A/N: We're backtracking a little here and glazing over the conversations at the end of the previous chapter and starting at the beginning of the party.
The party had begun pretty successfully, outside of Leanne and Henry.
Even though everyone knew about the breakup – they too – like Jessica wanted the party to be a means to possibly have them be friends again.
"Leanne, why don't you go talk with Henry?"
Jessica had suggested only to receive an eyeroll and a scoff,
"No, Mrs. Fletcher."
Jessica sighed as Henry was watching them as he prepared Leanne's first drink of the party, but waited for a little bit so that she could get comfortable.
"When and how did Leanne and Henry meet?"
Della asked as Jessica nodded,
"They met as children in the same neighborhood."
Perry nodded as he scanned the room.
Something felt off, but he couldn't seem to put a finger on it.
"Mr. Mason – "
Grady started as Perry stopped him with a gentle smile,
"Call me Perry, Grady."
Grady nodded,
"Something feels off."
Perry nodded,
"I know, thanks for letting me know that it's not just me who feels that way."
Della and Jessica smiled,
"Grady's very lucky to have you as an Aunt, Jessica."
Jessica blushed,
"I'm lucky to have him as a nephew."
Both women giggled as they watched Grady move from Perry and began to play with some of the children at the party.
As Henry watched Leanne, she was beginning to show signs of being comfortable…
"Hey, Jason. Give this to Leanne."
Henry suggested as Jason looked to his best friend,
"Why?"
Henry shrugged,
"Call it me being nice to her through you."
Jason sighed – but he couldn't refuse Henry's drink for Leanne.
"Hey, Leanne. Henry made a drink for you."
Jason said as he walked over to Leanne and handed her the drink as she took it without questioning… knowing that Henry was being "nice" because it was a social situation – as she took a sip and continued to enjoy herself.
What everyone, but Henry, didn't know is that Leanne's drink had been laced with a small amount of poison – enough to make her woozy and not know who anyone was.
As Leanne was taking sips of her drink, Della and Jessica had noticed Henry watching Leanne – as if he was making sure she was sipping on it.
"Della."
Jessica started as Della nodded,
"I know, Jess. Henry."
"Henry's never done that before. Did he put something in Leanne's drink?"
Jessica asked as Della thought for a moment. Whenever someone would do that to someone else, she had noticed that they would watch the other person intently as if to make sure that their plan goes through.
That was the scene for a good hour or so before Henry began to notice Leanne's wooziness… as sure sign that his plan was working when he walked up to her – after placing the knife in one of the inside pockets of his jacket so no one could see it as they walked out.
"C'mon, darling let's get some fresh air. You're halfway in the bag."
Henry coaxed as Leanne walked out with him – without her coat as they made their way to the beach,
"Isn't it nice out Jason?"
Leanne asked in a slurred voice as Henry let her go as he walked behind her slowly.
"Sure is, Leanne."
Henry replied as he silently drew the knife before making his move, covering her mouth and stabbing her and laying her on the sand placing the knife a few yards ahead of Leanne's body as he made his way back to the house – not before going over to his place and changing his shirt (it was similar to the one he wore to the party but a different color) and washing his hands before placing his coat back on and walking back to Jessica's.
"Henry, where have you been? Where's Leanne?"
Jason asked when Henry walked back in,
"She stumbled out the door to get some fresh air and I followed, being the nice guy that I am, to make sure that she didn't get hurt. Then she fainted on the beach a few minutes to the west of here… Why don't you go check on her?"
Jason nodded and made his way out as Henry mingled.
Jason had brought a flashlight as he made his way to the beach and headed the way Henry told him to, and as he began to walk… there was this sudden uneasiness that washed over him.
Leanne wouldn't be this way… walking on the beach in the condition she was in without any light on her.
"Leanne! Darling, where are you?"
Jason shouted into the darkness as Grady and Perry sat on the porch watching Jason… both experiencing the same uneasy feeling,
"I hope Leanne's alright."
Perry mentioned as Grady nodded,
"You like her don't you?"
Perry nodded as Jason continued his trek to find Leanne.
Jason was walking and when he shone the flashlight to the bloodstained knife… Jason picked it up and looked directly ahead as he ran to Leanne and began to panic as he ran back to the house seeing Perry and Grady as he hollered,
"Call the police! Leanne's dead!"
Grady jumped up as Jason just stood there motionless as he hyperventilated and when the police came he showed them where Leanne was but when they saw the knife still in Jason's hand Sherriff Tupper sighed,
"I'm sorry, but Jason Watson, you're under arrest for the murder of Leanne Cole."
Jason and Leanne's parents stifled gasps and sobs as they watched Jason go willingly to the police station as Henry slipped into the darkness with a small grin.
The plan worked. Maybe Jason will learn not to mess with him again.
