Zombie Army 4: Ultimate Dead War

Chapter 9: Off The Rails-Part 3 (Part ten of Dead Ahead)

OST: Zombie Army 4: Dead War OST: Destroy the body or Remove the Head

Down in the firey sinkhole, the kill squad was fighting tooth and nail against the undead monsters stumbling, wandering, and limping toward them. Makoto hits a zombie with the muzzle of his Thompson, puts his foot on its chest, then blasts its head off with a burst of fire. Mukuro shot the legs off a zombie with her Lee-Enfield #4, then took out her C.G Haenel STG 44, stuck its muzzle into its mouth, then blasted its head off. Chihiro kneeled and stuck the barrel of his Winchester M1897 shotgun into the midsection of another zombie and fired, blowing the demonic creature in half. Leon took out his stiletto and sliced both forearms off a zombie, then its jaw before destroying what remained of its head with a burst from his General Motors M3 Grease Gun. Kyoko took out her Colt revolver, shot both arms off another zombie, then killed it by blowing its head off with her Springfield M1903. Everybody else was firing at the horde and shredding the undead creatures apart, it was absolute madness as they had to cross the firey chasm while fending off zombies surrounding their objective, the station's signal house. Some of them threw grenades at the horde, which crippled the horde to the point of it being a minor obstruction than a significant obstacle.

When they got to the station, they saw another shocking sight on the station roof. On the roof, zombies were walking on top of it and dropped down onto the ruined signal house, where they got up as if some demonic force had reanimated them and shuffled toward them, hungry for their flesh.

"How'd those undead bastards get on top of the station?!" Mondo yelled in shock, "Aren't they smart enough to do that sort of thing?!"

"It still doesn't matter, Mondo," Makoto barked back, "We have to kill these demonic bastards!"

As they fought their way to the ruined remains and in the shattered remains of the signal house, they saw that there were some of the same large yellow supply crates that they had first opened when they were still inside the station. Some of the crates contained electric weapon attachments like before, but the crate on the station's first floor contained something powerful inside when the zombie hunters opened it.

"Oh, my, my," Celeste gawked at what she saw inside the crate, "What do we have here?"

Instead of the usual weapon attachment, there was what looked to be a combination of a blunderbuss, a Gatling Gun, a flintlock, and a bolt-action rifle in the crate. Judging by how the gun looked like, the gunsmith that may have created it was a combination of gifted, crazy, intelligent, and talented. As she picked up the gun to inspect it, she was wowed and entranced by the intricate metal engraving.

"Hey, guys!" Celeste hollered, "Look at what I found!"

When some of the kill squad members saw what Celeste had in her hands, they shared the same reaction as Celeste when she discovered the weapon.

"Damn," Leon gawked at the weapon, "That gun looks like it could blow an elephant's head off..."

"Holy fucking christ..." Mondo stared at the gun in awe, "I bet that thing could kill a sperm whale with just one blow to the head."

"Well there's only one way to find out," Celeste spoke as she raised and aimed the Frankenstein gun in front of a small horde of zombies, "Everyone, stand clear!"

She then fired the gun, sending a wave of burning lead into the mob of flesh-eaters, killing many of them instantly.

"Goddamn!" Mondo was flabbergasted as he spoke, "Leon wasn't lying when he said that the thing could blow an elephant's head off..."

Meanwhile, Makoto, Mukuro, Junko, and Byakuya were firing at the zombies that were coming up the stairs while the rest of the kill squad were spread out along the roof of the signal house firing at the zombies that were falling from the ruins of the station and wandering toward them.

"These rotting bastards won't let up!" Mondo yelled, "Everybody, mow their decaying asses down!"

As the kill squad moved all over the ruins of the signal house, Sayaka went to the door of the signal house and saw something that was a bad sign. On the gate leading to the platform, there was another blood seal like the one at the ticket booth.

"Crap!" she shouted angrily, "We have another blood seal blocking the door shut! You know the drill guys, kill the undead fuckers!"

