Zombie Army 4: Ultimate Dead War
Chapter 4: Locomotive Lockdown-Part 1 (Part four of Dead Ahead)
OST: Sniper Elite: Zombie Army Trilogy OST: Main Theme
Inside the main base, Kill Squad 78 was planning their next move and resting. While the eight girls decided to head down to the base's shooting range to sharpen their aim and have some friendly competition, four of the boys headed to the weapon workshop to upgrade or modify their weapons, while Byakuya, Yasuhiro, Chihiro, and Makoto made their way to the radio repair workshop.
"Edie?" Chihiro called, "Are you there?"
"Yes?" somebody called. "What is it?"
Chihiro then turned to see a young and youthful resistance fighter appear behind the shopfront in front of him. She appeared to be in her prime, as she didn't have any wrinkles or bags under her eyes, and she wore the standard resistance combat/exploration uniform.
"Edie!" yelled Chihiro, "How you've been?"
"Doing well," Edie responded. "How you've been?"
"I'm doing good as well, Edie," Chihiro responded, "Well, one of us has a broken radio that needs fixing."
"How's your radio doing?" Edie spoke, "Does it need to be repaired?"
"Well," Chihiro spoke, "My radio is working, but Yasuhiro's isn't. He tried fixing it before, but for some apparent reason, it's not functioning well."
Chihiro then turned to Yasuhiro and told him to take off his radio, which he did. He then put the cumbersome-looking, but lightweight radio into Chihiro's hands, then Chihiro went to the shopfront to drop it off.
"Here you go, Edie," Chihiro spoke, "I need this radio fully functional by the time we get to our train."
"No problem, hotshot," Edie responded, "It'll be working good as new by the time you're ready to depart."
"Thanks, Edie," Makoto spoke, "we owe you one."
As Edie got to work fixing Yasuhiro's broken radio, the four former soldiers went down to the shooting range to sharpen their aim, vent out stress, and in this case, ask questions.
"How did we all meet each other, Makoto?" Yasuhiro questioned Makoto, "I mean, how did we end up being more than just friends, but a family?"
"Well," Makoto spoke, "it started way before when all seven of us, excluding Mondo, dropped in as paratroopers before the D-Day landings."

Makoto jumped out of the Douglas C-47 transport just as it was being shot down by the blanket of anti-air fire coming from down below. From his point of view, he felt like a fallen angel that had fallen out of god's favor and as punishment, cast out from heaven. He watched as his fellow airborne were shredded and mauled by the anti-aircraft fire. As the ground grew closer, he pulled his parachute's ripcord, slowing his fall and preventing him from splattering on contact with the ground and dying. After his feet made contact with the ground, he took off his parachute, readied his weapons, and met up with his squad, or to be more accurate, what was left of it.
"Where the fucking hell is the rest of the squad?" Makoto questioned his squad, "What the fuck happened to them?"
"Well Sarge," Corporal Yasuhiro Hagakure spoke in anguish, "we lost Porkins and Towa during the initial drop. Both of them got shredded to death by anti-air fire. We also lost four other squad members due to enemy fire in the drop zone."
"Corporal Hagakure," Makoto barked. "listen to me."
"What is it, sir?" he responded, "What do you want me to do?"
"I need you to stay close to me so that we don't end up like the rest of our squad," Makoto spoke, "Do you think that you can handle that?"
"Yes, Sir," Yasuhiro responded to Makoto. He then grumbled to himself, "I hate it when my comrades die in front of me."
(Present Day)
"Wait, hold on," Yasuhiro spoke, "Did you say that I was part of your squad when we first came here in Europe?"
"Yes I did, Hagakure," Makoto responded, "Yes, I did."
"If that's what you're saying," Yasuhiro responded, "Can I call you Sarge again, Naegi?"
"Right now, Hagakure, all forms of formalities are off the goddamn table," Chihiro chirped in, "Just call all of us by our regular names, that's it."
