Chapter Twenty-One
Lucius watched as the owl flew away. 'Will she think it high-handed of me telling her to stop reading the night?' With this question in mind, he turned from the window and made his way to his room. 'I imagine that if she does think that I'll be getting another letter from her before the night is out.' He changed out of his trousers and shirt into a pair of silk sleep-pants. He slipped into his bed and quickly fell asleep with a smile on his face.
He awoke a few hours later to a mug of his morning coffee sitting on his nightstand. 'Thank Merlin for coffee' He thought as he sat up and stretched. 'I will most certainly be needing it today. I'm getting too old to be staying awake until two and getting up at six.' He grabbed the mug and took a long draft, instantly feeling more alert. He looked around but did not see Hermione's owl or any letters waiting for him. 'She must have taken my advice to call it a night. Good.' He quickly finished his coffee and went about preparing for his day.
About an hour later Lucius was walking towards the designated apparation point on the manor's property. He paused before apparating and gave a short whistle. Within a moment or two his owl alighted on his shoulder. "Hello Jareth." Lucius smiled softly as he stroked the plumage on the owl's breast. "I have a letter for you to deliver." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sealed envelope. He held it up to the owl. After taking it in his beak Jareth flew away needing no instructions on whom the letter the meant for. As soon as Jareth departed Lucius apparated.