As they mowed down zombies with their secondaries, some of the kill squad members threw grenades at the horde that was coming up the stairs, killing the remaining zombies and breaking the blood seal, which was just like the one at the ticket booth inside the train station. It shattered into pieces that disintegrated into black smoke and dispersed into nothingness, causing the gate to open from the force of its breaking. The kill squad then made their way inside the signal house, which contained extra supplies for departing resistance members. Just as soon as everybody made their way inside, they saw their ticket out of the station, which was their train, through the window.

"There you are!" A resistance member spoke through the PA system on the train's locomotive, "Thank god! I'm on the train just past the signal house, but we can't move until the tracks have been switched! Get into the signal house and pull the lever, then join me on the train."

As the kill squad resupplied themselves from the ammunition and munitions crates, everybody checked their weapons, ammo, and grenades before they made their way out of the station. Chihiro then pulled the track switch, before unlocking the door by hitting the lock off with his knife. Once everyone had got what they needed, they went through the door, closing it once the last of them made it onto the platform. As they made their way to the train, they heard the tell-tale sound of a train's brakes failing to stop it.

"Oh, crap..." Makoto groaned before he yelled in terror, "EVERYBODY! HIT THE DECK!"

Just as soon as everybody dropped onto the platform floor, a train slammed into the rear of another, causing a huge explosion. As the train car behind the locomotive burned, they heard an inhuman and menacing snarl coming from inside of it.

"What the hell made that noise?!" Mondo shouted as he pointed his gun at the train car's door.

Mondo's question was answered when the door burst open, causing a horrific monster to step out of it. The monster was tall and thin, and it had burnt skin. It wore a gas mask and a German Soldier's helmet and had what appeared to be a gas tank strapped on its back. In its hands, the monster held what looked like a souped-up flamethrower.

"Aw fuck," Hifumi groaned, "It's a flamer! That's not good!"

"Holy shit!" Junko yelled, "That son of a bitch looks ugly!"

"I agree with you, Junko," Mukuro responded, "and its flamethrower looks even uglier!"

"AAHH!" Hiro screamed in terror, "No, god, please! I don't want to die! Not to that thing!"

"Oh my fucking goodness," spoke Celeste, "I can't believe this, but you gotta be fucking kidding me. I don't remember seeing that abomination before..."

"WOAH!" Aoi yelled, "What the hell is that thing?!"

"Aoi!" Sakura yelled, "Stay behind me! I don't want you to get killed by that abomination!"

"That's not a zombie I've seen before when I fought in Berlin," Makoto was shocked at what he saw in front of him, "But whatever that thing is, it has to be killed!"

"H-How the hell does it know how to use that thing?!" Sayaka shouted in pure shock, "That's impossible!"

"That's a zombie using a flamethrower," Kyoko was shocked as well, "I can't believe it..."

"I don't know about this, guys!" Leon yelled, "That monster looks intimidating!"

"Don't get pissy on me, Leon!" Mondo yelled, "It doesn't matter what we're up against, if we move carefully, we've got this!"

"Everyone, stay low and spread out!" Taka yelled when the flamer noticed them, "Here it comes!"

When the flamer noticed them, it uttered the same menacing snarl when it came out of the train car, then unleashed massive gouts of flame at them.

"Everybody! Hit the deck and take cover!" Yasuhiro yelled, "That will help you so you won't get killed!"

As soon as the flamer's fire hit the windows of the signal house, the soldiers were already down on their stomachs and were crawling quickly toward the hastily constructed barricades that once served as the arrival zone for the survivors coming in and resistance members returning. But due to it being stronger and more intelligent than the other zombies that the kill squad had faced, it then aimed its flamethrower at the barricades. It blasted another massive gouge of fire at the barricades, threatening to burn the soldiers to death.

"Dammit!" Leon yelled while behind one of the barricades, "The bastard's trying to burn us out!"

"I can't get a shot off on that thing!" Makoto yelled behind another barricade, "The flame's too intense! Somebody distract that son of a bitch!"

"I'll do it!" Aoi yelled. She then ran up to the platform of the signal house and yelled, "Hey ugly! Over here!"

