in desperate situations and would be ideal for this task. The President thought.

"I like it."

"I'll give the order to commence right away sir."

The President stood up to end the meeting and the rest followed.

"One more thing gentleman. If anything, and I mean anything comes up from this place I want to know immediately. We are sending our boys in to find out how this Archway appeared and stop the threat of these monsters. And possibly search for intelligent life and valuable recourses. Understood?"

"Yes Mr. President." They all responded.

"Good, Dismiss."

5th of May 1990 Soviet Union, Ural Military District.

This land was unfamiliar to the young Beowolf.

He surveyed the field he was on. It was slightly cold, yet not freezing on this semi-sunny day. And there was big mountains to what he believed was West, he wasn't entirely sure because this land felt different from the land he was familiar with. But one thing that did remain familiar was emotion, and this land was full of it. It was way stronger here then where he came from, and he felt a strong scent of it past those big mountains he was heading too.

As soon as he exited the Archway, to which he came from, he made his way for the mountains, to the feelings of people, the people that needed to die. His whole goal was to kill people, and as many as possible. And he was going to fulfil that goal and head west for as long as it took him too. To kill people.

As the Beowolf made his way towards the Mountains he failed to notice he wasn't the only one on the field. He was pulled so much towards the emotions of so many people to the West that he didn't see a lone, steel tracked, vehicle observing the Beowolf from the forest as it strolled right in front it.

"Target, 200 meters! Bearing 167! Load HE!" A voice commended from inside the vehicle.

"Loading HE!"

"Track target!"

The Beowolf stopped when it noticed movement to its right.

"Target Tracked!"

There was a thump sound from inside the vehicle, "HE loaded!"

The Beowolf looked to see what alerted him, at first it didn't see anything, just a tree line. But when it looked more closely it noticed something, a barrel. And it was pointed right at him.

"Fire!"

The only thing the Beowolf did was get on its hind legs to confront the humans, before it saw a flash of smoke from the barrel. The shell traveled faster than the Beowolf could react and impacted the Beowolfs chest, the 115mm round penetrated the skin and traveled straight through the chest cavity hitting the back side of the Beowolf. The shell finally exploded, disintegrating the Beowolf instantly in a giant inferno of fire and dirt.

"And here I thought these things were dangerous." The gunner of the vehicle stated.

"They are, just this one was dumber than the rest." The commander responded, "Driver start the engine." There were a few clicks from below the turret in the hull, then the T-62 was alive. The Engine rumbled as it warmed itself back up, ready to move the 37-ton war machine. "Driver forward." The commander ordered.

The Driver obeyed and the tank lurched forward, the red star clearly visible on the side, and rolled its way onto the field to where the beast once was.

"Driver take a hard left and go where that thing came from." The commander ordered again.

The driver did as he was told, and the tank turned and moved to where the beast came from. The tank with the crew rolled their way to an unknown destination, hoping to find a clue of some sort on the origins of the creatures.

Fucking bullshit the commander thought, as he opened the hatch to the turret and stood up to look for more of the creatures with an AKS-74 in hand. Go find where they're coming from my ass. I have to risk my tank, my crew, just to appease a no-good officer that wants to suck up to the higher ups.

The tank rolled into another tree line running over bushes and shrubs, tearing up grass and such. Better get some benefit out of this-What the hell... thought the commander as the tank came out the other side of the tree line.

"Driver stop!" The Commander Ordered as he studied what was a few hundred meters in front of them.

The Tank came to an abrupt halt. And the Tank commander took a moment to rub his eyes to make sure he was seeing right. He looked again; it was still there. He went back into the turret to radio his superior officer.

"Hey sarge, why we stop?" Loader asked.

"Look outside!" The commander responded as he fiddled with the radio to the correct settings.

The rest of the tank crew opened their hatches to see what caused the commander to stop everything and radio the higher ups. But when they all looked forward, they all stared in shock at what it was. A few hundred meters forward was a giant archway, it appeared to be made of a type of crystal. But what was shocking was what was inside the arch, it was a forest, not to different from the ones around them currently. But what the tank crew could discern was the fact that it was nighttime in that forest, it was the afternoon where they were.

The commander finally got the radio work, "Sir, I believe I found where they are coming from. And you won't believe it."
