The Nazi war machine was on its last legs, hammered on all sides by allied forces.
After so much sacrifice, so much bloodshed, and so much horror, it seemed that the entire world was able to wake at last from its nightmare.
Instead, Adolf Hitler woke the dead.
(A recovered German film reel shows a compilation of footage of dead Nazi soldiers rising from their graves as monstrous and mindless abominations of rotting flesh and bone.)
The allies didn't stand a single chance against them. Hitler's thralls of undead soldiers were tireless, merciless, numberless, insatiable, and unstoppable.
They came in from everywhere. Nowhere, not even the fortified military bases of the Third Reich were safe.

But for us, the survivors formed a resistance and fought back against the undead, despite the odds. The Dead War, we called it.
(Shows a poster with the words "The Resistance Needs You!" on it)
After months of brutal losses, a Volunteer squad of resistance members turned the tide of the Dead War in our favor.
(A newsreel shows Byakuya, Makoto, Hinata, and Shuichi standing strong against the forces of a zombified Hitler.)
They threw Hitler into Hell, cutting the head off the snake.
(After Byakuya and Hinata threw Hitler into the Hellmouth, Makoto fires a bullet from his M2 carbine, destroying the Sagarmatha relic the four had in their possession and sealing Hitler away for good.)
And still, the Dead War rages on.
(A newspaper with the words "Dead War is not over!" is shown)
Even without Hitler, even without a purpose, the zombies roam the Earth in swarms a million strong.

As for us? Well, we're taking the world back. One bullet at a time.
(A newsreel shows Classes 78, 77-B, and 79, known in this universe as Kill Squad 78, Kill Squad 77-B, and Kill Squad 79 mowing down a horde of zombies with a combination of modified assault rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns, and shotguns.)
Ladies and gents, this is the prologue for my new Danganronpa fanfic set in the Zombie Army 4: Dead War universe. Instead of the four usual characters of Shola, Karl, Boris, and Jun, they've been replaced with the forty-eight ultimate students from DR: Trigger Happy Havoc, DR: Goodbye Despair, and DR: Killing Harmony. For the first six missions, I decided to split up the missions so that the plot of the story goes like this:
Class 78 takes Dead Ahead and Death Canal
Class 77-B takes Meat Locker and Zombie Zoo
Class 79 takes Rotten Coast and Molten Nightmare
But for the final three missions, all forty-eight of them will go into Rome and blast through hordes of the undead in All Roads Lead to Hell, get sucked into the fiery depths of Hell itself in Hell Base, and face off against Adolf Hitler himself in the final battle on Hell Machine.