The Flamer then turned to where she stood and pointed its flamethrower at the signal house again before unleashing another massive gout of fire. Seeing this, Aoi ran to her left, exposing the gas tank strapped to its back to the kill squad, who raised their guns and aimed at it, firing a hail of bullets and damaging the tank, causing it to leak napalm fuel in a jet of fire. By the time Aoi had regrouped with the kill squad, the flamer had a large hole in its fuel tank, and it was spewing fire.

"It seems that the thing won't go down so easily," Celeste said before she yelled angrily, "Pour it out on that motherfucker!"

As the soldiers kept firing at the flamer, it tried to turn and blast its flame on them, but Chihiro went out of cover and did the same thing that Aoi did, this time going to his right. While most of the soldier's bullets ricocheted off harmlessly, a few of the bullets hit their mark, causing another large fire-spewing hole in its fuel tank to appear.

"It looks like it's going to explode!" Junko yelled as she reloaded, "Keep firing!"

As they kept firing, the flamer was soon overwhelmed by the bullets, causing another large fire-spewing hole in its fuel tank to appear, which just so happened to cause the fuel tank to explode as the flamer immediately dropped its flamethrower and tried to plug the holes with its hands, but it was too late. The fuel tank exploded, killing the flamer instantly and sending its flaming contents all over the floor of the station.

"Hell yes!" Mukuro yelled in triumph as the flamer's corpse was consumed by the napalm that it shot at the soldiers, "Take that, you demonic pyromaniac!"

"Good work team," Makoto spoke, "But I think that's the first of the undead bastards!"

Just as he was done saying those words, the sixteen soldiers heard a lot of loud, demonic screams and growls. The death of the flamer had attracted many of the zombies at the station to their location on the platform, so the fight wasn't over at that point. As the zombies stumbled toward them, Makoto issued one order.

"Here they come!" Makoto yelled as he and his squadmates raised their guns, "HOLD YOUR GROUND!"

The resulting chaos that followed was bloody, to say the least. As the zombies closed in on them like wolves, the soldiers unleashed a hailstorm of lead on the approaching zombies, killing many of them. Some of the soldiers even threw grenades at the incoming horde, killing more of the undead in the explosions.

"God fucking damn!" Celestia yelled when she saw suiciders charging and screaming toward them, "How the fuck did the suiciders know we're here?!"

"I think the sounds of the zombies we've killed may have attracted them!" Byakuya yelled back as he raised his gun, "We gotta kill these motherfuckers!"

As they shot at the zombies, some of them moved towards the train just in case the train engineer managed to get the locomotive moving.

"These bastards just won't stop coming!" Taka yelled as he hit a zombie in the head with a burst from his SMG, "Is the damn train ready?!"

"Almost!" The resistance member yelled back, "Just a few minutes longer!"

As they kept firing at the undead, some of them threw grenades at them, killing them instantly.

"How much longer?!" Chihiro yelled in both desperation and anger as he shot a zombie in half with his shotgun, "We have to get out of here!"

"Don't focus on that, Chihiro!" Sakura yelled as she mowed down a group of zombies with her machine gun, "We need to buy the train engineer as much time as possible so we can do just that!"

"Sakura's right, Chihiro!" Junko yelled as she blasted a zombie close to him to pieces with her pistol, "Hold the fucking line!"

After what seemed like an eternity after those words, the words that they were hoping for finally blared through the speakers on the train.

"That's it, got it!" The Train Engineer's voice blared through the speakers, "Come on, get on! Let's get out of here!"

"Go!" Bruno's voice blared over the radio that Chihiro was carrying, "Get to safety! I'll see you on the other side!"

"Everybody!" yelled Makoto, "You heard him! Get inside the train!"

As soon as Makoto uttered those words, some of them ran inside one of the boxcars connected to the locomotive, while others backed up and fired at the advancing horde before making their way inside the boxcar. Makoto was the last to enter the train, being chased by a zombie. As soon as his right foot crossed the doorway of the boxcar, Mondo and Sakura slammed the sliding door of the train car shut, beheading the zombie. As the train pulled out of the now permanently abandoned station, a sinister figure that looked like a German Officer was staring at the train, formulating a demonic plan in mind.