"I'm not finished with my story yet, my friends," Makoto spoke, "There's more to this story than meets the eye."
(2 Years Earlier, June 5, 1944)
Private Chihiro Fujisaki was surrounded by a large patrol of German soldiers that were firing on his position. He, Seargent Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Private Hifumi Yamada, Seargent Byakuya Togami of the 101st Airborne, and Corporal Leon Kuwata had taken refuge inside an abandoned farmhouse, and they were on the brink of being flushed out and killed.
"Sir!" Leon yelled as he fired at the German soldiers, "There's too many of them! What should we do?"
"We have to hold out for as long as we can!" Kiyotaka yelled as he reloaded, "That's an order soldier!"
"Yes, sir!" Leon responded. "Everybody, light those bastards the fuck up!"
Meanwhile, in the dining room, Chihiro was operating the radio. As the fighting raged on, he was desperately sending a distress signal out.
"All allied units in our area, this is Private Chihiro Fujisaki of the 82nd Airborne." Chihiro radioed desperately, "We are under heavy fire and are in desperate need of reinforcements. Repeat, we are under heavy fire and are in desperate need of reinforcements."
(Meanwhile, back with Makoto and Yasuhiro)
As the two paratroopers patrolled the French countryside, they heard the sounds of gunfire off in the distance.
"What the hell's that noise?" Yasuhiro spoke. As he looked around wildly, his radio flickered to life.
"All allied units in our area, this is Private Chihiro Fujisaki of the 82nd Airborne." Chihiro's voice echoed on the radio, "We are under heavy fire and are in desperate need of reinforcements. Repeat, we are under heavy fire and are in desperate need of reinforcements."
"What the hell?!" Yasuhiro yelled, "Sarge, listen!"
As Makoto listened to the distress signal being sent again by Fujisaki, his face turned from one of intrigue to one of anger as started to hear what sounded like machine-gun fire on the radio.
"Oh shit," Makoto spoke under his breath. He then barked at Yasuhiro, "We have to help them, NOW!"
"How can we do that, dude?" Yasuhiro responded, "You and I don't even know where they're located!"
As they walked toward the sounds of gunfire, they could hear the German soldiers taunting and insulting the American paratroopers holed up inside the farmhouse.
"Bekämpfe uns, amerikanische Schweine! (Fight us, American Pigs!)" one of the soldiers yelled.
"Ihre Frauen verdienen es, vergewaltigt zu werden! (Your wives deserve to be raped!)" another screamed.
"Ihr seid feige Schwächlinge! (You are cowardly weaklings!)" yet another soldier taunted.
As they heard the German insults, both Makoto and Yasuhiro knew that the insults were a sign that they were getting closer to the farmhouse.
"Judging by the fact that we can hear their insults, I think we're getting close," Yasuhiro spoke in a low voice, "But still, both of us are severely outnumbered."
"Use the forests as camouflage and cover," Makoto commanded, also using a low voice, "We have to use the element of surprise to take the Nazi bastards down."
"On it," Yasuhiro responded. "What are we going to do?"
"I take the front of the farmhouse, while you take the right side," Makoto spoke, "We use our grenades to cause as much damage as possible, giving the farmhouse's occupants a chance to counter-attack and hopefully, cripple them."
"Alright then," Yasuhiro responded, "what's my signal?"
"After my grenades explode," Makokto commanded, "Throw your grenades. Throw them so that they land under the gas tanks of one of the trucks."
"Yes, sir," Yasuhiro responded, "let's tear these Nazi bastards apart."
(Meanwhile, back with Byakuya, Chihiro, Hifumi, Leon, and Kiyotaka)
As the five soldiers held out against the German soldiers, all five of them heard a loud explosion near the farmhouse.
*KA-BOOM*
Chihiro looked outside the window in the direction where the loud explosion came from and what he saw blew his mind.
"Holy fucking Christ!" he exclaimed in shock. "What the fuck?!"
Outside, he saw that one of the transport trucks in front of the house had exploded into a burning wreck of metal and wood, killing those close to it. As the surviving germans turned toward the unknown person that threw the grenade, they were mowed down by what sounded like a Thompson SMG.
*BAP-BAP-BAP-BAP-BAP-BAP-BAP-BAP*
Similarly, Kiyotaka heard another loud explosion coming from the right side of the house. He then ran to the right side of the house and looked outside.
"Dear lord!" Kiyotaka exclaimed, also in shock, "What happened here?!"
Outside, he saw that another one of the transport trucks in front of the house had exploded into a burning wreck of metal and wood, killing those close to it. Similarly, the surviving Germans turned toward the unknown person that threw the grenade, they were mowed down by what sounded like a PPsh-41 SMG.
*BRAAP-BRAAP-BRAAP-BRAAP*
The two unknown assailants made quick work of the German soldiers, as the ground was littered with the decaying corpses of German soldiers.
"You can come out now!" an unknown voice shouted, "It's safe!"
As the five occupants of the farmhouse exited the building, they were shocked to see that the unknown assailants were in fact, fellow US Army Airborne that had come to save them. But to make sure that Makoto and Yasuhiro weren't German soldiers, they had to do something.
"Hey there, friends," Byakuya spoke, "It seems that you've gotten here in a flash."
"Sorry for that," Makoto responded, "There was a thunderstorm coming up ahead."
"Here friends, come to my shelter," Byakuya spoke, "You're welcome here."
"Thank god," Chihiro sighed a breath of relief, "I thought that you two were Germans that had come to wipe us out."
"What are your names, soldiers?" Yasuhiro spoke, "Who are you guys?"
"Well, I can speak for all of us," Taka spoke, "I'm Seargent Kiyotaka Ishimaru, you can call me Taka or call me by my nickname, Watchdog."
"Who are the other four?" Makoto responded. "What are their names?"
(Present Day)
"Wait a minute," Chihiro spoke, "Did you say that we had nicknames?!"
"Yeah, I did say that," Makoto spoke, "And they were good nicknames as well."
"Yeah?" Byakuya joined the conversation, "If that's so, what were they?"
"Good question, Byakuya," Makoto responded, "cause that's the next part of my story."
(2 Years Earlier, June 5, 1944)
"That small guy to my right," Kiyotaka pointed at Chihiro, "his name's Chihiro Fujisaki. We like to call him Mouse."
"Come on, Taka," Chihiro pouted, "Don't call me that nickname anymore. I may be small, but I can be intimidating."
"The big guy that's behind me?" Taka continued, "his name's Hifumi Yamada. We prefer calling him Bowling Ball."
"The guy with the glasses?" Taka then added, "his name's Byakuya Togami. We haven't come up with a nickname for him yet."
"And finally, the guy with the red hair?" Taka spoke, "he's Leon Kuwata. We call him Shortstop."
"Is that all of you?" Yasuhiro responded. "Where's the rest of your squad, soldiers?"
"All of them are dead," Byakuya spoke, "They all got shredded by Anti-Air Fire. I'm the only member of my squad left, while the four others are the remaining members of their squad."
"Same with us, Byakuya," Makoto chirped in, "We're the only members of our squad left."
"Hey, do you guys wanna join up?" Yasuhiro spoke with determination, "We can create a new squad."
"Yep," Leon responded, "That'll work."
(Present Day)
"So that was how we met each other," Byakuya spoke, "Is that right, Makoto?"
"Yep," Makoto responded, "That's how we met."
"To add onto that," Chihiro chirped up, "We felt that if one of us was going through hard times, all of us would support each other."
"That is how our sense of family emerged," Yasuhiro spoke, "We will never leave each other's side, as we will stand together as one."
"Yes, Hiro," Chihiro responded, "We will stand together, we will die together!"
As the four former paratroopers made their way to the weapon workshop, each of them swore in their hearts that they would end this unholy war of good and evil once and for all.
